Britain's satirist-of-all-trades Ali G (aka Sacha Baron Cohen) makes his feature-film debut with this gross-out comedy set against the backdrop of the House of Parliament. Where his British and U.S. T... read more read more...V shows had him conducting absurd interviews with real-life politicians and lawmakers, Ali G Indahouse casts him against Charles Dance as Carlton, an unscrupulous member of the House who's intent on upsetting the current Prime Minister (Michael Gambon) in the next election. Hoping to attract negative attention to the leader, Ali G is promoted as a running mate of sorts -- a tactic that backfires in Carlton's face as the clueless rapper quickly ascends the political ladder. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi

A strong character from the British comedian, his original crowd pleaser and probably more popular in the UK than anywhere else but despite that this film doesn't really hit the mark.

Like all movie adaptations of comedy shows that are typically 30min long, a feature length vers... read moreion doesn't quite make it in terms of laughs and plot. Unlike his other characters Bruno and Borat which are basically funny clips or sequences stuck together in doc style, Ali G tries for a proper plot line but fails.
Much like 'Mr Bean' the plot is terribly weak and can't hold you for up to 1h 30min, of course you get what you expect in terms of racism, sexism and plenty of sex and toilet jokes but its just not as sharp in a film, it works better as a comedy show for some reason.

Ali G is of course a brilliant character no doubt, totally taking the piss out of the modern young generation of middle/lower class whites that like to think they are black gangsters, whats even more funny is they don't even realise this hehe.

Probably Cohen's best creation but his weakest film, it does what it says on the tin but its still not as good as you would hope for, on the plus side there are some amazing looking women in the film :)

Most film adaptions of TV shows dont work, this is the occasional one that does work. I liked it because it focuses on the character from the TV show and doesn't try to change anything or add anything to appeal to a wider audience. It promises laughs even if you haven't seen Ali ... read moreG on tv before (like me) and it keeps its promise.

I am a huge fan of all of Baron Cohen's alter egos, except Bruno. But this movie is nothing like Ali G. The writers made up a fake story about the character and didn't make audiences who loved the character happy. Despite Cohen's best attempts, Ali G Indahouse needs an eviction n... read moreotice.

Oh the things you end up watching when it's somebody else's choice! Ok, I have to admit to laughing on a couple of moments. It's sort of car crash tv, you know you shouldn't look, but something makes you do it!

i thought it was very amusing!
stupid but just very amusing!

It didn't really work as a film, luckily SBC realised this in time for his stronger character, Borat. It?s really infantile and quite shit but there are some guilty laughs in there. I bet Martin Freeman has removed this one from his CV though!

"This is my hood and these girls belong to me.
- Belong? That is a very sexist way to talk about these bitches."

I remember this character way back from the early start of the century. Ali G is a sexist, wannabe "gangstarapper" with a big mouth and a big hole in common knowledge... read more. I'm pretty sure that most of those who own a TV have seen Alistair Leslie Graham at some point.

Ali G started, as you may know, as a character who interviewed celebrities, puting them in odd situations and so on. Then he got so popular, being the "voice of da youth", that he got his own feature movie. While the short interviews may have been funny, the movie does have huge problems.

First of all, the interviews may have had this feeling of realism but the movie is so over the top that it does not match up to the TV show. Ali G becoming a member of the Parliament almost turning Britain upside down? Come on. Even Sacha Baron Cohen, the man behind Ali G, must have known that this can't work. The film doesn't have even that many genuinely funny scenes. The "racing" scene in the beginning and the sex scene between the two confused Ali G sidekicks. Two funny scenes in 90 minutes is a shame.

Sacha Cohen is a talented writer, 'Borat' is proof of that. 'Ali G Indahouse' is just so worn out that all funny stuff that could have been squeezed out of the character was done already in the TV show.

Sacha Cohen has already retired the character. That is a good thing. If you really want to remember Ali G at his funniest, I recommend you to watch him interview celebs instead.

What makes Ali G a great character is the honest uncomfortable moments with political figures. A scripted movie feels more like a watered down Pootie Tang.

Must see for anybody who likes anything that's fun

Pass this one to your girlfriend and she gonna laugh with you but warning not everyone will like this and in years to come people will look back in horror at this movie.

A raw comedy that is intermittently hilarious as it attacks pretty much every taboo around.
