Having seen both the original Alfie from 1966 and the remake from 2004, I think I have a pretty clear view of things instead of wondering what's it all about? First of all, Jude Law is terrific in the movie and gives a fantastic performance, despite the detractors. Second, I foun... read more

It's could be charming, but after see the original Alfie (1966), this remake is a complete trash and silly.

More of a light hearted drama than comedy most of the time. I've not seen the original version but assume this is sexed up a little. Quite a strange format, almost monologue the whole way through Alfie talking to the viewer, something different. It has a great cast and Sienna Mil... read more

I actually think this is a great movie for what it is. It's not corny or predictable at all, in fact it was pretty surprising. Jude Law was amazing and really carried the movie. It's not just your average romantic comedy, it's actually pretty dramatic at times.

Hated it. Although Alfie is meant to be unlikable, Jude Law manages to be completely hateful in this utterly pointless remake. Some of the direction has its moments but overall is completely confused as to what it wants to be and to what it wants to achieve!

I loved this so much. Jude Law is amazing as Alfie and although he was a complete p***k in the beginning I grew attached to him and felt for him when he might have been ill. The acting is realistic and believable. Amazing remake- even better than the original.

Good Lord! I'm going to check out the original to see if it's as bad as this piece of garbage. Jude Law continues to believe he's Michael Caine in Alfie, a film that doesn't go anywhere at all. It seems like the whole point of this film is for Alfie to go around screwing up the l... read more

This is an ugly, blue-tinged movie that telegraphs every plot turn. Full Review

Back in the mid-1960s, Alfie Elkins was one of the reasons a women's liberation movement was necessary. Today, he's just another bad date with a surplus of personal grooming products. Full Review
The new script raises the emotional stakes of the old scenes it retains, cuts plot elements that can't be updated and creates new story lines that are just as effective as those it replaces. Full Review
It lacks the harsh, biting punch of its memorable 1966 predecessor. And perhaps there was no other way to do it. Full Review
The women Alfie betrays, played by Marisa Tomei, Jane Krakowski, Nia Long and Sienna Miller (Law's offscreen love and an actress of beauty and intelligence), give him so many deserved post-feminist wh...
