Based on the Clive Barker short story, Dread. This is an experiment gone horribly wrong. Quaid not being satisfied with the outcome of their project decides to take it a bit further. Well a lot further. He decides to make these aquintances who have shared their fears live them out. It's really disturbing and gruesome in some parts. The first half of the movie moves a bit slow but it is on purpose to build up the characters and their stories. When it does pick up, it starts getting really good. The four leads are surprisingly very good in this film. They give strong emotional performances. First time seeing some of them in a film, besides Rathbone who I have only seen in the Twilight Saga films. Which I might add he doesn't do much acting in. So it was nice to see him in something he has more then just 3 or 4 lines in. I thought he was really good and will look for other films of his. But overall this movie wasn't so much scary as it was very dark and twisted. This isn't your normal horror flick. This is your more bone chilling, creepy, and killer obsessive movie. This movie has really good directing as well. Liked the close up scenes of the where it shows Quaids family being done away with, and the axe thuding against the stairwell. Just creepy. Very well done film. More should see it.

It was boring. Like seriously boring. Only the ending was interesting.

ok so I don't know how to classify this movie, kept execting some realization regaarding quaid's past, who the killer was, why he did it, how quaid escaped, but no. also kept expecting something to happen before I was about 3/4s of the way through the film.

Exceeded my expectations! We watched Dread and The Final and both were worthy of $5 rental fee. I am looking forward to seeing others from Horrorfest 4.

A bit too concerned with gore to really grapple with the concept of dread, but too full of dialogue to be genuinely thrilling Full Review

A horror flick that saves the shocks for the end. It's not soon enough. Paul Chambers, CNN. Full Review

It is a film very much about its own audience, confronting us all with the insatiable sadism and voyeurism of those who seek to dispel their own innermost fears vicariously.

A clever balancing act between basic scares, a creepy concept, and something a little more (dare I say) cerebral. Full Review
