When the weight of rejection begins to set in after being denied entry to every college he has applied to, a high school burnout attempts to placate his mom and dad and win the heart of his dream girl... read more read more... by scheming with his friends to create a fake university in a hilarious comedy of artificial education directed by Steve Pink and starring Justin Long. Bartleby "B" Gaines (Long) is a high school senior whose street smarts just never seemed to translate into the classroom, and whose bad luck in love has left him pining for the unattainable Monica (Blake Lively). When Bartleby and his rebellious crew of outcasts find the frequent college rejection letters they have all been receiving bringing endless grief from their disappointed parents, they soon band together to create the fictional South Harmon Institute of Technology. After creating a believable façade in an abandoned psychiatric hospital, employing the talents of a close friend's brilliantly subversive uncle (Lewis Black) to pose as the dean, and creating a phony website in order to sell the school to their parents, Bartleby and friends soon realize that all of their hard work has paid off in ways than they never imagined. With a variety of college rejects attempting to enroll in classes at the ersatz university and the skepticism of some privileged students from a nearby college drawing unwanted attention to the South Harmon Institute of Technology, Bartleby and friends find their ruse becoming ever more difficult to maintain. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

    Stupid and not realistic.

Quirky teen comedy. Funny and inventive. I quite liked it.

Pretty inconsistent in the quality of its humor, but when it's funny, it's downright hilarious. Justin Long is great as always, and the perfect pick for his role. I also loved the inclusion of Lewis Black in the cast. I have only seen his stand-ups prior to this, but as I came to... read more discover, he's just as entertaining on the big screen as well. It appears he's been given a lot of freedom with the material, which gave the movie a real boost in energy and hilarity. If ever he gets his own feature film, I'm definitely renting it. Don't expect too much of this one though, because it's not exactly what you'd call an award-magnet. Some of the roles are badly written, and it's got many of the clichés and stereotypes that you'll find in other high school/college comedies. In any case, it's an enjoyable way to kill some time.

I dont know much, but i always say everyone knows atleast two things if they are able to walk out of their house and close the door behind them, and this movie will surely inspire people to do that incase they arent lready outside making a snowman. so anyway, i know two things.
... read moreone: Brett Favre really, really likes to retire from stuff.
two: if you come across a movie in a video store labeled as comedy and there are alot of people on the cover screaming at the camera for no apparent reason, you should realize its no comedy and then feel compelled to go make a snowman in the beautiful snow.

Very funny college movie & it's way way better than Animal House for me. Jonah Hill is funny as always & Justin Long & Blake Lively have great performances as well!!!

This movie is not very original or believable, but sue me, I enjoyed it. I really did. It's funny as hell, and it does touch upon real life issues, just from a satirical POV that, as I said, wasn't too original or believable and could have been tweaked. The dialogue is hilarious,... read more and the performances by Jonah Hill and Lewis Black are both ridiculously hilarious and scene stealing. Not great, but not terrible either.

Even the characters in the movie are saying at the beginning, 'This is crazy. This will never work.' And I'm like, you know what? You're right. It never will. Not for one second. Even in a whacky come... Full Review

Too bad what begins as a cheerfully irreverent comedy in the tradition of Animal House gets all pious when it slams fraternity culture at neighboring Harmon College.

A campus comedy that's as dull as bong water, Accepted is like the product of a community college filmmaking class, remedial division.

Like its underachieving protagonist, Steve Pink's teen comedy Accepted flashes just enough charm to get by but is too lazy to really make anything of itself. Full Review
