This comedy extends and embellishes characters introduced on Saturday Night Live by regulars Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan in their sketch series of two head-bobbing losers who go on the town, looking... read more read more... for action, when they hear the What Is Love? disco tune. Looking cool, brothers Steve (Ferrell) and Doug Butabi (Kattan) always fail to pick up women in their hapless nightclub jaunts. In Beverly Hills, they work at a fake-flower store run by their father (Dan Hedaya). They are always denied entrance to the Roxbury, a leading discotheque, but an auto accident with Richard Grieco (portraying himself) gives them a foot in the door. Inside, they meet the club's owner (an uncredited Chazz Palminteri), and two gold-diggers (Elisa Donovan, Gigi Rice) believe they are wealthy businessmen. Steve finds his father shoving him into marriage with next-door neighbor Emily (Molly Shannon), but Doug keeps this from happening. Fortune smiles, and the Butabi brothers become the co-owners of a new nightclub. The real-life Roxbury on the Sunset Strip (once the location of the Imperial Gardens and the Players Club) was converted into a Japanese restaurant by the time this film was released. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi

A Night at the Roxbury is one of the first Will Ferrell films that I first saw, and I thought it was a pretty decent comedy. The film is fun to watch, and is the only watchable Chris Kattan film. The film is quite simple in its execution. The film provides you with mild laughter,... read more and it works. Although this isn't a memorable comedy, it is lots of fun. As far as a film based on a skit from SNL is concerned, this is one of the better films. Though not perfect, it is a funny flick and is one of those films that should be watched with friends. For what it is, it's a mindless comedy with decent laughs. I enjoyed the ridiculousness of this film, and thought that the leads were pretty good. This was Will Ferrell in his heyday. This is the type of film that he made that actually was funny. Nowadays, Ferrell is hit or miss. But this was made back when he was funny and his career was just warming up. A decent laugh fest that is harmless fun, A Night at the Roxbury makes you laugh, and is quite underrated. Compared to later SNL films, this is among the few that are funny. However, this isn't the greatest of SNL films that honor belongs to Wayne's World 1 and 2. If you're a Will Ferrell fan, check this out. This is one of his earliest best comedies, even if it's nothing great, it's a decent comedy to watch and a mindless good time. A Night at the Roxbury is decent for what it is, and is better than what most people think. Give it a shot, you may enjoy it.

This movie is hilarious! Kattan and Ferrell make a brilliant team. Even though they look nothing like brothers, their relationship is believable, and very funny. All the actors in this are hilarious even in the smaller roles. It was hard to imagine that such a small SNL skit ... read morecould be made into a movie, but it really works, and surprises you. I highly recommend this movie.

Silly, stupid, and not very much fun (or funny). I didn't much care for this when I first saw it, and my feelings haven't gotten better since then.

I really just don't know what to say about this movie? I is soo stupidly funny that I actually found myself annoyed at some points, but it does deliver the laughs. I want to like this so much more, but I can't.

Very funny and original SNL short that kinda makes it ok onto the big screen. An early film for both Ferrell and Katan but it still shows some really good chemistry and some really high laughs, its a shame they havent made more together. Its hugely dated now but so good to see, t... read morehe music, club style and look and the brilliant wardrobe on display haha there are some really golden moments in this but one wonders how much better it may have been if Carey was in it like the original SNL sketch.

Chris Kattan had most of the prominence in this movie more than Will Ferrell, but look who had the better career. Good "nothing-to-it" movie.

Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan are hilarious as the two club scene brothers that are so dorky. I think this is so funny to watch.

Do not get me wrong this is not a big screen life changing film but it is certainly a movie that will make you laugh out loud. I loved these cahrac... read moreters; Steve and Doug from SNL.....good memories from when I was in high school...the music will bring back both good and crazy memories for many.
