A childhood Christmas favourite about a stoned-looking Snowman who steals a hat from a Wizard from what I can remember. It reminds me of early morning TV during the Christmas holidays in the 80's - it's probably complete crap but I'm rating it high for nostalgic reasons and becau... read morese I love Jimmy Durante's voice almost as much as I love his nose!

I haven't seen this movie in years, but I loved it when I was a kid, and I think kids today will enjoy it still. Watch it for Christmas this year and see for yourself. Merry Christmas!

Basically an extended version of the song, Frosty the Snowman probably holds more cheer for American audiences. In England we have The Snowman, a much subtler and sadder story, but very similar. Here we have some kids looking to have fun with Frosty while a magician tries to recl... read moreaim his magic hat. I couldn't completely enjoy this as, to me, it was rightfully the magician's hat in the first place. The song is always great, and I liked most of the voice work. At under half an hour, it's a great, quick dose of Christmas.

While being subjected to multiple viewings of Frosty the Snowman at the hands of my 2 year-old daughter, I remembered/realized that Frosty the Snowman was never that good and I never really liked it. The Rankin/Bass team hit gold with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and were chasi... read moreng the dragon ever since. When you stop to think about it, making an hour or half hour Christmas special out of a 2-minute song isn't much better than, say... making a two-hour movie out of a kids book you can knock off in ten minutes. Yeah, could be better but it could also be a hell of a lot worse...

Produced by the team of Rankin-Bass(which was founded by Arthur Rankin,Jr. and his business associate Jules Bass)who were one of the most trusted names in children's holiday entertainment(the same team that brought us the holiday favorites "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer","Santa ... read moreClaus is Coming To Town",not to mention other animated fare and live-action features)brings us this timeless holiday classic. What makes this holiday classic stand out from all the others? For one,it was originally broadcast for television when CBS aired in December of 1969. Secondly, the reason why this classic is a standard of holiday greatness is the casting of voicework done by three of the greatest veterans in showbusiness who were still around when this was made: Jimmy Durante voiced as the narrator while deadpan comedian Jackie Vernon did the voice for the main character Frosty while musical-comedy veteran Billy DeWolfe lends his voice as the evil Professor Hinkle. A holiday tradition that has been a favorite ever since it was first aired(CBS still airs this annually),and now through the magic of DVD,it can be cherished again! This was followed by two sequels "Frosty Returns" and "The Legend of Frosty",also produced by the team of Rankin-Bass.

A holiday classic cartoon. The 60's style Rankin-Bass animation works toward setting the fantasy Christmas mood. The story is magical and fun, with a hefty (Jackie-Coogan voiced) Frosty the Snowman coming to life and playing winter games with the kids in the town. The adventure t... read moreakes Frosty and two kids to the North Pole so he won't melt away. The villain magician causes trouble for Frosty and his friends there, with tragedy awaiting; I cried when Frosty apparently "died". There's a special visit from Santa at the end, who makes everything all better. A favorite; I was only 1 year old when it first aired.
