I had an interesting experience that may seem like it tainted the experience of watching this: (I was in the theater with my friends and this group to the right was obnoxiously flashing flashlights and talking loudly. One audience member decided to take action and grab a security... read more

This could have been a smart psychological horror but instead it feels sterile and pointless, missing the chance to explore the possibilities of its premise and the character's issues. Besides, it becomes repetitive after some time, even though John Cusack compensates with a stro... read more

1408 is an incredible horror film and is one of John Cusacks best performances of his career. The plot is mainly in the hotel room, and every minute is a non stop thriller and all I wanted was this porr guy to get out of tha evil f#cking room. John Cusack was incredible, he is ... read more

Stephen King's prolifically hard work strikes again in 1408, a supernatural feature that never, ever fails to scare. And even though many people can only be frightened by one or two general concepts of horror, this one has enough brilliance to pack a scare for almost everyone. ... read more

Do Not Enter 1408. That strange letter is what started the nightmares that await for young ghost story writer, Mike Enslin, in the room number 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel. This movie is extremely underrated. Maybe it was because the movie was to scary for most of the audience. Or, ... read more

Critic Reviews
The movie attempts a false ending that doesn't quite work; the picture feels prolonged, dragged out, and its ennui lessens the impact of some of its more terrifying fillips. Full Review
A faithful and creepy adaptation of [King's] 2002 short story. Full Review
Even as haunted hotel King movies go, 1408 is certainly no Shining. Not even the TV-movie version. Full Review
1408 is one of the good Stephen King adaptations, one that maintains its author's sly sense of humor and satiric view of human nature. Full Review
An entertainingly hairy paranormal affair based on a King short story, 1408 sets up its star -- and its audience -- for a blood-curdling, bone-chilling night of horror. Full Review
There's ghoulish fun and Hichcockian suspense until the film hits a narrative wall around the 60-minute mark. Full Review
If I ever check into a hotel room and the clock radio is playing the Carpenters, I'm going to freak out. Full Review
In this mix of recycled scares and half-hearted twists, the only real fright is the sight of an interesting actor wasting his talents in yet another mediocre movie. Full Review
You might say 1408 has a 1409 ending -- beige, humdrum, only mildly uncomfortable and, once passed through on the journey home, instantly forgettable. Full Review
