One of the sickest pieces of trash I've ever seen. at least it's well told, but the somber theme makes it a little unbearable. good shocking ending though.

If the director would have been less pretentious and get to the point without pleasing himself, he could have managed a better film. its only value is the "shock" element.

Rabid 1979,  R)

Glen or Glenda? 1953,  Unrated)
Glen or Glenda?
Ed Wood's opera prima is way ahead of its time. A sensationalist take on the controversial matter of transvestism and sex change, but that doesn't keep it from being absolutely nuts and hilarious, almost surreal.

Wood could have been a pitiful and mildly mentally impaired man, but he was definitely an auteur who envisioned and created and specific kind of work. Though poor, the results always leave you wandering whether he was insane or he was just a genius pulling off a big, elaborate joke.

On the other hand, Bela Lugosi, the man who once was a mega star, was here in the rock bottom. But strangely, he sort of raises the film's quality (not to say hilarity) thanks to his larger than life way of reciting Wood's dreadfully convoluted and idiotic writing. He makes a Greek tragedy out of every sentence.

Edward D. Wood Jr. was like a child working with crayons, and I guess that's why one has to feel some affection for him and his equally weird troupe of underachievers.
I was certainly mesmerized with this, especially the dream sequence, one of the most raving mad scenes I've ever witnessed
32
Plan 9 from Outer Space 1959,  Unrated)

58
El Topo 1970,  Unrated)
El Topo
A surreal and mystical western that depicts the journeys of a messianic gunfighter. A rare mix of Buñuel's satire and anti religious imagery and Peckinpah's ultra violent frontiere.
If it wasn't for Jodorowsky's pretentious guru crap he tries to profess in all of his films, it probably would have worked better.
59
Halloween III - Season of the Witch 1982,  R)
60
Funny Games 1998,  Unrated)
61
Themroc 1973,  Unrated)
Themroc
Subversive and bizarre anarchist fantasy where incest, murder, cannibalism, among other ways to break free are instructed by a construction worker who gets tired of his aimless and repetitive existence, and the repression exercised by authorities. That once shy and submissive man is now the leader of some kind of urban cavemen community that only seek to give and receive the most primitive forms of pleasure.

There's no dialogue whatsoever, only a series of grunts, yells and gurgles without sense; that serve to establish even more the meaning of disorder inherent in the plot.

lots of messed up films, quite definative. i think you need to watch irreversable again, it's a masterpiece and it disturbed me more than any gore/snuff film.

my problem with "Irreversible" is that I think it was just a plain and simple masturbatory act (from director Garpar Noé).
The only passage of the film where I can relate with the dizzy camerawork is inside that gay s&m club "the rectum" the rest it's mostly gratuitous, it doesn't contribute anything to the narration, plus it's immensely overrated.

Nice list, but one thing really sticks out to me... a 3 star rating(about dead average) for SALO, which is typically considered the "love it or hate it" movie of all time! (I tend to give a lot of average ratings to love-it-or-hate-it stuff too, just because I see both sides of the argument and can't make up my mind).
