1
The Untouchables 1987,  R)
The Untouchables
Vulgar, violent, funny and sometimes breathtakingly beautiful, great costumes, great sets, great cars, great guns, great locations...
BUT... it does not have a great script, great performances or great direction.
DeNiro's scenes portraying Al Capone can be singled out as the biggest disappointment of the film but Connery's performance...stellar.
2
Cape Fear 1991,  R)
3
Pulp Fiction 1994,  R)
4
Déjà Vu 2006,  PG-13)
Déjà Vu
I thought this was going to be confusingly repetitive, but it proved to be really good.
The movie's plot is in fact complicated and possibly difficult for the casual viewer to grasp as it seems to also have more plot details which must be assumed in order to be able to precisely follow the timelines.
5
Heist 2001,  R)
6
Heat 1995,  R)
7
Seven (Se7en) 1995,  R)
Seven (Se7en)
Do you know the 7 deadly sins...bags of body parts, a bitten-off tongue and a man forced to cut off a pound of his own flesh...not half bad, right?
I know everyone went running for Brad Pitt, the young, headstrong cop (how storybook ;/, bah)...but for me the film belongs to Freeman and Spacey.
Freeman for his quiet, carefully detailed portrayal of the jaded older man who learns not to give up the fight and Spacey for his portrayal of this awkwardly admirable psychopath who uses murder as a way of showing people what the world is, as well as punishing the wicked.

Another great performance by Nic Cage...A dark and disturbing film, very edgy, very gritty, very cold.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day 2009,  R)
19
Die Hard 1988,  R)
Die Hard
One of the best action films of its era...duly well noted in my book for including humor as a complement to the action and drama contained in the story; thus also being responsible for creating the official "action star" archetype (that is a far more fallible and human a hero than the muscle-bound Arnold or the stone faced Stallone).
20
Die Hard 3: With a Vengeance 1995,  R)
21
Live Free or Die Hard 2007,  PG-13)
22
Hostage 2005,  R)
Hostage
The movie is fiercely emotional; driven by Willis's character (no never mind that Bruce in himself is able to project more intensity with less overacting than most of his rivals, kudos!)
There is an intimate visual style that keeps us claustrophobically close to the action, an ability to make action sequences clear enough to follow and a dark sensibility that leads to at least two deaths we do not really expect.

Under Siege 1992,  R)
24
Under Siege 2: Dark Territory 1995,  R)

28
Fire Down Below 1997,  R)
29
Crank 2006,  R)
Crank
A fast paced, high velocity, mindless must see...as if you would expect anything less from a movie that is named after Methamphetamine XD.
