Beauty and the Beast
My Disney favourite, this top three is as good as Disney gets. Real classics!

Spirit - Stallion of the Cimarron 2002,  G)
Spirit - Stallion of the Cimarron
I absolutely adore this film, for reasons I'm not sure I fully understand. Maybe just becouse the horses doesn't talk? It facinates me to see how clearly things can be said without words, and great music backs up this masterpiece of animation. I admit the story is simple and there might be one chase-scene to many, but that can be forgiven. The characterization of Spirit, mainly through non verbal communication supported by te occasional voice over, is so strong, and everything just works. Maybe it speaks to my inner child, I don't know, but what I do know is that Spirit will always be close to my heart.

WALL-E 2008,  G)
WALL-E
This little masterpiece is the only movie to make it into my top ten in a very long time. Best film I've seen in years, and definately a highligt of 2008.

The Lion King 1994,  G)
The Lion King
Disneys best. No question.
5
Pocahontas 1996,  G)
Pocahontas
My favourite from Disney alongside Beauty and the Beast and The lion king. Sad and beautiful, telling of a cruel history, but also with hope, original characters and one of the best song sequences ever in colors of the wind. Watching it again now I did lack a little depth on the evil side, but over all this is a spectacular film.

Balto 1996,  G)
Balto
A favorite. Saw it countless times as a kid.

Mulan 1998,  G)
Mulan
Disney at it's best.

Fantastic Mr. Fox 2009,  PG)
Fantastic Mr. Fox
This was one of those rare experiences when I felt like I was discovering something completely new. I have never seen this kind of animation before, and to be introduced to it by Wes Anderson, whose heavily visual and slightly surreal artistic style matches it perfectly, was as good as it gets. The over all look of the film was as fantastic as could ever be excpected, but what really won me over was the strenght of the individual characters in this form experiment. These are wild animals with personalities. Also, points for well casted, and well performing voice actors.

Up 2009,  PG)
Up
I hold Wall-E as one of the best films of 2008, and I had unreasonable high expectations for Up. Especially after the absolutely brilliant teaser trailer that is a work of art on it's own. But Up delivers. For while Wall-E remains my personal favourite Up had everythong. Everything about it just worked, and it was beautiful, and magical and heartbreakening and hilariously entertaing all in the same package. It's greatest strength lies in the attention to detailes, how each and every indivdual little thing flows together and helps support this grand and absurd concept. It is nothing short of genius. And, it made me cry. Twice.

The best one from Miyazaki. No more words needed.
