The Dark Knight 2008, PG-13)
The Dark Knight is easily the best comic book film of all time. Unforgettable, mesmerizing and brillant was the performance Heath gave as the joker stealing the entire film. Christopher Nolan has became my favorite director it began when he made Memento and each film since has been gold. The film itself was a masterpiece from the beginning to the end in fact I think I'll go watch it again right now. |

Watchmen 2009, R)
Zack Snyder did what nobody thought was possible and that was adapt Watchmen into a great film. Watchmen gives The Dark Knight a run for its money as the best comic book film of all-time but falls just short. Much darker and meaner than any other superhero film out there Watchmen is a true masterpiece. Smartly lesser known talents were cast in this film and that was a smart move. There are three stand-out performances Jackie Earle Haley as the deluded and angry Rorshach, Jeffery Dean Morgan is brutal and violent as The Comedian and Patrick Wilson gives a much more understated but equally as good performance as Night Owl. Zack Snyder should get the most credit for recreating the comic so well and getting the spirit of the Watchmen right. So here's to a film made about superheros for adults all I can say is WOW!!! |

(500) Days of Summer 2009, PG-13)
The best romantic comedy in years maybe ever. The story isn't a love story it tells you that right off the bat and that's a good thing in my opinion. It's a story of how messy and heartbreaking relationships can be, how most relationships end with someones heart being ripped out and stomp on. Joesph Gordon-Levitt is one of Hollywoods best young talents he gives Leonardo Dicaprio a run for his money as this generations best talent. The films sturcture is also a huge plus it keeps the film from ever going stale. The best part is the chemistry of it's leading stars Joesph and Zooey they make the film really come alive. |

Juno 2007, PG-13)
Juno is one of those films that come along every now and again that catches you by surprise with its wit and charm. Ellen Page is absolutely illuminating as Juno she gives an amazing breakout performance. Now throw in some Jennifer Garner and you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. The rest of the supporting cast is also very strong mainly Bateman, Simmons and Janney. Juno herself is the reason the film works and the main reason you'll fall in love with this movie. |

Batman Begins 2005, PG-13)
The Batman franchise needed a rebirth and boy did it get one. As soon as I found out Christopher Nolan was set to direct I knew something special was coming. Then the cast was reveled and my jaw still hurts from hitting the floor. Nolan added some much needed relism without sacrificing any of the thrills you'd expect from a Batman film. This film was dark and grips you tight emotionally, I also think Bale is the best Batman to date. The supporting cast is the biggest strength of all I mean come on Caine, Oldman, Neeson, Murphy, and Freeman, I don't think this movie could have failed. |

Children of Men 2006, R)
Directed with passion and skill Childern of Men is a dark and sad film but also beautiful and touching. A great cast really delivers here, lead by the very good Clive Owen and the always brilliant Michael Caine. There are several great scenes and some spectacular camera work. The ending is powerful and leaves you with many emotions swirling around in your head. |

Pearl Harbor 2001, PG-13)
Most people look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them how much I love this movie and that I give it a five out of five star rating. I saw this film four times in theaters and wasn't bored once and I'm a sucker for Beckinsale. It's true Bay isn't the greatest Director around and you either love or hate his movies but I love most the stuff he does. To really enjoy a Bay movie just let your brain rest and enjoy the fun and entertaining ride. Pearl Harbor wasn't a movie to overthink it was a movie to let your mind go and simply enjoy with some great action scenes and a great love story. |

Star Trek 2009, PG-13)
Star Trek has never been a franchise I've cared much for but this film my have changed that for me. J.J. Abrams gives this film an energy that is contagious and the perfectly cast actors all do an excelant job. Chris Pine shines the brightest as James Kirk he's way better than Shatner could've ever hoped to have been. This film has very few flaws honestly I can't think of anything that bugged me. It was so much fun I can't wait till the sequel hits theaters I'll be there for the midnight showing. |

Where the Wild Things Are 2009, PG)
Spike Jonze has taken a children's classic book and turned it into something so unique and cinematically perfect. The film is much darker and deeper than I was expecting and that's a very good thing. The best part of this film is its look Jonze has made one of the most gorgeous films I've ever seen. Jonze could've took the easy way out and made an easy to swallow and simple kids movie with dumb jokes and lots of cute and predictible scenes. Instead he went with something more complex, compelling and emotionally raw. He didn't turn the Wild Things into a silly kids movie but a fairy tale for adults who may have lost that inner child and also for older kids who feel all this strange and powerful emotions they can't explain. This film was a masterpiece that should be seen by every film lover out there. |

Inglourious Basterds 2009, R)
I was afarid all the hype was going to make me dislike this film I was dead wrong. Tarantino is a master of dialouge and he doesn't disappoint here, also this is another one of his love letters to cinema. The first scene is absolutely amazing the way Tarantino builds the tension to a point that is almost too hard to take. Christoph Waltz steals the entire movie as the 'jew hunter' his performance is frightening and hilarious all at the same time. Tarantino is in top form giving us another one of his brilliant masterpieces. |
