'Real Life' Dramas

I am calling this list 'real life' dramas because they touch base with the basic human condition and are unusually revealing of relational psychology. This is material we have not explored in quite this way before. I think it is a new form of drama in the cinemas

Revolutionary Road
One of the most powerful movies i have ever seen. A story that is commentary on our western society (set in the 50s which only makes it more extreme).
A FANTASTIC FILM! This movie stuck with me longer than any movie has. People either love it or hate it because it hits too close to home for people and they don't know what to do with that!

Nominated for best supporting actor Michael Shannon, art direction, costume design

This movie grew on me as i watched it because there are a few very real and touching moments. It is a slowly revealing film, well acted with a complete and pleasing ending.

Nominated for best screenplay and best actress Laura Linney

Blindness
I found the characters in this story so exceptionally more intricate than most movies. An excellent comment on human nature - the beautiful and the discgusting and the weakness or strength of character that divides us. Aside from the disturbing scenes, which though unpleasant, have their place, an absolutely excellent film!

Wow! An intensely real fim! The relationships and revealing tensions and emotions are so real, you will be surprised a man wrote it! Jack Black does present a man's perspective in this drama with humour but also with utter honesty. My bf and i came to understand eachother better through this film! This movie is ripe with symbolism and is a journey of where we put our purpose as well as the nature of relationships. You must have guts to face some of the very open dialogue and the fears presented. It was refreshing to see a film so open about the melancholia of life and how broken people are, while leaving the end open and with enough hope that you can create it in your own minds eye. The people in this film seem like your own brothers and sisters! Beautifully & impressively revealing!! But, I didn't buy it because it was not something i would watch very often. Not a feel good film, but fantastic to see!

I don't usually like this sort of story, where the girlfriend of the brother gets stolen away, but this one was entertaining in many ways.

Wow! This movie was such a wonderful exploration of dealing with grief! So touching. I highly recommend it, because we all have to deal with grief at some point.
The blend of comedy with grief may seem odd, but it was this characters way of being able to communicate through grief, so though it may seem that Adam Sandler is not being true to the character, that is not the case. Have you never laughed when you should cry because something is so incredulous?
People who think that this movie is not congruent should come back to this movie later on and see if they feel the same way. Tell me a movie that has done better at showing the disabling affects of grief in a way that is not overbearingly depressive and yet still real.
