Katyn 2009,  Unrated)
Between 2.5 and 3. It is good that someone tells the historical fact that happened, but the movie lacks emotion, and it is a surprise, being the director one descendant of the killed ones. The movie is technically perfect, but I would have thanked some more feeling. I suppose this is one of these stories which is difficult to show in cinema, and maybe documentaries are a best environment for them.

Son of Babylon (Ibn Babil)
This movie underlines a social problem that is vividly present in Irak.

Operación E
A real story about a man who gets struggled by two opposite forces he can not control, and who tries to save a child and defend his family as the only truths he must work for. Wonderful interpretation from Luis Tosar.
Extraordinary Measures 2010,  PG)
Lorenzo's Oil 1992,  PG-13)
Among Wolves (Entre Lobos) 2010,  Unrated)
Che: Part Two (Guerrilla) 2008,  R)
Che: Part Two (Guerrilla)
As it happened in the first part, this movie is important by the value of its historical events. The interpretation of Benicio del Toro continues being interesting. The main problem, compared to the first part, is that there are less interesting events to talk about. Anyway, the final moment is critical, as you may suppose. Between 2.5 and 3.
The Motorcycle Diaries (Diarios de Motocicleta) 2004,  R)
The Motorcycle Diaries (Diarios de Motocicleta)
I think I will never forget the moment Ernesto crosses the river.
War Witch 2013,  Unrated)
In the Land of Blood and Honey 2011,  R)
In the Land of Blood and Honey
For what I have seen, it seems more that tries to be a summary of the Bosnian war that a story inside the Bosnian war. It is good that you try to write about an important human fact, but the story should add something more, in order that you do not only watch things to cry about. I would have to watch it complete, but at the moment, it looks 2 stars + half an additional one because of the issue it talks about. I am not going to take part in the polemic about the partiality of the story: probably the plot reflects accurately what happened in one side, and you can figure out some of these things also happened in the other.
The Impossible 2012,  PG-13)
The Impossible
Between 2.5 and 3. Although good in describing some aspects on mutual solidarity among people who were affected by tragedy, as all sad dramas, it is a very difficult story to tell without falling in the absolute pain and the topics.
Diaz: Don't Clean Up This Blood 2012,  Unrated)
Diaz: Don't Clean Up This Blood
My rating is more induced for the denunciation of the facts that really happened than for the movie itself, told closer to the documentary than in a cinematographic way (it would be around 2.5 stars, but with some climax moments).
Hotel Rwanda 2004,  PG-13)
Bayaning Third World (Third World Hero) 2000,  Unrated)
Fair Game 2010,  PG-13)
14 Kilómetros (14 Kilometers) 2007,  Unrated)
Das Experiment (The Experiment) 2001,  R)
Das Experiment (The Experiment)
Not bad as a movie, although it is clearly far away from the the real facts that happened in the real experiment developed by Zimbardo et al.
The Wave 2011,  Unrated)
Gia 1997,  R)
Although reiterative in some moments, I think that was a story which needed to be told.
Hero 2004,  PG-13)
Fat Man and Little Boy 1989,  PG-13)
La banda Picasso 2013,  Unrated)
La banda Picasso
It offers color and a funny environment, but it gets lost in some moments of the pathway. Between 2.5 and 3.
Hachi: A Dog's Tale 2009,  G)
Hachi: A Dog's Tale
I really saw difficult to translate into cinematographic language what is a sweet modern legend about dogs. Most of the time is just a familiar movie, without pretensions. Well directed, but that is all. However, in the last part, when it talks about the sacrifice of the dogs, well, it is just a dog, it looks the typical story, but, translating that in a human story, it would be a great example of loyalty. So, why not 3 stars?
Conviction 2010,  R)
Midnight's Children 2013,  PG)
Midnight's Children
I suspected I was not going to find a great personal story, but, at least, essences from India. I did not find any of them. Between 2 and 2.5.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose 2005,  PG-13)
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Good approach to this controverted real story, trying to reflect the point of view of both parts in the judgment, the evolution of the legal process (mainly, it´s a lawyers movie), and the doubt about certain facts which could be product of paranormal activities.

Taking apart the end (I am not going to tell it), I´ll give my opinion: I would have condemned the priest to the maximum penalty. Unfortunately, we have seen so many cases in which people with high religious values disobey doctors and make patients suffer a terrible process because of superstition and people who think that are over science. The last I listened was about the mother of a girl, who wanted to get the demons out of her girl, and what got out from her body was her own utterus. Be aware of ignorant good intentions...

Der Baader Meinhof Komplex (The Baader Meinhof Complex) 2008,  R)

The Story of Adele H (L'Histoire d'Adčle H.) 1975,  PG)
El Lute 1987,  Unrated)
The Fifth Estate 2013,  R)
The Fifth Estate
As a historical documents, it is OK, but cinematographically, apart from interpretations... It is maybe too close to the real facts to go out from the territory where historical or periodistical chronic can tell the same.
Prendimi l'anima (The Soul Keeper) 2002,  Unrated)
Bordertown 2008,  R)
Of course, to make a classic-thriller-style, there had to be a specific villain in a specific plot. But the movie works as a good radiography of the Juarez phenomenon and the relations between USA and Mexico (in fact, it seems that speaking about how commercial relations between these two countries contribute to Juarez deaths has contributed that this film is not broadcasted in USA cinemas).
Camille Claudel 1988,  R)
Camille Claudel, 1915 2013,  Unrated)
Camille Claudel, 1915
There is a deep-heart interpretation from Binoche and a great recreation of asylums in that time, but there are two major problems: the feeling of desolation and lack of hope is so achieved that the movie is unbearable for a long time, and, also, it reflects a terminal state of Camille Claudel, isolated, depressed and with not spiritual or familiar support. Maybe a few years later in her biography, the story could have expressed more the drama of a woman condemned to death in life.
Diamantes Negros 2013,  Unrated)
The German Doctor 2014,  PG-13)
The German Doctor
The original idea was good, but it takes too much time to develop it, and I do not know if it has been done in the way which provides more yield. However, I add half a star because the real facts it is based on.
Joyeux Noël (Merry Christmas) 2006,  PG-13)
O Jerusalem 2007,  R)
O Jerusalem
Good for the importance of the historical moment it is talking about. The story is also emotive, although it is clear it has been created to use as an example of the circumstances, not as a realistic one.
Amazing Grace 2007,  PG)
Cobardes 2008,  Unrated)
Sarah's Key 2011,  PG-13)

In fact, I have interest to watch this movie, but I do not know if I can stand another movie about holocaust.
