His Picture in the Papers
In this picture, Fairbanks plays the son of a rich food corp. owner. He falls in love with the daughter of another food corp. owner, who specializes in vegetarian foods, and wont let her marry him unless he has a cut in the profits of his father's company. Problem is, he's a lazy bum, so his father says he'll only give him a cut if he gets some publicity for the company. So he goes around looking for ways to get, as the title says, his picture in the papers. This plays out hilariously, as his crazy schemes aren't newsworthy. I really liked this movie, it was a lot of fun, if you like Fairbanks please check it out.

Matrimaniac 1916,  Unrated)
Matrimaniac
Although I love Fairbanks, and he has a good amount of cool stunts in this movie, the story is so predictable and cliched and ridiculous that I almost wanted to hate it. But it kept drawing me back to liking it with the way it handles its ridiculousness and with Fairbanks being the cute and daring fiance. Overall it's pretty good, but it could be better.

Wild and Wooly
I thought it was brilliant how the town in the west recreated the 1800's wild west for Fairbanks' easterner character, I wish things like that could be done more often, I'd love to take part in something like that. Anyway, this movie is funny, exciting, but utterly predictable from the start. It could have been a lot better. Still, I loved Fairbanks' amazing stunts, especially the one where he went through the ceiling. This is worth seeing.

Through the Back Door
This mother and daughter drama is a predictable, yet sweet, story. Pickford does an okay job in a role she often played. The rest of the cast seem to be possibly non-actors, with the exception of Menjou, of course. Overall, it's an okay movie.

The Blot 1921,  Unrated)
The Blot
The romance here is quite average for a movie like this. The actors are average too, no one really stood out for me. Overall an okay movie, not bad but not good either.

Phantom 1922,  PG-13)
Phantom
I wasn't impressed, interested, or put off by this film... in fact I didn't feel anything but boredom towards it. The plot sounds so promising, but the picture doesn't deliver. Even though my DVD was of poor quality, I couldn't get into this movie at all. I expected more from a film called Phantom.

Aelita - Queen of Mars 1924,  Unrated)
Aelita - Queen of Mars
This is the first Russian movie I've actually really liked. It has such cool sets, costumes, and cinematography to go along with it's story! The story is overall about Russian astronauts who are planning a trip to Mars after receiving a strange message from them. Mars is also looking down on Earth, watching them, and the queen has fallen in love with the astronaut. Then there are also some kinda dull scenes about the Russian people, which I don't think the movie needed, but they didn't distract too much. If you're interested in early sci-fi movies please don't hesitate to see this one.

Strike (Stachka)
If Russian or experimental or documentary films intrigue you, you will enjoy seeing this film. If that isn't your cup of tea, don't watch it. Personally I can't stand these movies, they are always about the revolution and factory workers, and they don't have less than ten main characters normally. There needs to be more story and more focus for this movie to be exciting, I think. Overall, it's slightly more interesting than other films like it because of the cinematography, but I still did not enjoy it nor do I think it's a good film, it's just okay.

Waxworks
I really liked this movie, it was cool. Not only does it have three famous German actors of this period, Jannings, Veidt, and Krauss, but it's got a good story and cool sets. This is an expressionist style movie, so the sets are too. They're not as pronounced as in Caligari, but they're there and really cool looking. The movie is about a wax museum that hires a writer to write down the stories of three notorious figures from history, who are part of their museum. We get to see the stories he writes, and the three famous actors play the three notorious bad guys. I recommend this movie if you liked Caligari.

Faust 1926,  Unrated)
Faust
Yes, this movie has cool special effects and a classic tale, but I didn't really enjoy it. The story is great and it could have been much more exciting than what Murnau did with it. I've seen many movies with this same story, so you kinda get bored with it after a while, I suppose.
