The Tree of Life 2011, PG-13)
This film is one of my favorites of the year. Its Beautiful cinematography is not only eye catching but inspiring. The performance's of Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain are both oscar worthy. Terrence Malick gives an amazing directorial performance and the films story line is brilliantly complex. |

The Help 2011, PG-13)
Another film i was not expecting to like however the story and shockingly beautiful portrail of jackson misisippi really won me over. The acting was amazing with Viola Davis Octavia Spencer and Jessica Chastain all standing out as well as Emma stone. This film had a great story that needed to be told and not just in a hollywood way and the help really did that Overall a great movie. |

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close 2012, PG-13)
This 9/11 story follows a boy named oskar as he tries to find the lock to the key he found in his dads closet. On his journey he meets many people who join him on his amazing journey.Thomas Horn and Max Von Sydow give truly exceptional performances while there were also decent supporting performances from Viola Davis Sandra Bullock and John Goodman> Tom Hanks also appears in the film. The cinematography is good and the story was complex however the film lacked in excitment and drama in the middle of the story however it still did remain heartfelt. The ending was one of the best i have seen with a real twist. Overall a great film must see; |

Poetry 2010, Unrated)
This stunning Korean film is one of the most refreshing films of the year. Its beautiful scenery and good spirited main character are masked by a shockingly horrific sub plot. The story follows mijah yang a 66 year old woman trying to write poetry. This movie is not only poignant but the beautiful cinematography reflects the main characters innocence and wisdom. The acting is Great and so is the film. |

Hugo 2011, PG)
Yes a three D Movie has the most nominations. Does this remind you of a film named avatar? The difference Hugo may actually win its nominee's unlike avatar which only won 3 of the lesser categorie's. Hugo is a touching tale of an orphan living in paris. Although none of the performance's were inspired asa butterfield has potential. Martin scorsee does a great job in directing this film and maybe even is oscar worthy. This overall is a solid film and will win oscars one way or another. |

50/50 2011, R)
Heart warming and indeering and yet the concept of cancer, this movie is good. Yes without being depressing this film tells the story of a 27 year old man trying to beat the dieses. Joeseph gordon levitt gives a great if not oscar worthy performance with good supporting performances from seth rogan and anna kendrick. Overall good but at times slightly boring. |
