State of Play 2009,  PG-13)
State of Play
My predicted rating: 3.5

The U.S remake of a British Drama Series, told with a realistic edge and great performances all around, Russell Crowe gives a show stealing performance.

A story of Political conspiracy, friendship, murder, loyalty and power. A fast paced story with many twists and turns.

Milk 2008,  R)
Milk
An extremely worthy tale to tell of the true story of Harvey Milk, Gay and Human rights activist turned politician during the 70?s in San Fransisco.

Yet another great performance from Penn and very Gus Van Sant to bring a controversial story to light.

This is a great awareness story and a legacy that will live on. It also acts as a metaphor for any type of minority, whatever that minority might be.
3
Persepolis 2007,  PG-13)
Persepolis
Totally unique, a film portraying a message that would benenfit many people to watch. Animated in sillouette style, this very serious subject matter is tackled controversially, yet in an educational way.

This film isn?t just about Culture, Religion, Polictics, battle of the sexes or Coming of age ? it?s a combination of all.

Refreshingly unique

An Inconvenient Truth 2006,  PG)
5
All The King's Men 2006,  PG-13)
All The King's Men
With an all star cast led by Sean Penn (who yet again pulls off a great performance), this film requires your full undivided attention. Based on the 1946 novel by Robert Penn Warren this film is a political journey to the top and everything that is met along the way.
6
The Constant Gardener 2005,  R)
The Constant Gardener
The title of this film had really thrown me and it wasn't until I read the synopsis I realised that this film sounded good.

Highly political and some powerful viewing, Ralph Fiennes has a very natural acting ability. Rachel Weiss did seem to come across a bit 'Kate Winslett' in this, but was still very good.

One to get the concentration working an yet another powerful film to be set in Africa.
7
The Interpreter 2005,  PG-13)
The Interpreter
Couldn't wait to watch this one and then when I did I was disappointed, I was totally bored with it
8
The Assassination of Richard Nixon 2004,  R)
The Assassination of Richard Nixon
Inspired by a true story this slow moving films, shows a fine escalating performances by Sean Penn. The angel in which this film was shown was quite unique and a story well told.
9
Runaway Jury 2003,  PG-13)
Runaway Jury
An enjoyable Thriller with enjoyable performances. A good storyline adapted to screen from the John Grisham novel.

Blackmail, corruption and manipulation are the key to this movie.

Not a wow factor film, but an enjoyable one and a recommended one.
10
Heaven 2002,  R)
Heaven
This Itlian speaking film (with a small amount of English speaking) is a little slow moving, but has a very interesting story. Cate Blanchett of course (as always) is brilliant, pairing with Giovanni Ribisi once again, who also gave a great performance.

Ironically there is a sense of freedom found in them being fugitives and the spark between them (in other circumstances) would probably not have ignited

Arlington Road 1999,  R)
Arlington Road
A great start to the film, grabs your attention from the off, it then plods along at a steady pace and then hits you right again at the end with an unexpected ending.

An enjoyable performance by Jeff Bridges and overall an enjoyable Conspiracy/Political Thriller.
12
City Hall 1996,  R)

JFK 1992,  R)
JFK
My first viewing of this film and from others I am led to believe that even the details of the film are incorrect and almost a conspiracy in itself??

As possibly one of the biggest conspiracy theories in history, the film is big in terms of it?s star cast, it?s investigation, the content and script with some dialogue running for a fair while without breaking scenes, (in particular the scene with Donald Sutherland).

Good performances all around and made for intriguing viewing.
