I alphabetize every movie title I own in my complete collection from letters G to M. This list will be updated in a regular basis as I find more titles here.
The show has been canceled, but the adventure has only begun. For four years, the courageous crew of the NSEA Protector donned their uniforms and set out on thrilling and often dangerous missions in space. Twenty years later, the five stars of the Galaxy Quest series are still in costume, making appearances at sci-fi conventions for legions of die-hard fans. A group of aliens who have mistaken intercepted television transmissions for "historical documents" arrive at a convention and whisk "Commander Peter Quincy Taggart" and his crew into space to help them in their all-too-real war against the deadly Sarris. With no script, no director and no clue about real space travel, the actors have to turn in the performances of their lives to become the heroes the aliens believe them to be.
"Never give up, never surrender!" As long as there is injustice in the universe or a distress signal is sounded out throughout the stars as a call for help the crew of the starship Protector is out there to save you while they're in a fight against evil. Lesson to be learned in life, so amen to that. Released on December 25, 1999, Galaxy Quest is a hilarious homage on Star Trek and its convention fandom with references and gags to them throughout plus an alien enemy as powerful as Khan. Since the show's cancellation all the six cast members feel like they were going nowhere in life especially with the jealousy happening between them, but it was the arrival of the Thermians that helped them changed their lives in the time of danger. Tim Allen does his acting performance as Jason Nesmith so impressive in the mission's leadership that he is the self-centered equivalent to Kirk, while Alan Rickman's character is a Shakespearean-speaking, raving egomaniac version of Spock, and Sigourney Weaver is captivating with her blonde beauty. The storyline here is fun to follow for all the action sequences nicely done by the special effects (SFX) used to create the explosions that are so mind-blowing and definitely watchable. For all those things mentioned the Galaxy Quest movie is a great action-packed, comedic science fiction adventure that is a must see for everyone.
Long before both Antz and A Bug's Life became recognizable for my viewing interest another great animated movie had shown me a perfect look of life in an ant colony, only during my early childhood years when I had owned it on VHS. Released in 1984, Gallavants taught viewers that in life you have to work for what you want, as according to the wise old ant Teetor to one of his young pupils, Shando. Shando only wants to prove himself by growing his "kabump"; unfortunately, he still has a lot of growing up to do while dreaming to become a musician. For anyone who grew up in the late '80s and early '90s this extremely underrated and rare gem should raise hope that not only it needs more appreciation for today's audience the message of "Anything is Possible!" should fuel a next generation of thinkers. Its animation style is nicely drawn and painted, and the songs here sound really joyous to make this movie a musical of its time. I may have lost the original copy a long time ago, but when I finally bought the tape again as recently as 2009 it turned out to be an edited version as a parents' guide to teach children traditional values - and for that reason I was so upset over that unthinkable mutilation! When my fellow fans and I really want it all the originally made Gallavants therefore needs a decent re-release on DVD as possible.
Do you believe in ghosts? In this touching supernatural love story the Ghost here in the title is Sam Wheat, a young executive who moves into a new apartment with his girlfriend Molly and is murdered by a mugger on one night. Sam, however, remains in scene and contacts with psychic Oda Mae in an attempt to communicate with Molly, who is unconvinced that Sam is still alive (although not in body but in spirit). He also helps to uncover the truth of his murder and rescue his sweetheart from a similar fate.
Directed by Jerry Zucker, Ghost features great acting performances from the following cast: 1.) Patrick Swayze (Sam Wheat) 2.) Demi Moore (Molly Jensen) 3.) Whoopi Goldberg (Oda Mae Brown) 4.) Tony Goldwyn (Carl Bruner)
Ghost is such a heartwarming romance, with an after-death experience of Sam who contacts with Molly through a psychic. In one of the best chick flick moments ever I like the pottery love scene with "Unchained Melody" playing. And those spirits look real to me! Sometimes I think about my dead grandma or any other "ghost" flicks whenever I watch this.
For Harry Potter and his friends another year begins, and the education in the magical arts continues. The mysterious house elf Dobby warned Harry on returning to Hogwarts yet he escapes to the Weasley house with Ron Weasley in a flying car. Missing the train, Harry and Ron get to school and face strange happenings there. "Mudbloods" (people of Muggle families) are "petrified" by an evil monster lurking in the grounds. When every one suspects that it is him, the trio then set out to find the culprit and find out more than they bargained for: The diary of Tom Riddle, why Hagrid was expelled, and what the feared Chamber of Secrets is.
Directed by Chris Columbus, Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets features excellent acting performances from the following cast: 1.) Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) 2.) Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) 3.) Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) 4.) Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) 5.) Richard Harris (Albus Dumbledore) 6.) Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) 7.) Alan Rickman (Professor Snape) 8.) Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) 9.) Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) 10.) Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart)
"If you die down there, you're welcome to share my toilet." Oh Moaning Myrtle who looks like a feminine version of Harry, that is most despicable but hilarious quote I've ever heard here, while at the same time I can't help how comedic moments made what was a mostly serious fantasy movie. Along with that, I also liked how Ron casts a spell that causes him to vomit; the seriousness, on the other hand, was something I mustn't forget. Chamber Of Secrets gets a little more darker and thrilling than the first chapter of the world-famous J.K. Rowling's best-selling literary (and film) series. Just to let you know that the greatest magician in the world - Harry Potter - is back, my friends! Being wonderfully done, I know that the action got a little better than ever with famous magic duels, Quidditch matches, and spider encounters. I see that the cast mostly comprised of Brits as to keep the faithfulness of the Old English environment of what old world wizardry was brought upon on, and they brought in dialogue in fine accents. I would find those things pretty cool and bloody brilliant! You definitely don't want to miss what I saw as an excellent fantasy epic - be sure to get ready to be amused and petrified when Harry shows himself to be a hero.
The rebellion begins. Play with danger, as everything is about to change. After returning to Hogwarts to begin his fifth year, Harry Potter discovers that much of the wizarding world, including the Ministry of Magic, is in denial about Lord Voldemort's return. The Order of the Phoenix is using its vast array of wizards and witches magical abilities to combat Voldemort. Cornelius Fudge suspects that Dumbledore is using these claims of the Dark Lord's return as a means to overthrow Fudge as Minister. In retaliation, the newly appointed Professor Umbridge imposes strict new teachings and rules, forcing the formation of a club by the name of Dumbledore's Army.
Directed by David Yates, Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix features excellent acting performances from the following cast: : 1.) Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) 2.) Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) 3.) Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) 4.) Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) 5.) Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore) 6.) Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) 7.) Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) 8.) Alan Rickman (Professor Snape) 9.) Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) 10.) Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) 11.) Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge) 12.) Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood)
In the same year when the greatest magician hero in the magic world faced off a web-slinging superhero, pirates, and transforming robots, The Order Of The Phoenix improves on the action than the previous chapters yet retaining the dark look in J.K. Rowling's best-selling literary series. They include subplots of student rebellion and a dark lord's revenge used well in the storyline in addition to more magic battles and references to what The Goblet Of Fire left behind as to recall why the fifth chapter is happening now. I see that the cast mostly comprised of Brits as to keep the faithfulness of the Old English environment of what old world wizardry was brought upon on, and they brought in dialogue in fine accents. With such featured elements of which I find all those things pretty cool and bloody brilliant it's an excellent fantasy epic film so I'm gonna say that TOOTP is my favorite of the film series (so far). And I'm glad to see Harry Potter return to class for the fifth time and show the strength himself to be a real hero.
The magic begins right now. Everything will change for the orphaned 11-year-old Harry Potter, whose wicked Dursley relatives keep from revealing his biggest secret until Hagrid unexpectedly brings him the news: Harry is a wizard. In his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he meets his two best friends Ron Weasley, an expert at Wizard Chess, and Hermione Granger, a girl with non-magic parents. Harry learns the game of Quidditch and Wizard Chess on his way to facing a Dark Arts teacher who is bent on destroying him, and Harry must battle him with the Sorcerer's Stone.
Directed by Chris Columbus, Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone features excellent acting performances from the following cast: 1.) Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) 2.) Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) 3.) Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) 4.) Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) 5.) Richard Harris (Albus Dumbledore) 6.) Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) 7.) Alan Rickman (Professor Snape) 8.) Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) 9.) Richard Griffiths (Vernon Dursley) 10.) Fiona Shaw (Petunia Dursley)
"Wingardium Liviosa!" So it begins the world-famous J.K. Rowling's best-selling literary (and film) series in the first chapter so wonderfully done that among the things I like about Sorcerer's Stone - or if you live in the UK and the Commonwealth, Philosopher's Stone - include the fleet of owls, jellybeans coming in every flavor, Wizard Chess, and the invisibility cloak. And all above them is the greatest magician in the world, Harry Potter! His role is like the Chosen One figure and I can say that Mr. Radcliffe was perfect and geeky-looking in his character. I like Harry's round glasses, but doesn't he look like the reincarnated form of John Lennon? I see that the cast mostly comprised of Brits as to keep the faithfulness of the Old English environment of what old world wizardry was brought upon on, and they brought in dialogue in fine accents. As I watching the movie I saw a Star Wars influence with the battle between the light and dark forces of good and evil and the Dursleys taking in similar roles of the Skywalker aunt and uncles. I would find that pretty cool and bloody brilliant! You definitely don't want to miss what I saw as an excellent fantasy movie - it'll journey you beyond your viewing imagination.
When newcomer Cathy decides to join the boys' hockey team, the sporting community is divided. The coach is thrilled with the talented new goalie, but others aren't as pleased. Challenged by inflexible attitudes and small-town politics, Cathy continues to play with courage, determination, and skill until she is cut from the team. With their championship at stake, the other players stand up for what they know is right and become winners by being true to themselves. They know when the game is over it's who they are that matters most.
"Well folks, we're in for a good game tonight as the All Stars play their championship game without their controversial goalie Cathy Yarrow..." And so that's what the event announcer would say at the start of the game. The whole town of Parry Sound may be not pleased of having a female goalie in the male-dominated hockey team, but the coach hired her even it means nothing against feminism while it's only the sake of the game. Cathy has her reason of playing the icy sport for her experience in past championships, and I think she enjoyed it more than her friend Spear, who has been pressured too much by his father just to bring honor to his family. Just as I recently bought Hockey Night on the old VHS format I was looking forward to seeing it and then learning that Megan Follows (OMG, Anne of Green Gables is a goalie on ice!) and Rick Moranis are among of its cast members. They both did their acting performances very well. I also had no idea that it was an edited version for family discussion (which leaves me no idea why they did that), so after watching it I expect better things if I were to find the original cut. Overall, it's still a very good film for its dramatic portrayal of hockey.
In a town where nothing much goes on a whole lot is about to go down. Released on April 20, 2007, Hot Fuzz was directed by Edgar Wright who also brought us the 2004 hit Shaun Of The Dead. I loved and laughed at all the action, adventure, and mystery combined well with comedy as a hilarious send-up to action flicks with its references throughout. Simon Pegg made his acting performance possible with his Nicholas Angel character - it's Angel, not Angle - while teaming up with his costar Nick Frost, both of which make a real perfect team. When a series of grisly accidental murders rock the village, Angel and his funny sidekick get into the kind of action that blew me away...WOO HOO, GUNFIGHTS!!! That's right - gunfights and never-ending violence overall make Hot Fuzz look like a real good British version of Bad Boys, and even the swan made himself as a real star running around to get picked up while saving the day. Go ahead as you pick up, and enjoy this excellently made cop comedy today when you do.
He can't remember who he is, but if he does, he's dead! And I find this film thrilling and great, with our main character asking himself: Who Am I? Abandoned for dead after a CIA plane crash, a lone commando must fight to regain his memory and uncover an international espionage ring before they can unleash a powerful (and deadly) new energy source. With the aid of two beautiful sidekicks, Jackie fights his way across continents and faces armed assassins. Starring the great performances by Jackie Chan, Michelle Ferre, Mirai Yamamoto, and Ed Nelson.
"It's Turbo time!" A memorable battle roar called by a favorite television superhero for young kids everywhere drives their parents in a mission to shop for the last action doll figurines still in stock in toy store. And for every man for himself two fathers are in a desperate mission of going after the same thing as they race around Minneapolis. One of them, salesman Howard Langston, does that as an impossible dream to fulfill that for his son on one busy Christmas Eve. Released on November 22, 1996 (curse that incorrect info for having 6/1/1997 on it), Jingle All The Way was many of the movies that I enjoyed so much in my childhood years and remembered it for having Arnold Schwarzenegger before he entered politics and Jake Lloyd before he became little Anakin on Star Wars: Episode I. For Schwarzenegger, he is an action hero for comedy that he really did a great job performing in a role of a father who pays more attention to his work than his family as he did at the start, and now that his son wishes more attention from him he would have to live up to his promise. His pairing with costar Sinbad, who plays mailman Myron Larabee, make a great team even though the two often don't get along with each other throughout. The movie does indeed carry the true meaning of Christmas with last-minute shopping in a funny way, with sequences that as fun as an adventure-themed movie but funny to make it more enjoyable. That scene where Schwarzenegger faces off with a lot of Santa Clauses in the warehouse scene is so hilarious that I liked it so much...now that's what I call action! :)
Overall, I can say that Jingle All The Way has all the nonstop fun to be a great holiday-themed movie with a viewing experience intended for the whole family. My message to all of the movie's viewers: While you're racing for the last-minute shopping for the latest gift, don't forget to watch this movie. Oh, and for the majority of critics who trashed on the movie, you don't get presents this year; you deserve lumps of coal.
Kingdom Of Heaven is a great historical epic of the main hero who serves a doomed king, falls for an exotic queen, and rises to knighthood. There's plenty of great action scenes, too. Acting performances are great; Orlando Bloom played his Balian role very well. And this film has historical value of the Crusade wars! :)
"I'm not taking him with me. I'm no good for him. I'm terrible with him. I have no patience. He's better off without me." Joanna has been an unhappy woman that she has had a lot of courage to walk out the door when she couldn't handle her husband's high-powered job hours any longer. Not wanting to be a bad mother she has to take the choice of her independence from her family but she isn't taking her kid with her. The 1979 Academy Award winner for Best Picture, Kramer vs. Kramer has fascinated me for its excellent illustration of switching gender roles and the contemporary issues of divorce. I understood how three important characters have been affected by the separation as they develop throughout the story; Ted Kramer, for example, has frequently been an absentee in the family but later on he does all the responsibilities that he has never done before, and that is being a devoted father to a six-year-old son whom he has to understand every need and fear as he grows up. There is a lot of strong drama emphasized here, as with the scene of the courtroom battle between the former husband and wife as they fight for the custody for young Billy. In addition, the acting performances here are superb that Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep deserve their respective Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards for their strong improvisation of their leading roles.
Overall, Kramer vs. Kramer is an excellent film that would help you see how divorce changes the lives of family members who would take on new duties while fulfilling what they wanted to do for themselves in life. My recommendation is to everyone including people who experienced the similar kind of drama like the one portrayed here.
Somewhere on the other side of the universe, billions of miles from Earth, one family, one pilot, and one stowaway are searching for the only thing that really matters in space: The way home. In the year 2058, crises that would make Earth unsuitable to support life in 20 years cause the Robinson family to blast into space aboard the Jupiter 2, hoping to reach the distant planet Alpha Prime while sleeping in cryogenic tubes. Evil stowaway Dr. Smith, however, attempts to sabotage the mission and instead brings the Robinsons into traveling strange new worlds.
Directed by Stephen Hopkins, Lost In Space features excellent acting performances from the following cast: 1.) Gary Oldman (Dr. Zachary Smith) 2.) Matt LeBlanc (Major Don West) 3.) William Hurt (Professor John Robinson) 4.) Mimi Rogers (Maureen Robinson) 5.) Jack Johnson (Will Robinson) 6.) Lacey Chabert (Penny Robinson) 7.) Heather Graham (Judy Robinson)
"Danger, danger, Will Robinson!" As I open this review with that memorable catchphrase from the robot the only danger I'm facing now is the mostly negative reception from audiences and critics loathing over a puzzling storyline from a poorly written script - but I wouldn't mind at all: Lost In Space even has its defenders and I happen to be one of them since it's one of my favorite movies from my childhood years. It is an excellent re-imagining of the popular 1960s sci-fi TV series, in which I saw an episode before seeing that, and a good example of the future possibilities of space travel. I liked the special effects (SFX) here, especially with the space station scenes where the characters fight the alien spiders and the look of futuristic technology that is definitely beyond up-to-date from early 21st century standards. While no film sequel was ever made there was a spin-off children's book series and I still have the first two books that I bought from the 6th grade. The acting performances were so impressive that I wouldn't miss them after watching them act in all situations for minutes with my favorite starlets Graham and Chabert being a beautiful blonde and a cute rebellious teenager, respectively. Overall, I don't find the movie that bad at all and I now thank Irwin Allen for making the TV series and Stephen Hopkins for remaking the feature in the first place, making Lost In Space a feature film of the ages. If I hear any more critics criticize this, forget them - I'll go blast them off in a big old rocket into outer space.
I saw "Mafia!" two times and liked it for the humor that spoofed "The Godfather" and other related crime movies. It's cool that Anthony Cortino (Jay Mohr) narrates the saga-like story of disorganized crime, which includes his father's rise to criminal power and how he takes revenge against his enemies. Yes...."Mafia!" has the same kind of humor that's featured in "Airplane!" or whatever spoof movie that the ZAZ team made. (This movie was directed by Jim Abrahams, who worked with David and Jerry Zucker in "Airplane!") With the funniest scenes that give the laughs, "Mafia!" is a comedy that viewers aren't going to refuse....and that's the truth.
"There's nothing you can't get from a book that you can't get from a television faster." - Harry Wormwood
Born to completely unsuitable parents, Matilda Wormwood discovers her true destiny as a gifted girl who is anxious to go to school and read books above the elementary school level. She was often ignored by her parents. When Matilda was sent to Crunchem Hall, where Ms. Trunchbull severely punishes schoolchildren through her javelin and hammer-throwing skills and a detention chamber called the "chokey", she befriends the very sweet Ms. Honey. Hoping to put up with the cruelty of her parents and the principal, she exhibits telekinetic/psychic powers that could move objects.
Directed by Danny DeVito, Matilda features very good acting performances from the following cast: 1.) Danny DeVito (Harry Wormwood) 2.) Rhea Pearlman (Zinnia Wormwood) 3.) Pam Ferris (Agatha Trunchbull) 4.) Embeth Davidtz (Jennifer "Jenny" Honey) 5.) Mara Wilson (Matilda) 6.) Brian Levinson (Michael Wormwood) 7.) Paul Reubens (FBI Agent Bob) 8.) Tracey Walter (FBI Agent Bill)
One of my top favorite films that I frequently watching during my childhood years, I find Matilda as a good film adaptation of the children's novel by Roald Dahl (Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, James And The Giant Peach). The subplot with our titular character gaining telekinesis as a result of bad authority reminds me of Carrie, although no bloody horror acts are involved, thank goodness. While I find her punishments insane, the discipline of the Trunchbull is too rigid, too Nazi in fashion. I got surprised when I saw that Pee-Wee Herman guy spying at the Wormwood residence and Jon Lovitz hosting the Million Dollar Sticky; after viewing Matilda, I found it interesting that Mr. DeVito and Ms. Perlman are married in real life. As for Mara Wilson's appearance, she was sweet and cute in this memorable film role, and I'll never forget that. As a notable '90s family-friendly release, Matilda is worth viewing for entertainment.
"When a person is bad, that person has to be taught a lesson." - Harry Wormwood
Only the strong survive. Movie audiences, watch your back, 'cause the Mean Girls are comin' to get you. Cady Heron was raised in Africa and moves to the United States where she learns that teenage high school life is similar to that in the jungle. She then joins The Plastics, the A-list girl clique who represents school royalty and write down vicious rumors about other girls in their "Burn Book". Meanwhile, as she attempts to bring these popular girls down, Cady acts, dresses, and talks like them and even mistakenly falls for queen bee Regina George's ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels.
Adapted from the Rosalind Wiseman book Queen Bees & Wannabees and directed by Mark Waters, Mean Girls features good acting performances from the following cast: 1.) Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron) 2.) Rachel McAdams (Regina George) 3.) Lacey Chabert (Gretchen Wieners) 4.) Amanda Seyfried (Karen Smith) 5.) Daniel Franzese (Damian) 6.) Lizzy Caplan (Janis Ian) 7.) Jonathan Bennett (Aaron Samuels) 8.) Tina Fey (Ms. Norbury) 9.) Tim Meadows (Mr. Duvall) 10.) Amy Poehler (Mrs. George) 11.) Ana Gasteyer (Mrs. Heron) 12.) Neil Flynn (Mr. Heron)
Mean Girls introduced me to how the teen film genre that often features how rich girls who like to talk in slang terms like "fugly" and "fetch" and intimidate innocent people into trouble. It was an excellent film that explores the portrayal of subcultures who dominate the school and their immediate effects, and one of my favorite romantic chick flicks of all time. By watching at this comedic depiction of high school life, I knew it was something that I would've recognized in my own old school days with all the cliques that I've been through during lunchtime. The acting performances here are outstanding, including those of three of my favorite actresses: A formerly cute, freckle-faced girl from The Parent Trap; a Notebook starlet; and a geeky-looking comedienne who would later joke about seeing Russia from her house. Lindsay Lohan gets the most notable credit here for not just being a formerly home-schooled freak but a grown-up actress with the pretty sexy looks, which both contribute why Mean Girls is my favorite film with her. I can say that it's a great high school story, and I'm never, ever going to get tired of it! :)
As a special bonus, here is a list of my favorite film quotes that will keep me awake all night, including: 1.) "There are two kinds of evil people in the world. Those who do evil things and those who see evil things and don't try to stop it." (Janis Ian) 2.) "So if you're from Africa, why are you white?" (Karen Smith) 3.) "Oh my god, Danny DeVito. I love your work!" (Damian) 4.) "Boo, you whore." (Regina George) 5.) "Hell no, I did not leave the South Side for this!" (Mr. Duvall) 6.) "I'm sorry that people are so jealous of me, but I can't help it that I'm popular." (Gretchen Weiners)
Three hundred - I mean, just 13 - of Sparta's best warriors are no match for a million Persians...and for the biggest movies of the year. The bigger the hit, the harder they fall. Spartans are the finest soldiers the world has ever known. The heroic Leonidas, armed with nothing by leather underwear and a cape, leads a ragtag group of 13 Spartans to defend their homeland against the invading Persians, whose ranks include Ghost Rider, Rocky Balboa, the Transformers, and a hunchbacked Paris Hilton. No one is safe when the Spartans take on the biggest icons in pop culture.
"This movie is just a cheap rip-off of '300'." True to the words of Queen Margo, yes, Meet The Spartans really is a cheap rip-off of 300 for its cheap-looking sets and similarly used characters, not to mention that it takes an anachronistic focus to parody the historical (and epic) 480 BC event of the Battle of Thermophylae. Throw in a lot of pop culture references of the time like American Idol and that bald-headed Britney Spears - wait a minute, that was so '07! - but leave out any in-jokes or gags and I can see how corny how this spoof movie really is even though I still like it. When it comes to history the film is way more inaccurate than the real 300; for example, I know Xerxes wore a beard but he did not look like the fat guy from Borat. And who knew that the Spartans and the Persians participated in killer dance battles? That part was so hilarious! (And so does the scene with the pit of death, LOL to that!) I thought it was pretty cool that Kevin Sorbo made a great return to Greek history by acting as Leonidas' loyal captain, having done the lead in the Hercules TV series back in the '90s. Even with the cheap cheese here I still find the movie as a very good comedy that brought me the laughs.
More secretive than the CIA and powerful than the FBI, they're looking for a few good men. They are the Men in Black protecting the Earth from the scum of the universe. New York City is being threatened by a villainous alien bug who has inhibited the body of a farmer. Agents of a government clandestine agency, J and K are on a mission to locate and exterminate that bug before it destroys the Earth while recovering a bauble whose theft has plunged humanity right in the middle of the brink of an interstellar war. On their side is a pretty city medical examiner who has been flashed by K's memory-sapping device too many times.
Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, Men In Black features excellent acting performances from the following cast members: 1.) Will Smith (Agent J) 2.) Tommy Lee Jones (Agent K) 3.) Linda Fiorentino (Laurel) 4.) Vincent D'Onofrio (Edgar) 5.) Rip Torn (Zed) 6.) Tony Shalhoub (Jeebs)
"Anonymity is your name. Silence your native tongue. You're no longer part of the System. You're above the System. Over it. Beyond it. We're 'them'. We're 'they'. We are the Men in Black." The quoting words of Zed perfectly fit with the description of those agents in black suits and sunglasses who dress the same and are told what do in an obscure agency that doesn't even have any ties to any known government agency. I would certainly call that order rigid and collectivist, something that would leave individuals nameless except with their ordered designations. Reminiscent of Hollywood agents of 1950s B-movies they often have a good sense of humor, and I can see how a veteran of a lot of cinematic credits like Tommy Lee Jones could fit into that description. But for newcomer J he has a flippant attitude with a problem with authority, a characteristic made possible by Will Smith who came out fresh from Independence Day, an upbeat rapping theme song for the soundtrack, and a funny moment of being blown away by a little noisy weapon that got me totally amused with laughter. All of those things here are well depicted in this hilarious sci-fi comedy packed with fun action sequences to blow your mind away, alien technology and special effects (SFX) to amaze you, and comedic moments to entertain you. Watching Men In Black for recommended viewing would help you defend your world from the aliens, and when they do come always dress in black with your extra sunglasses. Good luck with that task! :)
"This isn't an intervention center. A beautiful girl can't just give up, there's life after divorce, you know." Sarah Hurlihy is a divorced preschool teacher who has sworn off dating after her bad breakup but finds herself pushed back into the dating world by her own family. Her sister places a personal ad on a website perfectmatch.com for her, declaring that anyone answering it must love dogs despite the fact that Sarah doesn't own a dog herself. When someone intriguing responds to the ad, she decides to borrow her brother's dog, Mother Teresa, and plunge in. Released on July 29, 2005, Must Love Dogs said I must love man's best friend after seeing the trailer for this, especially when I was awed by one of the dogs in there. It does have a funny storyline thanks to its witty script which really features all the cute moments that amused me. Even an all-star cast saves the movie that gives all of their performances very impressive: Christopher Plummer who is Sarah's widowed father and Stockard Channing who is his new lady friend are included. But the real stars who make the perfect couple are the beautiful Diane Lane and the smart John Cusack whose idea of true love comes straight of Doctor Zhivago. Dang, I really wanted to see that Doctor Zhivago movie long after I finish this review! :)
Overall, I can say that Must Love Dogs is one great romantic comedy that is as captivating as a complete blind date, recommended for fans of that genre. Don't you ever miss out as love could be just a mouse click away.
