Nothing short of Amazing.I felt I owed this to my Dad who was in the Marine Corps. He was a Gunnery Sargent forever. He served in Both Korea and the Vietnam wars.He is still alive and ticking and got all his wits about him. After seeing as many war movies as I have I don't see how this man is still as intact as he seems.Anyway He is my hero always will be PERIOD.This movie was spine chilling.I loved it from minute one.Gosh the cast was not only stellar, but dam they were so young.I just don't know what else to say but dam if you haven't seen this one yet you owe it to yourself to do so.It really is something very special.
OUTSTANDING!! Will Smith gives a Stellar performance, this movie does NOT disappoint. Most people would not have half the tenacity and preservation that Chris Gardner has.Be ready to cry this is a true story of integrity, humility, and faith and a man with an unshakeable love for his son,who would stop at nothing until he made his dreams come true.5 Stars all the way!!
I have to say by far the scariest movie I have ever seen. This movie proves you cannot run or hide and that the past catches up with you, there are NO arguments to be had,the facts are the facts the pictures speak for themselves,This should be a do not miss for everyone!
I really didn't know what this movie was about before I saw it,which is a good thing after reading some of the other Flixster reviews now.Anyways I think that this is probably one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen.Keri Russell is absolutely glowing beautiful in this.Jonathan Rhys Meyers equally as beautiful lol and has a really good voice it turns out.The story is very touching very heartfelt,I have not been MOVED by a movie like this in forever.I am not going to shut up about this one for quite a while.Little Freddie Highmore has such a brilliant future ahead of him.I am a huge music lover so this was extra special for me.If you are a music lover sit back and turn this movie way up to truly enjoy all August Rush has to give,it would be a big disserivce not to.It is ear candy so tantilizing you develop this insatiable hunger for more the longer you watch it.Yes it magical,Yes it is beautiful and Yes although it may be a little predictable I guarantee you have never seen anything like this before SEE IT SOON! =)
Well I finally did it,I saw the first Godfather YAY,about dam time I know.My hubby is sure happy.Anyway I guess I can officially call myself and American and a Moviegoer lol. This was really good, kind of hard for me to keep everyone staright and man it was long but very very good.Parts 2 and 3 are on tap for this week so I will be getting reviews out on those soon as well.Anyway I am sure I am the last idiot on earth to see this, but just in case I am not,You need to see this lol.Don't wait as long as I did =)
This is probably the first time I have said this in any of my reviews,I have Never in my life seen acting done quite this well.Daniel Day Lweis was Stellar as always however what Paul Dano brought to the table was very intense! This movie is nothing short of visually Spectacular and and amazing story. You will not get bored,You will not be disappointed,I was glued the entire time **DO NOT MISS THIS ONE**
First of all I want to say Hands down this is the best Football movie I have ever seen.I think we need more stars than 5 cause I dam sure wanted to rate this higher.Friends listen to me,Make this movie a top priority.A true story of a school that lost its team, and a town that lost their hope until one day 1 man stepped up to a brutal challenge of trying to change that town.Matthew McConaughey delivers a Stellar performance as coach Jack Lengyel,he moved his family into the town in the middle of the worst pain and devastation they had ever known, and proved to them as long as you dream, and never give up you can change a team and a town.I kid you not,Man or Woman this movie WILL make you cry! And you will hold your breath until the final moments of this tremendous film, and finally it will make you want to jump out of your seat and with a thunderous Roar Scream "We Are Marshall!"SEE THIS MOVIE ASAP!!
Ahhh Robin Williams,I can never get enough,His talent seems limitless. So versatile in the characters he portrays. This was great comedy covering the surface of the ugliness of the Vietnam war.It was much better than I expected. You should definitely check this out if you haven't yet =)
Amazing! At first I thought it was a little slow, and was wondering just exactly what was going on.But once I got into it and followed it,the story sucks you in,Wow shows what can happen when a person carries a deep dark secret their whole life,Definitely Oscar caliber performances ,great cast excellent storyline. You don't want to miss this one! =)
This was really good.Strong performances and great acting & Cast. The dangerous journey for this poor girl my God!!Amazing how it all ended up the way it did.I recommend this one.
I have not seen a movie that has captivated me like this in a long time.An outstanding cast, twisting plot, betrayal of friends and lovers backstabbing everything that makes a great American movie. This is a MUST SEE!!! A++++++
Whew,Made it through #2 everyone,I knew I was in for a long haul though.I really like this one too.I love how it did all the flashbacks to when Michael's dad was a boy in Sicily and how this all got started.Really good,Again,If you are one of the last few on earth that haven't seen this,I would bump it up on your list.Excellent!
Christopher McCandless: [written into book] Happiness only real when shared.
(In and of itself,How powerful and profound is that?)This is movie was so much more than I expected.A real journey,a breaking free from everything.Emile Hirsch has a whole new respect in my book, any actor thats willing to drop alot of weight for films is pretty dedicated.I also read some other interesting things on IMDB.Anyway this is a very emotionally driven movie. It was so sad at points with his family that was left behind,so utterly broken from his 'disapperance'.Only his sister really understood him.He met some unconventional characters along the way,he had fun,he had an amazing adventure and this man saw things in this world most of us will never ever, even get close to.He found the beauty in the simplicity of just being. This is a beautiful but tragic true story this is highly recommended =)
Good Lord,How excellent is this movie!!??. I remembered things about half way through it and realized I had watched this as a child.HELLO.WTF were my parents think9ing?Anyway such a tremendous cast.God I love Christopher Walken,he is just smooth as hell, and dammmm diddy damm De Niro looks HOT with a beard.Anyway Excellent yet very emotional story of a great group of friends from a small town and the way the Vietnam war changed everything about them.Excellent movie,I can't give this anymore stars,I wish I could. If you have not seen this you need too.=)
Wow so what do you get when you take a story,A Plot and strip down and beat all the "Hollywood" off of it?Scary thought huh?Yes,Because then you are dependent oin2 things a story that can carry itself, and then actors who are convincing enough to keep you interested in that story. Not to mention I have never even heard of the actors that were in this before seeing it.However it doesn't matter something big came from something very small. This movie was likre the little engine that could It's like a present from your best friend that means so much to you,and is so dear, you want to keep it and hold it as close to your heart as possible. If you could just ball it up and keep it in your shirt ,or jacket pocket all day and just take it out and listen, and feel what is really being said here from time to time. How do you explain a movie that is so great and so full of passion, and explain, there are no explosions,no exciting 40 minute sex marathons,no non-stop comedy, but yet everyone should see this.I guarantee there is something in everyone's life that they are going through right now,This very day, this movie will move you,and hone in and kick that very emotion into high gear.I for once and kind of left speechless again,All I can say is the movie is Amazing yes,I say that alot, but saying it here is an understatement. Its beautiful its is simple,it's just like life,Enjoy this one,EVERYONE should see this.Men this is not a chick flick there is a story for you here too,I swear.=)
Absolutely Heartwrenching! I am so glad that you guys send me your recommendations.I would have never ever known about this wonderful movie without having my Flix buddies.Have the tissues ready was right (Alex) lol.Oh my gosh this is so sad.I was ready for sad,not ready ready for a gut-wrenching overflow of tears.A story about a boy that is forced into a parent role of his little (adorable) sister Setsuko due to the death of his parents. He does everything he can for her,but is so young himself, just does not have the life skills,or means to do anything.Through the many bombings they had lost everything it was pretty much the 2 of them with a few stray belongings. But his love for her was fierce, she was all he had left.I don't want to say too much more, but this is such a deep, touching movie everyone should see this.I absolutely recommend this movie be the very next one you see!! =)
I remember I wanted to see this movie forever ago when it came out, just got around to it tonight. This is hands down one of the best movies I have ever seen.A great cast and a great story of a boy that simple just loved to dance pure and simple.I have a huge soft spot for the underdog movies and boy this fits it to a T.If you have not had the pleasure of seeing this amazing film make it the next on your list because it is truly that special.Billy Elliot-AMAZING!
This movie is powerful,,I am now a huge Alan Rickman fan him and Sigourney Weaver are are a tremendous force in this brilliant film. Why did I never hear about this movie till last week?I don't understand why this didn't get 10 Oscars!Amazing ,AMAZING acting on Sigourney Weaver's part as an autistic mother that loses her daughter in a car accident,Alan Rickman (not wanting to spoil anything) is there with her to pick up the pieces of her life. seriously this is a beautiful MUST see film, alot of very funny moments too.Oh,and I will never ever play scrabble the same way again,I like their set of rules MUCH better. SEE IT SOON! =)
Heart wrenching and beautiful,Wow this man had a fierce love for his wife, any woman should be so lucky,I was there spot on with every aspect of this film UNTIL,the adultery although I can understand the loneliness the 2 (other) partners must have been feeling I just was hoping that wouldn't happen.Anyway other than that this was simply brilliant, loved the story I loved Their love and great ,great acting.Highly recommended.=)
I swear I don't think I have seen a more beautiful story about the true meaning of friendship in my life. This movie made me cry me eyes out. This is truly an amazing story ,so much so I will be watching it again before the weekend.I am highly recommending this one.
I have wanted to see this since the minute I saw the trailer for the first time.It was well worth the wait.A little confusing in the beginning ,but it is supposed to be that way.I am glad I didn't figure this one out right away ,I enjoyed this movie all the more for it.Very heartfelt and moving Seven pounds sends out a powerful message that will really make you think about things in your own life. This is a must see.Highly recommended.Oh and be ready with some tissues.=)
Hmmmmm,
Well,Ok I was alllll ready for this hyped up,Cinematical Masterpiece that was going to have me glued to the screen from minute one to minute end? I need to know which film that is cause it surely isn't this one.I am a little pissy that this won so many awards. Before you all get on the hate bandwagon,It WAS good.I just didn't think it was GREAT.Yes,good story,Yes reat cast, all that,no mind blowing special effects,no unbelieveable screw with your mind twist arounds, just a story. It got slow at times,Again,I am sorry for all of those that think this is like the best film since God was a boy,But I seriously disagree. Now that I am almost caught up with seeing all the Oscar contenders,Yeah I just kinda don't get how this ranked so high.I think Atonement was AMAZING!I think Gone Baby Gone was right up there with Atonement.Ok,I feel like I am rambling,Nitty Gritty:Yes its good,Yes you should see it,I just think this was too hyped for me before I saw it,and when a movie is nominated for so much,I am expecting to be either Laughing,Crying, having a heart attack from intense scenes,or jumping outta my chair for an underdog,I just still don't get it.=(
I have such mixed feelings about this movie,Don't get me wrong good story,Amazing visual effects and really excellent sound, that really stood out for some reason.I can see how this little girl would let herself be drawn into this fairy tale world to escape the Hell that surrounded her.But make NO mistake this is not for kids.I was not expecting such utter brutality in a film,The bottle scene with the Captain and the hunters has to be in the top 3 most horrifing things I have ever seen in a movie.I think the Captain got what he deserved,to have his dignity ripped away as he laid dying, and know that his son would never know of his dad's 'honor' and so called great leadership of Spain.Yeah that was a great moment for me.Great movie,I still cry for the fairies though, lol.Check it out!!
Some brilliant films on here.I wouldn't tell anyone to make sure they watch mrs Doubtfire,Life or National Treasure before they die but still....Doubtfire's pretty good.Cool list.
Note:I just found that this feature was even added to Flix,I had no clue all these comments were even here.A couple things,One I don't have the lists in any particular order because of my heavy involvment with the site so don't take the order too seriously. Two,I see alot of you said well what about this and this movie,I have not yet seen all movies, lol.I am slowly getting through them, but I will watch the recommened ones. Thanks for the great comments everyone =)
Not to offend, but how can you include films you've never seen as "must see prior to expiring". I agree witht he comment made about Mrs. Doubtfire and the like. Armageddon was truly terrible. I honestly expected Bruce Willis to mention that Zed was dead.
A few of my favourites are in here, as good as it gets, shawshank, good will hunting; but then theres stuff like august rush???????and national treasure????? Surely if the godfather is in there(too drawn out in my eyes), wheres the classic that is goodfellas???????????(My favourite film of all time)and the departed???
This list started out awesome, but has several "huh?' movies listed. I don't think these movies are worthy: The Patriot (not Braveheart?) Clash of the Titans, the Black Hole, the Santa Clause (THE SANTA CLAUSE????) National Treasure, Gremlins, Mrs. Doubtfire, Gone in 60 Seconds, We Are Marshall
Movies I think deserve to be on a list like this: Platoon, Dr. Zhivago, LA Confidential, True Romance, Cinderella Man, Road Warrior, The Color Purple, The Sting, Unforgiven, to name a few.
oh my god this list is messed up, you dont have bonnie and clyde, roman holiday, chicago, juno, girl, interupted, heathers, west side story, aniie hall, the graduate, rear window, true classics, but you have pay it forward, shaun of the dead, flashdance, the bucket list. come on. you have some great ones on here, but the crap movies beat them on the list.
Great list but it seems a bit long. Anyway thanks for all the good ideas on great films to see before I die. added many to my want to see list from your great comments.
I see some that have expected to see in this list as well as a that me question why it's listed there. Mrs. Doubtfire, National Treasure, Memoirs of a Geisha....(After watching that I did like it but in retrospect I expected more...)
ok just one thing... you have 2 of the 3 amigos (Cuaron, Iņarritu, Del Toro) my problem is that you don t have the best of them..... GUILLERMO DEL FUCKIN TORO!!! END HIS MASTER PIECE EL LABERINTO DEL FAUNO (PANTHS LABERINTH)
THIS IS A FANTASTIC LIST OF MOVIES...SOME I'VE SEEN, SOME I DON'T WANT TO ( SCARY ONES LOL) AND A LOT OF THEM BROUGHT BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES...ADD "A CHRISTMAS CARROL" TO YOUR LIST THOUGH...OTHERWISE A FANTASTIC JOB YOU DID...WISHING YOU AN EVENING FILLED WITH LOVE AND LAUGHTER.....................EYDIE
good list man !!but you can always add more to it like -no country for old men , silence of lambs, illusionist, casablanca ,12 angry men, scarfece, taxi driver ..many others .120 movies are not enough to see before you die i think
I agree with you, but here's a few for your Bucket List: Amistad, Romeo Must Die, Romeo is Bleeding, The Professional, Love in the Time of Cholera, Goya's Ghosts, Age of Innocence,Dangerous Beauty & there is more I think you'd love, but can't think of right now
