  MOVEECRITIC's Rating My Rating
1
Shutter Island 2010,  R)
Shutter Island
A mystery indeed. Shutter Island holds secrets that seep out little by little. Watching without trying to analyze the film makes it all the more suspensful. The plot takes you on adventure that tinkers with the mind then throws you into an unexpected twist.
2
Inception 2010,  PG-13)
Inception
Very ambitious pyschological suspense. The concept is the inception of something big. I found myelf admiring most the movie's architecture.
Nolan seems to have a fascination with mind functions and his imagination is perplexingly creative and original.
3
Alice in Wonderland 2010,  PG)
Alice in Wonderland
A colorfully amusing twist on a familiar story. Tim Burton's depiction of this fairytale is imaginitive yet quirky.
4
Despicable Me 2010,  PG)
Despicable Me
"Despicable Me" is a cleverly animated film where a villain is transformed into a hero. It doesn't try to be sophisticated, yet is content with just being witty and fun. Its characters are infectious enough to make it a likable comedy.
5
Toy Story 3 2010,  G)
Toy Story 3
The gang is back in a comical new adventure where they find themselves on the run searching for a place to call home. It's a wonderful edition to the Pixar/Toy Story movies. Assembled with a few laughs and some semi-tearjerking moments Toy Story 3 makes for a great summer kids flick.
6
Grown Ups 2010,  PG-13)
Grown Ups
Definitely not your typical Sandler movie. Overcasted with comedians and it still falls short of it's expectation.
7
Knight & Day 2010,  PG-13)
Knight & Day
An action-packed comedy filled with knockout (drugged) chemistry that instantly develops between two completely different persons.
8
The Karate Kid 2010,  PG)
The Karate Kid
The original is one of the most memorable films of it's year. While similar, this remake is not as innovating or believable. Yet, it sparkles giving shine to new emerging talent.
9
Valentine's Day 2010,  PG-13)
Valentine's Day
Intertwining love story of 10 people living in Los Angeles who breakup and makeup based on the demands and expectations of Valentine's Day. The movie was a bit stale, by the middle it seemed to run pass it's expiration date. There were so many good actors in this movie, I lost count, I expected it to be entertainingly fresh.

****I actually enjoyed Aston Kutcher acting. It's nice seeing him play a character that you don't remember as a jerk or jackass. On the other hand, Taylor Swift's interpretation of a ditsy, spoiled, blonde teen was unbearable. She should definitely enroll in acting school, better yet just stick to making music.
10
Shrek Forever After (Shrek 4) 2010,  PG)
Shrek Forever After (Shrek 4)
After saving the princess, finding love, and surviving a midlife crisis, Shrek can finally live happily forever after. A nice completion to the orge franchise.
11
The A-Team 2010,  PG-13)
The A-Team
1980s TV show with a modern twist. Does originality still exist?....Yes it's a remake, but where is the zest? The plot is disappointingly tasteless. The film is so chopped and screwed. That's not to say that it isn't entertaining. It's just hard to make sense of what's happening.
12
Iron Man 2 2010,  PG-13)
Iron Man 2
With more characters and a new storyline, Iron Man 2 seems to have lost the spark that captivated viewers in the original. Half of the movie consisted of a showy billionaire (Stark) leaving the audience hungry for action. Not what was expect as a sequel but very viewable.
13
Killers 2010,  PG-13)
Killers
Killers they are, pulling the trigger while the safety is still on, it just can't seem to shoot through it's overwritten/overacted dialouge. What a misfire.
14
Letters to Juliet 2010,  PG)
Letters to Juliet
Steer clear if you have been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder.
15
Robin Hood 2010,  PG-13)
16
Splice 2010,  R)
Splice
An intriguing creation with the ability to rapidly mature in more ways than one. To bad there wasn't more detail given to the nature of the creature as well as insight into its intellectual makeup. Parts of the movie would have been better off edited out due to their graphical and immortally disgusting display. Although there is a cloying tone, the eery, freakish movements and scenes splices through awakening the senses.
17
Valhalla Rising 2009,  Unrated)
Valhalla Rising
Nicolas Winding Renf directs a slow-pace, naturalistic yet grusome adventure. At times it feels as if watching a silent film without subtitles. There is an underlining calmness and serenity in the relationship that develops between the two main characters as they journey from captivity.
18
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time 2010,  PG-13)
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Thrilling action-packed movie. Great screenplay being that it's based on a game that trails the adventure of a prince who partners with a mysterious princess to stop a plot to rule the world which unknowingly will unleash a sandstorm that could destroy the world. A watchable film for the whole family to enjoy.
19
Sex and the City 2 2010,  R)
Sex and the City 2
After procrastinating seeing this sequel (due to critics dislike) I finally sat down to watch. It wasn't the best and neither the worst film of the year but it did fall flat in comparsion to the original and in the expectations of it's anticipating audience. Yes, it's entertaining and there are some great comical parts but it could have been better given its prolonged running time.
20
Agora 2009,  R)
Agora
Faith, philosophy, and physics are put on display in this historical account. Whether religious or secular in nature, all questioning the divinity of life.
21
Ondine 2009,  PG-13)
Ondine
Beautiful Irish fable, so good its almost believable even if only for the hour and fifty-one minutes it gracefully unveils itself.
22
Looking for Eric 2009,  Unrated)
Looking for Eric
Not the best from Ken Loach but there is a humorous tone.
23
Clash of the Titans 2010,  PG-13)
Clash of the Titans
Clash of the Titans, more like a clash of technical difficulties. The film was not made for 3D. Seems as if it was added at the last minute to cover up for it's cheap and unconvincing plot.
24
Dear John 2010,  PG-13)
Dear John
Dear John,
Why is this movie so disappointing? Was it the uninvolvingly dry acting from the actors or was it the unconvincing screen writing and directing? Either way it's a heartbreaking story of two young people who miss out on having true love and happiness.
25
Cop Out 2010,  R)
Cop Out
Cop Out is like a comedic mixture of Blue Streak, Showtime, and National Security. The plot isn't very creative or entertaining and when did they start having kids curse that many times in a movie? I hope this is not a new trend because I don't think I'm ready for that yet. Tracy Morgan is his usual crazy self babbling on about whatever pops in mind.
26
Remember Me 2010,  PG-13)
Remember Me
A simply complex film about the unfortunate tragedies that connects us and reminds us that were all humans living in an imperfect world with our imperfections.
27
The Wolfman 2010,  R)
The Wolfman
Gruesomely boring. There is nothing horrifying about this horror, nothing suspensful about this suspense, nothing mysterifying about this mystery. There is just the titled Wolfman.
28
Repo Men 2010,  R)
Repo Men
In the very near future you will be able to purchase all your organ needs at your local UNION store for around $300,000+ at a 19 percent interest rate. Small print: Failure to pay will result in reposession by any means necessary. After viewing this organ-harvesting gorefest even the toughest "universal health care" critic would gladly sign. All in favor say "I".
29
The Losers 2010,  PG-13)
The Losers
Action packed cat-chase-mouse suspense equipped with a likable cast.
30
The Bounty Hunter 2010,  PG-13)
The Bounty Hunter
A light romantic comedy from director Andy Tennant. This exceeds his 2008 film by a long shot.
31
The Road 2009,  R)
The Road
Another post-apocalyptical film of 2009. The Road is a gloomy tale of a father's love for his son and his quest for survival. The plot is decent but the movie moves at a very slow pace.
32
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief 2010,  PG)
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Great adventure/action flick for the family. Great directing and animation. It's a fun, nonstop fantasy about a teen who discovers that he is the son of a Greek god and must help end a battle between the gods in order to protect the world. A science fiction the kids will enjoy.

*** Would have made an awesome 3D film.
33
From Paris with Love 2010,  R)
From Paris with Love
A young ambitious employee in hopes of a promotion gets more than what he asks for when he's partnered up with an American spy looking to stops a terrorist plot. This is another shoot 'em up bang bang movie which becomes smoewhat boring midway though due to its unoriginality and unrealistic storyline.
34
Hot Tub Time Machine 2010,  R)
Hot Tub Time Machine
An expected yet halarious comedy.
35
Youth in Revolt 2010,  R)
Youth in Revolt
Youth in Revolt is a cute comedy about a shy loner's quest and distructive pursuit to lose his virginity. The film is nothing more than just another teenage "desperation to get laid" flick. It does offer fresh acting delivered on a silver platter by Portia Doubleday.
36
Brooklyn's Finest 2009,  R)
Brooklyn's Finest
Headline: "Brooklyn's Cops Out of Control" is exactly what they are. Brooklyn's Finest display cops as lying, thieving, murdering scum whose only difference compared to the gang banging drug dealers is the piece of metal they carry. Don Cheadle gives a great performance as an undercover cop. Ethan Hawke performance of a hardworking, underpaid, stress out cop who would do anything to support his family was well-protrayed.
37
She's Out of My League 2010,  R)
She's Out of My League
Another average Joe gets the hottie type movie. What sets it apart from some of the others is it's honesty and ability to not be dumb down by over dramatic stereotyping of beauty and the geek situations.
38
The Runaways 2010,  R)
The Runaways
Wow, I thought I wrote a review for this. Well going back into my memory bank...'The Runaways" is a biopic of the rise and demise of an all girl rock band with standout performances from Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart. The characters fill in for the depth-less script.
39
Our Family Wedding 2010,  PG-13)
Our Family Wedding
A spin-off of the classic "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" with a Latin twist. Our Family Wedding is a funny, yet predictable, comedy about people trying to overcome stereotypes and adjust to changes for the love of family.
40
The White Ribbon (Das weisse Band) 2009,  R)
The White Ribbon (Das weisse Band)
A mysterious drama about a small close-knit village's hideous secrets. Great directing by Micheal Haneke. However, it seemed as if the film was trying to go somewhere but never quite got there, leaving the viewer with too many pieces to puzzle together.
41
The Oxford Murders 2008,  R)
The Oxford Murders
"Numbers lie" ..."The truth is not mathematical" ..."It's absurd, confused, random, disorderly, and deeply unpleasant." "Oxford Murders" is all except the latter of these yet its excessive use of symbols, puzzles, and theories does put a damper on the suspense. Although the scientific mathematical terminology is not hard to follow, I question whether everyone in Oxford is really that bright.
42
Nanny McPhee Returns 2010,  PG)
43

44
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll 2010,  Unrated)
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll
"Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll" is everything that its title implies...on acid. Serkis is one passionate performer. Made me a believer and I don't even know who Dury is.
45
The Ghost Writer 2010,  PG-13)
The Ghost Writer
A suspense without the gimmicks where everyone seems to harbor some secret. "The Ghost Writer" is reminiscient to a Hitchcock film. Its draws you in to the very end.

14 Blades
Daniel Lee's adaptation, set during the Ming Dynasty, of a secret service agent (Donnie Yen) in the emperor's court who is betrayed and then hunted by his collegues is enthralling. 62
Furry Vengeance 2010,  PG)
Furry Vengeance
Cinema full of kids laughing hysterically at a bee stung man's bulging belly/butt in woman's clothing. Its sad how low some will stoop for a laugh. If there was a eco-friendly message, it was lost under the un(owl)riginal painful (punch)lines, and un(bear)able jokes.

Why Did I Get Married Too
Tyler Perry brings the laughs and drama back to the big screen with the sequel to his 2007 hit "Why Did I Get Married". The whole cast is back again which is always a plus when creating any good sequel. The storyline continues with a few new twist and a very unexpected ending.
80
Crazy on the Outside 2010,  PG-13)
Crazy on the Outside
A different side of Allen is revealed in his directorial debut. Tim plays a more mature, serious character which contributes to the monotony of the film. Boredom is met with a few jokes but overall it lacks the needed ingredients on the outside as well as inside of a successful big screen flick.
81
Leaves of Grass 2010,  R)
Leaves of Grass
A comedic drama high off the idea of one actor playing dual roles. This wacky twisted story lacked an intriguing, meaningful plot leaving the viewer wondering "what was the point again?" Great flexiblity from Edward Norton as a scholar and a drug dealing hick.

83
The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day 2009,  R)
The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day
An amateur Quentin Tarentino like flick. There is nothing dramatic about this movie. It's straight comedy. You probably won't laugh out loud but you'll be thinking what was running though this director's mind. The set must have been hilarious during filming. If you love the shoot 'em up bang bang type movie with minimal plot Boondocks Saints II is sure to please. I have yet to see the first one but if it's anything like this I'll pass.
84

A mysterious film about a young girl who is kidnapped, raped, and murdered Byatt perverted serial-killer (her neighbor) on her way home from school and goes on to live in this other world. Duplicity
Although the plot is complex, Duplicity is entertaining. Throughout the film the viewer is left wondering who's gaming who. Leap Year
A predictable romantic comedy about a young lady on a journey to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend on leap year day. Wonderful performances by Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick. Up in the Air has the makings of a timeless classic.
96
Salt 2010,  PG-13)
Salt
An "unbelievable" non-stop action suspense. Angelina delivers in this exhilarating thriller, reminding us of her talented capabilities to commit and become her character. Forget the plot, there so much momentum and high-paced action it doesn't really matter. A leap in the right direction of good action flicks.
97
The Last Airbender 2010,  PG)
The Last Airbender
M. Night Shyamalan's adaptation doesn't give due justice to the popular animated TV series. The script, direction, editing, and acting was weak making the film unconvincing and boring. The casting was all wrong which took away from the authenticity. Hopefully the sequel will yield better results.
98

99
Stomp The Yard 2: Homecoming 2010,  PG-13)
Stomp The Yard 2: Homecoming
Too many acting debuts in this movie. STY2 unfortunately doesn't live up to the hype or even come close to its predecessor. From the acting to the dancing something is just not quite right. A dance movie should feature extraordinary and amazingly strong cheorography, not short over-edited boring scenes.
100
I Love You Phillip Morris 2009,  R)
I Love You Phillip Morris
Seen this months ago and still can't seem to write a review. Not my type of movie for obvious reasons, but it is at times funny.
101
The Joneses 2010,  R)
The Joneses
And to think people are actually "dying" to keep up with the real-life "Joneses". Material objects are so appealing yet worthless when compared to life and love. Smart film with fine performances.
102
The Other Guys 2010,  PG-13)
The Other Guys
A much needed comedy after "Dinner for Schmucks". Something to rinse the bad taste out.
103
Paper Man 2009,  R)
Paper Man
Perplexingly awkward. The point of the story is buried under unnecessary ideas. Fortunately, all is not lost. The performances from Stone and Daniels are just enough to take the focus off of this overwritten script. I think the writers' had just as hard of a time as their main character while coming up with film.
104
Centurion 2010,  R)
Centurion
A soldier's unyielding determination to follow his general's last order. Gory tale of war and revenge.
105
The Expendables 2010,  R)
The Expendables
Explosives, bullets, and knives...oh my how this story reeks of straight-to-DVD tomfoolery, with a laugh out loud cast. There's a whole lot of old testosterone aimlessly fighting though flat dialogue. Stallone should have left this one alone.
106
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 2010,  PG-13)
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Funny, original, and a bit narcissistic at times. A make believe game fantasy where the not so cool are cool. Surpassed my expectations by far.

Machete
Preposterous and demented, yet entertaining.
108
The Experiment 2010,  R)
The Experiment
Based on the "Stanford Prison Experiment" it is a decent remake of the 2001 German version, entitled "Das Experiment". A social test giving evidence to how sinister greed and power really are. Some people lose all morals.

Red
An entertaining action comedy. Although its not one the the year's best films, "RED" is fun and quite charming.
110
Predators 2010,  R)
Predators
Remembering now why I waited so long to see this movie. Yes, it is supposely better than the previous "predators", that's still not saying much. Predictable, corny, and boring are three ways to describe this flick. Let the hunt for a good film begin.
111

Get Him to the Greek
A halarious cast with a cool soundtrack makes for one of the funniest films this year. Russell Brand and P. Diddy produces the laughs with this one.

A slow-paced suspense thriller where the audience is left wondering who and why. The plot is at times jaded but Clooney's presence and precision in the film gives a breath of air when needed.
114
Frozen 2010,  R)
Frozen
A life-and-death thriller of three friends stranded in the freezing cold. The dialouge and acting are both dull and annoying. You find yourself playing the " what would you do?" game instead of caring about the fate of the snowboarders.
115

Rabbit Hole
A drama that encompasses a range of emotions. It has the ability to make you laugh as well as teary-eyed while sympathizing with the characters. A raw, well-executed film with premium performances from Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart.

A nightmarish flight ride. The scariest thing about it is that people actually have friends like that beer drinking jerk.
120
Unstoppable 2010,  PG-13)
Unstoppable
Entertaining, yet there is a constant reminder of a certain film which happens to star the same actor. Denzel Washington saves the day from a runaway train again.
121
Buried 2010,  R)
Buried
A small, airless, claustrophobic thriller. This is definitely airtight directing.
122

A intriguing edition to the trilogy.

For Colored Girls
Raw, brutal, and in someways truthful. Many will dislike it, but some will find Perry's adaptation of Shange's 1975 play about different issues that affect women in general, especially women of color to be of relevance.

Seemingly good natured and charming, "I Love You Too" is a romantic comedy examining the concept of relationships between men, women, and friend.
131
Takers 2010,  PG-13)
Takers
A mediocre heist film. No high expectations going in so I really wasn't that disappointed leaving. Only major compliant was the cam control.

The Tourist
A nonsensical plot, filled with notable actors, that leaves the audience baffled right up to the end.
133
The Next Three Days 2010,  PG-13)
The Next Three Days
A lackluster from the start as the director spells out all the details, but mid way towards the end the action picks up and this thriller comes alive. A film that lures you in from the beginning as its slowing plans for the kill.

Emma Stone is brilliantly blunt, witty, and naturally humorous. "Easy A" may not be an unexpected event but it's wicked fun.
137
Tangled 2010,  PG)
Tangled
A wonderful new animated film that is sure to become a Disney classic. While the songs and cast may not be as memorable as "The Little Mermaid" and etc, "Tangled" categorically earns its place among the other Walt Disney "princess" fables.

A flick probably better enjoyed at home when bored or incapacitated.
141
Little Fockers 2010,  PG-13)
Little Fockers
I was dithyrambic about a third installment being added to the Focker franchise, but after viewing I not quite sure what to think. It isn't a horrible comedy. There are some laughable scenes. However, it maybe a disappointment to Focker fans.

The King's Speech
Firth is magnificent as George VI, reenacting the trails and tribulation of a royal public figure during a crucial time in history. Grand performances from Rush and Bonham. By far one of the best films of 2010. "The King's Speech" is a noteworthy historical drama
