Finding Neverland 2004,  PG)
2
Lila Says 2005,  R)
Lila Says
great movie from beginning to end
3
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
The first time I watched this movie it took me about halfway through to realize I liked it. the second time I watched it, knowing from the beginning what would happen, I realized I loved it.
4
50 First Dates 2004,  PG-13)
5
Layer Cake 2005,  R)
Layer Cake
Great music, good story, and an awesome ending makes this British cross of Scarface and Pulp Fiction put the overrated Snatch to shame.
6
5x2 (5 x 2: Five Times Two) 2004,  R)
5x2 (5 x 2: Five Times Two)
Francois Ozon tries his hand at reverse chronology and does an excellent job of capturing the subtle nuances of human behavior and emotion. An outstanding cast and wonderful soundtrack complete the picture.
7
A Very Long Engagement 2004,  R)
8
Meet The Fockers 2004,  PG-13)
9
Book of Love 2004,  R)
Book of Love
Good story, good acting. Great directing, great soundtrack. And a beautiful cover of the titular song before Peter Gabriel gave it even more exposure later that year in Shall We Dance. A highly recommended film.
10
The Bourne Supremacy 2004,  PG-13)
The Bourne Supremacy
Just a notch down from the awesome first one.
11
The Phantom of the Opera 2005,  PG-13)
12
King Arthur 2004,  PG-13)
13
The Grudge 2004,  PG-13)
The Grudge
I don't understand the disparagement given to this film versus, say, The Ring. Granted, the plot here has more loose ends. And casting Sarah Michelle Gellar is a questionable call (though I actually don't mind her here). But at least they used the original director and writer to add a bit of credibility. Both films are slightly better in their original versions, but both Americanized remakes are quite well-done. And from a pure horror standpoint they are both freaky.
14
Imaginary Heroes 2005,  R)
Imaginary Heroes
feels like a remake of the Oscar-winning Ordinary People - albeit a good one
15
Along Came Polly 2004,  PG-13)
Along Came Polly
I found this movie much cuter the second time I watched it.
16
The Village 2004,  PG-13)
The Village
Every time I see this movie I like it more and more.
17
Nobody Knows (Dare mo shiranai) 2004,  PG-13)
Nobody Knows (Dare mo shiranai)
This is not the type of film to watch again and again. It is long and plodding. But it does so with a purpose - to tell the story of four amazing kids' hardships and hopes. It is sad in a way that slowly saps the strength from you - just as it does to the kids' lives. A powerful picture.
18
Collateral 2004,  R)
Collateral
Not as good as I remembered - but still highly enjoyable.
19
Napoleon Dynamite 2004,  PG)
Napoleon Dynamite
you will probably love or hate this movie
20
Shall We Dance 2004,  PG-13)
21
Saw 2014,  R)
Saw
Having now watched three of the movies, upon reviewing this is even more solid than I originally remembered; tight directing and writing. (While entertaining and original, it didn't live up to all the hype I had heard...and I can only imagine that this is the best the franchise has to offer. Perhaps it would've been better if the ending wasn't partly predictable.)
22
The Ladykillers 2004,  R)
The Ladykillers
How anybody can like the stupidest Coen brothers movies and not like this is beyond me. This movie was funny, witty, dark, Tom Hanks spectacular, Irma Hall adorable, and JK Simmons hilarious.
23
Eurotrip 2003,  R)
24
The Librarian: Quest for the Spear 2004,  Unrated)
The Librarian: Quest for the Spear
I'd take this over Raiders any day
25
Earthsea 2004,  Unrated)
26
My Summer of Love 2004,  R)
27
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004,  PG)
28
Cavedweller 2004,  R)
Cavedweller
Based on the number of big-name actors in the movie, and the quality of the content, I'm surprised this has not had more of an audience. While the title is a bit strange, the characters a tad inconsistent, and the music sometimes annoyingly repetitive, I would still recommend this fine little gem.
29
The Manchurian Candidate 2004,  R)
The Manchurian Candidate
always thought this would make a great remake - unfortunately this one doesn't deliver
30
Garden State 2004,  R)
Garden State
Yet another decent movie that doesn't quite match it's hype. I did like the ending.
31
The Aviator 2004,  PG-13)
The Aviator
Not quite enough to push it into the "great" category, but a very well-directed and acted biopic about a certainly very intriguing man.
32
Sideways 2004,  R)
Sideways
A decent film with a very good ending. I don't see that all the hype was justified though. Possibly too slow-paced for many people's taste.
33
Seed Of Chucky 2004,  R)
Seed Of Chucky
Having only seen the original, I was very pleasantly surprised that this installment was even better. Funny and exceptionally witty at times. The self-deprecation was especiially enjoyable. Jennifer Tilly - what a sport!
34
Wild Side 2005,  Unrated)
Wild Side
Very well-directed glimpse into the intertwined lives of two bi males and the transsexual they both love. Ironically, Yasmine Belmadi died in a scooter accident this summer; his character tells Mikhail about a serious accident he had on a scooter.
35
Hidalgo 2004,  PG-13)
36
A Cinderella Story 2004,  PG)
37
A Love Song for Bobby Long 2004,  R)
38
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle 2004,  R)
39
Ma Mere,(Meine Mutter),(My Mother) 2005,  NC-17)
Ma Mere,(Meine Mutter),(My Mother)
Disturbing and perverted, but yet alluring and artistic. Definitely not for the prudish type.
40
Howl's Moving Castle 2005,  PG)
Howl's Moving Castle
After first being exposed to the magic of Miyazaki in Spirited Away, I have to say I was disappointed by this venture. The animation and interesting characters were here, but only near the end did it touch on any of the emotional power that SA did.
41
Die Nacht der lebenden Loser (Night of the Living Dorks) 2005,  Unrated)
Die Nacht der lebenden Loser (Night of the Living Dorks)
Pretty funny.
42
Millions 2005,  PG)
43
A Dirty Shame 2004,  NC-17)
44
Dawn of the Dead 2004,  R)
45
American Crime 2004,  R)
46
The Prince and Me 2004,  PG)
47
Motives 2003,  R)
Motives
The camera work was a bit annoying, but otherwise this was an entertaining thriller.
48
Guys and Balls (Maenner Wie Wir) 2006,  R)
Guys and Balls (Maenner Wie Wir)
This movie was pretty cute, with enough sports action to make it interesting.
49
First Daughter 2004,  PG)
50
Maria Full of Grace 2004,  R)
Maria Full of Grace
It's hard to like a spoiled brat. Interesting only from a technical standpoint.
51
Little Black Book 2004,  PG-13)
52
Riding the Bullet 2004,  R)
Riding the Bullet
The little bit of Stephen King reading I have done has been of extreme quality and you can sense that captured here in the story, but it really took the whole movie to get to that point.
53
Godsend 2003,  PG-13)
Godsend
Interesting concept but fails to deliver. Actually gets kind of silly at the end.
54
Laws of Attraction 2004,  PG-13)
Laws of Attraction
Nothing too special here, but kinda cute. Brosnan and Moore were good together.
55
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) 2006,  R)
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)
Interesting, with a pretty cool ending, but overall lacking in execution.
56
A Different Loyalty 2005,  R)
A Different Loyalty
Every time I thought this movie might get better, Sharon Stone dragged it down like a concrete block.
57
Freshman Orientation 2007,  R)
Freshman Orientation
Pretty typical teen comedy with enough funny lines and cuteness to make it likeable.
58
The Hillside Strangler 2004,  R)
The Hillside Strangler
A disturbingly true account of a serial killing duo. C. Thomas Howell and Nicholas Turturro are amazing as the sleazy, revolting villains.
59
Resident Evil - Apocalypse 2004,  R)
Resident Evil - Apocalypse
Better than the first one. It helped not having Michelle Rodriguez stinking up the screen.
60
Garfield - The Movie 2004,  PG)
61
Eternal 2004,  R)
Eternal
Apparently the bad reviews this film gets kept the writers/directors/producers from ever getting another credit to their names. This is actually too bad as I found the movie to be quite stylistic at times, containing one of the coolest scenes of all-time (the cover shot) as well as some highly-charged erotica. And, in the middle, it actually felt a bit like a horror. The trailer is lame.
62
Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy 2004,  PG-13)
63
Club Dread 2004,  R)
Club Dread
Every time I see this movie I like it more and more. This is one of the best slasher movies ever, and Brittany Daniel is one of the hottest women on Earth.
64
Raising Helen 2004,  PG-13)
65
Gilles' Wife (La Femme de Gilles) 2005,  Unrated)
Gilles' Wife (La Femme de Gilles)
I liked the directing, the cinematography, and even the story - but it was a tad on the boring side.
66
Chrystal 2004,  R)
67
Soul Plane 2004,  R)
Soul Plane
About as expected - mostly silly with some funny parts.
68
Envy 2004,  PG-13)
Envy
Despite the great cast, this simply was not that funny.
69
Saved! 2004,  PG-13)
Saved!
Eh...not my type of movie.
70
Il Cartaio (The Card Player) 2004,  Unrated)
Il Cartaio (The Card Player)
Basically just a better-made rip-off of Feardotcom. But just when I thought the ending was kicking up a notch, it fell rapidly back down into mediocrity.
71
Post Impact 2004,  R)
72
Catwoman 2004,  PG-13)
Catwoman
Not as bad as I expected. Certainly no worse than a plethora of other, more highly rated, films of the same ilk. Probably just a victim of bandwagon bashing. Everytime it seemed to be getting better it would unerringly turn into another music video. Benjamin Bratt was highly annoying, as usual.
73
Stage Beauty 2004,  R)
Stage Beauty
Well-scored and backed by some good acting. Rupert Everett was amazing as King Charles II and Billy Crudup is always the consumate pro who does not get nearly the respect he deserves.
74
Surviving Christmas 2004,  PG-13)
75
Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story 2004,  PG-13)
76
Wilderness Survival for Girls 2004,  R)
Wilderness Survival for Girls
This actually wasn't too bad.
77
In My Country 2005,  R)
In My Country
The balancing ending was the only thing saving this from being complete self-loathing garbage.
78
William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice 2004,  R)
William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice
yet another artsy fartsy remake
79
The Hazing (Dead Scared) 2004,  R)
80
Decoys 2004,  R)
Decoys
Campy, comedic horror. I hope this is supposed to be a spoof of the genre. If not...oh boy.
81
The Intruder (L'Intrus) 2005,  G)
The Intruder (L'Intrus)
While I appreciate minimalist dialogue, and it was cinematographically beautiful at times, I found this too slow and boring.
82
Bridget Jones - The Edge of Reason 2004,  R)
Bridget Jones - The Edge of Reason
Some good music saves this from being a complete disaster.
83
Haunting Desires 2004,  R)
84
The Stepford Wives 2004,  PG-13)
The Stepford Wives
I haven't seen the original, but I can only imagine it's better than this garbage.
85
The Holy Girl (La Nina Santa) 2005,  R)
The Holy Girl (La Nina Santa)
Boring.
86
Birth 2004,  R)
Birth
This movie is just plain absurd, the music annoying, and the
"I-see-dead-people" redux kid overdramatic.
87
The Big Bounce 2004,  PG-13)
The Big Bounce
I felt like I was watching a 5th grade film project. Absolutely no plot or direction of any sort.
88
Oyster Farmer 2005,  R)
Oyster Farmer
This one is hard to call. The plot is somewhat interesting, but overall I found it a bit too strange and a bit too boring.
89
Almost Brothers (Quase Dois Irmaos) 2005,  Unrated)
Almost Brothers (Quase Dois Irmaos)
Lame and pathetic.
90
Blade: Trinity 2004,  R)
91
The Hillz 2004,  R)
The Hillz
Just about as bad as advertised.
92
The Thing Below (Ghost Rig 2: The Legend of the Sea Ghost) 2004,  R)
The Thing Below (Ghost Rig 2: The Legend of the Sea Ghost)
Just as bad as expected.
93
Boa Vs Python 2004,  R)
94
Flower and Snake 2004,  Unrated)
Flower and Snake
This starts out with a modicum of plot and degenertes into fetish porn.
95
She Hate Me 2004,  R)
She Hate Me
Absolutely and utterly horrible. I have never been a Spike Lee fan but this goes beyond his weak filmmaking abilities. Even though there is no such thing, this somehow feels like a bad Woody Allen movie. I love jazz, but it's misplaced use here almost makes me hate it. And then, to top it off, it rings in at almost 2 1/2 hours. Monica oh Monica, what were you thinking? You're so much better than this. Frankly I just can't believe this script ever got sold. Just terrible.
96
Corpses 2004,  R)
Corpses
Just plain bad.
97
The Curse of the Komodo 2004,  R)
98
Van Helsing 2004,  PG-13)
Van Helsing
highly disappointing
99
Kill the Scream Queen 2004,  Unrated)
Kill the Scream Queen
Yes this is a bad B-movie, and no there is no plot to speak of, but I found this satirical story just a bit more humorously entertaining than a typical film of this genre.
100
Blood Angels (Thralls) 2004,  R)
101
Quiet Kill 2004,  Unrated)
102
Rottweiler 1982,  R)
103
Ghost Rock 2004,  R)
