The Prince of Tides 1991,  R)
The Prince of Tides
Well before Bridges of Madison Cty there was this excellent movie...a great love story on many levels. When I first saw it, the twist revealed in the middle was shocking and powerful. Not a big Barbra fan, but she does a wonderful directing job here.

Grand Canyon 1991,  R)
Grand Canyon
I was very pleasantly surprised by this film. Wonderful directing, writing, and cast. Very profound. About as deep as...I won't say it.

The Man in the Moon 1991,  PG-13)
The Man in the Moon
What a pleasant surprise! One of those movies that has a little bit of everything. Reese Witherspoon, of whom I am typically not a fan, is fabulously deep in character and acts like a seasoned pro in her first film role. This is a gem I would gladly recommend.

Shout
cross between Footloose and Dead Poet's
7
Crooked Hearts 1991,  R)
Crooked Hearts
A close-knit family doesn't really truly come together until tragedy strikes. Excellent cast of promising young actors; great chemistry and character development; good story.

He Said, She Said
It started out a bit hokey but ended up being quite cute. I love movies that tell a story from opposing perspectives.

La Double Vie de Véronique (The Double Life of Veronique) 1991,  R)
La Double Vie de Véronique (The Double Life of Veronique)
Having been dazzled by Red, I was disappointed by this production. Kieslowski obviously influenced Jeunet in his later ventures - Amelie and the vastly superior A Very Long Engagement.
27
Doc Hollywood 1991,  PG-13)
Doc Hollywood
Cute 80's-feel comedy.
28
Beauty and the Beast 2012,  G)
29
Out for Justice 1991,  R)
Out for Justice
Yet another predictable Seagal movie.
30
L.A. Story 1991,  PG-13)
31
Barton Fink 1991,  R)
Barton Fink
Yet another overrated Coen Brother production. John Goodman was really good though.
32
Thelma & Louise 1991,  R)
Thelma & Louise
Annoying characters, overrated actresses, lame directing, and an overuse of some horrid music. The only high point was Christopher McDonald - funny as ever.
33
The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear 1991,  PG-13)
34
Bikini Summer 1991,  R)
35
Puppet Master II (Puppet Master 2: His Unholy Creations) 1990,  R)
Puppet Master II (Puppet Master 2: His Unholy Creations)
The acting was bad, but this was fun in a goofy kind of way.
36
Close My Eyes 1991,  R)
Close My Eyes
Too bad with such a good cast there just wasn't much meat here.
37
Dying Young 1991,  R)
Dying Young
While it got better at the end, there was enough sap to brew a fine batch of maple syrup. Julia Roberts is not a good actress; and even less so toward the beginning of her career. And the 80's feel (not in a good way) was made even worse by the awful Kenny G sax solos.
38
Year of the Gun 1991,  R)
Year of the Gun
A surprisingly weak performance from McCarthy, a typical one from Stone, poor directing, and even Conti's score doesn't really fit.
39
The Fisher King 1991,  R)
The Fisher King
Like "Cloak & Dagger" for grown-ups -and that's not a good thing. Jeff Bridges stinks up the screen as he so often does. It had a touching moment in the middle, but that was all too fleeting. How a man who could produce "Brazil" can come up with so much garbage I don't know...
40
Zandalee 1991,  R)
Zandalee
Horribly 80's, with the acting to match. Remnants of "Wild at Heart" and "Wild Orchid" dance in my head like a freaky zombie bash.
41
Cape Fear 1991,  R)
Cape Fear
garyX hit the nail on the head with his review of this film. Surprisingly melodramatic and schlocky from Scorsese, made even worse by the horrible cast (even DeNiro was terribly misplaced). Moreover, there was absolutely no feeling of suspense present whatsoever.
42
Salmonberries 1991,  R)
Salmonberries
Horrible acting, directing, and an almost non-existent plot. Plus the repetitive music and the constant nickname usage was just plain annoying. I have nothing good to say about this movie.
43
Do or Die 1991,  R)
44
Wizards of the Demon Sword 1994,  R)
Wizards of the Demon Sword
So bad it's good. About what you'd expect from a Troma sword & sorcery movie.
