Falling in Love
you can't go wrong with Streep and De Niro
6
Sixteen Candles 1984,  PG)
7
A Passage to India 1984,  PG)
A Passage to India
though long, at 2:45, there is much that is only said between the lines rather than on the screen.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 1984,  PG)

Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes 1984,  PG)

Kaze no tani no Naushika (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) (Warriors of the Wind) 1984,  PG)
Kaze no tani no Naushika (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) (Warriors of the Wind)
Yet another visually stunning Miyazaki film. The heavy allegorical borrowing from many other stories does nothing to diminish the always wonderful message that is portrayed in his movies.

Ghostbusters 1984,  PG)

Hot Dog: The Movie 1984,  Unrated)
Hot Dog: The Movie
There is actually a bit of substance to go along with the fun in this classic 80's comedy.
27
The Muppets Take Manhattan 1984,  G)
The Muppets Take Manhattan
I didn't like this as much as the other Muppet movies I've seen, though the ending and the "Muppet Baby" {the greatest cartoon ever} middle were cute.
28
Birdy 1984,  R)
Birdy
This movie is probably better than my impression of it. Intensely symbolic and allegorical, darkly comic at times, with a strong anti-war message. The ending was awesome.
29
Moscow On The Hudson 1984,  R)
Moscow On The Hudson
Always interesting to get a glimpse of other cultures but this movie was too much like watching a day-in-the-life.
30
Police Academy 1984,  R)
31
Bachelor Party 1984,  R)
32
Blame It On Rio 1984,  R)
33
The Toxic Avenger 1985,  R)
34
Dune 1984,  PG-13)
Dune
Leave it to David Lynch to take an interesting story and make it weird; and to cast horrible actors like Sean Young and Sting. The Sci-Fi miniseries was much better.
35
Romancing the Stone 1984,  PG)
Romancing the Stone
Entertaining; a poor man's Indiana Jones.
36
Splash 1984,  PG)
Splash
Silly, but cute. I like the ending - other than that horrific song.
37
Lady Libertine 1983,  Unrated)
Lady Libertine
Rather stylishly presented soft porn.
38
The Lonely Guy 1983,  R)
39
Against All Odds 1984,  R)
Against All Odds
Jeff Bridges as a 34-year-old WR is about as believable as Warren Beatty as a 41-year-old QB. Unfortunately, while Heaven Can Wait makes up for that with charm, this movie falls flat; a rather weak script and flaky characters.
40
Teachers 1984,  R)
Teachers
A decent seriocomic 80's flick.
41
Starman 1984,  PG-13)
Starman
Yet another overrated Jeff Bridges movie. His being nominated for a Best Actor Oscar is ridiculous. Some decent special effects however, even though they are almost 30 years old.
42
Gremlins 1984,  PG)
Gremlins
I liked it as a wee lad. Now it's just stupid. Pretty violent for a PG movie.
43
Runaway 1984,  PG-13)
Runaway
An interesting concept presented in a stale manner. My man TS never did transition well into film, a break for the Indiana Jones franchise. Cynthia Rhodes was moderately cute, but the highlight was Gene Simmons looking like an evil Bronson Pinchot.
44
Murderock - uccide a passo di danza (Murder Rock - Dancing Death) 1984,  R)
Murderock - uccide a passo di danza (Murder Rock - Dancing Death)
More artistically dramatic than substantial.
45
Cloak & Dagger 1984,  PG)
46
The Natural 1984,  PG)
The Natural
Wow...not much good to say about this one. Robert Redford was nearly 50 in real life and played an 18-year-old in the beginning. Enough said.
47
Alley Cat 1982,  R)
48
Calendar Girl Murders 1984,  Unrated)
49
Up the Creek 1984,  R)
Up the Creek
Classic 80's teen comedy.
50
Hell Behind the Bars 1983,  Unrated)
51
Canicule (Dog Day) 1983,  R)
Canicule (Dog Day)
This was a mess, except for David Bennent who is always fun to watch.
