Ordinary People 1980,  R)
Ordinary People
What a fantastic cast, and a wonderfully poignant storyline. The end wasn't quite as powerful as I remembered it, but it is still is a tearjerker. The beginning of Robert Redford's list of well-directed films.

The Changeling
Long before The Ring, there was this creepy psychological horror film with several goosebump-inducing moments.

Moderately entertaining flick about a small-time gangster's taste of being a big shot.

Dressed to Kill 1980,  R)
Dressed to Kill
Basically a giallo which, if you appreciate the genre for it's stylistic elements, is purely entertaining. And Brian DePalma can certainly set a stylistic mood properly. The many twists and turns along the path of viewing this one set it slightly apart from the rest. I think this is a movie I would appreciate even more upon a second viewing. Now if only Angie Dickinson had learned to act during all her years in the biz...

Coal Miner's Daughter 1980,  PG)
Coal Miner's Daughter
A decent biopic. The first half is quite slow, but the second half picks up. Good acting all around, especially Beverly D'Angelo during her limited screen time as Patsy Cline.
22
The Stunt Man 1980,  R)
The Stunt Man
An interesting movie that never quite gets over the hump. Peter O'Toole, however, is fantastic as always.
23
The Blues Brothers 1980,  R)
The Blues Brothers
I just don't see the appeal of this movie. It's not much more than a BET montage.
24
Cheech & Chong's Next Movie 1980,  R)
Cheech & Chong's Next Movie
This one seems much sillier than the others I've seen. Noteworthy for introducing the Pee-Wee Herman character to the big screen.
25
Carny 1980,  R)
Carny
A moderately entertaining behind-the-scenes carnival film. I didn't much care for the ending though.
26
Macabro (Macabre) (Frozen Terror) 1980,  R)
Macabro (Macabre) (Frozen Terror)
Typically weird and disturbing Italian horror with a somewhat cool ending.
27
Loulou 1980,  R)
Loulou
When French films are bad they tend to be exceedingly boring, and that's what we have here. Not even the redoubtable Gerard Depardieu can bring life to this one.
28
Squeeze Play! 1981,  R)
29
La Bestia nello spazio (The Beast in Space) 1980,  Unrated)
