Predators
I have always been a fan of Alien and the Alien films. Now when it comes to the Predator films, I find them slightly enjoyable, but see them as just another action flick. I always felt that the Alien films had much more within the film, better storyline and the characters were more interesting.
The movie Predators is a big comeback from the disastrous AVP 2, but did not succeed my expectations. Learning that this film was going to be produced by Robert Rodriquez, I was hoping to see more brutal death like in Planet Terror. But here they seem a little tame.
The characters are all good, I found it slightly weird to see Danny Trejo and Topher Grace in the surroundings, but they became my favorite characters in the film. The storyline is slightly a rehashed version of the first Predator more or less and I liked how it made connections with the first film.
Overall, it's okay in my opinion. Not the brutal Predator film I was expecting, but should satisfy fans of the Predator series after it finally gets a film of it's own after the mediocre Predator 2.

The Expendables 2010,  R)
The Expendables
The Expendables is the most Explosive Action Film of the Summer! Sylvester Stallone is basically the King of making an action film so thrilling, which is hard to find these days. The ensemble cast is great within their roles. I thought it was a great idea to bring all these action stars together. The cameo of Willis and Schwarzenegger was awesome, just to see those two and Stallone on the same frame was amazing. Best Film of the Summer I have seen so far.
The only recommendation I had for this film was maybe some more blood/gore. Though maybe that was not the point of this movie and it did have it's share of brutal gore moments, I found it wasn't as gory as Rambo 4. That ending Rambo 4 had was amazing and blew me away, and I felt that The Expendables didn't have the same impact.
Regardless it's one of the best action films in awhile. Can't wait for the sequel!
Go See It!

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 2010,  PG-13)

The Last Exorcism 2010,  PG-13)
The Last Exorcism
CONTAINS SPOILERS:
I'm pretty much half and half on this movie. I'll go over the positives and negatives in my opinion on this film.

Positive: The acting and the characters I thought were superb for this type of genre. They kept the movie afloat. I also liked the whole idea of a priest who is doing scam exorcisms for money and that he has lost his faith. With this character it show struggles of a human being which we can relate to. We all have struggles in our lives, even a priest cannot be perfect. So I felt that all the characters were quite human and realistic. This film also had is share of very intense, creepy moments, problem is what that they were too little or too far in between, most of which we seen in other Exorcism movies. Huge highlight here I think would be the cat scene.

Negatives: I think there is more negatives here than positives for this movie. Since Cloverfield and Paranormal Activity exploded, Hollywood has been cranking out the found film genre, and The Last Exorcism isn't really a good one. It borrows too many elements from previous films like The Exorcist and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, which is definitely way better than this film. A positive and a negative here, the film had some sort of twist that the girl who is possessed gives birth to a demon baby which is thrown into a fire during a demonic ceremony which the fire grows, this I thought was interesting but apparently the film makers didn't think so and they had to have the characters run off from what the film should have focused on and making the film end on an ending that is completely like The Blair Witch Project (The BEST film of the found film genre) People in the audience were like "Are you serious?" and I couldn't help but to say "They pulled a Blair Witch" Now I think Blair Witch Project is a brilliant film and should be seen if haven't yet. I just didn't like how The Last Exorcism copied that ending, which I felt didn't fit there.
By the end of this movie, I am thinking that the found film genre is now reaching it's end, cause I don't think it's quite working anymore. The Last Exorcism could have been way better than it was, not that it is the worst movie out there, just don't expect it to be the best. It definitely kills the boredom if your looking for a little thrill, just at the end you will wish for more. Wait for it on DvD or give it a pass.
Side note, the next found film genre movie is Paranormal Activity 2 and hopefully it will be better than this.

The Thing 2011,  R)
The Thing
A pretty decent prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing, though not as good it's still a good enough film to watch. The acting is fairly good and has some interesting changes to the story line. The major problem is that the film relies to much on CGI. It's disappointing because for those who have seen Carpenter's version knows the special effects are awesome and are way better than anything CGI can do. Overall, solid prequel.

The Devil Inside 2012,  R)
The Devil Inside
The film was decent up until the ending. It kept the realism very high and the acting was very well done. It had great build up then threw it all away on a piss poor ending. Its unfortunate that this movie falls into the category of lackluster exorcism films like The Last Exorcism and The Rite. Wait for a rental.

Underworld Awakening 2012,  R)
Underworld Awakening
The story is a little weak compared to the first two installments and some of the new characters aren't fully fleshed out. But the action is so bad ass. Guns, hand to hand combat, explosions and gore. I had a great time at the theater. Underworld Returns!

The Hunger Games 2012,  PG-13)
The Hunger Games
Teenagers killing each other in an enclosed area and only one can win. Humm... sounds so familar... *cough cough* Battle Royale! Though yes, The Hunger Games is definitely an American rip off of Battle Royale, the book was actually a quite decent read. The film version follows the book quite well, but when it deviates from it, it ends up hurting the overall aspect of the film itself. Also the cinematography in the first twenty minutes of the film is brutally awful. The only positive aspect I can give the film is itâ(TM)s score and that the acting is actually good from Jennifer Lawerence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson and Esther, I mean Isabelle Fuhrman from Orphan. Overall just stick with Battle Royale, this film is only for those who have read the books.

Dark Shadows 2012,  PG-13)
Dark Shadows
The movie is a bit of a mess in terms of what it wants to be. The characters and the story line isn't fully fleshed out, except for an entertaining Johnny Depp and Chloe Grace Moretz. The film does contain the usual great atmosphere from director Tim Burton and a kick ass 70's soundtrack. It just needed a better story. My rating is a bit lenient for a film with problems, but I did enjoy it and didn't get mad at the film.
108
Marvel's The Avengers 2012,  PG-13)
Marvel's The Avengers
