Very disappointing, too many flaws and plotholes. It seemed as if Sam Raimi messed some things up purposely, to avoid the studio wanting him to do another Spidey film. The only thing that redeems this film is how vastly entertaining it was at first. |

Not nearly as good as I wanted it to be. The plot lacked substance and the chemistry between Cage and Mendes wasn't that convincing because of the obvious age difference. Some of the acting was lacking and it was kinda cheesy. The character development for the villains was lacking. I don't understand how the hell Mark Steven Johnson got hired to direct this film. I almost liked this one better than "Daredevil" though, ALMOST. |

Good film, very entertaining. The suspense is great, they did a great job building the tension from beginning to end. The climax was a little predictable to me but it was still good. Overall the concept was pretty original and very interesting, I might look for the original graphic novel to compare it to this film adaptation. Also, I'm definitely buying the dvd when it comes out. |

Decent modern western/drama [Straight-To-DVD] about a Border Patrol Officer whose past as a gangster catches up with him. Good cinematography. Good performances by Cuba Gooding Jr., Omari Hardwick, and Evan Ross. Decent performance by Sharon Leal and Dean Norris. It was a bit slow in the beginning but as it progressed it got more entertaining. The ending could have been better, it was kind of predictable but it was realistic. Overall it's a solid film, with better writing and a bigger budget [which would have allowed for the casting of a better supporting cast...not to mention a score] it would have been a lot better. Cuba Gooding Jr. is still a great actor; he just needs more big screen roles for people to really appreciate him more. |

GoodFellas 1990, R)
I know some of you are probably like: "This movie is OLD!" ...but I hadn't watched this movie from beginning to end since I was younger. I only remembered bits and pieces of it. I had the DVD sitting in my room still wrapped in plastic unopened, and I finally decided to watch it tonight. First off - great writing by author Nicholas Pileggi ["Wise Guy"], good cinematography and directing by the legendary Martin Scorsese. However, it's really the performances that made this movie what it was. Needless to say - Ray Liotta [whose narrating was a little annoying at times], Robert Deniro, Joe Pesci [as Hothead Tommy DeVito, he was definitely the highlight of this film], and Lorraine Bracco["The Sopranos"] were amazing in this film.Overall this film definitely deserves it's spot as one of the best crime dramas of all time but I've honestly seen better [namely Scorsese's masterpiece "The Departed"]. |

(500) Days of Summer 2009, PG-13)
I've watched this film twice now [and I recently bought the DVD] but I'm just now getting around to reviewing it. Very interesting romance-drama/comedy. Great performances by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, very genuine. Good supporting performances by Chloe Moretz [she has bright future ahead of her], Geoffrey Arend, Clark Gregg, and Matthew Gray Gubler ["Criminal Minds"]. Great cinematography, the music is pretty good as well. Great writing [very realistic], I loved how the film moved back and forth in the time-line...showing the dynamic between them, and the ending was perfect. Overall it's a great film [spectacular movie-directorial debut by Marc Webb, who was recently hired to direct the Spider-Man reboot], and it's definitely one of the most intelligent and realistic relationship movies of all time. "This the story of boy meets girl...but this is not a love story". |

I went into watching this film knowing exactly what kind of film it was, so I wasn't disappointed. However, I think with the cast they put together, it could have been a way better film. It's stylish with some good action scenes but it drags a bit. The characters were somewhat engaging but the story seemed a bit rushed, and Bruce Willis' character shouldn't have been the only character worth caring about. I've never read the comic book of the same name but something tells me that the storyline in the comic was probably more well thought out. The ending was a bit meh, the best scene was a brawl between Karl Urban and Bruce Willis. Standout performances by John Malkovich and Brian Cox. Overall it was decent, worth renting if you enjoy comedy-centric spy flicks. |
