Howling IV: The Original Nightmare
This is pretty much an unofficial remake of the very first one but done in a late 80s style as oppose to the early 80s early 70s style of the original. Not bad for for what its trying to do here. I don't know if anything in this series could be as bad as part 6 The Freaks!!!!! This series started out kinda decent then just got slightly worse as the sequels kept coming.
This one isn't horrible but its pretty much just a rehash of part one with a few things just changed here and there, like the woman here isn't a news reporter and thats pretty much it, everything else is almost exactly the same storywise as part one lol.
The effects for the werewolves are late 80s so take from that what you will. If you're a fan of practical werewolf suits and effects and not into CGI werewolves then give this a watch.
This is a good late 80s cheesy horror movie that is a must for Halloween viewing.

Howling VI: The Freaks
You'd think werewolves, circus freaks and Bruce Payne as the bad guy would just scream AWESOME!!!!!! Come to find out not so much. You know a direct to video horror movie is going to suck when they have "Huggy Bear" aka Antonio Fargas as a main character in it biting the heads off chickens. Some of the effects are very cool here for an early 90's low budget effort but the story just forced me to scratch my head wondering wtf was going on. I couldn't stand the main character at all and his whiny 90s sensitive guy who turns into a werewolf routine got old very quick
. The female lead was just a piece of ass to look at, nothing more nothing less. Bruce Payne was pretty good here for what he had to work with but you got the feeling he was cashing a check for sure. The freak parts were pretty much the highlight here because I'm into that kinda stuff. This however was like mixing a movie like FREAKS and the first HOWLING into a blender with some pointless shit thrown on it.
The story barely makes any sense at all, with characters who are as wooden as a cigar store indian.
If you want a good example of some decent 90s practical effects on a low budget this might be for you, but if you want a cohesive story with a clever plot, eh you might want to look elsewhere. I'd say the best way to watch this is if you really want to document the downward spiral of the howling series and notice it kinda ends here. I have heard they rebooted the series or are working on another installment for what reason I'm still not sure of, but Watch this after you've seen the first 5 for the ultimate Cheesy low budget werewolf experience.

Rumpelstiltskin
Great make up, but only so so acting for a lower budget mid 90s horror effort that was trying to rip off the chucky/Leprechaun horror genre. Take it for what it is and you might be surprised with what you get. I kinda thought the almost Brooklyn like accent of the Rumpelstiltskin was a tad bit retarded. The really stupid ways he would kill people, that were like basic cable bad, kinda rubbed me the wrong way.I think almost the entire budget of the this movie was spent on the makeup and the idiotic 18 wheeler chase scene. They sure as fuck didn't spend it on a decent actors or an intelligent screen writer. So pretty much this is a shitty, somewhat decent at times, cheesy shit ball kinda movie.
To end this review on a somewhat positive note.....ummmm this makes a great cheesy halloween party horror movie to watch and make fun of while you're drunk or high off your ass. If you stumble upon this on netflix or find it at a yardsale for 50 cents on vhs,its worth it for cheap entertainment value.
