1
The Godfather 1972,  R)
The Godfather
The most amazing movie of all time. I'm still disappointed that Al Pacino didn't win Best Supporting Actor. Gahh!
I was enthralled throughout the entire thing.
2
The Silence of the Lambs 1991,  R)
The Silence of the Lambs
This is one of my favorite movies of all time, mostly because of Dr. Hannibal Lecter. He is a mastermind that knows how to get what he wants. His escape is one of my favorite scenes ever. Sir Anthony Hopkins plays Lecter beautifully in all his creepiness. The rest of the movie was pretty good too.
3
The Shawshank Redemption 1994,  R)
The Shawshank Redemption
incredibly uplifting
prison break scene one of the best
4
The Crow 1994,  R)
The Crow
Absolutely amazing. One of the greatest action movies I've ever seen, mixed with a dark, foreboding dystopia that seems all too real. Screwed over by most award shows, especially the Academy, this deserved more recognition than it got. Brandon Lee's final performance was thrilling, stunning, horrifying at times, but always incredible. May he rest in peace.
5
The Boondock Saints 2000,  R)
The Boondock Saints
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It has a surprisingly smart and funny script, even with a lot of swearing. The format of the plot was different enough to not be weird but to be a pleasant style. The acting was very good for an action movie, and it has a soul behind it. It's not a meaningless Arnold Scwarzenegger-from-the-80s action movie. It does not diminish over time, and its worth watching again and again.
6
The Blues Brothers 1980,  R)
7
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1975,  R)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
one of my favorite movies, and books, of all time
favorite jack nicholson performance
louise fletcher EVIL
wonderful in the way it makes you think
8
The Terminator 1984,  R)
9
Full Metal Jacket 1987,  R)
Full Metal Jacket
it could've swept the academy awards instead of the last emperor
a disturbing movie that shows how the marines break the mind down until you are only a machine
10
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior 1981,  R)
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
And I didn't think it could get better than Mad Max. Holy crap. This is one of the best movies I have ever seen, and most assuredly the best sequel. And it's a surprisingly realistic dystiopian cause. I love it. Never again will car chases be that epic.
11
Highlander 1986,  R)
12
Jurassic Park 1993,  PG-13)
13
Blade Runner 1982,  R)
Blade Runner
Almost nothing can stand up to this visual masterpiece. Ridley Scott at his best, Rutger Hauer at his best, and Harrison Ford pretty close to hus best. All the director's cuts were a mistake, and the original should have been left alone.
14
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp at their best. All of them could sing quite well, surprisingly. I haven't seen the play, so the story was new to me, and I loved it.
15
Gran Torino 2008,  R)
16
The Matrix 1999,  R)
17
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Absolutely stunning. An adaptation of one of my favorite books of all time sprung to the screen believabely and enjoyably.
18
Beauty and the Beast 1991,  G)
Beauty and the Beast
Absolutely delightful, and stunning on the large screen. Everyone must see it again! Easily the best Disney movie.
19
Terminator 2: Judgment Day 1991,  R)
20
The Untouchables 1987,  R)
21
The Breakfast Club 1985,  R)
The Breakfast Club
Stellar. Absolutely stellar. One of the only truly good movies about high school. It captures everything perfectly. Purely flawless, in writing, directing, and acting.
22
The King's Speech 2010,  PG-13)
The King's Speech
I went in expecting this movie to be overrated, dreadfully boring, but still all right. Boy was I wrong. All throughout, the dialogue was witty, the acting incredible, and the scenework entrancing. While poorly shot in my opinion (Hooper cut off the tops of people's heads a lot, it bugged me), he everyone still was awesome. This is one of my favorite movies of the year. I'm hoping this one will take many of the top Oscars.
23
Road to Perdition 2002,  R)
Road to Perdition
Wow. Absolutely incredible. I wish it had been nominated for more awards, especially at the Oscars. This is a worthwhile movie for everyone, especially those who like mob movies. An incredible watch, the scene in the rain at the end especially.
24
Snatch 2001,  R)
25
Lethal Weapon 1987,  R)
26
Die Hard 1988,  R)
27
Unforgiven 1992,  R)
28
The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1996,  G)
29
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 1977,  G)
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
I loved this movie since I was a child, and it's gotten better as time rolls on. There is so much on living for the day, the innocence of childhood, the importance of family. One of these days, this review will be replaced by an in-depth review and analysis of all the movie's parts.
30
The Lion King 1994,  G)
The Lion King
This was the first time I'd seen this classic, which I've been watching since I was probably 2, on the big screen. Everything was more uplifting, more intense. The wildebeest stampede had me on the edge of my seat, even though I've seen the movie over 50 times. Same with the Be Prepared song. The clarity of everything allows you to catch the little subtleties. I wish Disney would keep on doing things like this, not for the 3D, but just to see them on the big screen.
31
Dead Poets Society 1989,  PG)
32
Rebel Without a Cause 1955,  PG-13)
Rebel Without a Cause
A stellar insight onto the teenage psyche. One of my new favorite movies. James Dean is quite the performer. Shame he didn't make more.
33
Strangers on a Train 1951,  PG)
Strangers on a Train
Absolutely stellar. One of the first Hitchcock movies I saw, and I was shocked. It was purely amazing. I hope all the others can be this good.
34
Real Genius 1985,  PG)
35
The Truman Show 1998,  PG)
36
The Princess Bride 1987,  PG)
37
Young Frankenstein 1974,  PG)
Young Frankenstein
Mel Brooks' best. Gene Wilder is great, as is the monster. Igor of course as well.
38
Blazing Saddles 1974,  R)
Blazing Saddles
Uproariously funny, to say the least. One of Mel Brooks' best, only second to Young Frankenstein.
39
Dirty Harry 1971,  R)
40
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 2011,  R)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
So much better than the Swedish version, in my opinion, this brought forth all the elements of the book into a physical form in ways I thought couldn't be done. Everyone played their parts to the fullest extent, becoming the characters I imagined them to be. I can't think of anything wrong with this movie. AND THE TITLE SEQUENCE!!!!
41
Memento 2000,  R)
Memento
Absolutely stunning, one of the only movies I've had a difficult time wrapping my head around, and I appreciate it all the more because of it. Christopher Nolan is probably the finest director of this decade, and I wish to see him excel even more.
42
Wizards 1977,  PG)
Wizards
The script and storyline is stellar, and it would have been nicer if Bakshi had a higher budget to make the animation more fluid. A cult classic at it's best, and I can see why people wouldn't like it.
43
The Thing 1982,  R)
The Thing
Incredibly well done, and visually upholding, similarly to the other 1982 classic, Blade Runner. Seemingly the concept was adapted from H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness, this movie is brilliant. I'm looking forward to the prequel.
44
South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut 1999,  R)
South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut
Surprisingly good, especially the songs. Like several South Park episodes, this actually makes a good point. It notes how sometimes society freaks out more over language than excessive violence.
45
The Producers 1968,  PG)
The Producers
Uproariously funny. Gene Wilder is amazing, as always, and everyone else can almost live up to him. The humor is quick, and sharp, if occasionally juvenile. But juvenile stuff is still funny. Thank you NETFLIX!!!
46
X-Men: First Class 2011,  PG-13)
X-Men: First Class
Wow. This was awesome. I was stunned visually and by Mcavoy's and Fassbender's performances. This is a worthy addition to superhero movies, probably one of the best yet. Incredible character development, which severely lacked in all characters previously except Logan. Again, awesome. Worth it, all the way.
47
Edward Scissorhands 1990,  PG-13)
Edward Scissorhands
very touching
favorite tim burton movie
original
48
The Best Years of Our Lives 1946,  Unrated)
The Best Years of Our Lives
I was shocked at how great of a movie this is. Themes from this movie show up constantly in war movies, and some of the acceptance things are common. The plot line about Homer is similar to that of Edward Scissorhands. I was incredibly impressed with this movie and I need to get it and watch it several more times.
49
Ferris Bueller's Day Off 1986,  PG-13)
50
Good Will Hunting 1997,  R)
Good Will Hunting
Stellar characters backed by a powerful script.
51
Seven (Se7en) 1995,  R)
Seven (Se7en)
One watcher, but everyone needs to see it that once. Kevin Spacey is a really good actor, especially in this. Even if you know the ending, it's great to see how it wraps up.
52
Aladdin 1992,  G)
53
Casino Royale 2006,  PG-13)
54
Toy Story 3 2010,  G)
Toy Story 3
Pixar's best yet. I was filled with tearful nostalgia all throughout, especially at the end.
55
(500) Days of Summer 2009,  PG-13)
(500) Days of Summer
My friends love this movie, and had been telling me for a long time how awesome it was. I had a small hankering, because it's a similar concept to Annie Hall, which is incredible. So I was sure it was going to be a cheap ripoff of a great movie. Boy was I wrong. This is smart, witty, relateable, and incredibly acted. I like Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance best of them all, and I'm looking forward to more of his works. This movie is for anybody, and it's terrible if you can't at least appreciate it.
56
Mrs. Doubtfire 1993,  PG-13)
57
Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb 1964,  PG)
Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
outright hilarious, especially the character of Dr. Strangelove
is better the second time around
58
Sherlock Holmes 2009,  PG-13)
Sherlock Holmes
I saw the trailer and thought, ehh, it looks like a decent action movie. a fun movie, not a great movie. and then I saw it. there wasn't nearly as much action in it, but more plot and character development and interaction. the signature twist in guy ritchie films was still there and it was great. one of the most thought out and well developed movies of the decade.
59
Toy Story 1995,  G)
60
Sleepy Hollow 1999,  R)
Sleepy Hollow
coloring is brilliant
wonderful performance by johnny depp and cristopher walken
one of my favorite tim burton movies
61
Monty Python and the Holy Grail 1974,  PG)
62
The Jungle Book 1967,  G)
63
Zombieland 2009,  R)
Zombieland
I'd heard good things about this movie, saying it was hilarious and scary, and just downright awesome. I saw it and it lived up to the praise I'd heard about it. Woody Harrelson rocked as a zombie-killing hick, and everyone else was fairly good too. Bill Murray!
64
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 1991,  PG-13)
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
This is one of my favorite Robin Hood adaptations.
One of the things I noticed on Rotten Tomatoes is that most Robin Hoods besides the Errol Flynn one, are poorly reviewed. I loved this one, I loved the Ridley Scott one. This is my favorite Alan Rickman performance, even more so than Hans Gruber.
Please, stay away from the director's cut. It ruins it.
65
Groundhog Day 1993,  PG)
66
Airplane! 1980,  PG)
67
Scary Movie 2000,  R)
Scary Movie
Ridiculously funny. It makes fun of the genre I like least. The first time, and second and third, I never stopped laughing.
68
Arthur 1977,  PG)
69
101 Dalmatians 1961,  G)
70
Walk the Line 2005,  PG-13)
71
The Naked Gun - From the Files of Police Squad! 1988,  PG-13)
The Naked Gun - From the Files of Police Squad!
Similarly to Airplane! and Top Secret!, this is amazingly funny in the most random way. Just as worthwhile as the other two.
72
Say Anything... 1989,  PG-13)
Say Anything...
Perhaps John Cusack's best movie. Funny, sad, and incredibly moving all throughout, this is one of the staples of the 80s, especially the boombox over the head scene.
73
12 Angry Men (Twelve Angry Men) 1957,  Unrated)
12 Angry Men (Twelve Angry Men)
wonderful acting from everyone, story unfolds brilliantly
74
Saving Private Ryan 1998,  R)
75
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith 2005,  PG-13)
76
Philadelphia 1993,  PG-13)
Philadelphia
The most moving performance by Tom Hanks I have ever seen. Everyone was excellent, and I got a little teary eyed at the end. If only there could have been a tie at the Oscars for both Schindler's List and this.
77
Field of Dreams 1989,  PG)
Field of Dreams
Ray Liotta was good, but baseball movies are hard to be really good. This almost made it.

I just watched it again, this being written a few days after I wrote the blurb above, and I recant it. This movie is amazing. Nigh on perfect. James Earl Jones rocked.
78
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory 1971,  G)
79
Batman Begins 2005,  PG-13)
80
Mary Poppins 1964,  G)
81
The Incredibles 2004,  PG)
82
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 2003,  PG-13)
83
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid 1969,  PG)
84
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey 1991,  PG)
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey
I was stunned. I didn't think anything could be better than Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, but I was wrong. Displaying Dantean themes, with the usual flair, I laughed even more during this one.
85
Tootsie 1982,  PG)
86
X2: X-Men United 2003,  PG-13)
87
The Lost World - Jurassic Park 1997,  PG-13)
88
Look Who's Talking 1989,  PG-13)
Look Who's Talking
Absolute fun for the whole family, and Bruce Willis is piss-yourself funny.
89
The Adventures of Robin Hood 1938,  PG)
90
Hotel Rwanda 2004,  PG-13)
Hotel Rwanda
Basically, Schindler's List in Africa. Very well acted and written, and snubbed at the Oscars.
91
Airport 1970,  G)
Airport
I was very surprised by how good it was. The storytelling was excellent, everything wrapped up well, and the acting, especially Helen Hayes, was exceptional. It wasn't worthy of Best Picture, thankfully it didn't win, but it's a lot of fun. I do like Airplane! more.
92
Gladiator 2000,  R)
Gladiator
masterfully directed and acted, an intrigueing storyline and russell crowe was awesome, as well as jouquin phoenix
93
Schindler's List 1993,  R)
Schindler's List
Overly gruesome and gnarly, but it was necessary. Like the violence in Saving Private Ryan. Hmmm, same director. Curiouser and curiouser. Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes were exquisite, and should have won their respective Oscar over Tom Hanks and Tommy Lee Jones. I'm still fascinated on why Spielberg chose to use color for the girl in a red coat. That question will plague me for a while, and I may never figure it out. Not one of my favorite movies of all time, but extraordinarily well made.
94
You Only Live Twice 1967,  PG)
95
The Spy Who Loved Me 1977,  PG)
96
GoldenEye 1995,  PG-13)
97
Better Off Dead 1985,  PG)
Better Off Dead
This is an 80's classic that will no doubt be ruined later by a remake. Birthplace of immortal lines like, "Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn," and "I want my two dollars!"
98
WarGames (War Games) 1983,  PG)
WarGames (War Games)
Excellent movie about the dangers of AI. Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy are wonderful to watch, as usual, and the ending gets intense, more so than one would think.
99
Thunderball 1965,  PG)
100
Minority Report 2002,  PG-13)
Minority Report
Excellently done movie. Based, of course, off of a Phillip K. Dick short story.
101
Aliens 1986,  R)
Aliens
Wow. That was awesome. I watched it immediately after Alien, and there is no comparison. This blew Alien away. Sigourney Weaver was better, and Michael Biehn was good. This is the most solid dialogue written by James Cameron.
