The ending felt pretty rushed and convoluted, but this is just so pretty. I fell in love with all the characters; I could listen to that accent all day, and what was being said would even matter. And of course, I totally love seelies and kelpies and their mythologies. I wish they were more common as characters in contemporary film.

Ugh. Cage is a secondary character, to some tween. They clearly has a decent graphics budget, but the acting is uniformly terrible, the plot is convoluted and whiney... Baruchel is just bad.

Wow. I wouldn't have ever recognized this as del Toro's work. He's grown so much. Not that this is bad, it's just, he's still making normal film at this point, and following what he's been taught, and hasn't re-educated film about how to be film yet. He was still disruptively good when he was playing at their game, too. It's just so not him.
