[on Basic Instinct 2 (2006)] I re-read the script and knew I had to redo it. I later learned the script had been around Hollywood for years, and the movie was a deal-film, which means that nobody really gives a monkey how it turns out, but a lot of people make a lot of money as soon as it's made. It was a disaster. I wanted to get out, but I'd have been sued to death. Sharon Stone lives in a zone inside her own head. She's had to do everything to get up the greasy pole, and having reached a certain age then wonders what to do. It's all about insecurity and fear. And to show she was the star she'd turn up late, not know her lines, she'd make appointments to have her nails done on a day of filming. There was no point in getting into a fight with her, though.

Liked it a lot when I was younger but I now wince at the clichés and the overall Hollywood cheese! Good cast though!

De Niro and DiCaprio are particularly good in this entertaining drama. To be fair though, De Niro had it easy and it was DiCaprio who really deserves credit.

Painfully crap!

A really good film that totally looses it in the last 15 minutes. De Niro isn't up to standard and Forsythe is terrible as Snake. McDormand is wasted but Franco is quite good! Nothing special though!

You've got to feel sorry for Michael Caton-Jones, this film nearly destroyed him. It is a shameless cash in but a really lazy one at that. They couldn't even think of a new catchy title. Sharon Stone is cringe-worthy as she reprises her role, you can just tell she was like that in real life too (Michael Caton-Jones has pretty much said so in interviews). It's all a bit rubbish unfortunately, I should have guessed when the first scene had Stan Collymore of all people playing with Ms Stones lady bits in a Ferrari. Grim thought eh. 2006 was a bad year for David Thewlis too, what with this and the remake of The Omen being the only films he made (not that he's bad in either film). The big problem, apart from pretty much everything, is that it is a British film trying to be big and American, it just doesn't work. Utter nonsense, even young boy who will watch it for only one reason will be disappointed.
