Harold and Maude 1971,  PG)
Harold and Maude
Harold and Maude could be the warmest most heartfelt dark comedy ever made. It is hard not to be drawn to the charm of disturbed young boy falling in love with an old woman who is equal parts wise and crazy. Repetitively dark and yet weirdly likable...oh and it was hilarious...I loved it.

Being There 1979,  PG)
Being There
Hal Ashby made two special movies in Being There and Harold and Maude. Having just watched this movie for the first time I cannot decide which one I like better. This is probably the best acting job I have seen from Peter Sellers. This was a clever movie that stuck to its guns and did more than pull it off. I loved the ending, it is one that sticks with you and leaves it up to you to interpret.

Brazil 1985,  R)
Brazil
A true work of comedic genius, Brazil is as creative and smart a comedy as you'll find. An unsurprisingly mind blowing movie from the most imaginative director the genre, perhaps the entire industry, has ever had to offer. With obvious comparisons to Huxley's Brave New World and Orwell's 1984, Brazil's message gets more realistic as years pass. It really hit home with me and anyone else who gets tired of bureaucratic bullshit which seems to surround us.

A Serious Man 2009,  R)
A Serious Man
Definitely one of the smartest and most well informed movies I have seen. A Serious Man is funny, depressing and the most Coeny of all the Coen brother movies.

Strangers on a Train 1951,  PG)
Strangers on a Train
My favorite Hitchcock movie, Strangers on a Train has everything you want from the master: plot driven suspense, dark humor, crazy mom/unhealthy relationship with a woman, incredible scenes, great/wild ending, and just plain movie art/greatness.. As far as dark humor, incredible scenes, and wild ending this movie has no match. I have to believe that people thought this movie was mind-blowingly crazy in 1951 upon seeing how it ended. Strangers is brilliant dark comedy (the best) and a really fun watch. Hitch being Hitch.

Harvey
Fantastic little movie. What more can be said about James Stewart that hasn't already been said. He could be the best to ever do it and he absolutely owned it in Harvey. Josephine Hull was hilarious as sister Veta. Smiles all around for this classic.
