Gayby 2012,  Unrated)
Gayby
It's absolutely adorable and well acted by Jenn Harris and Matthew Wilkas. It's really campy regarding to the storyline and the fast paced dialogues, but it did not fail to make me laugh all the way through and felt really touched by the relationship of all the characters. I really can see all the characters in my life because it's a film that uses real people and real settings. For an independent film, it's highly enjoyable and didn't even look budget at all. It's really well done and will certainly become a cult classic.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert 1994,  R)
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
Bittersweet and very funny. This Aussie flick proves that Australia can produce great films. The film was a positive representation of the drag queen which was very rare at it's time. All the talks about the sexism and racism was ridiculous, I do not understand why the critics focused only the whory Cynthia. The film was great, the leading characters all wowed me with their abilities to push boundaries. It may not have been done very tastefully, but it's great fun.

East Side Story 2006,  Unrated)
East Side Story
This has to be the best reinterpretation of the classic Romeo & Juliet (with a different ending though) I love the play on West Side Story and transformed it into a gay Latino version, it's really well done. The acting was so superb from all the cast memebers, it also has excellent camera works and script. Don't forget the sountrack, simply amazing. The characters all had interesting development over the course of the film. It's a film that focuses on the Latino culture and the family unit. Each one of the characters learnt something from the experience of love, pain, conflict and salvation. Not a master piece but really well done.

Trick
This is like the best queer cinema gem without any sex, loved the quirky characters and music in the film. The film did not rely on hot actors or fabulous jokes. Just the simple and raw acting was used to bring about the meaning of finding true love. It's such a beautiful film, I loved Christian Campbell and John Paul Pitoc. Tori Spelling was so cool, she played her bitchy character well. The film is so realistic, it's really engaging. One of those films that I would watch it over and over again.

Adam & Steve 2005,  R)
Adam & Steve
I love this film, it's excellently written with good wit. Some scenes and timing were uneven but generally good. A very funny film that pokes fun of pop culture and satirical. I can't stop laughing throughout the film, although I didn't quite like the toilet humour being used in the beginning. Adam and Steve are gonna be a good couple. Everyone did a great job in the film.

Rubber 2011,  R)
Rubber
It's not an ordinary film that you would be expected to watch. The head explosions were absolutely amazing, and there were like heaps of them :D The tire itself has a really good control that made it looked like it is indeed alive. There are so many scenes that made me burst out laughing. The storytelling is quite unique, I loved the surrealism. You either love it or hate it.

Vincent
I see a lot of resemblance of Vincent in myself. I love Vincent, it's a fantastic tribute to Vincent Price, my favourite horror film actor. It's just so beautiful, I loved it to bits.

But I'm A Cheerleader
Beautiful scenery, distinctive characters, however the dialogue seems a bit immature

Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds
Better than the first one, offers lots of funny lines in this second instalment. Acting has been much improved from the first film

Were the World Mine 2008,  Unrated)
Were the World Mine
First of all, this is a really clever film, why wouldn't someone try to make a love potion? This is one of the sweetest independent film I've seen, the numbers were really good, sung by talented cast. Secondly, the acting by Wendy Robie saved the entire film, without her this would be another cheap looking film, but she really proved her acting ability. The gay guys couldn't act straight, that's I am saying. I am sure we've all learnt something today. Clap your hands if we'd be friends.

Broderskab (Brotherhood) 2010,  Unrated)
Broderskab (Brotherhood)
One of the most beautiful films I've ever seen, I loved it to bits. Everyone acted so well in the film, the story was cross over of American History X and Brokeback Mountain with an anti climax. I was just so glad to see such an amazing film, blending two of my favourite genres together. Well Done Nicolo Donato!!!!

All You Need is Love - Meine Schwiegertochter ist ein Mann 2009,  Unrated)
All You Need is Love - Meine Schwiegertochter ist ein Mann
This is one funny German film, I love the direction from the director. It's fast, awkward and romantic. The acting was really good, and the setting of a little homophobic German village is hilarious, I love it.

The Craft 1996,  R)
The Craft
It's an excellent young adult supernatural drama, it's not as scary as it should have been. But the storyline is fantastic, a lot of the irony were used in the film, the juxtaposition of good and bad was really effective. If the plot holes were fixed the film could have been better.

The Little Shop of Horrors 1960,  R)
The Little Shop of Horrors
It's an actually pretty impressive film, shot in only 2 days. The film's black humour was just about right for my liking, it's also a treat to see Jack Nicholson too. One of the best low budget films ever.

No Skin Off My Ass 1992,  Unrated)
No Skin Off My Ass
No Skin Off My Ass is by far one of the best cult films I have seen. The film was shot in black and white, contrasting music (including a song about "Hot Skinheads") montages consist of weird camera angles that represented the mixed emotions of the protagonist. The film starts of in a Mondo Trasho like fashion with no dialogues and only lyrics to display the main theme of the film. The opening sequence seems very flimsy and peeping tom like, it was very artistic I must admit. I really liked the rapid jump cuts that really made you feel like you are having this massive crush on someone.

Then you are introduced to the main characters: A gay hairdresser who has a crush on a skinhead, then he invites him home to make him "warm" with hilarious consequences (Narrated by the hairdresser) The set was absolutely stunning, it paid homage the German Expressionism. It just seemed so natural, but not realistic. The costumes were very stereotypical, not to mention the stock dialogues that made the film seem tawdry.

I really liked the subtle eroticism, everything is highly sexual and yet you don't see much if you do not what you have just watched. The water splashing, television statics and the sound of music playing at the background is actually all very sexual. However, this is only the first part of the film, the rest is porn..

Some of the body shots may be a little bit lengthy, but that's the point of the film, you are viewing the the world as both the hairdresser and the skinhead alternatively, you are listening to the songs that symbolise what they thought of a particular situation.

I don't see this film being a comedy, it's more of a new wave of post modernism and the conflicts between the politics and society. Maybe I am being a little biased here because I can relate to the filming style but I can assure you it's not a film that everyone would enjoy

Yossi and Jagger 2003,  R)
Yossi and Jagger
This Israeli film has got all the love and charms you need to feel good when you are down. Set in the Isreali Defense Force, you've got two soldiers that are closeted homosexuals that cannot express their love to each other, on top of this, the hardship of war made their situation even tougher. It's a cute independent drama that features adequate acting and a bitter sweet ending.
