Hotaru no haka (Grave of the Fireflies) 1988, Unrated)
You have to see this film and it's amazing without a doubts, but if you only are looking for two hours for cry, it´s not for you. By far is the saddest movie that I've ever seen, and I cried like a little baby, but don't go to see it expecting to cry, this is the worst thing that you can do, as same as go to see a horror movie expecting that it's going to scare you to death, it's not going to happen and you won't enjoy it, just see it and try to get involved with the characters, and for sure you'll see yourself immobilized, overwhelmed and why not crying. It's a excelent and different way to see the war through cartoons, but you won't realize thar the war is bad... that is obvious for everybody. |

Battle Royale 3D 2001, Unrated)
Asombrosa!

Three...Extremes (Saam gaang yi) 2004, R)
What a movie! but certainly it's not for everyone, only if you really enjoy the "weird" (what a unfair word, but a lot of people thinks that this kind of movies are weird) movies made by the brilliant Asians you will love it... this is a perfect representation of what the wonderful Asian horror is about. |

Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters) 2003, R)
The Asians are geniuses for this genre, but before to watch it, be sure to develop properly your concentration skills, and if you have to see it two or three times, do it, you'll enjoy every time and new details will be discovered for sure. (I hopefully expect that the American remake doesn't ruin this wonderful job) |

Visitor Q (Bijitâ Q) 2001, R)
Everything is wrong with this movie, its humor is over the top, however, Miike is a crazy fearless genius, so even when I were wondering during the whole movie ¿what the hell is going on with this film? I enjoyed it a little bit as well as the perfect operation of this weird family (¿should I be worried about it?). |

In the Realm of the Senses 2009, NC-17)
This is a real love story full of metaphors, but too way different from the romanticism that the people are used to see in common films, this one takes the sex as main element to express the feelings (in a obssesive and perturbing way, which is the more interesting thing about the movie, but not the only one) but, once again, it does not in a commercial or usual way, just sex in their more pure expression. In this way, it's recommendable if you are tired to see the same love stories without a real sense of humanity. |

Suicide Club 2002, R)
WTF??? This movie is so funny, bizarre and crazy, even though the performances are terrible (only Ryo Ishibashi and the crazy dude who kills for joy make a decent work) but this aspect is pointless before a weird story with no sense at all, but strangely entertaining. Definitively worth to watch, you will either laugh to death or wonder all the time with a creepy smile in your face ¿What the hell is wrong with this twisted-mind fu***d Japanese people? That sensation of perplexity is unique, and only the Asian are able to provide it, so don't miss it! |
