Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004,  PG)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
This is so much better than the first two. Everything was undoubtedly great! This film is flawless. I loved everything about it. It's amazing. It has improved a lot. Every little thing from start to finish are far off better than the first two. The first two were brilliant, but this is much more. I never knew that I'd live to see this. I don't know what else to say. I'm deeply impressed by this film. Words will never be enough to express its brilliance. A great evolution of story. Better characters and storyline.

The Passion of the Christ 2004,  R)
The Passion of the Christ
One of the best religious films ever! Mel Gibson did great. This one is overwhelming with sadness and emotion. After I watched this, I realized more deeply the sacrifices Jesus did and the pain he suffered just to save us from our sins. This is such a brilliant film about Christ. There are a lot of sad films in which I also felt the emotion of those masterpieces but this is the only film that made tears rush down my cheeks.
3
The Terminal 2004,  PG-13)
The Terminal
Viktor Navorski lives in an airport. Yes, after literally losing his country while on flight, he finds himself stuck in the JFK airport. Frank Dixon, the head, thought that if he leaves Navorski there, he would eventually escape to New York and become someone else's problem. But, he was wrong. Navorski is an honest man and will be waiting until he's free to leave.

It got good shots of comedy, drama and romance. The Hanks and Zeta-Jones team-up is good addition to the story, not misleading the film to its real purpose. It's a Spielberg work and it's a really funny and light movie, with the right doses of sentiments in some scenes. It may not be as big and celebrated as the other Hanks-Spielberg collaborations such as the funny and humorous Catch Me If You Can or as groundbreaking as Saving Private Ryan, but, it's still a movie that captivated me a lot.

Tom Hanks was really believable and fascinating. The colorful people around also alleviated the film. Many movies are vying to be groundbreaking, rare, notable and revolutionary. Those are the kind of movies we usually set our eyes on. Yet sometimes, we just want to lay back and feel good, so we go see The Terminal.

Philadelphia 1993,  PG-13)
Philadelphia
The movie throws us into a world of pain and prejudice. It was the best gay film I've ever seen (actually, the best out of two but I'm pretty sure it's one of the best out there). A heavy emotional drive even though you're not gay and you don't have AIDS. Tom Hanks was such a convincing and talented actor. I really look up to him especially in the scene where he said that he likes opera songs and actually sung with overflowing emotion and heartache. Banderas was also an effective one. Though he and Hanks never did something intimate, you could somehow feel the love they share. A very timely film during that period where AIDS was disdained instead of being cured, and the gays have no place in the society.

A really important film for those with that illness without cure and most especially for those unaccepted, judged, hopeless and downhearted.

Finding Neverland 2004,  PG)
Finding Neverland
"How far can your imagination take you?"

When the acclaimed playwright Sir James Matthew Barry was beginning to lose is touch, a family came into his life. It may seem wrong, but Barry loved the widowed Sylvia Llewelyn Davies and her children. He became quite close with the family which is frowned upon by some people in their lives especially of Sylvia's mother and occasionally, Peter.

This film opens the story of how the world-famous classic, Peter Pan, came to life. It was really beautiful and touching. Superb performances from Kate Winslet, Freddie Highmore and Johnny Depp. It was really moving especially for Barry. He just loved. But in the end, he lost his wife, his new-found family and the love of his life.

Sylvia and James were like Peter and Wendy. They were in each other's company for a while, the greatest times of their lives. But, the truth is they're never meant to be together.

Dead Poets Society 1989,  PG)
Dead Poets Society
A very astonishing film. Everything was great. The story, the cast, how the film was carried out, everything. Robin Williams did a really good job and so as the other characters. I fell in love with this film and I'll never fall out of love. This is a very inspiring film and one of the most unforgettable movies I've ever seen. This is a certified must-see and undoubtedly a masterpiece.

The Green Mile 1999,  R)
The Green Mile
Perhaps the best movie adaptation from a Stephen King novel ever. The production staff and the cast made another piece of art. The movie is heavy for me. It's not something wherein you could possibly relax wile watching. The lives of every character, little or great, were remarkable. Tom Hanks is always great. Michael Clarke Duncan surely deserves the Oscar nod.

Really interesting and never dull. There are times that miracles happen in the places we never thought of and with the persons we least expected.

Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella) 1997,  PG-13)
Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella)
A beautiful masterpiece about the Second World War from a slightly different point of view. It presents a fable filled with imagination, courage, hope and love in the dark and harsh reality of the war.

The story was exceptional and so were the actors. Roberto Benigni was really convincing and even more superb thinking that he also directed the film. In less than two hours, it was able to show the terrors the Jews had to suffer at war, the radiant and tender Juliet-and-Romeo-like romance between a despised Jew and a well-heeled Italian, the enduring faith and hope of a mother, and the undying and unconditional love a father could ever give.

Actually, this film's a school project. So, I didn't intend to watch it. It was already late at night when I viewed it because it had to be passed the next day. I was really sleepy and I was sure that this film is boring. I found it somehow boring during the first few minutes, but the rest was marvel. It was really creative, moving and inspiring. I must say that it is a tear-jerking historical tale that will surely leave a mark on your heart.

Beyond the condemnation, beyond the war, beyond all the burdens, beyond death, comes the unconquerable power of faith, imagination, courage and love. This is no less than one of the finest films ever made.

Gladiator 2000,  R)
Gladiator
I loved this epic. This is another big thing. The effects were good. The actors were convincing. Russel Crowe was fearless. He did very well in this movie. This film showed not only the cruelty Maximus and his family faced due to jealousy and envy, but also the tough lives of the slaves-turned-gladiators during the reign of the Roman Empire. Though it's almost three hours, I didn't feel the time because of the finely created craft.
10
Saving Private Ryan 1998,  R)
Saving Private Ryan
One of the greatest war movies ever made. Director Steven Spielberg has done another WWII masterpiece and it was a stunning success. It surely is a heartbreak seeing this wonderful work be nominated the Best Picture, and remain a nomination in the Academy forever. The movie is filled with overflowing emotion, adversity and difficulty. It surely isn't a film to watch with family and eat popcorn.

A moving screenplay, effective acting, flawless direction, and the emotional and distressing intensity of the film itself brought me into a world not completely understood and grasped by most of us. Spielberg not only let the viewers see the film, he made them to feel like being in it.

It brings the story of a special unit of eight soldiers led by Capt. John Miller brilliantly portrayed by Hanks to rescue the only surviving soldier of the three Ryan brothers, Private James Francis Ryan (Damon). The eight, who eventually had a strong bond among themselves, were put into an extremely dangerous mission where they lose each other along the way. Miller is very admirable here. You see, he has this burden to appear strong and unmoved to his men who are losing the faith and wanted to abort the order while in his inmost self, he feels vulnerable.

This movie shows how precious life is and how duty, honor and service of country are very much glorified during such times. And that sometimes, these things valued could risk your life into something you may not fully believe in.

The Phantom of the Opera 2005,  PG-13)
The Phantom of the Opera
This musical is certainly a masterpiece. I wonder why many critics didn't like it much. The story and the music was great, as well as the cast. I fell in love with the film, the characters and with the music of the night.

My favorite character would be the Phantom (he's Erik in the book by the way). I could never blame the people to fear him. He's really dark and mysterious, and he murders. But, it is a crime to loathe him. Actually, he's a jack of all trades. He was the one who created is lair, and it was creepy yet admirable. He surely knows how to draw. He creates songs, he creates operas. And he's pretty much a singer himself. But, all because of the disfigured face, nobody loved him. The only one to help and accept him was Madame Giry. And when Christine came, he taught her well. Yes, he tricked her. But, that's the only way he knew to be with the one he loves. You can never blame him. All his life he was disliked. It's never wrong to love. He may have done cruel deeds, but how would you expect him to react? He grew with the ruthless world. It's quite wrong to ask him for compassion when he himself didn't feel any.

The Phantom's wasted heart all just for loving Christine broke my heart as well. Imagine living alone and unloved for all your life. I really admire him during his last appearance in the film. It takes a lot of courage to do that especially for the fact that it's against his will. The ending was deeply sad and moving. After all those years, after all that's happened, he still loved Christine.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
"Never forget. Never forgive."

It's time for paybacks. Behind this dark, morbid film, lies the beauty within. A tragic yet gripping story of a man who did nothing but to love. Very good portrayal of characters, good direction and the best ending. A film I'll surely remember for all of my life.

Revenge. Perhaps, that's the most evident matter of the film. But for me, there's something deeper and greater than this. Love. Benjamin Barker loved his wife so much. He's deeply captured in her beauty. She's everything to him. And after she's been taken away from him, he turned into someone nobody ever thought he would be. That gentle, loving husband and barber became a depraved monster. He forgot who he was, he ignored the fact that his daughter was still alive just to make those wicked people pay. He himself became wicked. In the end, just because he let revenge preoccupy him, and he didn't expect the price he had to pay for all he had done which actually ruined his utmost being.

Even Mrs. Lovett was destroyed by love. Because of her obsessive love for Todd, she led him into being his worst self. Judge Turpin is not necessarily wrecked by love. What he felt was lust. Toby was also in a way ruined by love, motherly love. He was not literally damaged. But, his character began to worsen.

Right after seeing this, I thought it has no moral lesson after all the blood, deaths, revenge, anger, rage. However, I was wrong. It implies that it may seem that the whole world turned its back on you. That nobody cares. That they took everything dear to you. Despite all of these, never ever let revenge consume you. For if you do, you'll surely regret the time when the wrongs you've done asks for its cost.

Forrest Gump 1994,  PG-13)
Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump. Clearly, he has a very low IQ and it would be very much appropriate to remark that he is a complete idiot. But, I think a kinder and still proper description of him in my point of view is that he is a man of innocence. He has gone through a lot in his life. He was bullied at school. He met the girl of his dreams and her only friend as a child. There are times when he had her, and often she's gone. He gained and lost things along the way. But, what he retained until the end is his innocence. This innocence made him a laughingstock of the world, but, this is also what made his life extremely extraordinary.

Wonderful direction from Robert Zemeckis who has made the adaptation of a story full of facts from history twisted to create Forrest Gump, producing a moving and interesting film until the very last scene. Good set of actors and of course, the outstanding Tom Hanks. The story was really unforgettable and filled with valuable life lessons.

This is a movie where you'll get the perfect amount of drama, comedy and romance. And I tell you, Forrest is not stupid as his mother believed so. The world is stupid. They struggle to do things, even ruining others, to achieve their ambitions and as presented in the film through some characters, they end up losing. And where's Forrest? He's there seeing the world with pure simplicity and innocence.

Coraline 2009,  PG)
Coraline
I loved it. I loved everything about it! Dark-themed films are usually great. This may be the best animated film I've ever seen in my whole life. This is well-crafted and beautifully made. I really love it. I don't know how to put into words the greatness of such masterpiece. Henry Selick is a good director, almost like Tim Burton.

Road to Perdition 2002,  R)
Road to Perdition
It shows that beyond crime, murder, sins, betrayal and death, a father's love will always prevail. And for a gangster film, this one's a tearjerker. The right mix of action and drama. A film I'll surely treasure for a lifetime.

Highly remarkable and magnificent film with a moving and poignant story within. Tyler Hoechlin and Tom Hanks were great and the perfectly complemented each other. Paul Newman was remarkable. I also think that Jude Law is noteworthy. It was brilliantly acted. The cinematography and sound editing, flawless. The setting perfectly fitted the movie. Good direction as well.

Michael Sullivan. Was he a bad man? Did he die a good man? We all have different views about that. But, one thing's for sure. The ending clearly proves Michael Sullivan's undying fatherly love.

Catch Me If You Can 2002,  PG-13)
Catch Me If You Can
If you see this movie, I assure you one thing: it will surely make you smile. It was fun and smart. Imagine presenting a biopic which turned out to be very unique and never boring. Excellent job for Mr. Spielberg. The story was really exceptional. Frank Abagnale is someone, whether you like it or not, you'll surely remember for such a long time. Thanks to the magnificent portrayal of Leonardo DiCaprio. He has enormous talent. Amazing. Tom Hanks was good, too. But obviously, he's outdone by DiCaprio. The character Abagnale, I must say, is a risky role which needs a gifted performer. DiCaprio is a perfect choice.

Abagnale is a really interesting man. He's really cool and he rocks. He makes me smile once in a while. He's got the personality, he's got the wits. I really believe that he's worth admiring. It's just that he used everything stored in mind in a not-so-good way. Everything he does makes him even more exciting. Every duplication he executes makes you engross yourself into the movie further.

Carl Hanratty (Hanks) was once said, "Sometimes, it's easier livin' the lie." Clearly a direct remark for Abagnale. You see, he and his family faced financial problems. Actually, he discovered this "talent" when he moved to public school and pretended as their professor. And the rest, he did flawlessly well. A doctor, pilot, lawyer and he even dressed up in a James Bond guise. Not only with fake tickets and checks, he's also good with girls. But he the moment he actually fell in love, you'll never guess what happened. And I don't want to spoil that for you. Better check it out.

He tricked almost the whole country and gained millions of dollars before he even got 19. But you see, he's not bad. He just wanted to have a taste of a better life. A better life for his mother, for himself and for his beloved father. Yes, there are times that lying is the easy way out. That sometimes it feels a lot better to live in your fantasies instead of facing the harsh reality. But, as the world-famous quote said, the truth will set you free. Frank Abagnale may be a fake, but I assure you that he's someone a whole lot more.

Up 2009,  PG)
Up
This is the best animated film I've seen for all of my life! I totally loved it. It got good shots of drama, comedy and adventure. It's a film every one would surely enjoy. The concept, the animation, the storyline, the characters. All were totally awesome. The story was really touching from every aspect and, at the same time, never losing its comedic side. The way Ellie and Carl loved each other deeply touched my heart. Although it's just an animation, the film can fully connect to the audience's emotions. From the moment they met to the last moment of the film, it is completely evident that Carl loved Ellie with all his heart and is very sentimental about the moments they shared. Ellie was also really sweet, especially after it was shown that what she put on her adventure book was all about her relationship with Carl. Russell, as a cute little boy, also has his own principles and dignity he's willing to fight for until the end. This film got colorful and wonderful characters, and was able to mix them right. I fully believe that this has a great chance for winning the best animated film this upcoming Oscars. When people ask me what my favorite animated film is, Up would surely be the answer.

A Beautiful Mind 2001,  PG-13)
A Beautiful Mind
Brilliant. Well-crafted. Stunning. Beautiful. The film was amazing! One of the best biopics ever. All the actors were great! Russell Crowe showed a really admirable and awesome performance. He truly deserves the Oscar nomination, and he should have won. All of his fellow performers were also great. Each made their characters remarkable. Ron Howard is such a magnificent director. The screenplay was also really beautiful. No wonder it bagged its Oscar. I would never regret I bought the DVD. I waited for such a long time to watch this, and I'm happy I did. It was never boring for me though it seems that it is for some. It has a wonderful way of connecting to its audience. I really felt the sadness and adversities John Nash went through. I really love the film! It is an exceptional motion picture which shows that what matters most is not what is stuck inside your head, but the power you have in your heart. It is a film that grabbed me to the soul!

Schindler's List 1993,  R)
Schindler's List
Stunning! What a film! I'm very lucky to watch this one. Steven Spielberg is the man! One of the best films ever made. When dealing with war films, especially with World War 2, it should be handled by a master's hand. Some outsanding movies of war were Life is Beautiful and, Saving Private Ryan which was directed by the same man, Steven Spielberg. I was never bored watching it. I was never shocked to see that almost everyone who saw this was amazed. It didn't only show how great Oskar Schindler is, but it also showed the dreadful reality the Jews suffered. It's about a man who lighted a candle of hope in the midst of the horrors of war. I really look up to this. It deserves every award it gained. It was one of the most critically acclaimed films in history, and it still is. A film I'd never forget for the rest of my life.

Julie & Julia 2009,  PG-13)
Julie & Julia
This flick was amazing! The performance was great, especially of Streep's. The story was very inspiring. The director had done a really good job. It's about two different women who found cooking as their life-saver. As the tagline says, "Passion. Ambition. Butter. Do you have what it takes?", this movie engages its viewers into a fascinating lifetime memory. This light drama gives an amusing treat. I enjoyed every single scene. This is undoubtedly a must-see. Bon appetit!

Ratatouille 2007,  G)
Ratatouille
"Anyone can cook!"

The best food in the world is in France. The best in France is in Paris. The best restaurant in Paris is Gusteau's. Gusteau is a world-renowned chef with his unending motto as mentioned beforehand. And an avid fan, with the same forte as his, is dying to be just like him. The incredible thing is that he's a rat.

This is one of the best animated films ever done! I loved it from start to finish. Excellent screenplay, which unsurprisingly gained a nomination and the movie itself was so amazing that it gained a dashing Oscar win. Technically, everything is almost perfect.

As for the ending, it was beautiful. I supposed that they would end up regaining the five stars of Gusteau's and live in endless fame and grandeur. But the movie didn't end up like that. Instead, they lost their beloved restaurant. The food critic, Ego, did also lose his credibility as an acclaimed critic for praising the cuisine of the restaurant he once defamed. However, everybody ended up happy. Ego invested into a small business called "Le Ratatouille" where Languini, Colette and Remy worked. It is a haven of fine French cooking for humans, and rats.

This film surely inspired its audience. The motto, as explained in the film, means that anybody can cook, but only the fearless can be great. It says a lot. We all have our dreams, or the things we desire to do. Undoubtedly, everyone can do it. But in order to be great in the field we chose, we must have the guts. The world hated rats. They were disliked. They were treated as pests. The world was tough. The thing to do in order to survive is to steal food. But Remy made a difference. He stood firmly with what he believes in despite his disapproving father, the disgusted world and the many challenges he faced. Passion. Ambition. Courage. We must possess all of these to excel in what we do, just like Remy did.

(500) Days of Summer 2009,  PG-13)
(500) Days of Summer
"This is not a love story. This is a story about love."

One of the best romantic comedies I've seen. I actually fell in love with it. It is about Tom Hansen who believes in true love, destiny and happy endings who happens to meet Summer Finn, who believes the otherwise. It engages the viewers into a 500-day journey of this young man to find his way through love.

This is one of those films that withholds a beautiful story. It clearly states the fact that love can either make you or break you, or do both simultaneously. It also says that love can never work out if only one does the loving. It should be done by both parties.

"Most days of the year are unremarkable. They begin, and they end, with no lasting memories made in between. Most days have no impact on the course of a life. May 23rd was a Wednesday." And that was the day, perhaps the best, for a fresh new start for Tom. Love can be as sweet as heaven, and be bitter as hell. Tom experienced both. The ending was one of the best I've seen so far. I have this notion that sad endings hold a bigger impact, but that isn't true. A story that ends like this would surely be great.

When a story ends in an unexpected way, it doesn't necessarily mean that the person involved lost or something. There are times when the best thing isn't the one we hoped for.

The film definitely captured my heart. There may be this special someone whom we expect to be "the one". But things may change. There are times when we're just mistaken. Not with love, but with the person we chose to love. In that case, the best thing to do is to look again.

"Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn't." That ends the 500 days. And then comes the new start.

Million Dollar Baby 2004,  PG-13)
Million Dollar Baby
As I see it, it's about protecting yourself and those that complete you. There's this phrase that Frankie often says. "Always protect yourself." It's also protecting those dearest to you. But, what if the only way to protect that someone is just not the way you actually expected?

The story was not fancy or anything. The story was really plain. It's fighting for your dreams, and it's either ending up great or a trash. This shows that everything may seem perfect, but all these could be lost in a glimpse of an eye. It's not just about winning. Like Scrap said, people die everyday. And not everybody's given the chance. It's about grabbing that chance and doing the thing you loved the most, and having someone to help you through just like how Maggie and Frankie filled in the empty slots in each other's lives.

Having a simple but ultimately beautiful story, together with its brilliant cast and magnificent director, this film can surely capture hearts. Even the simplest things can be the remarkable ones. This is a motion picture with so much to say.

This made me realize that there are just times when the only means to protect the ones we love is the most hurtful and unbearable thing we could ever do.

Up in the Air 2009,  R)
Up in the Air
From the moment I knew that this film existed, I readily became interested to see it. One of my biggest dreams was to travel, to live a life on the road while I'm still young enough to do it. I also don't want to die alone. I'm going to have a settled life after all the adventures. I'll never be young forever. It's like I'm having both Natalie Keener and Ryan Bingham inside.

The film was really smart and well-crafted. I liked it from start to finish. The cast was great. Pretty good direction and screenplay, too. It's really worth the best picture nomination. I like the scenes where he packs his suitcase and makes his way through the airport. Anyway, I liked it the way I liked (500) Days of Summer. See, Natalie here is Tom Hansen and Ryan as Summer Finn. Natalie believes in true love, romance and stuff. While Ryan doesn't want commitments. Alex is the female counterpart of Ryan. It's like having two Summer Finn's here. And what do you get? I thought it would end up having Ryan and Alex marry each other. And personally, I wouldn't like that. The ending was the best for the film. Yes, he was ready to get connected. But, being connected isn't his fate. Maybe connected in a sense that he sees the importance of the people around, thanks to Natalie. However, not being committed to someone you would want to spend your life with.

Every person has a story. It may not turn out as you planned it to be, but it would surely be the best one can get.

I'm glad I saw this. Really remarkable.

Big Fish 2004,  PG-13)
Big Fish
"An adventure as big as life itself."

Perhaps, the best Tim Burton film I've seen so far. It's one of the lightest. Tim Burton films are recognized because of their strangeness and dark ambiance. Big Fish may be one of the lightest, but generally, it still possesses that certain Tim Burton touch. I really like Ewan McGregor's performance, and also of Albert Finney.

I loved everything about this film. The story was really awesome and touching. It shows a man in the character of Edward Bloom who has the guts and the spirit to turn himself into something big. Though he already achieved a handful of recognitions in his little town, he didn't allow himself to remain like this. Instead, he risked everything to be someone greater than what he used to be. And it was all worth it. He has given the giant, who was once despised by the society, a better life. He saved and recreated an entire town. He helped a poet and performers. He gained the woman of his life. And in the end, he had the respect and approval of his son who retold his magnificent stories so that he may live forever in memories.

This film is very sentimental and touching. We all know that life can't be as extravagant and fancy as told by Edward. But life could always be a lot better through the power of imagination.

Inglourious Basterds 2009,  R)
Inglourious Basterds
"If you need heroes, send in the Basterds."

Quentin Tarantino is indeed a genius! This one was a marvel. Brilliant from start to finish. He's the man who rewrote history in a way people would love and remember. The movie was very original and unorthodox. Really fearless and exceptional. It surely stands out among the World War II films ever created. The direction was flawless. The ensemble was perfect. The technical stuff, cinematography, sounds, etcetera, were excellent. The screenplay, staggering. Personally, I think Brad Pitt should have been nominated for Best Actor.

It's a film that surely is beautiful and outstanding in a remarkable way, and very enjoyable in every second from start to finish. Sometimes, the facts are so plain, simple and eventually becomes boring once we are fed with it for over a hundred times. So, it would really be nice if some genius lets his brilliant mind bring about a flight of the imagination that transforms those dreary pieces of information into something livelier and a lot more interesting.

I have been aware and familiar about the World War II. At the same time, thanks to Mr. Tarantino, I have witnessed the comic, sinister and better made-up chronicle of it. If I were to choose, I think I like the Tarantino version better.

Avatar 2009,  PG-13)
Avatar
"An All New World Awaits."

Master director James Cameron has done it again. This magnificent film is about the discovery of a new world, Pandora, which led Jake into his lifetime adventure. Our hero here, ignorant but with a strong heart, met the Na'vi whom he was supposed to sort of spy on that turned out to be the race he protected. Good direction, breathtaking scenes, brilliant effects, and a good story with a valuable lesson. All of these and more, brought to you by Avatar. Best seen in 3D. Personally, I'm not a fan of sci-fi films but this impressed me a lot. It has its way of making the audience believe in this humanoid race, the whole new world, and the creatures it beholds. It is highly recommended for everyone to see this, for words can never fully define this craft. James Cameron is once again the king of the world.

How to Train Your Dragon 2010,  PG)
How to Train Your Dragon
How to Train Your Dragon is surely an animated tour de force. A breathtaking delight for the eyes, and a lovely tale for the heart. The animated films have been highly developing for the past decade. Shrek, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Up were just some of the most celebrated ones. And now, we have How to Train Your Dragon as a new addition to the list. Despite the short running time, it was able to tell a beautiful story in a visually superb presentation. The film itself was tastefully planned, creatively designed and perfectly carried out. The dialogues were funny and appealing; the movie itself is. The storyline was sharp and pretty enjoyable. Aside from the stunning success of our dear animators, my most treasured element would be the story. I would be looking for this in Oscars 2011.

Braveheart 1995,  R)
Braveheart
From the ravaged towns of Scotland rises the hero who willingly fought for freedom and his country come what may. This deeply captivating masterpiece has brought to life the shadows war and invasion cast upon men.

Braveheart had the impact The Patriot was short of. This film not only let me witness treachery, heroism, friendship, love and courage, it made me a part of it. It sunk deep into my soul and took me into somewhere I never thought I'd be.

William Wallace is such an admirable persona of a real hero, warrior and patriot not only of Scotland, but of life, freedom and love. I was profoundly moved by his way of rising with undying courage every time heartbreaks burn him into ashes.

What is even more amazing is that Mel Gibson who starred as Wallace was also the one to direct it. Mel Gibson is very fortunate to be much blessed as well as I am blessed enough to witness this marvel.

Chicago 2002,  PG-13)
Chicago
Sexy. Seductive. Irresistible. Chicago is the best musical I've seen so far. It's full of burning passions flawlessly delivered by the magnificent cast. The screenplay was not something really sensible but it was very interesting and entertaining which, of course, was brought to life by Marshall's superb direction. Every song number was excellently made and each complemented the scenes quite well. All songs were great but Mr. Cellophane won my heart. The acting was undoubtedly effective. Catherine Zeta-Jones was so impressive and she's surely worthy for her Oscar. Renee Zellweger did pretty well, too. My favorite character for this would be Billy Flynn as portrayed by the exceptional and charming Richard Gere who was able to razzle dazzle his audience, including me. But of course, Reilly's out-of-the-ordinary performance projected the most admirable character for this movie who's no other than the ever-loyal Amos together with his unconditional yet stupid love for Roxie. This film is something to be treasured for a lifetime. I'm very happy to see such marvel. As I finished it, I saw myself quite pleased and smiling yet wanting for more.

127 Hours
Sometimes, there are stories that appear to be either too good or too bad to be true. On the 26th day of April 2003, a real story which is, in my opinion, too unpleasant to bear came to pass.

Revealing power in a film which constitutes motionlessness and a single cast would appear to be impossible. That was what I thought. And I humbly admit that I thought wrong. Danny Boyle made another breathtaking tour de force. He transformed this seemingly limited storyline into a motion picture that actually captures the audience's utmost being. With a mind so creative and with a lead actor so impressive, Danny Boyle once again created a glorious feat after the triumphant Slumdog Millionaire.

As for James Franco, whoever chose him for the role made the best decision. To say that he did great is an understatement. He became Aron Ralston and moved every bit of my soul. To own almost all of the running time is so much pressure for an actor but he did it flawlessly. His acting was exactly what the film demands. You'll never meet such an actor in decades.

127 Hours did not just became an additional favorite picture. It also gave me another favorite actor. I must say that this film has the right doses of everything. Music, cinematography, direction, screenplay, acting and editing were splendid. Every single thing about this impressed me a lot.

Amidst all of those accomplishments, the best about this is Aron Ralston himself. Honestly, I can never be as brave as this man. His heartfelt experience that put him between life and death reached out to me and placed my spirit into a panorama of Aron's ordeal.

127 Hours is a victory not just of Danny Boyle, not just of James Franco and not just of Aron Ralston. This is a triumph of life and humanity.

The Fighter
Honest. Moving. Absorbing. It's definitely one of the best biopics ever made. Everything was perfect. The screenplay, the direction, editing, cinematography; all were flawless. But I have to say that the acting was best thing about this. As it reached its end, it left me in awe. Well done, guys. Well done.

A flawless film which is certainly one of the best not only this year but perhaps in the past decade, and superb Joseph Gordon-Levitt who surely deserves an Oscar nod. A perfect mix of drama and comedy. Certainly a must-see.

The Artist
In the generation of filmmaking where exquisite visual and audio effects added so much to a movie's success and brilliance, The Artist proved that silent motion pictures can still compete. With a screenplay so clever and interesting, a direction so superb, a cinematography so classy, and actors so splendid, I would be tremendously surprised if this doesn't bag the Best Picture statuette in the upcoming Academy Awards. All the things needed to regard a film as a true masterpiece are all in the top-notch motion picture The Artist. Just perfect.
