I really liked the different shots by the camera and the choices the actors made. I especially liked how everything became a metaphor, and it was obvious. It's true that people probably see it expecting to be a love story, when it plainly warns that it's a story about love. Overall, though, it was alright. I love Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. |

I thought it would be better than it was. I've been looking forward to this movie for awhile ever since I first saw a commercial for it at the beginning of 2009, but it kind of fell flat for me. First of all, there is essentially no relationship with Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper - which you except in the previews when the narrator says, "He must figure it out before it's too late." Sure there are a funny moments, but I would much rather watch Bullock's last romantic comedy, 'The Proposal.' And then, of course, they give the ending away kind of in the preview, which is never a good thing, because as the beginning falls flat, the audience awaits the big laughing moment they had during the preview. When she falls into the mine in the movie, there are no screams, which theater fans loved to laugh at in previews when the CNN producer keeps rewinding and replaying. I know that I probably have worse feelings now as I think back on it, then when I did when I left the theater. |

The only reason I was okay with it is because I had a film class this past semester where we had to watch several French New Wave and experimental films - It still has a good story line and Natalie Portman will most likely receive an award for her portrayal as a lost ballerina trying to take in the character in Swan Lake, and finally succumbing to be one with the character in the ballet. |

Sorry for all you Miley Cyrus lovers, but her acting is atrocious and her singing is worse. The scene with her in the car with her love interest singing was so painful, and you just have to laugh when the guy says "wow, you have a voice." So, Nicholas Sparks, great author. Other roles, perfectly cast. Miley Cyrus the destructive-force to an otherwise promising film. |
