Titanic (in 3D) 2012, PG-13)
The sheer scale of this movie is also Titanic! At nearly 3 hours long and a whopping budget this needed to be great.....and it succeeds. The sets, costumes all look amazing and authentic down to the last detail. The effects and stunts as the ship begins to flood and sink are impressive. Told from a retrospective view point of a survivor this is also a story of love as much as a true story of the disaster. Deserves every award it won. |

Knowing 2009, PG-13)
A very enjoyable film and although a big budget film it doesn't overload you with SFX scenes. It's part action, disaster film but with a good solid story line to it. The action/disaster scenes are very intense and not seen on this scale before. Not everyone will enjoy the way it ends but overall a very good film worth seeing on the big screen. |

2012 2009, PG-13)
A great OTT action, disaster film on a grand scale. The budget must have been huge, the SFX alone are very good and the biggest pull of the film. So very well done, you'll feel like your on a roller coaster ride the whole time. Very similar to all the other big blockbuster films of Emmerich The day after the tomorrow and Independence day and this sticks to the same formula. Good cast to, well worth checking out! |

Flood 2007, Unrated)
This is a fairly decent disaster film. It's a nice change to see a film of this type set outside New York for change! Some of the acting is pretty dour....the old guy playing a marine expert is especially bad, talking at the same pace and tone no matter what the scene. However the SFX in places are impressive and shots of a flooded London are believerable. Overall it would have benefitted from a bigger budget, but it is still watchable. |

Titanic 2 2010, Unrated)
Ah one of the low budget late night films on the SyFy channel you know will be bad, but you just have to see how bad! It could have been a lot worse, but the minimum budget really effects a film like this that uses a lot of CGI. The effects for the ship at sea are very basic. It doesn't feature a great cast Brooke Burns is the most famous I think, and she is a model! It's a mix of disaster films including Titanic, Poseidon and The day after tomorrow. Only watch if you like cheesy films! |

World Trade Center 2006, PG-13)
Not the greatest of films to watch, but due to the fact it is based on one of the most shocking events in recent history makes it compelling viewing. It's not ladden with tons of news footage from the day but caputures the shock and scale of what happened very well. |

Airport 1970, G)
The first of the Airport disaster films. I remember seeing most of them on Sunday afternoons on TV as a young kid. Big budget blockbusters for the time with an all star cast! I think there were three sequels in the end Airport '75, '77 and '79 concorde! Check them out, still pretty good films and few disaster films about planes have been made since to this standard. |

Skyline 2010, PG-13)
The trailer attracted me to see this a bit like the pretty blue lights in the film, despite the bad reviews. It was far from terrible, but I understand why most people didn't like it. I was hoping for something of a modern take on Independence day. In truth this only feels like one long drawn out segment of an alien invasion film. The SFX are pretty darn good, the cast was ok although hard to picture Donald Faison in anything but Scrubs. Then it ended abruptly in a rather strange way?! Let's hope the sequel feels more like a whole film. |

The Happening 2008, R)
I heard this was bad but I just had to see for myself when it was on TV. Yep really bad, despite the director and actors involved this is very poor. The acting stands out as being really bad, almost hard to take them serious in some scenes. The script is bland and the story just odd and not really exciting. Avoid it! |
