Like a lot of De Niro and Pacino fans, I had anticipated the relase of this film, but was slightly put off by the low ratings it appeared to get here on Flixster.

So we had The Godfather Part 2 where De Niro/Pacino were in the same film, but were from different eras and so did not appear in the same scenes together. We then had Heat where they are both in the same film, but share only one scene together and now a film where they work side by side as police Detectives together.

Yes granted the film was a little built up for the above reasons and so caused for some negative reviews, but perhaps the negative reviews helped me to see this film without huge expections.

Well firstly De Niro did out act Pacino in my opinion, although it wasn?t either of these guys' best performance. It?s hard to say too much about this film without giving too much away, needless to say I enjoyed the conclusion of the film which really lifted the rating for me.

Well, there are good parts and bad parts to this film. I felt the basis of the storyline was good and this could have turned out to be a pretty good Thriller, but the film somehow felt way too corny to have Al Pacino star in it.

Pacino himself played an ok role (in comparison to his many outstanding roles in other films), but the acting elsewhere lead this film to look like a very average slasher film.

The biggest problem I feel, was it?s lack of suspense and the use of other known Actors, this gave the game away from the very beginning, it?s pretty obvious that if they are in it, they are going to be in the film throughout. This type of film always benefits from new unknown Actors, that way it keeps you guessing.

The (not so) grand finale opens with options of who the killer may be and so much more could have been made of the build up toward this, giving it rather an anti-climax feel.

On a more positive note, despite all the faults mentioned, it was watchable, disappointingly though it really gives nothing original to the offering.

It was hard to believe that Colin Farrell was putting on an accent in this film, the accent seems to come second nature to him now. A smooth, Action Thriller, which glimpses into the presumed training techniques within the CIA.

Trust and loyalty cannot be depended upon and everything is a game!

Another good role for Al Pacino and an enjoyable conclusion.

An intelligent Thriller with yet another great performance from Pacino. All the elements included in the plot, ie location, sleep deprivation etc etc build nicely toward it's sub-story, rather than the main focus of the tale.

The Devil's Advocate
A much better film than I had previously rated it. Certainly one of Keanu Reeves better acting roles (shall we say), with great performances from Al Pacino and Charlize Theron, a film about vanity, ego and the Lawyer theme was a good example choice of how right and wrong are not necessarily the justification in a material world.

Thought provoking in many ways.

Heat
A monster of a movie which sees America's finest two Actors; De Niro and Pacino play a game of cat and mouse in this high paced action thriller.

Such a large cast of stars and so much going on, it certainly benefits from several viewings, despite being a lengthly film.

I wanted to see what the fuss was about with this film, having had so many recommendations for it, admittedly I'd put it off thinking it was going to be a romance film.

This has to be my favourite performance from Pacino yet, what a great character, I though Chris O'Donnell's performance was very very good also.

The reason for me why this film doesn't quite make the full ratings is simply because of the typical 'Hollywood' clapping part, otherwise a fantastic film.

VERDICT: A Definite recommendation

Highly controversial in it?s time, both in subject matter and portraying the Gay scene and Leather scene in a bad light. It?s very much a film way ahead of it?s time.

Partially based on true events and a real-life undercover cop situation, the film is of interst on many levels. What the film lacks (to it?s credit) is lack of explanation, justification and a particular view point ? leaving viewers to make their own views on the film itself.

I think this film is of interest more as a controversial piece than perhaps just it?s storyline, but one that was an interesting watch, suggestion and subliminal messaging are key behind it?s non graphic impact.

Moments of confusion from the story can be easily cleared up by the Special Features, which are worth taking a look at.

The Godfather, Part II
The Godfather films require stamina because of the length, at over 3 hours long, the film is not fast paced, yet elegantly created.

The introduction of De Niro in the flashbacks gave another dimension to the already established story, which I?m sure is contributory to most fans thinking this was the best of the Godfather trilogy.

It?s a must see for any fan of this genre.

Not quite the masterpiece I was expecting, however a great performance by Al Pacino.

Based on true events, that makes this story all the more interesting, however there were moments in the story where I was bored.

The Panic in Needle Park
Yet another great early film from starring Pacino, a story of love and the escalation to drug addiction.

This film would be just as relevant in today's time as it was back then.

Al Pacino's attraction for the controversial in the early days was truly admirable.

Lady D This is a nice list, I must completely disagree with where you have him in Insomnia, I felt if you have Insomnia he may help you in this film I would move Devil's advocate up two spots the two directly in front down (Insomnia a ways) possibly also moving up city hall and wooooow And Justice for all getting no justice?

Huskerchez - the positions of films are firstly based on performances as opposed to storyline or preference of film. As for 'Justice for all', (along with the others) I have not yet seen this film and of course as I do watch the 'Not yet rated' ones, my list will be amended accordingly.
