Disney's A Christmas Carol 2009, PG)
I had a mixed reaction to the film. I thought it was better than Beuwulf. However, Polar Express was much better than this. I even thought Bill Murray's Scrooged was much better, funnier, and more entertaining than this film. I thought Carrey was better in the Grinch. It is amazing how a lot of the characters in the film look like the actors portraying them. I think Zemeckis should try to stick to more vivid and entertaining films if he wants to continue this type of animation. Beuwulf was a little too long and this one felt a little to short running time wise. I hope for the Roger Rabbit sequel and Yellow Submarine remake that he does a much better job. I do recommend that if you see the film, that you see it in IMAX 3D. |

The Blind Side 2009, PG-13)
Overall, this is a really good film. Sandra Bullock should get an Oscar nomination for her performance in it. The male lead should also get a nomination. Tim McGraw and Kathy Bates provide solid supporting work in the film. The only negative is that the pacing was off at times, especially in the beginning of the film. The first 20 minutes was a bit too slow, however, the film picks up from there. It was great seeing footage and photos of the real Michael Oher at the closing credits of the film. The film reminded me a little of the film, Antwone Fisher. I definitely recommend this film. |

Home run for Jennifer Westfeldt. She made a really good film here, even better than Kissing Jessica Stein. The film kind of reminded me of movies like Trust the Man and Life As We Know It. The script is really good and the film is excellently casted. |

Four Christmases 2008, PG-13)
The film was ok but could have been much better. Vince Vaughn was much better in his other christmas film, Fred Claus than here. The film needed a rewrite. I didn't like the way it opened. I also thought there wasn't a good on screen chemistry between Vaughn and Witherspoon. The film seems unbalanced. The routine of the film is family to family to family to family to the end. There should have been more to it than that. |

This is a very cute and sweet film with wonderful performances. Martin Landau and Ellen Burstyn shine in this film. They have a great on screen chemistry. Elizabeth Banks and Adam Scott provide solid supporting work here. |

Rooney Mara should get an Oscar for her performance as Lisbeth Salander. She is amazing in the film. She was ok in the Social Network, but she shines in this film. The film was so so. The pacing was off. I didn't think that this was one of Fincher's best. To me, Fight Club will always be my favorite David Fincher film. Some sets, especially the interiors felt like they came from Fincher's past sets from his past films such as, The Game, Zodiac, and Panic Room. The film kind of remind me of Pelican Brieft, Zodiac, and even Basic Instinct. One key scene reminded me of the film, The Cell. The opening tittle sequence reminded me of the opening sequence from Fight Club. I didn't like the ending scene of the film. Basically there is a build up in the film for Mara and Craig to meet and when they do, the film takes off. |

Mean Girls 2004, PG-13) |

The Time Traveler's Wife 2009, PG-13)
I thought it was so so. The problem I thought the film had, was the time travel concept. It wasn't explained clearly and it was a bit confusing. The Time Travel concept should have been more clearer like the tv show Quantum Leap.It was a little predictable. It reminded me a little of the Sandra Bullock film,Premonition. I thought Rachel McAdams was good in the film. Bana, looked exhausted. Probabaly cause he shot this back to back with Star Trek and Funny People. |

Powder Blue 2009, R)
The performances are the main reason to check out this film. The film is well cast and everyone delivers. The problem with the film is that the pacing is off at times. Also the film reminded me too much of films like Crash and Magnolia, especially in their styles and structure. I think the filmmakers should have tried their best to avoid the Crash and Magnolia similarities. Every time, I saw Patrick Swayze on screen with his long hair, he reminded me of his To Wong Foo look from that film. |

Pride and Glory 2008, R)
Ed Norton (Good Cop) vs Colin Farrell (bad cop) in this gritty cop drama. Both Norton and Farrell shine in their roles. However, the pacing is off. The first hour is slow and the 2nd hour is fast paced. The film reminded me of films like Narc, Training Day, Copland, Internal Affairs, and We Own the Night. The filmmaker seemed to be trying to make this film in the style of a Sidney Lumet cop film such as Serpico or Q and A. The hand held camera shots were overused and at times made it difficult to tell what action is happening on the screen. I understood why they did that, but they did too much of it. Overall, the film is worth seeing cause of the performances of Farrell and Norton. |

The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past 2009, PG-13)
Matthew McConaughey needs to stop playing the same type of character over and over again, especially in romantic comedies. I thought he was better in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days than this film. He definitely needs to branch out more as an actor. I would love to see him in a villain role. I think another actor in this role, would have brought a fresh approach to the film. I keep thinking Vince Vaughn would have done a better job in the role. The film also needed a rewrite. On the positive, Jennifer Garner is good in her leading lady role. Michael Douglas steals the film playing Matt's dead uncle. I think a film about his character would have been a much more interesting film than this one. Emma Stone also shines and is funny in her role as the ghost of girlfriends past. On very cool note, Christa B. Allen, who plays teenage Jenny, the younger version of Garner's character, played a teenage version of Jennifer Garner's character in 13 Going on 30. I would have loved to have seen a sequel to that film as oppose to this one. |
