Christine 1983,  R)
Christine
Christine is a classic 80's Thriller from the creative minds of Stephen King and John Carpenter. While it might seem a bit old for viewers nowadays; I still managed to really enjoy this film and would definitley reccomend it to anyone who has a love for cars, especially those that love their car just as much as Arnie loved Christine in this film!

Young Arnie Cunningham, a nerdy high school student, falls in love with a car he spots for sale even though it's rather old and in need of some serious TLC. Despite advice from his best friend Dennis not to purchase the car, Arnie does and spends months fixing it up. He soon becomes obsessed with it, worrying both his girlfriend Leigh and Dennis. Both Leigh and Dennis soon realize that the car, Christine, is changing Arnie, and that the car is much more than it seems as unexpected accidents start to happen. Now Dennis and Leigh must try and save Arnie before it's too late!

Keith Gordon, playing Arnie, made a great transition from the nerdy high school student to a car-obsessed schizophreniac who will do anything to protect the car he loves. John Stockwell was also quite likeable as Arnie's best friend Dennis, however I can't say the same for Alexandra Paul, who played Arnie's girlfriend Leigh. I felt she wasn't a great actress and was simply reading her lines rather than playing her role. I also found the character of Will Darnell, played by Robert Prosky, quite irritating, but he did the part justice.

Despite being an older film, and I'm one of those people who tend to stick to films from the 90's and onwards, I managed to enjoy it because I'm a fan of Stephen King's work. While its not his best, the film has some great highlights like when Buddy's gang is chased down by Christine and set on fire, and the final showdown between Dennis, Leigh and Christine was also great. Lowlights would just be the film having a slow pace and some dull scenes here and there, and the character Will Darnell just being irritating.

Overall Christine is an enjoyable Thriller that has still managed to impress me after almost 30 years. It will easily plase most male viewers, especially rev-heads, and I would reccomend giving it a go.

Avatar 2009,  PG-13)
Avatar
Avatar is easily one of the best films I have seen, and another brilliant film from the bright James Cameron. Visually, its stunning, and looks just remarkable on screen. Anyone who has yet to see this film is really missing out on a masterpiece, and its surely an iconic film from the decade that simply can not be missed.

In the year 2154, humans explore the new world that is Pandora, inhabited by an indigenous tribe of people called the Na'vi. Jake Sully takes form in an avatar and joins these people to learn more about their culture and way of life, and falls in love with a Na'vi woman called Neytiri. The Na'vi population comes under threat when Colonel Quaritch wishes to destory their home to salvage a rare and expensive mineral. Now Jake must try and save the people he has been living with while trying to reason with the humans in order to keep peace on Pandora.

Sam Worthington was a perfect choice for Jake Sully, and is a very likeable and at times quite amusing character. I couldn't see many other actors fit for the role like Sam. Zoë Saldana also breathed life into Neytiri and her character was also a favourite of mine. Colonel Quaritch, played by Stephen Lang, was the character you love to hate, and he couldn't have done a better job. It was also nice to see both Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez in the film and they were both great for their roles, especially Michelle as Trudy, a tomboy pilot.

In my eyes the film is simply flawless and its hard to pick any faults. While its a rather long film there is hardly a dull moment as there is always something going on. Pandora has so many interesting creatures and wildlife which looked amazing on screen; and discovering all of this was a clear highlight for me. Each animal or plant was unique in it own special way. I also really enjoyed getting to know the Na'vi people and watching them interact. The final scenes were also very exciting to watch!

Overall Avatar will always be a favourite of mine, and one I can't see myself ever getting tired of watching. It's desevred all the success it managed to achieve and I just can not wait for the sequel in the near future!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2005,  PG)
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants might have a rather ironic title but don't let that put you off seeing it because it just happens to be a great film! Adapted from the Ann Brashares novel; its a delightful tale of four best friends, and while it might seem like your average chick flick at first it ends up being so much more than that.

Bridget, Carmen, Lena & Tibby are four best friends who's parents met before they were born and have all been friends since they were kids. After realizng they are going to be seperated for a short while they decide to use a pair of jeans to keep in touch by sending them back to one another during the time they are apart. The jeans head to Mexico with Bridget, Greece with Lena, South Carolina with Carmen and Maryland with Tibby. The girls use the pants to stay in touch with letters connected with them.

The four young actresses in this film are all perfect and suit their roles very well. Blake Lively is the bold and sporty Bridget, and who better to play her with a body like Blake's. America Ferrera plays Carmen, who is also the narrator, and was probably my favourite character, as was America being one of my favourite actresses. Alexis Bledel was also good as the shy yet intriguing Lena, but it was Amber Tamblyn as Tibby who really caught my eye, most likely because she had the most interesting and confronting storyline.

I thought it was great having four seperate storyline to make up a movie, and they all blended in very well together. At the end of the day the film is hardly about a pair of pants but more about the friendship between four girls and the daily struggled they face on their own. I found Tibby's storyline the most interesting as she made close friends with a 12 year old girl called Bailey with leukemia. Bridget's storyline was probably the least-interesting. While still being a chick flick, it definitley catered to a wider audience.

Overall The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants is an enjoyable film that is not restricted to the teenage girls it seems to be aimed at, and I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing what will happen in the sequel.

Apocalypto 2006,  R)
Apocalypto
Apocalypto is a look into the Mayan kingdom and the struggles at a captured tribe faced after being taken there. It's Mel Gibson's most recent film he has directed and what a brilliant film it is! Full of non-stop action and drama; its a spectacular look into the Horror of this world, and what a young man called Jaguar Paw will do to get back to his family.

A tribe in the Maya civilization is attacked, captured and taken to the Mayan Kingdom to be offered as slaves and human sacrifices. Jaguar Paw, a young warrior, hides his pregnant wife and son in a deep hole before being taken, and is desperate to get back to them. After the long journey to the kingdom, and after an solar eclipse spares his life, he escapes the Mayan Kingdom in a desperate attempt to get back to the ones he loves. Now he must get to his family before it is too late, or before he is captured once again.

Rudy Youngblood is obviously the star of this film, playing Jaguar Paw. He is a likeable character who cares for his family and it really shows. Gerardo Taracena is perfect as Middle Eye, an evil man who makes sure he makes Jaguar Paw's journey to the Mayan kingdom a difficult one. Raoul Trujillo is also very convincing as Zero Wolf, the leader of the kidnapping tribe. Even the minor actors, especially the tribe members, played their parts very well and were more than convincing as people from back in the Maya civilization.

This was a very confronting film with some very difficult scenes to watch; howver I loved every moment of it. Mel Gibson has really showed his talent in this film. The fast-paced action scenes are filmed beautifully, and there are some very heart-wrenching moments also. You really feel sorry for Jaguar Paw and his family and fellow tribe mates as they are plucked from their camp and taken far away. It was obviously rather controversial, but I think it was done in a satisfying way.

Overall Apocalypto is a brilliant film with so much heart and dymanic camera work. Its introduced us to some unknown yet great actors like Rudy Youngblood, and proven to us that while Mel Gibson may have his off days; he can sure make a movie!

Daybreakers 2009,  R)
Daybreakers
Daybreakers is a modern twist on your typical vampire film as, for once, its not the human population in the majority! Directing Duo & Brothers Michael & Peter Spierig have really delivered a top-notch vampire film that manages to stand-out above the rest in the genre thanks to its clever twists and acting performances.

Its the year 2019 and the human population is at an all-time low after an infected bat transformed the majority of humans into vampires. Edward Dalton, a scientist, is against the idea of harvesting the remaining humans and decides to head out to find a cure; which he does in humans Elvis and Audrey. After curing Ed and making him human, the trio set out to cure the rest of the vampire population, but they are being hunted down by Charles Bromley, a powerful vampire in the modern world.

While Ethan Hawke is a great lead, and suits his character Ed perfectly, its Williem Dafoe that steals the spotlight here as the comical Lionel Cormac, or better known as Elvis. He's one of those characters you can't help but love. Sam Neill on the other hand plays Charles, a character you can't help but hate, but he was fit for the role. Aussie's Claudia Karvan, Michael Dorman and Isabel Lucas are also great in this and its great to see them in a film like this.

After seeing so many vampire films which can start to seem the same at the end of the day; this film was like a breath of fresh air. I just love the idea and the creative concept; and its played out so very well. There is plenty of action and some gory horror scenes too of course. Some scenes in particular really stand out; like when the severly infected vampires are lead to their death by a truck. I also found the final scenes, including a nifty little twist, rather enjoyable.

Overall Daybreakers is a brilliant Horror film that's managed to really shake the cliches of a vampire film. It's easily one of my favourites of the genre and I would highly reccomend it to anyone in need of a good Horror film!

The Librarian: Quest for the Spear 2004,  Unrated)
The Librarian: Quest for the Spear
The Librarian: Quest For The Spear is the first film in the trilogy starring Noah Wyle, and while I had some expectations of it being decent they were soon somewhat crushed. While its entertaining enough it's obvious that when it came to budgets & good special effects they missed out, and left us with a lacklusture film.

Flynn Carsen, a student in his mid-30's, is given the opportunity of a lifetime when he is a successful applicant to become a librarian, but unknwon to him the job is more than what it seems. He is soon introduced to a world like no other, and after a sacred artifact is stolen its up to him to see it has a safe return. He teams up with fellow librarian Nicole Noone and the two work together to retrive the spear from the serpent organization before they take over the world with it.

Noah Wyle, while somewhat irritating at times, is likeable enough as Flynn Carsen. I've always liked Noah as an actor, and its easy to say this isn't his best role, but decent enough. Sonya Walger is also borderline annoying as Nicole, with a rather ironic accent and an irritating persona. I don't think there is one likeable character in the film, with even actors like Bob Newhart and Kelly Hu struggling to bring theirs to life. There was however something about Flynn's caring Mother Margie, played by Olympia Dukakis, that made me like her.

It's really what you come to expect from a DVD release film with a small budget and mostly unknown actors, but I thought I would enjoy it more than I did. The corny storyline and actions the characters take have you rolling your eyes more than a few times. Even the general idea of a librarian having such power like this is rather ironic. I can see why some have enjoyed this film, and the sequels that followed, but for those that are used to being blown away by Hollywood Blockbusters, well let's just say they won't be easily pleased.

Overall The Librarian: Quest For The Spear is a somewhat dull and corny DVD release that may please some but will most likely have you chuckling at how silly the film really is. I'll remember not to take reccomendations from my customers at work so easily now.

Shrek 2001,  PG)
Shrek
Shrek is one of those films that no matter how many times you watch it you simply can't get enough of it. One of Dreamworks finest films from 2001; it tells the tale of an Ogre, a Donkey, a Princess and a soon-to-be King. Its the perfect family film, and one I've grown up just loving!

Shrek is an ogre who is happily living by himself, but this soon changes when a large amount of fairy tale creatures are dumped in his swamp. With help from a persistant Donkey; the two set off to see Lord Farquaad, who decides to make a deal with the pair. If they rescue his princess, Fiona, he will give Shrek back his swamp. After doing so, the trio head back to the kingdom, but Shrek and Fiona soon realize that the two have quite a lot in common, and start to fall for one another.

Mike Myers was the perfect choice to voice Shrek with his spot-on accent and tones. He brings a real light to the character that makes him very likeable despite being a scary ogre, and not many actors would be able to do so. Eddie Murphy is also great as Donkey, who is equally likeable and quite the chatterbox. Cameron Diaz bring her own spunk to the mysterious Princess Fiona, and John Lithgow has all the right quirks to play Lord Farquaad. The film only really had four main characters, the rest of the cast are more of an ensemble.

It's quite a simplistic storyline but it works on so many levels. There is always something happening to keep you interested, and there's plenty for both children and adults to enjoy. From the likeable characters to the eventful storyline full of twists and turns; Shrek really has something for everyone. Its hard to find something not to like about this film because it hardly sports any flaws. If any it might feel a tad repetitive for me, but that's only because I've seen it so many times.

Overall Shrek is the perfect family film full of action and adventure for the whole family. Its great that another three films were released afterwards, and who knows if there are more to follow. It's a film I would highly reccomend to anyone that loves nothing more than a good comedy.

The Hot Chick 2002,  PG-13)
The Hot Chick
The Hot Chick is a hilarious comedy that sees school girl Jessica swap bodies with a thief, played by Rob Schneider. Its full of non-stop laughs as we watch Jessica try to get her life back despite being stuck in a middle-aged man's body. No matter how many times I manage to watch it I can never get enough of it!

Jessica is head cheerleader and the most popular girl at school, but has her world turned upside down when a pair of magical earings swap her body with that of a middle-aged man who found one of them. Now in his body, Jessica must find out how to return back to her normal self. With the help of her best friends April, Lulu & Keecia they set out to find out how they can switch her back before the prom and cheerleader tournament, and before Jessica's boyfriend Billy finds out the truth!

Rob Schneider couldn't have done any better playing a girl in a guy's body, and he seems to do it effortlesley. He's hilarious in this film and provides us with the majority of the laughs. Anna Faris is also great as Jessica's best friend April and is equally as funny. While she doesn't get a whole lot of screentime; Rachel McAdams is also perfect as Jessica, and she surprisingly does really well playing a man inside a woman's body. Other cast highlights include Maritza Murray as Keecia, and Jodi Long as her hilarious Mother!

While its safe to say the plot is pretty corny and its 'been done before', it's still hilarious and I think they've done it better than any other film thanks to the cast and storyline. Everything blends well together and there's so much more going on than just Jessica's body switch (such as her relationship with Billy, her parents troubles, and Keecia's Mother crowding Keecia which was probably a little too silly, but still very funny). There is never a dull moment either which is always nice.

Overall The Hot Chick is a great comedy flick full of laughs and any fans of Rob Schneider or Anna Faris will be right at home here. It's definitley my favourite Rob Schneider film and I would highly reccomend it!

Never Been Kissed 1999,  PG-13)
Never Been Kissed
Never Been Kissed is a likeable high school which sees undercover reporter Josie Gellar head back to high school for a story. Its a great film and one of my favourite Drew Barrymore movies as she is so likeable as Josie, and watching her transform is just great on screen.

Josie Gellar is offered the opportunity to be an undercover reporter in a high school and become a student for a few months. At first she struggles to fit in, except for with the smart kids, but when her Brother also returns her popularity increases. She also befriends Sam, a teacher that takes a liking to her. While her story doesn't exactly turn out the way she thought it would, another one rises how she has never actually been kissed before, and how one man could change all that.

Drew Barrymore is easily one of my favourite actresses and its films like this that show why. She is so funny and likeable as Josie, the kind of girl that would just be great to become friends with at high school. David Arquette is also hilarious as her older brother Rob. Michael Vartan was also a good choice to play the perfect and sensible teacher Sam. Other cast highlights include John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon as Josie's co-workers Gus & Anita, and a very young Jessica Alba, Marley Shelton & Jordan Laad as Josie's school mates Kirsten, Kristin & Gibby.

I've seen this film a few times now but its a favourite of mine, and I tend to always like the high school movies that just get it right. Its a great storyline too with a solid message behind it also, and it's portrayed perfectly as well. Its also got enough laughs to keep the viewer interested, as well as having a few sad moments too showing how Josie was treated when she was back in high school. There isn't a dull moment in the film, however the general idea/concept has been done so it doesn't exactlty offer anything new.

Overall Never Been Kissed is an enjoyable comedy that's brought to life thanks to Drew Barrymore, and without her it might have not been the same. Its a film any Drew fan should check out, as well as fans of actors like Jessica Alba or James Franco to show their earlier work before they became famous.

Shrek 2 2004,  PG)
Shrek 2
Shrek 2 is an impressive sequel to the first film and will definitley keep the fans satisfted. While I don't think it's matched the quality and simplicity of the first film its definitley a great sequel and has enough spark there to impress.

Shrek and Fiona are back from their honeymoon but soon head off to Far Far Away after an invite from Fiona's parents. After a shaky start, Shrek is determined to do anything to impress Fiona and her parents, so he makes a deal with a Fairy Godmother to make everything better, which ends up being a big mistake! Now Shrek, along with help from Donkey and Puss in Boots, must get back to Far Far Away to save Fiona from a Shrek imposter and a life with him!

Mike Myers is back again, as is Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, but this time they are joined by a few new faces. John Cleese and Julie Andrews play Fiona's parents, and both are perfect for the roles with their caring nature, and John Cleese is quite funny also. Jennifer Saunders plays the perfect villain and really reminds me of Imelda Staunton in Harry Potter. Rupert Everett rounds out the main cast as Prince Charming, and while its a rather small role he's fit for it.

I think there's a lot more going on in the second film, and this has pros and cons because sometimes less is more, but I like how there is never a dull moment. It seemed to start very quickly but I guess there was a lot to fit in a film. The final scenes worked perfectly, especially with Jennifer Saunders singing 'Holding Out For A Hero' throughout them. I don't know if it was just me or not but Donkey, a well-loved character from the first film, seemed slightly more irritating at first, but this didn't last.

Overall Shrek 2 is a respectable sequel that is going to keep Shrek fans more than happy. It's got everything that made the first film successful, plus what makes a sequel work with new characters and new adventures for the original characters to take.

Fame 1980,  R)
Fame
Fame is the iconic 80's musical that managed to spawn a hit TV series and a remake in 2009. With an all-star cast full with both youngsters who later made it big and those who were already famous; it had a stellar cast. The film also tackles the major issue about fame not being everything you see in film & TV; but something so much more.

PA, or Performing Arts, high school in New York city is holding audition for new students; and those who are successful begin a four year journey and experience the highs and lows of fame. We follow students such as actors Montgomery, Doris and Ralph, dancers Coco and Leroy and musician Bruno, as well as the teachers that share the years of high school with them. From their auditions right up until their senior year; you get to share every moment with them.

While the film doesn't really have a lead actor; its fair enough to say there are those who stand out from the crowd. Irene Cara, who plays dancer/singer/actor Coco is just amazing, and her piano solo singing 'Out here on my own' is the film's highlight. Maureen Teefy and Paul McCrane are also quite likeable as actors Doris and Montgomery, but their friend Ralph, played by Barry Miller, is the opposite as he is quite irritating. You also tend to have a like/dislike relationship with Leroy, played by Gene Anthony Ray, because his character makes stupid choices.

The film is great, and I actually saw the remake before the original and its safe to say its just as good! While it seems a little dated with some scenes the storyline is definitley still fresh and relevant to the performing arts industury. With so many likeable characters to relate to, and sympathize with; it really had you hooked from the start as you watched their characters develop over the four year peroid. As mentioned before, Coco's piano solo, along with the dance-break scenes in the cafeteria and on the streets of New York, are the film's highlights.

Overall Fame is a film that will never go out of style despite being from the early 80's as it still manages to be relevant for today's generation. The ensemble cast is really what makes this film what it is, and what brought us a TV series and a remake later down the track.
12
Fame 2009,  PG)
Fame
Fame is the 2009 remake of the 1980 film that spawned the hit TV series 2 years later. Kevin Tancharoen and Allison Burnett have managed to update the film and give the people of today's generation a taste of an iconic film from the 80's; and they've done it perfectly! Its a solid look into the complicated life of a performer, and the many roads they will take to achieve success.

PA, or Performing Arts, high school in New York city is holding audition for new students; and those who are successful begin a four year journey and experience the highs and lows of fame. We follow students such as actors Jenny, Malik & Neil, dancers Alice & Kevin and musicians Denise & Victor as well as the teachers that share the years of high school with them. From their auditions right up until their senior year; you get to share every moment with them.

Naturi Naughton, who plays musician Denise Dupree, is arguably the film's star. Similar to Irene Cara's role in the original, Denise also has her shining moment when she sings 'Out here on my own' on the piano. Other young stars that shine in the film include Kay Panabaker and Asher Brook as young couple Jenny and Marco. Unlike the original, the teachers have more of a role in this film and Megan Mullally is the stand-out as singing teacher Fran Rowan. Debbie Allen from the TV series also has her moment.

The film is a notch above the original as its more fresh and updated for audiences today with fresh musical numbers and a vast range of likeable characters. The storyline is quite similar, just, once again, updated. The film has some great highlights but its final scene, graduation day, that's really the film's peak. Its also safe to say that Denise, played by Naturi Naughton, is a real scene stealer and just shines whenever she sings. I'm sure the remake didn't please all Fame fans out there, but its certainly won fans along the way.

Overall Fame is an uplifting and inspirational musical that really showcases some talent kids and the ups and downs of becoming a superstar. Its more than a reality check though as the film has so many memorable scenes and toe-tapping musical numbers!

Shrek the Third 2007,  PG)
Shrek the Third
Shrek The Third is yet another impressive installment in the Shrek films that manages to keep the series going strong and still provides a barrell full of laughs. Shrek, Donkey, Fiona and Puss are all back once again but are joined by a few new faces also.

After Fiona's Father falls ill, its up to Shrek to find the next heir to the thrown, Arthur, so that he can take over the kingdom instead of Shrek. Joined by Donkey and Puss, they find Artie, but soon discover he's a nerdy high school student. Meanwhile Prince Charming is after revenge and redemption and teams with villians from The Poison Apple to take over Far Far Away and rule the kingdom like he was meant to before Shrek came along. Now its up to Shrek and his friends to save the day!

Once again the four lead characters return along with Fiona's parents & Charming, but this time a few new faces join the Shrek family. Justin Timberlake plays Artie, and while Justin is obviously a lot older than Artie his voice seems to match his perfectly. Eric Idle is also quite funny as Merlin, the magical wizard, and while he has more of a minor role its still quite funny. I also think Rupert Everett, who plays Prince Charming, stood out more in this film and he really suits the role so well.

Storyline wise I think its a little more corny than the second, and like the second there is a lot more going on compared to the first, but entertainment wise there is definitley enough there to keep me amused. I enjoyed it more than I watched it last time, and I can see Shrek fans that liked the first two films still enjoying this one as there is certainly nothing really wrong with it. The addition of more new characters, plus learning more about those returning works really well.

Overall Shrek The Third is a great addition to the series, and while the first Shrek film will most likely remain to be the best of the bunch, its still a great film, and I can't wait to see what the fourth installment will be like!

Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo 1999,  R)
Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo
Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigalo is one of Rob Schneider's earlier films where he stood alone as the main star, and while he definitley provides the majority of laughs the film definitley has its highs and lows. Having said that it's definitley a funny movie and a crowd pleaser!

Deuce Bigalow is an aquarium cleaner and an all-round loser, so when he meets gigolo Antoine Laconte he aspires to be just like him. After offering to look after his fish while Antoine is away, he accidently breaks his expensive fish tank and decides the best way to get the money to replace it is to take Antoine's job as a gigolo. With the help of Antoine's friend T.J. Deuce soon falls in love with one of his customers, Kate, who has her own deep secret just like Deuce. Can Deuce restore Antoine's fish tank in time, and still keep the one he loves?

Rob Schneider happens to be one of my favourite actors. He's very silly at times but because it's in small doses its OK. He is easily the star of the film and as mentioned above provides us with most of the laughs. Eddie Griffin is also very funny as T.J., Antoine's friend. I did however find Detective Chuck Fowler, played by William Forsythe, extremley annoying and he was an unnecessary character. Other cast highlights include some of Deuce's dates like Fluisa, played by Big Boy, and the hilarious Ruth with Tourette syndrome, played by Amy Poehler.

Its a clever idea for a film, and for the most part it was played out nicely. Its extremley silly at times but in a way that works and with the right actors its done perfectly. Most of the characters are quite likeable, especially Deuce, and you really want him to succeed in what he's doing. Some of Deuce's dates are also just hilarious and whoever thought of some of them is a genius! Its such a shame that the ending was so abrupt and silly and it really brought down the rest of the film which was decent.

Overall Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo is a funny comedy that anyone with a good sense of humor, or that can manage a few really silly jokes and moments, will surely enjoy. Rob Schneider fans will also need to make sure they don't miss out on it!
15
Shrek Forever After (Shrek 4) 2010,  PG)
Shrek Forever After (Shrek 4)
Shrek Forever After is the fourth, and what seems to be the final installment in the Shrek series, and it's certainly gone out with a bang! While its safe to say the earlier films are better there's no denying its a respectable addition and it will surely keep Shrek fans pleased.

Shrek is beginning to miss his old life as a scary ogre and becoming quite tired of life as a Dad with three baby ogres, so he makes a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to get a day back as a ogre all would fear. Little did he know that Rumpelstiltskin had other plans and he took the day Shrek was born! Now Rumpelstiltskin rules Far Far Away, and Shrek has never met Fiona which means their kids don't even exist. Now its up to Shrek to befriend Donkey and Puss once again and try and win back Fiona's heart before the spell is made permanant!

Back for the fourth film are Mike, Eddie, Cameron & Antonio plus the other minor characters from the first three films. Its great that these four actors keep coming back for more because without their voiced in the film it surely wouldn't be the same. There aren't as many new characters but the obvious newest additon is Rumpelstiltskin, voiced by Walt Dohrn. He has a rather evil voice making him perfect for the role. Craig Robinson also provides a few laughs as Cookie, one of the ogres Shrek meets.

While the 'what if' plot has been done so many times before I think its always fun to see what would really happen if certain events never played out from the first film. Its a clever idea and its portrayed well. While I think this is probably my least favourite of the Shrek films its still a great movie and I really did enjoy it. I grew up watching Shrek so they will never get old for me, especially not the first film. Its also great that they've kept the four main characters (Shrek, Donkey, Fiona & Puss) throughout the series because who knows what it would be like without them.

Overall Shrek Forever After is a nice closing chapter to the series and it will surely keep Shrek fans from the first to the third films happy. Its been a great series to watch and I'm sure its pleased many kids as well as many adults too as the films really do have something for everyone!

The Secret Garden 1993,  PG)
The Secret Garden
The Secret Garden is an iconic 90's film and a remake that's captured the hearts of anyone lucky enough to watch it. Adapted from the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett; its a touching story of a young orphan girl fitting into her new lifestyle, and the garden she falls in love with.

Mary Lennox is a newly oprhan girl after her parents die in an earthquake in India. After being sent to her Uncle's in England, she is taken under the care of Mrs. Medlock; a bitter woman who doesn't want a child around. Mary soon finds her own fun after discovering a secret garden which has been kept locked for many years. After finding the key; she opens up a new world away from her life with Mrs. Medlock. Along with her new friends Dickens and Colin, a sick boy who she soon discovers is her cousin, the three children bring the garden to life.

Kate Maberly is quite a talented young girl, playing the lead role of Mary Lennox. She's a rather intriguing character and I think Kate was perfect for the role. While Kate is the lead, its fair to say that Maggie Smith, who plays Mrs. Medlock, is the star of the film. Her portrayal of the evil caretaker is easily one of her more memorable roles, and she plays it perfectly. The other two children Colin and Dickon, played by Heydon Prowse and Andrew Knott, are also quite likeable, which is thnaks to those talented young actors.

This is a film that I grew up with, as did many other children from the 90's, and its a family film that all can enjoy. There are so many themes and meanings behind the events in the film that anyone can relate to, and its fair to say its not all about a little girl and a garden she finds as I think her relationship with her Uncle and cousin are just as important. Mrs Medlock could just be one of the most evil characters that I can remember from my childhood so props to Maggie Smith for that!

Overall The Secret Garden will remain to be one of my favourite childood films, and while its not one of my favourite today I still quite enjoyed watching it again. Its certainly a film that I would reccomend; even to children of today's generation.

Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo 2005,  R)
Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo
Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo is the follow up to the 1999 comedy hit. Rob Schneider is back once again and is probably the only element that makes this film funny because it doesn't have the greatest storyline, or jokes at times, but Rob's witty comedy styling makes it enjoyable enough to watch.

Deuce Bigalow takes a holiday to Europe after getting into some trouble in America. He meets up with his old friend T.J., who is having trouble as a man-whore killer is on the loose and putting man-whores everywhere in trouble. Deuce decides to track down the killer by dating past clients of the last victim. Meanwhile, Deuce falls in love with Eva, an obsessive compulsive woman who also takes a liking to Deuce. Can the killer be caught before Deuce himself is in danger, and can T.J., who is a top suspect, be cleared of all charges?

Once again Rob Schneider brings laughs galore as the dim-witted Deuce Bigalow. The film would really struggle without an actor like Rob. Eddie Griffin is also back and like Rob really brings the majority of the comedy to the film. The two also work great together and make a good team! Other cast highlights include the adorable Hanna Verboom as Eva, and like Kate from the first film, she is very likeable. Jeroen Krabbé, who plays Gaspar Voorsboch, isn't that likeable however and not a great addition to the film.

If you look at it on paper the idea for the sequel is definitley worse than the first film, but played out with the right amount of comedy it actually works fairly well. While its safe to say the film won't be winning many awards, if you like these types of films you can really enjoy them by not taking them too seriously. Fans of the firsty Deuce Bigalow film will surely enjoy the sequel, especially if they are devoted Rob Schneider fans. It is silly, but in a way that's decent enough for a comedy film.

Overall Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo is a funny comedy and a decent sequel that will keep fans of the first film happy and laughing just as much as they were first time 'round. While it was funny let's hope this will probably be the last we see of Deuce Bigalow for now.

Finding Nemo 2003,  G)
Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo is another successful film from the masterminds of Pixar; and this has to be up there with their great films like the Toy Story series. It would be hard to find someone that wouldn't enjoy this film as there's something for everyone of all ages!

Marlin has just lost his son Nemo after he is taken from divers, so now he's on a journey to get him back. He runs into Dory, a forgetful fish, who helps him after reading on one of the divers mask that Nemo has been taken to Sydney. Meanwhile, Nemo is attempting his own escape from the fish tank he is now living in with the help of Gill, a fish just as determined for freedom. Will Marlin and Dory get to Nemo in time before he is given as a gift, or will Nemo make his own escape first?

While Albert Brooks, who plays Marlin, is the lead voice actor in this film its Ellen DeGeneres, who plays Dory, that steals the spotlight here. Her voice is hilarious as Dory, and Dory could just be one of the most loved Pixar characters in a long time. Willem Dafoe is also perfect as the mysterious Gill, and his dark and sinister voice couldn't of been better for the role. Other highlights in the cast include Vicki Lewis as Deb and Barry Humphries as Bruce the shark.

The general idea and concept is great, and a real touching story as a Father loses his only son. You really feel for these characters, despite the fact they are fish. The characters are so likeable, and the scenery is so bright and colourful that I'm sure the kids would have just loved. It's probably a little scary at times for very young children, but like all great Disney flicks they never stay scary for long. The events of the film all play out at the right time as well to keep you in suspense.

Overall Finding Nemo is another smash hit for Pixar, and is definitley a film no one should miss out on. Apart from the Toy Story series its easily their best work, and any fans of the Pixar films won't want to give this one a miss!

Chicago 2002,  PG-13)
Chicago
Chicago is one of the best musicals to be released lately thanks to being so creative with a great storyline, stand-out musical numbers and top-notch acting from the cast. It certainly desevred the success its managed to achieve, especially winning 'Best Picture' at the Oscars!

Roxie Hart has just committed murder and is now on death row, so she buys lawyer Billy Flynn to help her win her case and her freedom. Roxie isn't the only woman trying to win her freedom as Velma Kelly is also a cold-hearted killer and doing anything to win over Billy. Roxie's case hits its up's and down's as she tries to win the heart's of Chicago's public, as well as make herself famous at the same time as she aspires to be a stage performer.

Renée Zellweger is brilliant as Roxie Hart, and while she isn't as strong of a performer as Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Velma Kelly, she needed to be softer to fit the role of Roxie. Catherine Zeta-Jones on the other hand is very bold and loud in her role and she plays it perfectly. Richard Gere is also quite convincing as the charming yet coniving Billy Flynn. Queen Latifah also gives a stellar performance as Matron Mama Morton, and really shines in her musical number 'When You're Good To Mama'.

The storyline has everything, and is played out very well with toe-tapping songs to really get you moving in your seat. Stand-out musical numbers include 'Cell Block Tango' and 'We Both Reached For The Gun', as well as the opening number 'All That Jazz'. There is so much to like about this film that it's hard to know where to start, and there's enough there to keep not just musical fans happy, but reach out to others also. Visually the film also looks stunning, especilly during musical performances by the cast.

Overall Chicago is a fantastic musical that I thoroughly enjoyed and I would highly reccomend it to anyone, even if you're not a fan of musicals because you might just be surprised.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010,  R)
A Nightmare on Elm Street
While it didn't please everyone I was more than impressed with this remake and I think it surpassed the original delivering a terrifying Horror film for today's generation. Freddy Krueger is such an iconic villain so its great to see him back in action, and Jackie Earle Haley does a great job portraying him. Storyline is also great with much more of a backstory this time, especially with Freddy's character. Overall a real treat for Horror buff's and Freddy fans everywhere!

Tomorrow, When the War Began 2012,  R)
Tomorrow, When the War Began
Tomorrow, When The War Began is an action-packed Aussie film based on the novel series by John Marsden. Its the first in what I'm hoping to be a great film series! The talented young cast make the film what it is as well!

Ellie and her friends camp out for a few days to get away from home before school begins. When they return they realize things have changed and that their small town has been taken hostage by an army. Determined to take their town back the group of teens work together to throw off the army and save their families. The group run into their own struggles, and choose to retrieve back to their camping spot to decide on what to do and how they should go about it.

Caitlin Stasey is the lead actor in this film and she's brilliant as Ellie, the leader of the pack. She sure has come a long way from 'The Sleepover Club' thats for sure. Deniz Akdeniz is the comic relief but is also a likeable male character, unlike Lincoln Lewis's character Kevin who you hate for some of the choices and moves he makes. Ellie's close friend Corrie, played by Rachel Hurd-Wood, is also quite likeable and Rachel is good for the role. Phoebe Tonkin is also great as the 'blonde' Fiona.

While fairly slow to get going, when it starts its a non-stop action packed adventure that really makes you think what you would do in the same situation. I'm very anxious to see what happens in the next films, and hope they will be released soon! The action scenes are where it gets really exciting, but the character development in the slower scenes is also necessary. There is so much to like in this film and its great to see an Australian film getting so much success and so many people have liked it.

Overall Tomorrow, When The War Began is a great film that I would definitley reccomend, and fans of the book series will surley be pleased, and we can only hope the next film will soon follow!

The Craft 1996,  R)
The Craft
The Craft is an iconic 90's film about four very odd girls that form a covnent and practice witchcraft. I remember it being a very popular film back then and I liked it then and I still do now.

After moving schools Sarah befriends three girls who she soon finds out perform witchcraft. Soon enough she is accepted into their covenent and the four begin to cast spells on their classmates, including a boy that has fallen for Sarah, and themselves. Power begins to get to Nancy, the covenent's leader, and after a fall-out with Sarah the girls turn against her and soon begin to use magic against her. Now Sarah must learn to use magic against her old friends in order to stop them, especially Nancy.

Robin Tunney is great as Sarah and is quite a likeable character, but its Fairuza Balk that steals the show as the creepy Nancy that surely creeped out many viewers over the years. Neve Campbell also does a great job as burns victim Bonnie, as does Rachel True as Rochelle who is teased in school by the evil Laura, played by Christine Taylor (better known as Marcia from The Brady Bunch films). While his character is quite unlikeable, Skeet Ulrich also does a great job as Sarah's on/off boyfriend Chris.

Its a great storyline about the new girl at school fitting in with a new group of friends, but these girls are definitley something different. Great characters and some very creepy moments that are hard to forget (all I need to say is Nancy and her shoes and it freaks out my Dad). While some of the chanting scenes might drag a little there's enough there to make up for that, and I think it flowed nicely with enough moments of glory to keep the viewer interested.

Overall The Craft is an iconic 90's Drama that anyone growing up in the 90's probably saw, and its great to see that 15 years later the film still hasn't dated, and Nancy remains to be one of the creepiest characters ever!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 2008,  PG-13)
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2
The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants 2 is a respectable sequel to the first film released back in 2005. All four girls are back as are the pants as they all set off on more adventures in their lives, and the up's and down's of their friendship.

Best friends Bridget, Carmen, Lena & Tibby continue to share a pair of jeans that fit all four of them perfectly as they set off around the world. Bridget heads to Turkey on an archaeological dig, Carmen is in Vermont working backstage on a play, both Tibby and Lena stay home in Maryland and Tibby has a pregnancy scare with her boyfriend Brian while Lena begins taking art classes and dates model Leo after breaking up with Kostos. Through all of this the pants are still delivered back and forth but will they be enough to keep their friendship strong?

Once again all four lead actresses back from the first film are great, and America Ferra is the stand-out again with playing the narrator as well as the character Carmen. Alexis, Amber & Blake are also great once again in the sequel. Rachel Nichols plays Carmen's friend Julia well, especially when she begins to turn on her. The male characters Ian, Brian, Kostos & Leo are all likeable and perfect matches for the girls, but its the girls that really stand-out in the film rather than the guys.

While I don't think its managed to match the first film its still a good sequel that fans of the first are going to be more than pleased with. The storylines were good, with Carmen's probably being the most interesting. I liked how they gave Bridget a better storyline than compared to her's in the first film. The final few scenes are also great as the girls come together. It's still a chick flick, but one that anyone can enjoy as there is enough for everyone to enjoy.

Overall The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 is a very good sequel and anyone that liked the first film should love it and it might just win a few new fans along the way, but I think two films should be enough.

Bringing Down The House 2003,  PG-13)
Bringing Down The House
Bringing Down The House is a hilarious comedy that hits all the right jokes as an attorney attempts to help out a former jail-bird with a crime she was set-up for. Both Steve Martin and Queen Latifah simply shine in this hilarious comedy.

Peter Sanderson is an attorney who has met Charlene on a chat room and the two arrange a meeting, with Peter thinking she's a blonde bombshell. Instead he meets Charlene, an african-american and former jail-bird who wants Peter to help him with her charges that she was set-up for. After realizing it will be difficult to get rid of Charlene he decides to help her despite Charlene making Peter's life and job easy as he tries to win over a rich client. Charlene also soon realizes that her past is about to catch-up with her.

Steve Martin is one of my favourite actors and he's just hilarious in this film as he always is, but its Queen Latifah that steals the show as Charlene. She is just hilarious and brings most of the laughs for the audience. Other cast highlights include Joan Plowright as Peter's rich client Mrs. Arness, who really brings the laughs towards the end of the film. Eugene Levy is also quite funny as Peter's friend who has a slight attraction to Charlene. There is also a hilarous fight scene between Charlene and Peter's ex-wife's sister Ashley, played by Missi Pyle, who is very funny!

The general idea and concept work well and having someone like Charlene ruining Peter's perfect life is quite funny to watch. The events of the film play out nicely and its full of great jokes that hit spot on instead of falling flat, which can be rare in films like these. The film does hit a few race jokes also, but in a way that doesn't seem sloppy and desperate. Its the actors, especially Martin & Latifah, that really make this film though and it would be lost without them.

Overall Bringing Down The House is a hilarious comedy that anyone in need of a good laugh is bound to enjoy! Fans of Steve Martin and Queen Latifah should also make sure they don't miss out on this one!

Prom Night 2008,  PG-13)
Prom Night
Prom Night is a decent remake of the 1980 classic, and while it's certainly a corny Horror film with clichés galore there is enough to entertain you and make it an enjoayble film to watch.

After surviving a terrifying attack on her family, Donna Keppel is looking forward to the future and intends on having a great night at her senior prom. Upon ariving at the prom with her friends, incidents start to occur and it soon becomes aparent to Donna and her friends that the man that killed Donna's family is at the prom, and ready to be with Donna forever. The man, who was a former teacher at Donna's school, will stop at nothing to ensure that Donna is the only one for him, and kills anyone in his way.

While we are meant to like Donna, and Brittany Snow does a decent job portraying her, she is a rather whiny and dumb character. Seriously who goes upstairs for a scarf when the fire alarm has gone off in a building? Props to Johnathon Schaech who is veru convinving as our killer. Other cast highlights include Idris Elba as Detective Winn, and Dana Davis as Donna's close friend Lisa, who has a classic chase scene with the killer. Donna's boyfriend Bobby, played by Scott Porter, was also quite likeable unlike Claire's boyfriend Michael.

So it's fair to say there are some script issues with this film, but that aside its quite entertaining and Horror fans will manage to get their kicks out of it. Death scenes are decent, but not so gory to keep a lower rating. I felt like it started out fairly strong but things seemed to go downhill a little once the action picked up, and the characters just made really stupid decisions. It would be interesting to see how it differs from the original, but considering the negative feedback its probably worse.

Overall Prom Night sports its flaws but still managed to keep me entertained thanks to some pure Horror goodness, but at the end of the day it lacked punch and won't be pleasing everyone.

Bran Nue Dae 2009,  PG-13)
Bran Nue Dae
This is definitely a feel-good movie and it puts you in such a good mood with it's catchy songs & a talented cast. It's extremely corny but in a way that works as it was originally a playwright. Jessica Mauboy is just gorgeous as Rosie but it's the comedy we get from Ernie Dingo, Missy Higgins & Deborah Mailman that really light up the screen. Overall it's an enjoyable film that might not be for everyone, but for those that appreciate a good musical there is plenty to enjoy here!

Overall Bran Nue Day is such an enjoable and fun film to watch and there's so much here to like! A little silly, sure, but in all the right ways that have made it a success and one so many have enjoyed watching.
27
The Amityville Horror 2005,  R)
The Amityville Horror
The Amityville Horror is an impressive remake of the classic Horror film from the late 70's, and while I haven't seen the original this remake was great and full of pure Horror that seemed to stay true to the original.

The Lutz family buy a dream home for a great price but find out that it was once the home to a family murdered in their sleep. Soon enough George, the man of the house, begins to hear voices and starts to change worrying his girlfriend Kathy and their three children. Determiend to stop the madness Kathy sets out to find out the house's history, while George continues to descend into madness lashing out at the children and Kathy also. Can this family that is quickly falling apart get behind what is sending George insane?

Ryan Reynolds is the true star in this film as he makes the transistion from happy family man to a psycho wanting to kill his family so very well! He is easily the stand-out and really seems to shine in the role of a mad man. Melissa George is decent as Kathy, and all three child actors portray their characters well also. Other cast highlights would be Rachel Nichols as the seductive babysitter Lisa, plus Phillip Baker Hall as Father Hallaway was also good.

I love the storyline and watching a happy family fall apart at the work of an evil house and a loving Father turned psychopath. The cast is what really makes the film work, especially Ryan Reynolds, but they had a great sciprt and characters to work with. There is enough Horror moment to keep the Horror fans pleased without being too gory. A few jumps also, but again nothing major. I think everything was done in the right amount.

Overall The Amityville Horror is a highly enjoyable Horror film that I have seemed to enjoy more every time I watch it, and it's one I would definitley reccomed to fans of the genre!
28
Rollerball 2002,  PG-13)
Rollerball
Rollerball is an interesting, slighty dull at times, film that is a remake of a film from the mid 70's, and while its received a large amount of negative feedback I think there are worse films out there than this.

After getting in trouble with the police, American Jonathan Cross escapes to Kazakhstan with his friend Marcus to join in a new game called Rollerball. Soon enough Jonathan is loved by the public, but at the expense of his safety as he is soon a target of big bosses who want Jonathan out of the game. Both Marcus and another player, Aurora, try to save Jonathan but also get caught up in trouble with him. The once innocent game is now caught up in many politics, and nobody is safe once the ball drops as lives are put on the line!

Chris Klein is decent but rather dull at times as out hero Jonathan Cross, which is a character that probably deserves a better actor to portray, but he does the job. LL Cool J is Jonathan's friend Marcus as like most roles given to rappers its stereotypical but good for the film. Rebecca Romijn is gorgeous and a delight to watch as Aurora, and villain wise both Jean Reno and Naveen Andrews are good as Alexis and Sanjay. The rest of the Rollerball team also look great on screen and had the right image.

Storyline wise there wasn't a whole lot there as they focused more on the action, especially in the game sequences. The film did struggle to hold my attention in the middle, but managed to bring it back towards the end. There was enough there for me to enjoy it, but at the end of the day I can see why it's received so much negative feedback as its very corny, and accoridng to critics it strayed far away from the original film which in this case probably wasn't a good thing.

Overall Rollerball won't be pleasing everyone, but its a decent film that visually looked pretty good, and anyone that's played the game or something similar to it like roller derby might enjoy it.
29
House of 9 2005,  R)
House of 9
House Of 9 is a decent Thriller that shows what lenghts nine desperate people will go to in order to stay alive. While it didn't have a theratrical release its not bad for a budget film, plus it has names like Dennis Hopper and Kelly Brook attached.

Nine people awake in a house with no doors or windows and a voice tells them that only one will be leaving alive, and they will be $5 million richer. While civil at first the nine individuals begin to clash and all soon realize the sooner they start to die the closer they are to escaping. One by one they soon begin to experience gruesome deaths as some become more despreate to get out and to become rich. Who will end up alive and who will fall victim to the insanity of some of the houseguests?

Kelly Brook would be our leading lady here, and while she is a decent actress she is probably better sticking to modelling as there are better actresses around. I normally love Dennis Hopper but I found his Priest character a little weak, and his acting wasn't so great. Hippolyte Girardot was spot on as the creepy Francis, easily the least liekable character. The other cast members all suit their roles well but were all rather unknown actors.

The idea has been done a few times in a couple of films, but its still a great idea that's played out well, and it has a killer ending that's well worth sticking around for! I think it did have its dull moments and only one or two of the nine characters were likeable which was disappointing. When the deaths do happen I think they were too close together instead of being spaced out throughout the film. When the action does happen its done well, and its the cast that make it work nicely.

Overall House Of 9 is a decent Thriller with enough there to please fans of the genre, and as mentioned above the best thing about the film is definitley the ending and one I won't be forgetting anytime soon!
30
The Day After Tomorrow 2004,  PG-13)
The Day After Tomorrow
The Day After Tomorrow is a blockbuster action-packed disaster movie that really delivers! It shows us the troubles that global warming could have on our future, and the future for our children.

Scientist Jack Hall has found out that the world could be experiencing a new ice age, but it doesn't seem like anyone is listening to him. Soon enough it's too late and the world has been thrown into chaos as freak storms and tsunami's are sent across the globe. Determined to save his son who is trapped in New York, Jack risks his life to save him and his friends who are trapped in a public library after escaping a massive wall of water that hit the city. Will Jack get to his son before it's too late?

Dennis Quaid is our leading man here as scientist Jack Hall, and he does the role justice and plays a rather likeable character. Jake Gyllenhaal plays his son Sam, who is also quite likeable thanks to Jake. Sam's friends Laura, J.D., and Brian are also fairly likeable and the actors portraying them are decent. However, not every character is likeable as Vice President Terry Raspon, played by Ian Holm, is a character you'd prefer to see bite the dust rather than survive.

It isn't the storyline that makes this film enjoyable but the action and special effects that bring it to life, and visually it just looks amazing. Being a disaster film they has plenty to run with and they took every opportunity to make this film just look spectacular. Likeable characters and a good flowing storyline held the film together and it manages to shine over some of the more dull moments and weather talk which isn't the most entertaining of things to watch.

Overall The Day After Tomorrow is a great action-packed film with plenty to keep the audience interested with amazing special effects, and its sure to please plenty that are watching.

127 Hours 2010,  R)
127 Hours
127 Hours is a great film about the struggle a man had and the drive he had to stay alive against all odds. Both Danny Boyle and James Franco deserve as much credit as Aron Ralston, the real-life character in this film, does.

Aron Ralston has taken some time away from his job to explore in the canyon area in Utah. After a quick gathering with two women he meets along the way he sets off to find adventure, but soon becomes trapped under a boulder which wedges his arm with the rock next to him. After soon finding out there is no escape Aron soon descends into madness and quickly runs out of food and water. Desperate to free himself before it's too late, Aron attempts the unthinkable by trying to break and cut off his arm. Will Aron escape before it's too late?

James Franco. Where do I start? The guy is brilliant and I have never seen him in a role like this before and he's really shined. Obviously he is the only actor worth mentioning as the other actors only have short scenes, so I will take this time to let everyone know that he's really done a fantastic job. James really shines when Aron begins to descend into madness and begins to lose it. It must be so difficult to portray a character like him so he's done a fantastic job. Props to Kate Mara and Amber Tamblyn who plated fellow adventurers Kristi & Megan well.

Being a true story there is nothing made up here so its how Director and Writer Danny Boyle has portrayed it that matters, and he's done a fantastic job. His style of directing is like no other and it really stands out from the crowd. The really intense scenes, like when Aron finally decides to cut his arm off, are filmed perfectly and they make the audience both anxious and queazy. At the end of the day this film would have been something very different without both Danny Boyle and James Franco!

Overall 127 Hours is a very intense film that really makes you think just what you would do in Aron's situation. Its really made me stand up and notice both Danny Boyle and James Franco also!

13 Going on 30 (Suddenly 30) 2004,  PG-13)
13 Going on 30 (Suddenly 30)
Suddenly 30 is an enjoyable romantic comedy that really showcases Jennifer Garner as such a likeable actress portraying a very likeable character in Jenna Rink, who takes a leap from being a teenager to a 30 year old woman!

13 year old Jenna Rink is sick of being a teenager and not growing up fast enough, and after making a wish to be '30 and flirty' she skips 17 years of her life and wakes up as a 30 year old woman. Struggling to come to terms with her new life, she tracks down her best friend Matt to help her, but quickly finds out they had a fall-out at her 13th Birthday Party. Disappointed with how her life has turned out she sets out to change things, starting with Matt and her career as working at a magazine called 'Poise'.

Jennifer Garner is such a likeable actress in this film and you can't help but laugh and smile when she is on screen. She does a great job playing a 13 year old in a 30 year old's body and is quite convincing. Mark Ruffalo is also likeable as Jenna's friend Matt, and Judy Greer is the character you love to hate in Lucy, but that's what Judy does best. Other cast highlights include Christa B. Allen as young Jenna and Andy Serkis as Jenna's funny boss
Richard Kneeland.

The idea has been done but it rarely gets done this well. It's the cast and likeable characters that make this film work so well and make it so enjoyable to watch. The 'Thriller' dance scene works great in the film and is a highlight, as well as watching Jenna work out her new older body. While its still a chick flick it's quite easy for guys to enjoy it as well as long as they don't take it so seriously because lets face it the film is rather corny, but not in ridiculous amounts like other films in this genre.

Overall Suddenly 30 is an enjoayble rom-com that will easily appeal to the female audience, but one that the guys can also kick back and have a good laugh at, and Jennifer Garner is a delight to watch.

The Muppets' Wizard of Oz 2005,  PG)
The Muppets' Wizard of Oz
The Muppets' Wizard Of Oz is a parody of the original Wizard Of Oz film with characters from the Muppets series as characters from the film. Corny and silly yes but still entertaining enough for me.

Dorothy Gale is an aspiring singer that is sick of making it nowhere in her town Kansas, so when she finds out the Muppets are looking for a singer she hopes to make it, but has no luck. After a twister hits her town Dorothy and her shrimp, I mean king prawn, Toto are taken to the land of Oz. After meeting Scarecrow, Tin Thing and Lion the group go and see the Wizard of Oz to help get Dororhy stardom like she has always wanted, but now a wicked witch is after Dorothy and the magic shoes she wears.

Ashanti is a delight to watch and really lights up the screen with her sweet voice and friendly nature as our leading lady Dorothy Gale. She is the only human character with more than 5 minutes of screen time. Queen Latifah and David Alan Grier are likeable as Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, who take care of Dorothy. All the talented voice actors of the Muppets have been doing this thing for a long time now and we have all grown to know their voices with the characters they portray.

So the storyline is totally corny, and it seems to go downhill a little once the wizard and the wicked witch are introduced, but at the end of the day they have done a nice little parody of the original film and I'm sure kids won't be phazed by it. Muppets fans will be pleased to see all their favourites on screen once again, but there are certainly better Muppets movies around. I also don't really think having Dorothy as a sexy R&B singer really worked, despite being a fan of Ashanti.

Overall The Muppets' Wizard Of Oz is a decent Muppets movie that is sure to please fans of both the original Oz film and the Muppets, but it will also leave others quite disappointed.

The Condemned 2007,  R)
The Condemned
The Condemned is an action-packed film about a group of convicts forced to compete against one another for their freedom. Wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin leads the pack in this very entertaining movie!

Conrad and 9 other prisoners are released on an island where they are pit against one another in order to earn their freedom, with the last man, or woman, standing alive winning both their freedom and a cash prize. TV Show producer Breckel and his team are producing the show on the island. One by one the prisoners are killed by one another as some work together, while Conrad is more interested in getting in contact with his wife rather than surviving. Will Conrad be the last man standing?

Steve Austin is great in this film and his wrestling background obviously helped in the more fast-paced and full-on scenes. Both Vinnie Jones and Robert Mammone proved to be excellent villains and were both characters you loved to hate. Other cast highlights include Aussie actresses Madeline West as Conrad's wife Sarah, and Emelia Burns as Yasantwa, a gorgeous African-American prisoner. While some of the characters were rather stereotypical, it was in a way that worked well for the film and didn't seem too corny.

The idea for this film was fantastic and great to watch as it was almost like watching a real life Reality TV show as 10 prisoners were slowly cut down one by one. Great choice in cast and the characters were both likeable and the villians were, of course, the ones you loved to hate. I did find some of the fight scenes a little messy when it came to camera work, but other than that there is little to fault in this movie. There was always something to keep you interested and always a kick-ass fight happening or about to start.

Overall The Condemned is a great action flick that I'm sure fans of wrestler Stone Cold, or wrestling in genreal, are going to love, and anyone in need of a good action film will as well!

Twilight is an iconic film from 2008 that fans of the book series from Stephanie Meyer went crazy over, and they had good to reason too as its a solid film about a young teenage girl and the vampire she falls in love with.

Bella Swan has moved from Arizona to Washington to life with her Father, and falls in love with Edward Cullen, a boy at her school. She soon begins to realize Edward is different and he eventually reveals to her that he is a vampire. Love has already taken over and the two are obviously inseperable, but Bella soon becomes in trouble after another vampire, James, obsesses over her. Edward and his family attempt to protect her from James but it might be too little too late.

Kristen Stewart was a great choice for Bella, and the film has obviously made her, and Robert Pattinson, a star. Her shy and meek ways fit the character perfectly and she does the role justice. While Edward's character is probably a little less likeable than Bella's, Robert Pattinson also does a great job with the role and it's obvious he really cares for Bella. Other cast highlights include Peter Facinelli as the Cullen Father, and Ashley Greene as Alice Cullen.

While I can see why some think the film is dull in parts I think everything that is in the film is necessary when it comes to learning about Bella and Edward's relationship, and Edward's family. Its a great tale of forbidden love and is shown perfectly, so Stephenie Meyer has obviously done a great job there. Visually the film looks crisp and clear with some great special effects also. The characters are likeable and there is always enough to keep you watching and wanting more.

Overall Twilight was an impressive start to the series of Twilight films, which are still being released. Fans of the book series will surely be impressed and its going to win more fans along the way!

Rogue 2008,  R)
Rogue
Rogue is an impressive Australian Horror film about a massive Crocodile terrorizing a group of tourists on a tour guide on the river. Its a solid Horror and another gem from the Aussies that Americans can now also enjoy!

Kate Ryan leads a tour group down the rivers of Kakadu National Park, with American travel writer Pete McKell as one of the passengers. The group soon encounter a deadly territorial crocodile that begins to terrorize the group knocking them out of their boat. Stranded on a small island, the group wait for help but soon night falls and they need to work together to try and outsmart the crocodile in order to stay alive. Both Kate and Pete take charge but this crocodile is smart and not easy to defeat!

Radha Mitchell is impressive as tour guide Kate Ryan, and convincing as our lead female. She's a strong female lead and never fails to impress with her roles. Michael Vartan is good, at times slightly irritating and tends to over-use a certain swear word, but acting wise he delivers. Other cast highlights include Sam Worthington as bad boy Neil Kelly, and some of the older actors like John Jarrat and Heather Mitchell really shine playing the more mature characters.

While the croc movie has been done before its never been this successful and convincing, despite the crocodile obviously being a little bit extreme and large. The characters are stereotypical but they work well and thats thanks to the cast and also by the selection of who lives and dies. Its slow at first but once the action begins it really never stops and its quite intense to watch! Its definitley up there as one of the most impressive films to come out of Australia.

Overall Rogue is a solid Horror monster movie with plenty for fans of the genre. It's surely done for crocs what Jaws did for sharks and at the end of the day I'm sure they'd be happy with that.

The Wedding Singer 1998,  PG-13)
The Wedding Singer
The Wedding Singer is an iconic 90's comedy film and one of Adam Sandler's shining moments as a wedding singer who seems to be unlucky in love. Despite being released back in 1998 it's taken me until now to finally see it, and I really liked it!

Wedding singer Robbie Hart has just been dumped by his girlfriend Linda who decided not to show up at their wedding. He hopes to find love again, and it seems he does in a waitress, Julia, who is already engaged to Glenn. Determined to win Julia over Robbie stops at nothing to impress her and to show her that Glenn isn't the right guy for her. The two instantly have a great connection and despite Julia already being engaged, and Linda trying to come back into Robbies life, they are determiend to be together.

Both Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore really shine in this film, and for once I found myself really enjoying Adam's performance and liking his character which is rare in his films for me. Drew Barrymore howver always seems to play a likeable character and never fails to disappoint being such a likeable actress also. Christine Taylor was funny as Julia's cousin Holly, and both Matthew Glave and Angela Featherstone were unlikeable as they were meant to be as Robbie and Julia's partnets who simply weren't made for them.

Like most 90's comedies this hits all the right notes in that its simply an enjoyable film to watch. Thanks to a creative script, likeable characters and the cast its easily one of my favouirte Adam Sandler films if not his best. Its great watching Robbie and Julia begin to fall for each other despite both still having partners. The songs are great, especially's Robbie's heart-felt song about Linda which has become quite memorable over the years, and the final song is also a stand-out.

Overall The Wedding Singer is an enjoyable and highly likeable film that fans of both Adam and Drew will need to make sure they have seen it. Its hard not to like it!

Vampires Suck 2010,  PG-13)
Vampires Suck
Vampires Suck is a spoof film of the first two Twilight films, and once again Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer have delivered us another parody flick that simply isn't funny enough.

Becca Crane moves to live with her Father where she falls in love with Edward Sullen, who is soon revealed as a vampire. While falling in love with Edward, she also takes shining to another boy, Jacob White, who is soon revealed as a wolf. Becca tries her best to impress Edward's family with little success, and also has trouble at school where everyone is getting ready for the prom. What will happen and who will Becca chose? All will be revealed at the high school prom!

Unforntuatley there are no actors worthy of mentioning as stand-outs in the film despite there actually being some decent actors there. While playing a dull character in Becca, Jenn Proske is still no leading lady. Matt Lanter is funny as Edward and probably better than Jenn, but irritating at times. I was delighted to see Anneliese van der Pol in the film, but disappointed with her irrating character who was meant to resemble Jessica from Twilight but came nowhere near.

With the exception of their first two spoof films, Friedberg & Seltzer are struggling to come up with new ideas. This film could have been great but instead they struggled with the lacklusture jokes that always seemed to go on for too long. I chuckled here and there, and I think they blended the two Twilight films together quite well, but it needed so much more to be up there with the parody flicks that simply got it right, and insetad it sits with their other failures like Disaster Movie and Meet the Spartans.

Overall Vampires Suck really did suck and they had so much to work with but ended up failing to deliver a spoof film that could really make you laugh.

Underworld 2003,  R)
Underworld
An impressive start to what has been a great series, so far anyway! It brings two world together being vampires & werewolves, and puts them in the one film which was a great idea. While it's a little slow in some parts it picks up well when it needs too, and with a great cast lead by Kate Beckinsale as our female heroine Selene, the series was never going to do wrong! Overall it will keep both Horror & Action fans pleased, and the sequels have yet to disappoint me, so bring on Awakening!

Underworld: Evolution 2006,  R)
Underworld: Evolution
Just as impressive as the first Underworld film complete with plenty of Action & Horror to keep the fans happy. Kate is back once again proving to be the ultimate female heroine, as is Scott Speedman who plays Michael. Storyline is a little darker and we start making sense of more things from the first film. While the film can seem a little slow at times when the action starts it certainly doesn't slow down and I think that's the series strong point, so it's well worth a look :)

Underworld: The Rise of the Lycans 2009,  R)
Underworld: The Rise of the Lycans
This was a very impressive prequel that easily surpassed the two original films because I was much more interested in the revolution of the lycans more than Selene & the vampires. It's a little more darker but it has a great storyline and it's very interesting hearing about the history of the characters. Acting wise everyone pulls their weight but Bill Nighy is the ultimate villain and Michael Sheen has made a great transition from villain to hero :) Overall a great fim, can't wait for number 4!
42
Mean Girls 2004,  PG-13)
Mean Girls
Mean Girls is one of the most iconic teenage films of the 21st century, and it arguably made Lindsay Lohan a star before her career came crashing down. It would be hard to find a teenager from 2004 that didn not see this film!

Homeschooled her whole life, Cady Heron finally enrolls at a high school when she turns 16 and is thrust into what life as a teenage girl at high school is really like. She makes an instant connection with Janis and Damian who think it would be funny for Cady to pretend to be one of the popular girls, called the plastics, lead by Regina George. After quickly falling into their group, Cady quickly becomes one of them and soon forgets who her true friends really are. Soon the lies are out and Cady must fix what she has done before its too late.

Lindsay Lohan was perfect in this and the role of Cady probably couldn't have worked with a better actress than her. Rachel McAdams was also a spot on choice as bitchy Regina George. Other cast highlights include Tina Fey as Cady's maths teacher, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried as Regina's friends Gretchen and Karen, both fantastic characters, and I must mention Regina's Mother played by Amy Poehler who provides a few good laughs.

The storyline is great as there has never really been a film like it, and while the 'high school' movie has been done a number of times, Mean Girls brings something new to the genre. It's easily the best quoteable film I can think of with so many one-liners from the characters, especially dumb Karen. The events play out at all the right times as well with a rather dramatic final few scenes before the finish. I think the cast had a lot to do with the films success as they all bring that something unique to their characters.

Overall Mean Girls is a great film and one I don't think I can ever get tired of watching. It's one that everyone should check out, and I'm interested to see what the sequel is going to be like, though I'm not keeping my hopes up ;)
43
Mean Girls 2 2011,  PG-13)
Mean Girls 2
Mean Girls 2 isn't exacting a disappointing sequel because I was never expecting it to be as good or better than the original, but for what its worth it could have been much worse and provided some entertainment for the night.

Jo is the new girl at school after moving around because her Father is a Nascar driver. She quickly comes into contact with The Plastics, three popular girls at school that seem somewhat threatned by Jo's existance there. After befriending Abby, and even accepting a money offer from Abby's Father to be friends with her, Jo and The Plastics go head to head and become instant rivals. Meanwhile Jo falls in love with Tyler, who happens to be Mandi's (the leader of The Plastics) half-Brother, meaning Mandi will make Jo's time at school a living hell.

Meaghan Martin plays Jo, the lead character in the film and a similar role to Cady's in the first Mean Girls film. She's decent enough if not slightly dull at times. Maiara Walsh is bitchy Mandi, a role almost exactly like Regina's, but Maiara is no Rachel McAdams and nowhere evil enough to be the film's villain. While it was great to see Tim Meadows back from the first film, none of the other actors return, and the film is filled with unknown teenage stars and really missed having more adult roles like the first film had with actors like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Its hard not to compare this film to the first Mean Girls movie because being a direct sequel it should have been similar, but insetad they basically copied the exact storyline and changed a few things here and there to disguise that. It was entertaining enough but so very corny at all the wrong moments, and the characters and actors had nothing on the originals. Some sub-plots (like Abby's Father's pay-out to Jo) were simply stupid, but like the first film there were a few good one-liners that made me laugh.

Overall Mean Girls 2 doesn't even come close to being as good as the original, but at the end of the day fans will probably like it to some extent and manage to enjoy it like I did.

Just Friends 2005,  PG-13)
Just Friends
Just Friends is a hilarious comedy that shows the strong friendship between high school buddies Chris and Jamie and Chris' determination to be so much more than friends, and watching the journey is half the fun!

Chris Brander is in love, with his best friend Jamie Palamino, and decides to tell her on their graduating night. After the big reveal didn't work out Chris and Jamie soon had a fall out and Chris moved away. 10 years later, Chris is making it big in Hollywood, and currently helping popstar Samantha James make it big in the industry. After having flight troubles Chris ends up back in his home town where he is reuinted with Jamie and the two soon hit it off all over again. Now Chris is determined to win Jamie back, despite some tough competition from loser turned heart throb Dusty.

Ryan Reynolds is a very likeable actor and plays a likeable character in Chris Brander despite being somewhat of a jerk at times. Amy Smart is also great as Jamie and while she doesn't exactly stand out as a lead actress she is good for the role. Anna Faris is absolutley hilarious as Samantha James, and is easily the highlight of the film. She has so many funny moments that made me literally laugh out loud. Other cast highlighs include Chris Marquette as Chris' brother Mike, and the two show a great brother relationship in the film, and Chris Klein as Dusty.

As corny and somewhat predictable at times its one of those films that you can still easily enjoy despite knowing what's going to happen. The likeable characters like Chris and Jamie are great, and then there's characters like Samantha and even Dusty that you love to hate at times. The relationship between Chris and Jamie is portrayed well, and even the brotherly relationship between Chis and Mike is really fun to watch. All the events played out at the right times making for an evenly spread out film.

Overall Just Friends is a joy to watch with so many funny moments and its definitley one of my favourite comedies out there with both Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris as clear stand-out actors in the film.

Anaconda 1997,  PG-13)
Anaconda
Anaconda is an iconic monster movie from the late 90's that will be memorable for being totally corny but still highly enjoyable to watch for anyone that enjoys nothing more but a good monster flick!

Terri Flores and her documentary team have taken a boat down the Amazon in search for a missing tribe. They come across poacher Paul Serone who wants the team's help to catch an anaconda after saving one of their own team members. The team is willing but soon regret the decision after Serone becomes rather possessvie of their boat and soon takes control. Now the anaconda is hot on their trail and soon their lives are in jeopardy and nobody is safe with this massive snake on the loose.

While she might be more known for her singing career now Jennifer Lopez was also an actress back in the 90's, and she's surprisingly good in this film playing a strong female lead character in Terri. Jon Voight does great as the film's villain, but there's no surprise there. Ice Cube provides some comic relief as your stereotypical black man out in the wild with a corny comment for everything. I also quite liked Kari Wuhrer as Denise, the other female on the boat, and while her role is smaller than Terri's her character is quite likeable also.

There's no doubt that this is a corny film and that is aparent from the first 5 minutes so once you accept that and enjoy it for what is its much easier to watch. Like other monster movies it takes a while to get a good look at our anaconda, and while once we do its a slighty tacky robot, its decent enough for the late 90's and would have probably look awesome then. There is never a dull moment with something always keeping you interested, and the death scenes are very impressive (and there are a couple too).

Overall Anaconda is an impressive Horror flick that's managed to spawn three sequels afterwards. The cast and storyline was what made this film work so well and I quite enjoyed watching it.

Anacondas - The Hunt for the Blood Orchid 2004,  PG-13)
Anacondas - The Hunt for the Blood Orchid
Anacondas: The Hunt For The Blood Orchid is an impressive sequel to the 90's Horror film that's managed to better it also with a much better storyline and plot and more characters to associate with.

A team of scientists head to Borneo to search for a flower that offers the fountain of youth, and the team hope to make it the biggest drug since Penicillin. After finding boat driver Bill Johnson they head off in search for the flower but soon come across a deadly waterfall which destroys the boat and sends the team on foot in search for the flower. They also come across a deadly group of anacondas determined to make a meal of the team, but its not just the anacondas they need to worry about as money starts to get the best of one of them.

Johnny Messner is fantastic as our male lead Bill Johnson and a very likeable character also. I think a character like his was missing in the first Anaconda film. KaDee Strickland is also great as the female lead Sam Rogers, who surprises us all as at first we assume Gail Stern, played by Salli Richardson-Whitfield, will be the stand-out female role but she tends to be overshadowed by Sam. Other cast highlights would definitley include Matthew Marsden as Jack Byron, who is driven by nothing but money.

Unlike the first Anaconda film there is a little more going on here with a more realistic storyline and motive for being in the jungle, and a more likeable group of characters. While there are many similarities in both characters and storyline, the events seem to play out a little better in this film. The anacondas look much better as CGI has obviously come a long way since 1997. I think it did take a little longer for the action to kick into gear, but its a rather full-on ending!

Overall Anacondas: The Hunt For The Blood Orchid is an action packed monster movie that fans of the first will be more than pleased with, and it will certainly please many that watch it!

Anaconda III 2008,  R)
Anaconda III
Anaconda 3: Offspring isn't exactly a disappointing third film in the Anaconda series as I was hardly expecting to be great. Its amusing enough for a B-grade Horror film but one that nobody could possibly take seriously.

A genetically modified anaconda has escaped from a research lab and now its up to Amanda Hayes and a team of hunters to track the large snake down before it makes it out into the public. They are assisted by Hammett, an expert in catching snakes and he makes sure that this anaconda doesn't get away from him. The team are, however, running against the clock as this anaconda is getting bigger, faster and stronger with the more time they waste in trying to catch her.

Crystal Allen is decent enough despite being an unknown actress in such a large role for the film. She is probably the only decent cast member as even a big name like David Hasselhoff is wasted as his character is irritating and overused. John Rhys-Davies wins the most annoying award with his extremley irritating and annoying character Murdoch. The only other cast member worthy enough of a mention would be Patrick Regis who plays Nick, the stand-out male in the film despite not being the lead male.

If you thought the first and second Anaconda films were corny well you haven't seen nothing yet! The special effects are terrible but for a company like this its really what you expect. While its amusing and funny its rarely scary like it should be and you seem to simply spend most of the time paying it out and picking on the flaws, and there are plenty of those. Nothing seemed to flow well at all, but what it lacked in storyline, etc it certainly made up for in entertainment.

Overall Anaconda 3: Offspring will certainly disappoint fans of the first two films, but for those that can't get enough of corny B-grade Horror then this might just be the film for you, but prepare to laugh when you should be!
48
Anacondas: Trail of Blood 2009,  R)
Anacondas: Trail of Blood
Anacondas: Trail Of Blood is a poor effort and if you thought it couldn't get any worse than the third installment then along came the fourth film. Nothing seemed to go right in a film that was all about what not to do.

Amanda Hayes is back and still determined to stop anacondas from wrecking havoc after they escape from a research centre. She enlists the help of a new team to stop them, along with money hungry big boss Murdoch who is using the snake to help him with his own illness. In the middle of it all are a group of backpackers who are simply at the wrong place at the wrong time as the anacondas soon begin to make a meal of these innocent people. Can Amanda and her team save the day?

Crystal Allen and John Rhys-Davies are the first actors to ever return in an Anaconda sequel, and while I'm OK with Crystal coming back we certainly didn't need to see the extremley annoying John Rhys-Davies and his irritating character Murdoch back in the picture. Crystal's character Amanda is the only character worth watching as all the others are stereotypical hunters. The actors portraying the backpackers were reasonable but still slightly annoying at times.

Unlike the third the fourth installment hardly seems to feature the anacondas in it, and when we finally do see them its more than laughable CGI we are watching. There is such a poor storyline this time 'round that's almost made the third film seem like its well worth watching compared to this one. I still get a kick out of watching a corny death scene so it wins points for that, but at the end of the day it makes the first and second Anaconda films look like masterpieces.

Overall Anacondas: Trail Of Blood is a sad mess of a film that I would never reccomend, not even for fans of the series, but if you somehow enjoyed the third then I'm sure you might be interested to know what happens in this one.

Shutter Island 2010,  R)
Shutter Island
Shutter Island is a very intriguing Thriller like no other film, and it will really have you hooked from the beginning and shocked at the end with a twist to really get you thinking!

Detective Teddy Daniels and his partner Chuck Aule are investigating a patients disappearance on Shutter Island, where a mental hospital is located. Soon enough Teddy begins to notice not everything is as it seems, and that the staff on Shutter Island are hiding something from Teddy. He begins to dig deeper discovering more about the mysterious disapperance of the patient as well as fighting his own demons as he struggles with the death of his wife Dolores. What secrets is Shutter Island really hiding?

Leonardo Dicaprio is amazing in this film and really shines playing Teddy Daniels. I've always liked him as an actor, but after seeing this film I really respect him also as his talent really shows. I would say he is the obvious stand-out but other cast highlights include Michelle Williams as his deceased wife Dolores who still haunts him, and Mark Ruffalo as his partner Chuck Aule. I found Ben Kingsley's character Dr. John Cawley quite irritating but he still played it well.

There's no easier way to put this; this movie will mess with your mind. After seeing it for a second time things make more sense and knowing the twist also makes it fun to spot things you never noticed before. Its a great film that really peaks at the right moments as well with the final moments revealing one massive twist the highlight of the film. I will say it takes a while to really get going but once you get hooked there's no stopping as you are caught up in the storyline.

Overall Shutter Island is a great film that has the twist of the year that will have everyone talking. I really enjoyed watching it and would highly reccomend it!

Urban Legend 1998,  R)
Urban Legend
Urban Legend is a decent Horror flick from the late 90's that managed to keep me amused with some decent deaths and a creative storyline bringing those famous Urban Legends we all know and love to life!

There seems to be a killer on campus at Pendleton University and Natalie is determined to find out who it is before it's too late! After the death of her high school friend Michelle and her campus friends begin to go missing its obvious that the killer is trying to get to her, and it seems the killer is using famous Urban Legends to kill their victims. Now its up to Natalie and the campus reporter Paul to try and save the day, along with the help of campus security Reese Wilson, who seems to be rather underestimated.

Most of the actors in this film are quite well known, except for, oddly enough, the lead Alicia Witt, who plays Natalie. She's decent but not strong enough for a lead I don't believe. Jared Leto is likeable as Paul and even Joshua Jackson who plays Damon, a character we obviously aren't meant to like very much, is quite amusing to watch. Tara Reid is great as Sasha, the hot blonde for the film, and even Rebecca Gayheart is great as Brenda. Overall the all-star cast is one of the elements that makes this film great.

Everyone knows them, those famous Urban Legends we all got told as a child to scare us, well in this film they come to life in mostly rather amusing situations. I think the idea was great and portrayed well. Its not the best Horror film that came from the 90's and the sequels certainly didn't improve, but for what it's worth it's an entertaining film that has some great death scenes and moments of suspense and old school 90's Horror. It also has a twist that would have been difficult to see coming as its never really happened in a film like this before.

Overall Urban Legend is a pretty good Horror flick that has enough to keep fans of the genre pleased with its all-star cast and twists and turns right up 'till the very end!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon 2009,  PG-13)
The Twilight Saga: New Moon
New Moon is an impressive sequel to the first Twilight film that introduces us to Jacob; the man between Bella and Edward being together, and the next step in their relationship.

After an incident with Edward's family he reliazes that Bella won't be safe while he is around, so Edward decides to leave Bella thinking she will be better off without her. Lost without him, Bella turns to her friend Jacob, and the two soon become rather close, but like Edward was, Jacob is also hiding something from Bella which is soon revealed to be Jacob is a werewolf. While struggling to define her feelings for Jacob, Edward comes back into her life and soon Bella must make a decision with who she wants and who she will leave heartbroken.

Once again both Kirsten Stewart and Robert Pattinson prove to be great for their roles, but this time 'round we get to see more of Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob, and what a great character he will be for the series. Taylor is perfect for the role and, in my opinion, is more likeable as a character than Edward is. We are also introduced to more character from both the werewolf and vampire worlds, with Dakota Fanning as a main stand-out for me as vampire Jane, and Michael Sheen as Aro.

Twilight fans would have loved this, and while I can't see it winning many more new fans along the way being a rather soppy and melodramatic film I still quite enjoyed it. There is less going on than in the first one, but I liked finding out more about Jacob and his family. The voltouri, a clan of vampires, also really held my interst and were great for the film, even though they were only in it for a short time. The Twilight films are tricky ones because you will either love or hate them, and I happen to love them.

Overall New Moon is a great sequel and another impressive chapter in the series that has obviously stayed true to the novels, and having seen Eclipse I can't wait for Breaking Dawn!
52
Urban Legends: Final Cut 2000,  R)
Urban Legends: Final Cut
Urban Legends: Final Cut is decent sequel to the Horror film from the late 90's, and while the first is probably a little better I still managed to get my kicks out of this one and I'm sure others will as well.

Film student Amy Mayfield decides to make a film about a killer who kills his victims by basing them on Urban Legends, thanks to the idea from a security guard. Shortly after beginning the film her fellow students begin to go missing and like the victims in her film, turn up dead. Amy soon thinks that the killer is after the Hitchcock award she is also hoping to win, and teams up with Trevor Stark, and security guard Reese, to try and solve who the killer is before it's too late and the final cut is delivered!

Jennifer Morrison is much better than Alicia Witt from the first Urban Legends film as the female lead Amy, and she is very convincing as well as likeable. Like the first film, the actors are relatively well known. Matthew Davis plays both Travis and Trevor Stark, who are Brothers, and while likeable he is somewhat stereotypical, as is Amy's friend Vanessa, who happens to be a bas-ass lesbian. Once again Loretta Devine is back as Reese Wilson, and is just as sassy as she was in the first film, and it was great to see her back.

While there are less Urban Legends featured in this film it still magages to have the same effect the first one did. Its another creative idea and delievered well and it also seemed a little more polished than the first film did. Comparing aside; Final Cut also has some decent deaths and as a stand-alone film it does the job. Its not the best Horror has had to offer, and received quite a bit of slack from critics, but I enjoyed it and I'm sure others did also.

Overall Urban Legends: Final Cut is a passable sequel and has what it takes to make for an entertaining bit of Horror fun, and fans of the first film would have LOVED the ending like I did :)

Tarzan 1999,  G)
Tarzan
Tarzan is one of Disney's last classic animated films before they moved more into CGI, and what a way to end with this brilliant film. Everyone knows the tale but Disney brings it for all ages to enjoy.

Saved from a gorilla at birth, young Tarzan is raised by the apes and thinks he is the only one like him until a group of humans enter the jungle and Tarzan discovers them. Tarzan instantly falls in love with Jane, but Jane's guide Clayton plans to use Tarzan to get to the gorillas he lives with. Once gaining Tarzan's trust they are lead straight to the gorillas where Clayton and his crew take over control. Can Tarzan and Jane save the day and the gorillas Tarzan has been raised by?

All the voice talents are spot on for their roles and the actors portraying them. Tony Goldwyn plays Tarzan, who is obviously a likeable character you are meant to support, like Jane, played by Minnie Driver. Jane's quirky personality and funny quotes make her just as likeable as Tarzan. Clayton, played by Brian Blessed, is one of many evil Disney villains that you don't want to meet in a dark alley, and the kids will be sure to despise him. I also rather enjoyed Terk, voiced by Rosie O'Donnell, and Tantor, voiced by Wayne Knight, who provide the comic relief where it's needed.

Its a classic tale and has been developed in many films, but none like a Disney classic and it instantly falled into Disney's category of their classic films. From beginning to end you are hooked in a tale of self-discovery for Tarzan and the romance between him and Jane. Phil Collins also provides all the music and the 5 main songs in the film, all of which are fantastic and really complete the film. Its the perfect film for all ages and one Disney should be very proud of.

Overall Tarzan is one of my favourite Disney classics and one I would definitley reccomend for fans of all things Disney and those that are in need of a great kids film that simply isn't just for kids.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse 2010,  PG-13)
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Eclipse is the third film in the Twilight series, and in my opinion the most impressive so far. Things finally get moving and there are some fantastic action scenes in there!

No longer torn between Edward and Jacob, Bella plans to spend her life with Edward but not before a secret alliance of newborn vampires threatens her after visiting her hometown. In order to protect Bella, Edward and the Cullens must enlist the help of Jacob and the werewolves to keep her safe. With Jacob still hanging around Bella's feelings towards him are resurfaced and now she is torn once again. With the newborns closing in, and Bella in more danger than ever with Victoria back in town she has only Edward and Jacob to protect her.

The three leads (Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson & Taylor Lautner) are once again more than impressive in this film. The focus shifts somewhat back to Edward after New Moon having a strong focus on Jacob. Edward still remains to be less likeable than Jacob. New to the series is Xavier Samuel as Riley, one of the newborn vampires, and he does a respectable job. Bryce Dallas Howard is also new to the series as Victoria, replacing Rachelle Lefevre, though I must say I prefer Rachelle.

Unlike the first two films Eclipse kicks straight into gear introducing us to Riley and how he becomes a vampire. In fact, the best thing about Eclipse was finding out how both Rosalie and Jasper became vampires. I also highly enjoyed the fight scene between the Cullens/werewolves and the newborn vampires, a stand-out moment in the film. There are some rather dull romance scenes in between but there are also some great scenes with some very important character development.

Overall Eclipse is my favourite from the series and I can't wait to see Breaking Dawn and finally find out who Bella chooses as I'm one of those that hasn't read the books.

Final Destination 2000,  R)
Final Destination
Final Destination is an action-packed Thriller that really makes you think about those little decisions you make every day. It's spawned three great sequels so far but here's where it all began!

Alex Browning has a preminition that the plane he has just boarded is about to crash, therefore he freaks out and is removed off the plane along with five of his friends and his teacher. The plane then explodes, leaving the seven survivors shocked that they had just survived. However, it seemed death wasn't finished with them as one by one they begin to fall victim to death's plan. Now its up to Alex to try and break the system and try and beat death once and for all to save him and his remaining friends!

Devon Sawa is great as the lead and plays quite a likeable character in Alex, but its Ali Larter, who plays Clear Rivers, who is the real stand-out. Clear is a very likeable character and Ali is perfect for the role. Kerr Smith plays that chatacter we all love to hate in Carter Horton, and you almost want to see him die! Seann William Scott plays a very differnet character to his well known Stiffler role, as he plays nerdy Billy. I also thought Kristen Cloke was great as the survivng teacher Valerie Lewton.

While the idea is extremley corny and highly unlikely I think its portrayed perfectly and the film starts off in such a dramatic way with an unforgettable plane explosion. From there we have some very memorable death scenes one after the other! They seem to take the time out to really explain things to you, but in a way that still makes it enjoyable to watch. Its certainly an entertaining film and one that if you don't take too seriously you will find yourself enjoying it much more.

Overall Final Destination is an iconic Horror film from 2000 that any true Horror fan will just love, and its been the start of a great series of films!

Final Destination 2 2003,  R)
Final Destination 2
Final Destination 2 is a decent sequel to what was a great Horror flick released in 2000, but unforntuatley it seems to almost make a joke of the original and doesn't come anywhere close to matching it.

Kimberly Corman has a premonition that there is about to be a car pile-up on a freeway she was just about to enter. She chooses not to enter the freeway and just after doing so the accident happens, saving her and the line of cars behind her that would have been in it also. Soon enough it seems that death wasn't finished with them, and one by the one the people meant to die in that crash begin to die in freak accidents. Now its up to Kimberly and Officer Thomas Burke to try and cheat death before its their time, and the only person that can help them is survivor of Flight 180 Clear Rivers.

A.J. Cook is decent but she's no match for Ali Larter, and its great to see her back for the sequel! I found Kimberly (A.J.'s character) to be a tad annoying, and even Officer Thomas Burke, played by Michael Landes, was somewhat stereotypical. However, this trio worked well together and kept the film together. Most of the other survivors of the crash were extremley unlikeable and each death scene almost made you a little happy inside. I also enjoyed seeing Tony Todd back to portray that creepy role from the first film.

Unlike the first Final Destination film this one is extremley corny with many eye-rolling moments and that was a real let-down. While the death scenes, including that spectacular car pile-up at the beginning, look great on film, they seemed thrown in for kicks. What it lacked in storyline was made up for what we were watching visually, and while I was certainly entertained it was a struggle to enjoy in a particular 'explaniation' scene.

Overall Final Destinaton 2 is still a respectable sequel in the end but one that could have been better. Death scenes are what make it but it just lacked a decent storyline.

Scary Movie 3 2003,  PG-13)
Scary Movie 3
Scary Movie 3 is the third installment in the Scary Movie series and for the first time the Wayans Brothers aren't around to star or direct. Instead Director David Zucker gives his own personal touch and it obviously works as it is definitley an improvement on the sequel! Both Cindy and Brenda are back as Cindy tries to beat a killer video tape which kills anyone that watches it after 7 days. Meanwhile farmer Tom and his brother George are experiencing alien activity on their farm, and this could be related to the tape as George and Cindy attempt to help each other out.

Anna Faris is back for a third time as Cindy Campbell and its obvious she is the shining star in this film providing the majority of the laughs like she did in the first two films. Regina Hall also returns and like Anna she delivers many of the laughs thanks to her crazy character Brenda Meeks. All the other characters are new to the series but welcome additions like Charlie Sheen and Simon Rex as brothers Tom and George, both who are great and very funny. Anthony Anderson and Kevin Hart are also hilarious as George's rapper friends Mahalik and CJ, as is Leslie Nielsen as President Harris.

Films parodied in the third installment range from Sings to The Ring to 8 Mile, and while not every film parodied is a Horror film it still works pretty well and the storyline is very creative. Almost all of the jokes work perfectly and no matter how many times I see or hear them they are still just as funny, and that's thanks to the actors delivery of them. I especially loved Brenda's scene with Tabitha, the evil girl from The Ring, and Regina Hall did a great job delivering the laughs for that one!

Overall Scary Movie 3 is easily one of my favourite spoof films and it proved that losing the Wayans Brothers from the series didn't hurt at all as it only got better! I would highly reccomend this to anyone in need of a good laugh!

Final Destination 3 2006,  R)
Final Destination 3
Final Destination 3 is the third installment in the series and definitley an improvement on the sequel, possibly due to the fact that James Wong has returned after directing the first but not the second film. Unlike the sequel there are no returning characters but a similar storyline as a group of teens survive a rollercoaster crash after Wendy has a premonition that it would. Now it seems death is after the survivors as one by one they are mysteriously killed in freak accidents. Now its up to Wendy and her friend Kevin to cheat death before its too late!

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a decent lead actress and plays a likeable character in Wendy Christensen. Ryan Merriman is also quite liekable as her friend Kevin, and both character are definitley more likeable than Kimberly and Thomas were in the sequel. Kris Lemche portrays one of the more evil characters, Ian, perfectly and you can't help but love to dislike the guy. Props must go to some of the more smaller roles like Ashley and Ashlyn, portrayed by Chelan Simmons and Crystal Lowe, who couldn't be anymore convincing as the clueless duo!

While the storyline couldn't be anymore similar to the first two films its definitley less corny and a little more realistic than the sequel which really crossed the line a little too much. The opening scene with the rollercoaster crash is fantastic along with the final scene too. As we all know the Final Destination films are well known for the death scenes and there are definitley some more than impressive ones here also. Apart from that there is more of a storyline to this film too and less time is spent on explaining things to the audience like the first two films seemed to do.

Overall Final Destination 3 is a great addition to the series and definitley made an improvement on the sequel and is just as good as the original. Horror buffs should feel right at home here!

Scream 1996,  R)
Scream
Scream is the start of the iconic trilogy that's about to get it's fourth installment next month, but this is where it all began back in 1996. From the creative minds of Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, Scream is the Horror film that put slasher films back on the map thanks to the 'whodunnit' storyline that follows Sidney Campbell, a high school student tormented by a masked killer that terrorizes the small town of Woodsburro. Now its up to Sidney and her friends to unmask the killer before its too late and they end up dead!

Neve Campbell is no stranger to 90's films and this was obviously her big break. She is fantastic as our female lead Sidney Prescott. Like the other teen characters in the film Neve was great for the role as was Skeet Ulrich as her slighty creepy boyfriend Billy. Courteney Cox is also fantasic as news reporter Gale Weathers, and David Arquette is more than likeable as Tatum's (Rose McGowan) brother Dewey Riley. Props also go to Drew Barrymore who really makes a small role really work in the opening scene playing the infamous first victim Casey.

From start to finish you are hooked on the 'whodunnit' storyline and if its the first time watching it you are always kept guessing! Horror films had started to go downhill in the early 90's so when Scream came along the genre was completley reinvented to what it has become today. The cast really make this film work well but its that creative storyline that Kevin Williamson can take full credit for that really made Scream work like it did.

Overall Scream is a fantastic and thrilling slasher flick that any 90's teen should have definitley seen and any Horror fan of today should make sure they do not miss out on! Bring on #4!!!

Black Christmas 2006,  R)
Black Christmas
Black Christmas is the remake to the 1974 Horror film giving audiences of today a fresh take on the events of the original. Its a rather graphic slasher flick with Director and Writer Glen Morgan giving us what any true Horror fan loves, however its also very corny and hard to take seriously at times with stupid moves made by the female cast and over the top death scenes done purely for the thill and the blood. It will certainly entertain those who love a cheap thrill & kill, but maybe not those after a little more.

Katie Cassidy leads the mostly all-female cast as Kelli, a likeable character but perhaps not the strongest actress for the lead role. I felt Michelle Tratchenberg, who plays Melissa, was a better choice as she was great for the film and her character was also very likeable. Unlike Kelli and Melissa the other female characters weren't as likeable like the bitchy Dana or the drunken Lauren. Without giving too much away the killer was great for the film and provided us with some great death scenes, and the actor portraying them did a top-notch job.

I haven't seen the original so I don't know how true they stayed to it, but visually this film looked great and had a decent storyline that maybe lacked some consistency. As mentioned the death scenes were great but a little over the top to really get the thrills and spills for the audience. The back-story about the killer worked well also and a nice little twist was thrown in too so you were guessing the entire film. The characters weren't the smartest I must admit so that left you a little dumfounded at their stupid mistakes here and there.

Overall Black Christmas is an entertaining Horror film that should please those who love the genre, but it sports some flaws that will disappoint others like it did with me.

Scream 2 1997,  R)
Scream 2
Scream 2 is the sequel to the 1996 smash hit for Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, and the duo are back for the sequel which manages to impress just like the first did! Sidney, Dewey, Gale and Randy are all back as another killer is on the loose and stalking Sidney and her friends. Is it a copycat killer ready or could Billy or Stu be back? Like the first Scream film the sequel is just as impressive and fans will love to see it back just as strong delivering even more blood, gore and creative kills!

Like in the first film; Neve, David, Courteney and Jamie all deliver the goods with their returning characters, especially Jamie Kennedy as Randy, who tells us how a sequel differs to the first film. New characters include Sidney's new boyfriend Derek, played by Jerry O'Connell, and Sid's roommate Hallie, played by one of my favourite actresses Elise Neal. All the characters are extremley likeable which really makes you feel for them and what's happening when the killer comes on the scene.

It was always going to be hard to match the original film, and while it didn't it's certainly an impressive sequel that kept fans happy. The opening scene is just like the first film's opening scene; fantastic and iconic! Following on from the events of the first it seems to tie up some of those lose ends and almost everything that happens is relevant to some of the events from the first. Like Randy stated the kills are bloodier and the body count is higher, and we certainly live up to that here. The element of comedy from the first film is also still here too which I realy like.

Overall Scream 2 is a sequel that really worked on so many levels and has managed to spawn a third and a fourth coming out next month! I can't wait!

The Rite 2011,  PG-13)
The Rite
The Rite is like every good exorcism film in that it can be slow in parts, but when it comes to the actual exorcism you are on the edge of your seat! That's what happens when exorcism student Michael Kovak is put in the position where he needs to perform an exorcism, with the help of Father Lucas Trevant. But it isn't all over as Father Lucas also becomes posessed and now the student must help the teacher before its too late!

While Colin O'Donoghue, who plays Michael, is the lead actor in this film there's no doubt about it that its Anthony Hopkins, who plays Father Lucas, is the real star. Colin has received some criticism for not being a strong lead, and I must agree. Anthony Hopkins is, as always, in fine form and in the genre that suits him well. He really shines in the final scenes where he is posessed. Alice Braga is a decent female lead, but once again another actress, Marta Gastini, who plays a possessed patient Rosaria, overshined her. I think playing a possessed character makes you stand-out over a character who is sane.

As mentioned earlier this film is a little slow to get going, but once the exorcisms begin and we get to see and hear all sorts of crazy it becomes quite exciting. The acting, especially from Hopkins, is very good, and its fair to say that without his performance that this film might have fallen flat. Its a good storyline that follows Michael's journey to Italy to become an exorcist, and the struggles he has with his true identity and what he wants to become. At the end of the day without those exciting exorcism scenes I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it like I did.

Overall The Rite will please Horror fans, especially those interested in exorcism and all things about the devil. Anthony Hopkins is the shining star here and its definitley worth a look!

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief 2010,  PG)
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief is the first in what I'm hoping to be a series of great adventure films to come. Based on the Rick Riordan novels, the film follows young Percy Jackson, the son of a god who has only realized who his Father really is. Now the gods think Percy has stolen a lightening bolt, and its up to Percy and his new friends Grover & Annabeth to find out who the real culprit is while saving his Mother at the same time.

Logan Lerman is more than likeable as young Percy Jackson, and being a similar lead character to the likes of Harry Potter it needed an actor like Logan. Brandon T. Jackson plays Percy's protector and best friend Grover, and while being borderline stereotypical, he's still a likeable character also, as is Percy's love interest Annabeth. As far as the adult actors go there is a list of well-known stars from Pierce Brosnan as Chiron, and even Uma Thurman plays a more than convinging Medusa in one of the stand-out scenes in the film.

While aimed at a younger audience for the most part I thoroughly enjoyed this film and the journey it takes you on. It's been compared to Harry Potter a number of times, and while I can see where the comparrison comes from I think Percy Jackson still stands on its own as a new series of films that audiences should love. Visually the film looks great and the fast-paced action scenes really show up nicely. A strong storyline supports the likeable characters and their adventure to the underworld.

Overall Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is a fantastic start to what I'm hoping will be a great series of films. Its certainly one that all ages can enjoy despite being aimed at a younger audience.

Scream 3 2000,  R)
Scream 3
Scream 3 is the final chapter in what was the trilogy before the fourth installment was announced 10 years later! It was a great way to finish, at the time, returning back to where it all started in Woodsbro, and leaves Sindey wondering how much she really knew about her Mother, and her Mother's killers. Gale and Dewey are also back to help Sidney as they watch the cast of Stab 3, the film based on the Woodsburo murders, begin to lose their lives.

Once again Neve, David and Courteney are all back for the third installment and have yet to fail to impress and continue to be three very likeable characters for the films. They are joined by a full new cast this time around with actors like Patrick Dempsey as Detective Kincaid, and a hilarious Parker Posey as the Stab 3 version of Gale Weathers. It was also rather refreshing seeing Jamie Kennedy back as Randy Meeks, despite his character biting the dust in the sequel.

This is my least favourite of the three Scream films, but having said that I still love it and it was a great way to end the trilogy (at the time anyway). The comedy element was definitley kicked up a notch which didn't exactly work in my opinion, but all the Horror and thrills from the first two are definitley still here. I loved going back to the events of the past films also as this meant it wasn't just a random sequel about new events and characters. The ending is also one of my favourite endings in a film, and in Scream 3's case a series of films.

Overall Scream 3 is a great way to end out what was a very impressive trilogy, but all that aside I'm now ready for Scream 4, and man do I hope it does the trilogy justice!
65
Yes Man 2008,  PG-13)
Yes Man
Yes Man is a hilarious comedy that sees Jim Carey go back to his classic comedy roots from the 90's that I fell in love with, unlike some of his more recent additions. Jim plays Carl, a negative and unsociable man who's life changes when he is introduced to the conecpt of saying yes to every opportunity given to him. During his new way of life he meets free-spirited Allison who changes his life, but is Carl ready for all these changes?

Who can fault a man like Jim Carrey and he remains to be one of the few actors that can really make me laugh with any film he tackles. I really liked his character despite being a negative character at first. While I don't particulary like her as an actress I quite liked Zooey Deschanel in this as Allison, perhaps because like Carl her character was also very likeable. However, despite Carl and Allison both being likeable character its Carl's boss Norman, played by Rhys Darby, who takes the cake. As annoying and weird as he was he really made me laugh and is probably one of my favourite characters in a film!

As well as being funny this film is also quite eye-opening and motivational for people to get out their and really live their lives, an aspect which I loved and have never really seen in a movie before. Being a comedy it certainly delivers the laughs, sometimes they go a little too far (Carl and his neighbour comes to mind) but were mostly spot-on, especially any scenes with Norman! The events played out well and while it ended up being somewhat predictable it still entertained me from start to finish.

Overall Yes Man is certainly a highlight for Jim Carrey with his extensive list of films and one I would reccomend to any fans of his for sure!
66
Alice in Wonderland 2010,  PG)
Alice in Wonderland
Alice In Wonderland was easily one of the best films of 2010, and it sees Tim Burton back in fine form with my favourite film of his! Its actually a sequel to the tale we all know about Alice falling down the rabbit hole as she is now a teenager heading back to Wonderland to face a battle between the Red and White Queen. With help from Hatter Alice must try and discover if she really is the right Alice they are looking for to fight the Jabberwocky!

I'll start with young Mia Wasikowska who plays Alice, and while she is an unknown actress in between a list of all-stars I think she was the stand-out for me and was a perfect choice for the role. Johnny Depp was as quirky as ever and also a good selection for Hatter, but probably wasn't the lead actor like people made him out to be. Helena Bonham Carter was another stand-out as the cooky and evil Red Queen and manages to outshine her sister White Queen, played by Anne Hathaway, and she was another perfect choice as she really seemed to suit the role.

I loved the fact this was a sequel as I was expecting to see the tale I already knew but got something totally different. Visually, this film is amazing, and it compares to films like Avatar where it can just take you away to another world simply by what you're watching. The characters were made likeable when necessary, or in Red Queen's case the total opposite, but she was a character I loved to hate. All the events play out well and round out to be a solid film with a satisfying ending also. I'm normally not that big of a Tim Burton fan, but this film alone has changed my mind on that!

Overall Alice In Wonderland is a visual treat and a film I would highly reccomend, especially to those fans of the original tale that would like to see something a little different, and Tim Burton fans of course!

Saved! 2003,  PG-13)
Saved!
Saved! is a rather controversial religious film but if you have the right attitude and can have a good laugh along with it then you will enjoy it. Christian student Mary falls pregnant to her gay boyfriend whilst attending a Christian high school and soon withdraws herself from her friends, except for those who care for who she really is. Meanwhile, rebel student Cassandra finds herself falling for disabled Roland, who finds himself falling back for her also.

Jena Malone is an actress I quite like and she always seems to play a rather likeable character, in this case the lead character Mary, but I think pop singer Mandy Moore shines that little bit more as the holy yet bitchy Hilary Faye; a role it seemed she was well suited for. Back in the spotlight was Home Alone's Macaulay Culkin, and he plays disabled student Roland well, but his love interst Cassandra's portrayer Eva Amurri certainly shone in her bold role and provided some of the memorable laughs. Lastly, Patrick, played by Patrick Fugit, was the dreamy boy Mary falls for and was more likeable than her gay boyfriend Dean.

Its hard to know who would get offended by this film and who would just enjoy it for what it is, but I certainly managed to enjoy it. Its a funny look at a religion like Christianity and characters like Hilary Faye that take it so seriously, and like the school they attended. I think the right blend of comedy made this enjoyable and the events playing out how they did, especially with complications like Dean's sexuality and Mary's pregnancy. Its also a rather unique film and I've yet to watch another one like it, and its different from your everyday teenage high school film.

Overall Saved! was an enjoyable film and like no other out there, so if you don't think the religious side of things would offend you its worth a look!

Scary Movie 2 2001,  R)
Scary Movie 2
Scary Movie 2 is a somewhat disappointing sequel to the 2000 hit comedy from the Wayans Brothers, however the laughs are still there even though the storyline and plot might not be. The main characters are back from the first including Cindy, Brenda, Ray & Shorty as they enter a haunted house to awaken the dead spirits that live there including Master Hugh Kane and his mistress. The group of teens must ban together to try and escape before its too late and they end up on death's list!

Anna Faris once again leads the cast and provides many of the limited laughs in this film. While the other teen characters portrayed by adults are quite funny its the adult characters and their portrayers that took the spotlight like Chris Elliott who plays the hilarious Hanson, the caretaker. Its also worth mentioning Regina Hall, who plays Brenda Meeks, was there to deliver her great one-liners what made her a character worth bringing back through all four films. I also quite liked Kathleen Robertson who plays Theo, a sexy character who we never saw before or after the sequel.

The sequel is easily the worst of the four Scary Movie films but thats not to say I don't enjoy watching it as there are some very funny jokes and scenes in it. Having said that there is almost no plot and the scenes are pretty much thrown together with gags and jokes. This film was heavily edited towards its release so that might be why, but still it's very obvious why its received so much criticism. I will give the film credit for going back to some Horror classics like The Exorcist but at the end of the day it could have been done so much better than it was.

Overall Scary Movie 2 isn't the best parody film out there but if you're in need of a good laugh or two and don't mind about having an absence of plot then this is probably the film for you!

The Last House on the Left 2009,  R)
The Last House on the Left
The Last House On The Left is the remake of a classic Horror film from the 70's from Wes Craven. Now Director Dennis Iliadis puts his own spin on it with rather dramatic results earning a restricted rating. The film follows two young girls kidnapped and tortured by a group of crinimals. Left for dead, one of the girls escapes back to her house where her parents intend to take revenge as the crinimals end up on their doorstep looking for a place to stay.

Garret Dillahunt plays the lead thug and he was a perfect choice for the role. Riki Lindhome & Aaron Paul are also quite convincing as Sadie & Francis; Krug's fellow thugs but its Spencer Treat Clark who I found the most convincing as the innocent Justin who seems to be born into a vicious family. Tony Goldwyn & Monica Potter play very convincing parents terrified at their daughters ordeal, and thats where young Sara Paxton comes in playing Mari, one of the kidnapped girls. Martha MacIsaac plays Paige, Mari's friend, and delivers some great chase scene moments for us and very convincingly too!

This is a very intense film to watch, in particular one rape scene that could make anyone cringe, however it was portrayed well. Its one of those films that has you always on the edge of your seat and there is always something going on so props for that. The action and fast-paced scenes are definiely the highlights, in particular the final moments, even the odd yet effective ending. I can't compare it to the original not having seen it but I will say that as a stand-alone film it ticks all the boxes in being an effective Horror/Thriller with plenty for the audience to enjoy.

Overall The Last House On The Left is a fast-paced action packed Thriller that won't be for the faint hearted, but if you think you can stomach it then you'll be in for one hell of a ride!

Napoleon Dynamite 2004,  PG)
Napoleon Dynamite
Napoleon Dynamite is an iconic film from 2004 that made characters like Napoleon and Pedro instant hits, but I personally couldn't enjoy this film like so many others have. Napoleon Dynamite is an awkard high school student living in his own world and playing by his own rules, like his older Brother Kip. After a new student, Pedro, starts at school he helps him run for class president. Meanwhile, his uncle Rico moves in with the family after their Grandmother falls ill and changes their lives, especially Kip's.

Jon Heder has always been one of my least favourite actors for a film I'd never even seen, but now that I have he doesn't seem to irritate me as much as I think he nailed the part. While I didn't like his character, I think he played it well. Aaron Ruell, however, was even more unlikeable as his even dorkier older Brother Kip. The only characters I found likeable were Deb, played by Tina Majorino, and even Pedro, played by Efren Ramirez, was quite funny despite not being able to say much.

While it was funny at times it really lacked consistency and felt like a bunch of scenes thrown together to make a film. I can see why its been such a popular film but I'm glad I waited to see it because it seems I wasn't missing out on much after all. The 'dance scene' that's become famous was quite good, but overall the film really failed to keep me interested and I was just waiting for it to finish. There was enough for me to like it but not enough for me to love it like so many others have.

Overall Napoleon Dynamite is funny at times but really lacks a constant flow of laughs and a solid storyline to pass as a classic comedy film in my eyes, though I can see why it was such a hit.

Honey 2003,  PG-13)
Honey
Honey is an enjoayble dance flick that follows the career of Honey Daniels, played by Jessica Alba, and the highs and lows of the dance industry. Honey makes it as a dancer in the latest music videos, and soon a choreographer, but it all comes with a price as her life soon changes as she must leave her dance studio and students behind, but she soon realizes what she really wants in life and how she can make a difference.

Jessica Alba is highly likeable as the title character Honey Daniels, and Alba was a perfect choice as she's smoking hot and has the right charisma for the role. Romeo, then 'Lil Romeo, plays Benny, who is the complete opposite of Honey as he is quite unlikeable, unlike his little Brother Raymond who is cute as a button. Mekhi Phifer plays Honey's boyfriend Chaz in another likeable role and less 'gangsta' than some of his other roles I've seen him play. Finally, Joy Bryant brings that little bit of comedy with her character Gina, Honey's jealous best friend.

While somewhat predictable and corny its easily one of my favourite dance films as its enjoyable and inspirational to anyone looking for a career in the dance industry. The characters are likeable and you want them to succeed, obviously Honey in particular. The film is also finished with a very uplifting song and dance scene that really puts the cherry on top of a very likeable film to watch. However if you're not interested in all things dance then this won't be the the film for you so you've been warned.

Overall Honey is an uplifting and inspirational dance film for anyone who loves a good dance flick and its hard not to smile while watching, especially for that finale! I'd highly reccomend this!

Jeepers Creepers 2001,  R)
Jeepers Creepers
Jeepers Creepers is a slick Horror film from 2001 from Director/Writer Victor Salva that introduces us to another Horror icon to add to the likes of Freddy, Jason & Michael Myers. 'The Creeper' chases down brother & sister Darry & Trish after they discover his lair with a room of bodies. On the run and with nowhere to go Darry and Trish must confront the Creeper to find out what he really wants before they to join his collection of dead bodies.

Justin Long & Gina Phillips play a very convincing brother & sister duo in Darry & Trish and its quite refreshing not to have a young couple in love with their best friends on a road trip. Jonathan Breck plays a very convincing Horror villain with a character that doesn't actually have a name so we only know him as 'The Creeper'. He has all the right facial expressions and charisma for the role. These three actors were the main stars and anyone else simply has smaller roles not really worthy of mentioning.

I originally liked the sequel more and didn't think too much of the first Jeepers Creepers film, but after watching it again I thoroughly enjoyed it for its simplicity and it was quite refreshing not having too many characters and a high body count/blood & gore, etc. The Creeper is a great Horror villain and his reveal is done at all the right times in the film. While there isn't a great deal of action in the film that doesn't matter as its made up for with good character development and a solid storyline.

Overall Jeepers Creepers is an exciting and thrilling Horror film that is sure to please fans of the genre, and if there is going to be a third installment coming soon I'm sure looking forward to seeing it!

My Super Ex-Girlfriend 2006,  PG-13)
My Super Ex-Girlfriend
My Super-Ex Girlfriend is a decent comedy flick from Director Ivan Reitman that pokes fun at the superhero genre with G-Girl, a female superhero who dates Matt as her alias Jenny Johnson. After a rocky relationship Matt decides to break up with her, making her furious and determiend to make Matt's life, and those close to him, miserable. In order to stop G-Girl; Matt turns to her nemesis Professor Bedlam to ensure that she is stopped.

Uma Thurman does a decent job playing a rather unlikeable character in G-Girl/Jenny Johnson. She is quite funny at times but its tough for her as the character just seems rather bitchy and jealous. Luke Wilson is likeable as Matt but in general he's a rather dull actor. Even Anna Faris, one of my all time favourite actors, seems wasted in a dull role (Matt's friend Hannah) when she is normally so likeable and hilarious. Matt's other friend Vaughn, played by Rainn Wilson, however takes the cake for least likeable character as he is the stereotypical 'player' best friend who you can't help but hate.

The idea is a little silly but if you focus on that the whole time you won't have fun when its meant to be a comedy. There's enough here to enjoy it and the actors do their best with their roles. The storyline has the right peaking moments here and there to flow well but I think perhaps a little more focus on G-Girl herself and a better villain for her might have made the film that little bit more exciting. At the end of the day there have been much better comedy films come out from these actors but its a likeable film that has enough laughs there to enjoy it.

Overall My Super Ex-Girlfriend is a decent comedy with some good laughs and while the idea was fresh and new its nothing groundbreaking and there are better comedies to get your hands on.

Jeepers Creepers 2 2003,  R)
Jeepers Creepers 2
Jeepers Creepers 2 is a very impressive sequel to the 2001 Horror hit and not only that but it's manages to live up to the expectations set from the first film as its just as good! Director and Writer Victor Salva is back once again as is 'The Creeper' stalking a bus of footballers and cheerleaders. Meanwhile, farmer Jack and his son are hunting down the Creeper after his other son is taken from him. Jack attempts to help the teenagers while taking out revenge on the monster that stole his son from him!

Jonathan Breck shines over any of the other cast members as The Creeper, and once again proves he was a great choice for the part. Ray Wise is decent as Jack Taggart Sr., but might be a tad too serious of a character in a film with a number of teenagers. From the teenagers a few stand-out over the others including Eric Nenninger as the irritating Scotty, and Nicki Aycox plays a rather likeable character in Minxie, who has a run-in with Darry (Justin Long) from the first film. Finally, Diane Delano shines in a small yet satisfying role as a rather tough bus driver Betty.

Unlike the first film which was short on characters this film has a bus load of high school students, plus Farmers Jack and his son. The idea of having a broken down school bus was original and worked very well as the somewhat disfunctional teenagers work together to stay alive. The Creeper is creepy as ever, and we certainly get a better look at him this time around too as well as learning a little more about his past. A good combination of likeable characters and a solid storyline kept this film flowing well, and had a nice little ending that kept us hopeful for a third installment, which is apparently coming out in 2013.

Overall Jeepers Creepers 2 is a a satisfying sequel that should please fans of the first as it did for me. The Creeper will also certainly be up there with those iconic Horror killers!

Resident Evil: Afterlife 2010,  R)
Resident Evil: Afterlife
Another impressive addition to the Resident Evil series and one hell of a film to watch in 3D also! I think the first film is a tad better but the fourth is better than the second and third installments. Alice is back along with Claire, but joined by a new group of characters this time. Plenty of Action and Horror to keep the fans pleased, plus visually this film looks amazing with special effects a notch above the previous films. Overall a delight to watch and a firm favourite of mine!
76
A Nightmare on Elm Street 1984,  R)
A Nightmare on Elm Street
One of the most iconic films of the 80's, and a classic Horror film thanks to Freddy Krueger! He is my favourite Horror character and a perfect villain for the series, and this is where it all began! A little corny yes but for the 80's this was groundbreaking stuff and I like that it still manages to have a great effect today. The actors and characters were also great, plus it was amusing seeing a much younger Johnny Depp. Overall a classic Horror film and one that all Horror fans should see!
77
The Uninvited 2009,  PG-13)
The Uninvited
What a Thriller and what a twist! This film has it all with a very intriguing storyline that follows Anna's return home after a stay in a mental hospital, and the events that follow. Its a very spooky film with some heart-racing moments for the first time you watch it, but its the clever storyline and such a shocking twist at the end that really make this film what it is. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it and anyone who loves a good twist at the end will be more than happy with this film!
78
Cry Wolf 2005,  PG-13)
Cry Wolf
One heck of a Thriller that might be low on the blood & gore when it comes to a Horror film but high on a clever storyline with a twist no one will see coming! Julian Morris and Lindy Booth lead the cast with Jon Bon Jovi as a sinister Teacher in a game of suspicion. It takes a while to get going but once it does you're lead into a game where anyone could be the next victim. At the end of the day its the twist that this film will be remembered for, and that's not a bad thing because it's great!
79
Scary Movie 2000,  R)
Scary Movie
Definitley the highlight of the Scary Movie series and where it all began as well! Its easily the best work from the Wayans Brothers too as they poke fun at 90's Horror films like Scream with hilarious results. Not only the clever storyline but the cast really made this film work with funny actors like Anna Faris and Regina Hall, both who featured in all four films. The majority of the jokes hit the right spots resulting in a hilarious and one of the best parody films out there!
80
The Breed 2006,  R)
The Breed
One of the best low-budget and unknown Horror films out there thanks to being very realistic! No need for tacky CGI here as the dogs and all the action is very real. The characters were also smart unlike most dumb teenagers in Horror films these days. The idea was very original and fresh, and anyone who doesn't like dogs would probably be in hell watching this! Overall a very impressive Horror I would definitley reccomend if you're ready to see a new take on the genre with great results!
81
The Grudge 2004,  PG-13)
The Grudge
While I can't compare it to the original (because I've never seen it) I've always been more than impressed with this American remake of the popular Japanese Horror. Sarah Michelle Gellar is perfect as Karen, the woman haunted by Kayako. I also love the sup-plots and how every minor character has their own sequence, and while the film is out of order I think that worked perfectly! It also remains to be very creepy no matter how many times you see it, and any Horror fans should enjoy it!
82
The Forsaken 2001,  R)
The Forsaken
One of the better vampire films out there, and while its not the best there's enough here to keep you entertained. The characters are likeable, even the villains, and while there is no real action right 'til the end its a solid storyline that peaks at the right moments. Both Kit & Cym are great vampires and provide some good entertainment, and Brendan Fehr is very likeable as knowledgeable Nick. Overall Horror fans will get their kicks out of it and enjoy it for what's it worth.
83
Urban Legends: Bloody Mary 2005,  R)
Urban Legends: Bloody Mary
Nothing compared to the first two Urban Legends films but its pretty much what you'd expect from a straight to DVD Horror film. All the Urban Legends are there but they weren't portrayed very well, plus it helps when you have decent actors in a film. The death scenes were more amusing than scary, but all that aside it was still an entertaining film that held my interest despite being corny/dodgy side. Fans of the first two Urban Legends films might like it, but its certainly isn't as good.
84
Black Sheep 2006,  R)
Black Sheep
While there are better Horror-Comedies out there this one is certainly up there with some of my favourites thanks to a creative idea of sheep gone baad ;) It hits all the right spots and is generally very funny if you don't mind not taking it seriously as Henry and hippie Experience attempt to stop a herd of infected sheep. There's enough comedy there and even some impressive sheep-scares to keep everyone entertained, and any New Zealanders will be sure to check this one out!
85
Paranormal Activity 2 2010,  R)
Paranormal Activity 2
Being a big fan of the first film I was expecting to be blown away with the sequel but I was disappointed to find that wasn't going to be the case. It had so many similarities but the novelty has now warn off and the same scares and idea don't work second time 'round. I like the realism of it all and having security cameras was a great idea, but other than that this really doesn't compare to what worked for the original film. Overall its worth a look but prepare to be slightly disappointed.
86
Devil 2010,  PG-13)
Devil
I had high expectations for this film and thankfully it lived up to them because it was great! Everything worked perfectly and creating that claustrophobic mood with five people trapped in an elevator. It takes a while to really kick into gear but once it does the action and twists never stop. Its also a great film to watch with a group of people because you get to play 'whodunnit' the whole time. Overall well worth the watch and Horror/Thriller fans will certainly get their kicks out of it!
87
Gone 2006,  R)
Gone
A crafty little Thriller that makes you think twice about trusting people you don't really know. It's not the best to come out of Australia but I still certainly enjoyed it and can see people really liking this movie. It is slow paced and, as always, the best moments come from the final few scenes, but it has a good lead up with both likeable and interesting characters in it. The three leads all work well together and Scott Mechlowicz plays a very convincing, likeable yet creepy villain!
88
The Secret Life of Bees 2008,  PG-13)
The Secret Life of Bees
A solid effort here that appears to stay true to the novel. Dakota Fanning leads the cast, most of which is African-American, and does a great job with her role. Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys & Sophie Okonedo are all fantastic as sisters who take in young Lily and her carer Rosaleen, played by Jennifer Hudson. It can be quite confronting with some scenes but there are also some lovely scenes, particulary with Dakota Fanning and Queen Latifah. Overall a nice film and certainly worth a look.
89
The Number 23 2007,  R)
The Number 23
One of those films that will certainly be remembered for the twist, which made me want to see it again because I remember being blown away the first time I watched it. However, second time 'round I didn't find it as exciting and thrilling because I already knew what was going to happen. Jim Carey is still brilliant, though I do prefer his comedy films. Its a great idea for a film and watching Walter descend into madness is quite interesting, but overall its probably a film to see only once.
90
Fear 1996,  R)
Fear
While the idea's been done before and we all know how the story ends it was still quite enjoyable and thanks to some great acting performances it was better than it should have been. Mark Wahlberg is spot-on as the perfect boyfriend turned creepy psycho, and Reese Witherspoon was also a great choice to play his victim. Its fairly low on action but the final scene is where it all heats up for one hell of a finale. Overall its what to expect from a 90's Thriller but still enough here to enjoy!
91
Scary Movie 4 2006,  PG-13)
Scary Movie 4
The fourth installment in the series is thankfully just as good as the third and fourth with a very clever storyline that weaves War of the Worlds, The Grudge, The Village and many more films together! Both Cindy and Brenda are also back once again along with the President too! The jokes are great with more hits than misses, though one or two do fail to hit the mark. Fans of the first three films certainly won't be disappointed here and here's hoping that a fifth film will come soon!
92
The Grudge 2 2006,  PG-13)
The Grudge 2
An impresive sequel and while the first was a little better I still really enjoyed this one thanks to having similar elements, like the seperate storylines for example. We finally get to find out what happens to Karen, and now her sister Aubrey (Amber Tamblyn) is in the hot seat along with a family in Chicago. There's enough spooks and chills for the Horror fans, and while low on blood & gore its still satisfying thanks to that creepy duo of Kayako & Toshio. All up a decent sequel worth a look!
93
Thor 2011,  PG-13)
Thor
An impressive blockbuster that is Action-packed with some great action scenes, as well as having likable characters and some great performances from the lead actors. It was great seeing an Aussie like Chris taking the reigns with the lead role, and he does a great job. I also really liked Natalie Portman in this as Jane. I've seen my fair share of Marvel/DC films and this would have to be one of the best, and I can't wait to see The Avengers and see what's in store for Thor next!
94
Quarantine 2008,  R)
Quarantine
One of my all-time favourite Horror films thanks to being so 'in your face' and realistic with the 'shaky-cam' technique that can sometimes work and sometimes fall flat but it certainly worked here. Angelas and her cameraman Scott enter an appartment that is soon under quarantine as the people living there get sick. It's very fast-paced but this is when it works the best as you feel you are there in the moment with the characters. Overall a highly enjoyable film and I would reccomend it!
95
Snakes on a Plane 2006,  R)
Snakes on a Plane
Its the film that has it all when it comes to genres, and while you can't help but find the whole concept a little silly its certainly entertaining! Samuel L. Jackson leads the cast as a plane comes under attack by vicious snakes attacking everyone in sight. There's enough action and horror to impress viewers along with the right amount of comedy also (although they go too far at times). Overall its a film made for pure entertainment and it certainly delivers in that department!
96
The Last Exorcism 2010,  PG-13)
The Last Exorcism
Interesting film that started off fairly slow, started to get really good, but ended up with a sloppy finish. I didn't realize it was going to be one of those 'shaky-cam' films which can sometimes work well but other times fall flat, and it seemed to work well most of the time here. Horror wise there are a few decent scenes but not enough to really keep fans of the genre pleased. There are quite a few exorcism films around and while this one was good, its not up there with the best.
97
Machete 2010,  R)
Machete
If you like Rodriguez's style then you'll love this film, but if you don't then you might find yourself watching something you'll hate. Luckily I love Rodriguez's films and I loved this one! Plenty of action and cast full of stars, all who portray their characters perfectly. Danny Trejo was great as Machete and I must say Jessica Alba did a fine job as his leading lady Sartana, as did Michelle Rodriguez. It's definitley one for the guys but that's not to say the girls won't enjoy it too.
98
Frozen 2010,  R)
Frozen
Easily one of the best original concept's I've seen in a long time and while I always knew it was going to be a fairly slow moving film I still really enjoyed it! Parker, Joe & Dan were all likeable characters you wanted to see live and the three actors were good choices. The film peaked at all the right moments, and while I think the ending could have been better it played out well enough. Overall well worth a look and will certainly make you think twice when it comes to chair lifts ;)
99
Dead Silence 2006,  R)
Dead Silence
A reasonably good Horror that had it's ups and downs with some good scares here and there, and who wouldn't be freaked out by those creepy dolls! I think the general idea was good but it just got a little dull in parts and there were moments where there wasn't enough happening to keep me interested. Acting was decent, and Aussie Ryan Kwanten did a respectable job, but nobody else really shined. There was also a very impressive twist at the end but it didn't make up for the film being average.
100
Skinwalkers 2007,  PG-13)
Skinwalkers
A decent werewolf Horror flick that I hardly remembered watching back in 2007 and was quite surprised to find myself really enjoying it second time 'round. Its simplistic plot follows a group of werewolves trying to keep half-breed Timothy alive long enough to stop their curse, while being chased by another group of werewolves. It has enough Horror to keep fans of the genre pleased plus its one of the better werewolf films I've seen, so if you're a fan of those then you'll like this one.
101
The Crazies 2010,  R)
The Crazies
A solid effort for an action-packed Horror that I thoroughly enjoyed! Timothy Olyphant is a sheriff of a small town who become infected after their water supply is poisioned. The town is taken over by the military so he and a few others try their best to escape. When it really gets going there's no stopping it with some memorable scenes and enough action and horror to keep everyone happy. 'The Crazies' are also very creepy people you wouldn't want to run into! I would certainly reccomend it!
102
The Unborn 2009,  PG-13)
The Unborn
Impressive on first watch but somewhat disappointing second time 'round, and while it still has the goods a Horror film needs it was missing a solid plot and the 'cheap thrills' got old very quickly. Odette is obviously gorgeous, but nobody was a real stand-out. It has its moments that I enjoyed but as a whole I just remember it being a lot better so was disappointed to find a corny and almost silly Horror film I didnt remember watching the first time. Still good, just not as good as I remember.
103
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
One of the best live-action films that Disney has had to offer, and it's the best of the series also as this is where it all began (and when it was a little more simplistic than the sequels). The storyline & action is great but its the characters like Jack Sparrow that really make this film, and the actors like Johnny Depp that play the parts perfectly. It's a great film for all ages and one that is sure to be a classic for years to come, and if you haven't seen it yet you're missing out!
104
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
A slight improvement on the first film as there is much more action as well as the introduction of some great new characters like Tia Dalma and Davy Jones. Jack Sparrow (Depp) still steals the show but both Will and Elizabeth have stepped it up this time with more involvement. The storyline has plenty involved with it and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but perhaps a little darker than the first (which isn't a bad thing). Overall a solid sequel which was left open ready for the third film too!
105
Under Siege 1992,  R)
Under Siege
A decent Action flick from the early 90's that had enough to keep me slightly interested, but not enough for me to really enjoy watching it. Steven Segal always impresses in his roles, but it was villains Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey who I felt really shined as they were both spot on, especially Jones. A little slow at first but it had enough action to keep the guys happy, but being an older film and not having the greatest advantages films these days have at the end of the day it was just OK.
106
Under Siege 2: Dark Territory 1995,  R)
Under Siege 2: Dark Territory
A little better than the first and while I prefered the villains from the first there is more action and likeable characters in this one, plus you can't help but poke fun at some of the one-liners and cliche moments all good 90's action films have. Steven Segal is, once again, in his prime here and delivers in this impressive sequel to the 1992 film. Plenty of great action scenes and amusing fights to entertain audiences, and I did enjoy watching it more than the first as it kept me interested.
107
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End 2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
Not as good as the first two Pirate films but still a respectable sequel with plenty of eye-catching scenes and enough comedy & action to please anyone. It's a bit too long (169 minutes to be exact) so some scenes could be cut (Jack's time in Davy Jones' Locker perhaps) and the politics of it all got in the way of all the comedy & adventure that made the first two so successful and enjoyable. Having said all that its still a great sequel and it's no wonder its been a successful series!
108
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2009,  PG)
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
Surprisingly I thoroughly enjoyed this film despite it being heavily aimed at a younger audience. I can see kids easily enjoying this but I enjoyed it too as it was a clever storyline with likeable characters and plenty of exciting scenes. All the actors were well suited to their characters, and lead characters Flint and Sam were great. The idea was also original and something new and fresh never done before. Overall its a great film and easily one of the best kids films released recently.
109
I Love You Beth Cooper 2009,  PG-13)
I Love You Beth Cooper
What you'd expect from your typical high school comedy, but unlike some of the dodgy ones out there this one is actually pretty good. Hayden Panettiere leads a cast of unknowns as popular girl Beth who nerdy Denis has fallen in love with. Its a funny storyline and watching the journey Denis and his best friend Rich takes with Beth and her two friends is enjoyable. Some scenes go a little overboard but overall its still a rather enjoyable comedy any young adult is sure to enjoy.
110
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 2011,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
It was nice to have a shorter & less confusing installment after the third Pirates film, but the first & second were still better. Depp is back but apart from Rush the others haven't returned, but thankfully Jack Sparrow is still around because its obvious he makes this series work. There is enough Action & Comedy to keep you entertained as well as a new villain in Blackbeard and a new blossoming romance with Philip & Syrena. Overall a great addition to the series well worth a look :)
111
Hannah Montana: The Movie 2009,  G)
Hannah Montana: The Movie
Fans of the show will probably love it but others will struggle to enjoy it because of its poor slapstick comedy and poor storyline. Miley is likeable and there's no wonder why the show has been popular, but the film could have been great and it fell flat. It's not all bad as it is watchable but I felt my IQ dropping because there's no doubt its aimed at young girls, but being somewhat of a Miley Cyrus fan I had to see it, and now that I have I can't see me wanting to watch it again ;)
112
She 1965,  Unrated)
She
My first Hammer Horror experience and it won't be the last as I'm now rather intrigued by them. It obviously doesn't size-up to films from today but it held my interest thanks to some interesting characters and a good storyline revolving around Ayesha, or known as She, a woman keen on finding her lost lover. It reminded me of 'The Mummy' in a way and while acting and special effects might look a little dodgy now I would think they were good for the 60's, so for what it's worth I'm impressed.
113
Things We Lost in the Fire 2007,  R)
Things We Lost in the Fire
While not the most exciting of films it certainly portrays the acting talents of both Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro as well as having a solid storyline of how the death of a man called Brian has affected his wife Audrey and his best friend Jerry. Its interesting watching Audrey and Jerry come together, who didn't originally get along anyway. It also touches upon serious issues like drugs and the harm they can cause. Overall a decent film, not outstanding by any means, but worth a look.
114
The Nanny 1965,  Unrated)
The Nanny
Started out rather well and I was very intrigued by the characters and the mysterious behavior between the Nanny and Joey, but towards the end it got very messy and ended up disappointing me because it could have really been great! Bette Davis did a fine job as the Nanny and was the obvious stand-out, but young William Dix also did a great job as Joey. It certainly held my attention and I expected to really finish with a bang, but what a letdown for a film with such a promising start.
115
Toy Story 3 2010,  G)
Toy Story 3
Not only will Toy Story fans love the third installment but it will be winning a new age of fans too. There is so much to like about this film and because I grew up with the first two films I really couldn't wait to see it. Much more heartfelt and emotional this time 'round and its great to see everyone back along with the addition of a few new characters. Overall a brilliant film just as good as the first two, and easily one of the best animated films out there, if not the best!
116
Enchanted 2007,  PG)
Enchanted
An enjoyable Disney flick that is as corny as they come but in a good way as it pokes fun at your traditional Disney fantasies as they combine with the reality of life in New York city. Amy Adams is a delight to watch as Giselle, a princess caught up in a different world looking for her true love Edward. The cast are all great and the songs are also quite enjoyable, and the storyline flows well with enough excitement to keep you interested. Overall another impressive film from Disney!
117
The Butterfly Effect 2004,  R)
The Butterfly Effect
A movie sure to mess with your mind that is based on two powerful words: 'What If'. Its a great film, and Ashton Kutcher in his prime as his character Evan tries to remember memories of his past he once blacked out in. Some scenes are rather graphic but its the amount of things Evan can change that really make you think twice about the little thigns we do everyday. Overall a solid Thriller and one I would reccomend, and I'm looking forward to rewatching the sequel and finally seeing the third!
118
The Hangover 2009,  R)
The Hangover
This is a great film full of laughs thanks to likable characters and the actors portraying them, plus it's a great concept. I've been to Vegas so I know all too well what it's like, but my nights were nothing compared to this one! Zach Galifianakis is the star among the talented cast, and his character Alan is just hilarious :) It's a great film to watch with your mates too because we all get up to some crazy stuff when with your best friends, so overall a great film, perfect for Vegas buff's!
119
The Butterfly Effect 2 2006,  R)
The Butterfly Effect 2
Compared to the 2003 original it doesn't even come close but for a sequel it's not half bad as the general idea hasn't changed and those two words 'What If' are certainly still relevant here. Eric Lively is no Ashton Kutcher but is OK as Nick who takes control of the mistakes in his life. The characters weren't likeable enough for you to really care what happened to them, and there were no real major events worth changing unlike in Evan's life from the original. An OK sequel but nothing special.
120
Sanctum 2011,  R)
Sanctum
A decent Thriller that mostly takes place underground and underwater where a group of divers & explorers are trying to escape a maze of tunnels. It's fairly intense and you do want to see most of these characters make it out alive and reach the surface! Rhys Wakefield is quite likeable as Josh, but his Father, Frank (Richard Roxburgh) is a bit too blunt for my likings. Overall an impressive film, not James Cameron's best of course but still certainly worth checking out if you're a fan of his.
121
Black Swan 2010,  R)
Black Swan
A film with some solid acting performances, especially from Natalie Portman, who plays Nina, a ballet dancer who becomes obsessed with her leading role. It's an interesting look into the dance world and the lengths some dancers will go to for perfection. I also rather enjoyed Mila Kunis' performance as Lily, who Nina believes is trying to steal her role. It got a little muddled towards the end however delivered a solid ending so overall well worth a look and I did enjoy it :)
122
The Hangover Part II 2011,  R)
The Hangover Part II
The sequel is just as good as the original in my opinion despite what the critics have said. I think they took the best aspects from the first and merged them with the new location and ideas giving us one hell of a wild ride! It's great to have Phil, Stu & Alan all back, with Alan becoming somewhat more of a lead character now. There are plenty of funny moments and even some great Action thrown in there too, making it a very enjoyable film to watch with hilarious outcomes! Well worth a look :)
123
Princess Protection Program 2009,  G)
Princess Protection Program
While there are better Disney films around there is enough here to make it a likeable film for young girls, but perhaps not the most enjoyable of films for a guy like me. Both Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are strong leads and work well together, but the film's biggest problem came down to all things cliche in both storyline and characters. It wasn't bad, but nowhere near as good as some of the live action Disney films that come out so unless your a fan of Selena and Demi, perhaps give it a miss.
124
The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations 2009,  R)
The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations
Not as good as the first but better than the second which surprised me seeing as the cast are all unknowns but it had a strong start that managed to hold up right 'til the shocking ending. Sam, played by Chris Carmack, was a likeable lead similar to Evan in some ways, and the fact he used 'jumping' as they call it in this film to his advantage was pretty cool. Overall an interesting film that fans of the first that were disappointed with the sequel will probably enjoy like I did :)
125
Dracula - Prince of Darkness 1966,  Unrated)
Dracula - Prince of Darkness
A rather odd Horror that never really had me interested the whole time despite having a few cool moments here and there, but so far its my least favourite from the Hammer Horror collection I'm watching. Christopher Lee, who plays Dracula, is silent in the film which is an odd choice. A little dull and silly here and there so I didn't exactly enjoy watching it, but it had its moments with a fairly good ending so fans of old school Horror will probably get their kicks out of it.
126
The Plague of the Zombies 2012,  Unrated)
The Plague of the Zombies
One of the more enjoyable and light-hearted Hammer Horror films I've watched so far with some likeable characters, especially Sylvia, and a decent storyline following Sir James Forbes and his daughter trying to work out what is happening to a small town and their sudden deaths. The zombies are hardly scary, but being the 60's I'll let it slide, but overall there's enough to keep you amused and interested, but compared to the great zombie films of today it doesn't come anywhere close.
127
Obsessed 2009,  PG-13)
Obsessed
While Idris Elba takes the lead role in this film the real stars are the ladies with both Beyonce & Ali Larter really shining in their roles as two women, the wife and a fellow employee, fighting for the affection of one man. It's an intense Thriller that really picks up towards the end with one hell of a catfight that is both enjoyable and quite frightening to watch. A solid storyline too that had similarities to the 'Fatal Attraction' type films out there, but certainly stood on it's own.
128
Miss Congeniality 2000,  PG-13)
Miss Congeniality
An enjoyable comedy and while its an obvious chick-flick its still worth watching if you're a guy because the main focus is at a Beauty Pageant with dozens of gorgeous women. Sandra Bullock is a shining star, as always, playing an FBI agent who goes undercover as a contestant in the pageant. There are plenty of laughs, mostly from Gracie herself, as well as her stylist Victor, played by Michael Caine. It was better than the sequel that followed and one you're sure to enjoy and have a good laugh!

Miss Congeniality 2 - Armed and Fabulous 2005,  PG-13)
Miss Congeniality 2 - Armed and Fabulous
While it doesn't live up to the first it's still a decent comedy that will keep fans of the first film happy with a few returning characters, along with some new ones like bad-ass Sam Fuller, played by Regina King. Sandra Bullock is, as always, in fine form providing us with most of the laughs in the film. It has its flaws in the storyline but some creative scenes and likeable characters can make up for that and still give us a great film worth watching if you're in need of a good chuckle!

Sky High 2005,  PG)
Sky High
A more than impressive Disney flick with such a creative concept, storyline and characters. Sky High is just a breath of fresh air compared to most kids/teen films coming out these days. Lead by an all-star and strong cast Sky High is perfect for kids, teens and even adults and appeals to all ages. The creative superhero powers are also very clever. Overall a very impressive Disney film I'd highly reccomend anyone to check out :)

Rasputin, the Mad Monk 1966,  Unrated)
Rasputin, the Mad Monk
The first Hammer Horror film I really did not enjoy. It didn't interest me from the start and even with a rather entertaining ending the rest of the film was incredibly dull and Rasputin was a very unlikeable character I really didn't enjoy watching. Acting was decent, and Christopher Lee was totally unrecognisable at first, but its the storyline and characters that really let this film down, and I have a feeling it will probably be my least favourite from the Hammer Horror films I'm watching.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
There isn't another film like it that mixes a musical with so much Horror and gives you a result like this fantastic film! One of Burton's finest films here with both Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter standing out as true stars, along with young Ed Sanders. The storyline is great and some of the songs are fantastic (along with a dud or two unforntuatley). Overall a thoroughly enjoyable film for all the Musical and Horror fans out there, and the perfect match if you love both like I do!
133
Babylon A.D. 2008,  PG-13)
Babylon A.D.
Quite a decent Action/Sci-Fi lead by Vin Diesel as he tries to help Aurora and Sister Rebeka to America. It started off better than it finished but had plenty of great action and memorable scenes in between. Vin Diesel was obviously in his element as was Michelle Yeoh busting out some of her kung-fu. I also enjoyed Mélanie Thierry as Aurora and she fit the part well. I think it got a little messy towards the end but still had a strong start and middle so overall I did enjoy watching it :)
134
House of the Dead 2003,  R)
House of the Dead
This is a very bad film, however its quite enjoyable to watch so I don't hate it as much as I probably should. Uwe Boll is a rather hated director, and this film received many negative reviews for a good reason. The editing is very poor, storyline is messy, characters are stereotypical and the random flashes of the video game make no sense. However, put all that aside and there's actually a pretty funny film that I enjoyed watching so it's not all bad, but certainly not all good either.
135
Carriers 2009,  PG-13)
Carriers
Decent apocalyptic film that obviously didn't have a big budget or a wide release but I still enjoyed watching it. The four friends seem quite close but when it comes down to surviving they are willing to do what it takes. I found Brian to be rather unlikeable but it worked well for his character, unlike his very likeable brother Danny. Nothing majorly exciting happens like in most films similar to this so there are better apocalypse films out there, however its still worth a look as its good :)
136
Venom 2005,  R)
Venom
While there are many good things about this 90's style Horror film it falls short here and there with a very short running time and I think they killed off characters too quickly leaving us with a rather dull final few scenes. The good, however, is very good with a great killer that is actually scary and likeable characters, as well as those you enjoy to loathe. Its nothing groundbreaking for the genre but Horror fans should appreciate it for what it is and the entertainment value it delivers :)
137
Misery 1990,  R)
Misery
Featuring two stand-out performances from James Caan, and especially Kathy Bates as the insane or perhaps just misunderstood Annie Wilkes. This film is brilliant and it's an almost painful journey to watch poor Paul Sheldon held hostage as Annie nurses him back to health, despite never intending on letting him leave. It peaks at all the right moments and has a dramatic finale that had me on the edge of my seat! I would definitley reccomend watching this and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it!
138
Infestation 2008,  R)
Infestation
An amusing and fun Horror/Comedy and pretty much what you'd expect for a straight to DVD release so as long as you don't have your hopes up for something amazing you'll enjoy it. Characters were likeable enough and the storyline was good, but compared to films similar to it like Eight Legged Freaks it falls short because its nothing new and a little dull in parts. Both Chris Marquette and Brooke Nevin were good as the leads, as was Ray Wise as Cooper's Dad. Overall give it a go for some fun :)
139
The Midnight Meat Train 2008,  R)
The Midnight Meat Train
So I started off not really enjoying this or really caring what was going to end up happening but somewhere towards the end it really grabs you and has such an unexpected and intriguing ending that almost changed my opinion on the whole movie. Cast was great and while it wasn't exactly enjoyable to watch I was certainly intrigued, especially towards the end, because it plays out differently. Vinnie Jones was spot on as Mahogany, and despite not being able to talk he was certainly scary enough!
140
The Others 2001,  PG-13)
The Others
A very creepy film that will probably be remembered for the ending/twist more than anything, but what an ending/twist it was! Nicole Kidman is great as a protective Mother who soon discovers she isn't along in her house. While fairly slow and only shot in the one setting, being the house, it has enough of a spooky atmosphere to keep you interested and when the final few scenes play you're literally on the edge of your seat. A film I would highly reccomend, especially to Thriller fans!
141
Journey to the Center of the Earth 2008,  PG)
Journey to the Center of the Earth
This was a very enjoyable and entertaining family adventure and I think having a likable lead character like Trevor, played by Brendan Fraser, really helped. It's perfect for all ages as there is something for everyone, and while younger kids might get a little scared it's still a great family film. Josh Hutcherson & Anita Briem were great also and I think the three main actors all worked very well together. Overall a great film well worth a look and I look forward to seeing the sequel!
142
The Eye 2008,  PG-13)
The Eye
This is a good Thriller with a decent storyline, plus I do love Jessica Alba, but there are definitley one too many 'cheap thrills' that irritated me. It got better towards the end after a fairly slow start but watching Sydney descend into madness after seeing visions was quite interesting to watch. The final scene is pretty cool visually but overall it wasn't amazing, but certainly well worth a look, and compared to the other American remakes of Asian Horror films it falls a little short.
143
X-Men: First Class 2011,  PG-13)
X-Men: First Class
Easily the best the X-Men series has had to offer so far thanks to an outstanding cast first of all, plus finding out more about our favourite characters, and getting to know new ones. The action is fantastic with some great scenes using some amazing CGI, but I think its the performances that stand-out more with James McAvoy as Charles really shining as well as Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. Overall a brilliant film that is sure to please any X-Men fan out there, and I can't wait for Wolverine!
144
King's Ransom 2005,  PG-13)
King's Ransom
A good comedy flick with plenty of laughs thanks to the cast lead by Anthony Anderson as Malcolm King, a rich yet arrogant business man who more than one group of people plan to kidnap. Its actually a very clever storyline that has a few nice twists to it and its held together well with likeable characters and solid acting performances, especially from Anthony and Jay Mohr. The jokes don't always hit the mark but overall an enjoyable comedy that kept me interested and I enjoyed watching it :)
145
Skyline 2010,  PG-13)
Skyline
So this wasn't exactly a bad film, but I was expecting a lot more considering the trailer was so cool, but now I understand why the critics didn't like it. It is a decent action film but the unlikeable characters and poor storyline made it dull to watch. Even the aliens themselves were quite cool but the film just wasn't that enjoyable to watch, and films like War of the Worlds simply did it better. Overall worth a look but not if you're looking for something great, but still a good film.
146
Commando 1985,  R)
Commando
Extremley corny but in a way that works thanks to the one and only Arnie! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film and no matter how bad some scenarios or lines may have seemed they are delivered in a way that makes you push it aside and still enjoy the movie. Rae Dawn Chong is also great as the leading lady Cindy and I enjoyed her performance. The final scenes were a little sloppy and over the top but it had a decent finish and overall was an enjoayble 80's Action I would reccomend!
147
Catwoman 2004,  PG-13)
Catwoman
Despite receiving negative feedback from most critics I still thoroughly enjoy this film, and while its easy to spot its flaws I think the likeable characters, storyline and action make up for it. Halle Berry is great as Patience/Catwoman and I think a lot of other actresses would have struggled with the role. The whole cat element brought in was a tad on the silly side, but still works well. Sharon Stone also plays an impressive villain ;) Overall won't be one for everyone but I still love it!
148
Waterworld 1995,  PG-13)
Waterworld
Despite its criticism I've loved this film since I was a kid and my opinion's never changed. An iconic film from the 90's with Kevin Costner as the star, and Dennis Hopper as a memorable villain for me from my childhood. I always love films in a post-apocalyptic world and this one does it perfectly, and all on water too ;) Plenty of great action scenes as well as an interesting relationship formed between the Mariner and woman and child he rescues. Overall a firm favourite of mine from the 90's.
149
El Orfanato (The Orphanage) 2007,  R)
El Orfanato (The Orphanage)
This is one of the few foreign films I can watch, because lets face it very difficult to read subtitles and watch a movie at the same time :/ Having said that it's totally worth it for this outstanding film, which isn't strictly a Horror but a story of love and loss also. Belén Rueda is great as Laura, a distraught Mother who has lost her only son and will do anything to find him again. The finale is great and the twist is both brilliant and shocking at the same time, plus the ending is lovely!
150
The Road 2009,  R)
The Road
This was an interesting, yet somewhat dull film that shows what life could be like in a post-apocalyptic world. Both Viggo Mortensen & Kodi Smit-McPhee are great as a Father & Son duo doing what it takes to survive in the world. There are no 'action' scenes or anything like I was kind of expecting, but scenes of survival as they live in a world where the remaining humans have turned to cannibalism :/ Overall a decent film and worth a look, but I have seen better apocalypse films out there.
151
1408 2007,  PG-13)
1408
This film had such a strong start and I was so intrigued, drawn in by the storyline and both Mike's and Mr. Olin's characters, played very well by John Cusack & Samuel L. Jackson. Unforntuatley it all stops there as the film goes downhill quite rapidly, which really disappointed me because I thought I was going to love it. Too many hallucinations and you never knew what was real or just in Mike's mind, so overall a very messy film that I certainly would not reccomend, but still a strong start.
152
Dragonball Evolution 2009,  PG)
Dragonball Evolution
As corny as they come but if you like the genre, and even though I never watched the show I grew up with Pokémon so I knew what to expect, you'll enjoy it :) Plenty of action and fight scenes to keep kids and teens amused, and while the plot is pretty basic there's enough for older audiences to enjoy. Fans of the cartoon will also be in their element as it features most of the main characters. Overall sure it's nothing spectacular, but definitely entertaining and I enjoyed watching it.
153
Fragments 2008,  R)
Fragments
An interesting story of the lives of a group of survivors from a shooting in a coffee shop, and how each of them changed after the incident. It has a list of starts from Forest Whitaker to Dakota Fanning and they all play their roles very well. I particularly found myself more interested in Carla and her baby troubles more-so than the main character, Anne, and her sudden resort to God and Christianity. Not an overly exciting film but still intriguing to watch and I would recommend it.
154
Youth in Revolt 2010,  R)
Youth in Revolt
Rather enjoyable film that follows Nick Twisp, an awkard teen who falls in love with free-spirited Sheeni and he wants to do anything to impress her. Its a little on the odd side but that's what made it really work and I enjoyed Michael Cera as both Nick and his alter ego Francois. Newcomer Portia Doubleday was also rather likeable as Sheeni, and there was always enough happening to keep you interested, as well as some very funny moments. Overall worth a look and I enjoyed it :)
155
The Incredibles 2004,  PG)
The Incredibles
Another solid addition to the Pixar library with a family friendly film all about superheroes that the adults will surely enjoy also. Some spot on choices for the actors and very likeable characters made this film a hit, also thanks to having an interesting storyline that flowed very well. Enough action and excitement for the kids as well as the big kids at heart too and like other Pixar animations it visually looks great. I would definitley reccomend giving it a go you won't be disappointed!
156
Charlie St. Cloud 2010,  PG-13)
Charlie St. Cloud
A pleasant film with a decent, yet predictable, storyline about Charlie who deals with the loss of his younger Brother Sam. It is nice to see Zac Efron in a different and more serious role and he tackles it well, and Charlie was a likeable character. No other stand-outs in the film, though Amanda Crew was also likeable as Tess. Its nothing we haven't seen before so don't expect anyting groundbreaking, but its enjoyable enough and the right audience will easily enjoy it, others simply won't.
157
Pretty in Pink 1986,  PG-13)
Pretty in Pink
Obviously a rather iconic film from the 80's and I didn't really know if I'd like it or not, but I actually did thanks to some likeable and interesting characters. Andie isnt one of those popular girls at school but she still catches the attention of Blaine, a rich popular boy, who Andie's best friend Duckie simply doesn't trust! Decent acting and a good storyline mostly revolved around the prom which is the film's final event. It ends rather suddenly but overall an enjoyable 80's film to watch.
158
Transformers: Dark of the Moon 2011,  PG-13)
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Like the first and second Transformers film there's a bunch of explosions, one smoking hot girl and not that much when it comes to plot but sometimes that isn't a bad thing because I was entertained and enjoying it, until the final scene went on for a good hour and got a little bored. 157 mins is too long, especially when that cool final scene with all the action goes on for way too long. I did enjoy watching this film, and Transformers fans will too, but there certainly is room for improvement.
159
Slumdog Millionaire 2008,  R)
Slumdog Millionaire
I didn't doubt that I wouldn't like this film and I was right. It was a very uplifting story about a determined Indian teenager, Jamal, wanting to find the love of his life, Latika, through the Millionaire TV show. Its very confronting also and shows the harsh life of a slumdog living in India. A very clever storyline also showing how Jamal answers his questions right by going through his upbringing. Overall a brilliant film well deserving of the 8 oscasrs it won, and I would reccomend it :)
160
How to Lose Friends & Alienate People 2008,  R)
How to Lose Friends & Alienate People
This is a fairly funny film and with a likeable actor like Simon Pegg as the lead playing a likeable character in Sidney Young you can't help but enjoy watching it. Having said that it's not the most interesting of storylines and a little dull here and there. Kirsten Dunst is good as Sidney's love interest Alison and Megan Fox is quite funny, if not borderline irritating as the sexy Sophie Maes. Overall nothing we haven't seen before but if you're a fan of the actors its worth a look.
161
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective 1994,  PG-13)
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
Jim Carrey is funny, don't get me wrong, and I normally love his films, and while I like the sequel to this film I never really liked the first one. It has its funny moment but sometimes Jim goes a little overboard with the comedy and some of the jokes really miss the mark. The idea of a pet detective is good, and I think it worked a lot better in the sequel, but not so well here. Overall its still worth a look for a good laugh, and Jim Carrey fans will probably like it regardless, but I didn't.
162
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 2011,  PG-13)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2
A nice solid ending to what has easily been one of the best film series for my generation. Part 1 was a little slow so Part 2 had to have a little more Action and Adventure and it certainly did :) We also lose a few character this time 'round being the finale and all so be prepared to be shocked! It certainly could have been mind blowing and while I think it's one of the best Harry Potter films I think they could have done a little bit more to make it outstanding, but overall a solid effort!
163
Arachnophobia 1990,  PG-13)
Arachnophobia
A mix of Comedy & Horror made this a rather enjoyable film from the early 90's that I was surprised I'd never seen before. It shared similarities to Eight Legged Freaks but less Hollywood and more classic 80's/90's Horror which is why its had decent reviews. Jeff Daniels is likeable as the lead character and I must say for an older film the spiders were quite effective and anyone with a fear of spiders would simply be in a living hell, so luckily I don't mind them :P Overall worth a look! :)
164
Predators 2010,  R)
Predators
Fans of Arnie's Predator will love this one that's better than the second and stays true to the first unlike the AVP series did. It's back in the jungle as a group, lead by Adrian Brody try and survive being hunted down. Alice Braga is also impressive as the only female character Isabelle. There are a few nods to the original film which I liked, and while slightly dull in a few parts when it picks up there is nothing but non-stop action which leads to one hell of a finale! I just loved it!
165
Shaun of the Dead 2004,  R)
Shaun of the Dead
So many Horror/Comedy films got it wrong so its nice to see a 'zomedy' that actually worked! The Brits seemed to know what they were doing here and having likeable actors like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost really worked well. A very corny storyline that would only work in a film like this with plenty of very funny moments and some hilarious characters like Shaun & Ed. Anyone that loves a good comedy or is a zombie movie fan will really enjoy this, and I highly reccomend it.
166
Step Brothers 2008,  R)
Step Brothers
Took me a while to see it but I'm glad I did as its very funny indeed! Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly were both excellent choices as two middle aged men who become Brothers after their single parents get married. There are some hilarious scenes and one-liners in this film as well as some gross-out moments also, thanks to the two leads. Its the perfect film if you're in need of a good laugh and I think anyone that has a sibling, especially a Brother, will know all too well what it's like!
167
Beastly 2011,  PG-13)
Beastly
Very chiché and predictable, and it felt like it was aimed at a teenage audience more than anything, but I still enjoyed this film. Its a twisted take on the Beauty & The Beast tale for modern audiences and I think that part was done well, but its hard to avoid the chiché's that were included. Alex Pettyfer & Vanessa Hudgens were very good together and Kyle quickly turns from a very unlikeable character to the complete opposite. Overall could have been better but still a decent film!
168
Easy A 2010,  PG-13)
Easy A
I never doubted I wouldn't like this and I was right, and I think having the very likeable Emma Stone as the lead really helped because let's face it she's just awesome! Emma plays Olive, who gets a bad reputation at school for being a slut. Watching Olive trying to live down, then simply live up to that name is very funny. Beware as there are many characters so it hard to keep track of them all, but overall a very funny high school comedy that can comfortably sit up there with the greats :)
169
Tangled 2010,  PG)
Tangled
Another solid addition to the Disney collection and this reminds me of films from their classic 90's era which is great :) Both Rapunzel & Eugene are very likeable lead characters and children will especially like Maximus the horse, I certainly did xD Its a nice simplistic storyline and a lil' twist on the Rapunzel twist we all know. It also visually looks amazing, especially in a particular scene on a boat. Overall Disney never fail to put a foot wrong, I'd highly recommend seeing it :)
170
Death Becomes Her 1992,  PG-13)
Death Becomes Her
This is a rather silly film, but I grew up with it and watched it a few times as a kid and just loved it and it still has a good comical effect on me today. Meryl, Goldie & Bruce are all perfect together and have great charisma, especially Meryl & Goldie who have a great catfight towards the end. It has its flaws and not all the jokes hit the right mark but overall its very funny and if not taken too seriously you will enjoy it, and fans of the main three actors should give it a go as well.
171
Gladiator 2000,  R)
Gladiator
A decent action flick that could have done with a shorter running time at the end of the day, but there's enough there to keep you entertained. Russell Crowe is great as Maximus but I think Joaquin Phoenix was even better as the evil Commodus and really portrayed a great villain. It starts of rather slow and it probably takes a good hour to really kick into gear, but the fight scenes are great as is the scenery. Overall it has flaws but it's certainly deserved the hype and awards it got :)
172
National Lampoon's Vacation 1983,  R)
National Lampoon's Vacation
A classic 80's film that I grew up with and probably the best from the Vacation series. Chevy Chase is perfect as Clark Griswold, a determined Father who wants the perfect holiday for his family. There are so many memorable scenes and funny moments that make this film memorable, most involving Clark himself. Its a nice simple storyline as we follow the family's journey to Wally World. Overall a classic 90's film and a highlight from my childhood as it somewhat reminds me of my family ;)
173
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time 2010,  PG-13)
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
A fairly decent Action/Adventure flick from Disney but I kind of lost interest pretty quickly at the start and struggled to get it back. Scenery looked amazing and it had all the right special effects and enough sword fights to match any other film like it, but perhaps the characters and predictable storyline let it down. Jake Gyllenhaal was good as Dastan but nobody really stood out in the film. Overall nothing we haven't seen before, but still a good film with all the right moves.
174
The Descent 2005,  R)
The Descent
One of the only Horror films that still manages to scare me after seeing it 4 or 5 times, and its not only thanks to the 'crawlers', who are truly terrifying creatures, but the women who are so quick to turn on one another. Sarah's 'descent' into madness is amazing to watch, and Natalie Mendoza is fantastic as bad-ass Juno. There is also a great feel for claustrophobia once the women hit all the tight spots in the caves. Overall a brilliant Horror film that spawned a great sequel too!
175
The Descent 2 2009,  R)
The Descent 2
While not as good as the first its certainly an impressive sequel that fans of the first should be pleased with. We finally find out what happens to Sarah and her friends and we are also introduced to Ellen, played by Krysten Cummings, a new bad-ass chick with a pick ;) Great to see both Sarah and Juno back, and the 'crawlers' too of course. Starts off a little disjointed but comes together very well in the end with a shocking finale. Overall I loved it and here's hoping for a third perhaps?
176
Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011,  PG-13)
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
If this is anything to go by we will be having one hell of a series to look forward to! Instead of being full-on with action we are introduced to baby Caesar, the lead chimp, and we watch him grow to be the independent ape he becomes. The CGI is just amazing, and Andy Serkis is an obvious stand-out as the lead ape Caesar, but James Franco is also great as Caesar's 'Father' Will. Overall this is an amazing film and one of the highlights of 2011, and I just can't wait to see what happens next!
177
National Lampoon's European Vacation 1985,  PG-13)
National Lampoon's European Vacation
While I didn't enjoy it as much as the second one it certainly still a very funny film thanks to its cast and characters. The Griswold family is back once again trying to attempt the perfect holiday but everything just keeps going wrong for poor Clark! There is a bit more slapstick comedy in this one, possibly because its Europe, and sometimes it works sometimes it simply does not. Chevy Chase still provides us with the majority of the laughs as well. Overall still a very funny Vacation film!
178
Broken Hill 2009,  PG)
Broken Hill
My acting debut in a film! OK now that's out of the way I really loved this film, and not just because I happen to be in it (as an extra) but it's got a great storyline to it, that musicians in particular will really love. Tommy is a very likeable character, and while his love interest Kat (Spy Kids Alexa Vega) isn't that likeable at first we certainly warm up to her towards the end. Great music and lovely scenery to make it a very enjoyable to film to watch, and also to be a part of as well ;)
179
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 1989,  PG-13)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Loved the first one and liked the second one so obviously I was still gonna like the third, but it's easily the weakest of the three as it's getting a little too silly now. Chevy Chase, once again, brings all the laughs but they've brought in more slapstick like they had in European and made it almost directed at a younger audience. Sure there are some funny scenes but compared to the first it doesn't come close to being as good, but still it's enjoyable enough to watch and quite funny.
180
The Human Centipede (First Sequence) 2009,  R)
The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
It's safe to say this is one pretty sick & twisted film, but that's what makes it so good. I didn't love it but I certainly appreciated it and I could see the direction Tom Six was coming from in making a very unpleasant film for people to watch. It had all the right suspense and while it wasn't as gory as I was expecting it was certainly rather uncomfortable to watch at times. It was also left with a rather open ending so I'm looking forward to seeing the sequel to see what happens!
181
Stan Helsing 2009,  R)
Stan Helsing
When I saw 'Executive Producers of Scary Movie' I thought I'd give it a go, hoping it would be just as good as the series, but boy was I wrong. Adding to the pile of shit parody films that have been released recently is this one. Really struggled to get any laughs out of me despite having a few decent actors like Kenan Thompson & Leslie Nielsen. I don't understand how Scary Movie can get it so right yet so many others fail to make a funny movie, so definitely avoid this at all costs!
182
Bad Teacher 2011,  R)
Bad Teacher
This film is quite funny but having said that I'm a massive Cameron Diaz fan and she always plays these very likeable characters; this wasn't the case here. Her character, Elizabeth Halsey, was a bitch to say the least and she never gets any better either. It's quite amusing watching her bring down another teacher (Squirrel) and fall for the good guy (played by Justin Timberlake) but it's sort of been done before. Still had the laughs and kept me amused, but certainly not Cameron's finest work.
183
Sucker Punch 2011,  PG-13)
Sucker Punch
Just as good as it was the first time I saw it, and I was worried it wouldn't be as its obvious a film like this has more of a 'WOW' effect in a cinema, but it's the storyline as well as the amazing special effects that really draw you in! Emily Browning is great as Baby Doll, who will do whatever it takes to escape the mental asylum she is now in. The 'Inception' type dreaming going on can be confusing so try to enjoy the ride more than think about it, and that's what I did and just loved it!
184
Vegas Vacation 1997,  PG)
Vegas Vacation
Again, another Vacation film hasn't lived up to the original however I think it's better than the others (especially Christmas) and the laughs are definitely all there. Chevy Chase is back, of course, as is the rest of the family for another Vacation, this time in Las Vegas! It's no Wally World but there are enough funny events, and having Cousin Eddie in the mix too makes it pretty funny. Overall it's an enjoyable comedy from the late 90's I remember really enjoying as a kid and I still do now!
185
Kick-Ass 2010,  R)
Kick-Ass
Better second time 'round and still highly enjoyable as high school student Dave decides he wants to become a superhero, but fails to realize he has the real superheros to deal with. While Aaron Johnson is good he's no match for young Chloe Moretz who is fantastic as Hit-Girl. Great storyline to it as well that comic book fans will get a kick out of, and it's certainly more violent than you would think obviously being aimed at a teenage audience. Overall Kick-Ass certainly lives up to it's name!
186
Drag Me to Hell 2009,  PG-13)
Drag Me to Hell
Much better second time 'round for some reason as I seemed to 'get' the Horror/Comedy blend this time. Alison Lohman is fantastic as Christine, who is a very likeable lead character. Some of the scenes are outrageous and quite gruesome, and even sometimes a tad silly, but they really work and make the film quite enjoyable to watch. It won't be one for everyone but Horror fans should get their kicks out of this one, and I would certainly reccomend it, especially for fans of Raimi's earlier work.

A Bug's Life 1998,  G)
A Bug's Life
Another fine addition to the Disney collection and the Pixar collection also, and while it's no Toy Story it's certainly a great family film. We follow Flick the ant and his life in an ant colony, terrorized by grasshoppers. It's such a creative idea and portrayed perfectly with likeable characters and a not-so-likeable villain that Kevin Spacey fits perfectly. The events are played out well and there's enough to keep youngsters amused as well as adults. Overall an enjoyable Disney flick ;)

Burlesque 2010,  PG-13)
Burlesque
It might be the musical numbers that won me over but there's no denying this is a highly entertaining film and both Christina Aguilera & Cher were just amazing. It shares one too many similarities to Coyote Ugly but it has a solid storyline backed up by great acting from some well known starts, and of course some outstanding musical numbers, mostly from Christina. Fans of the pop singer will be in their element here but I think it's one everyone will really enjoy as I certainly did :)

Serenity 2005,  PG-13)
Serenity
While this is a good film I think I would have enjoyed it more having seen Firefly, the TV Series, first but I still managed to enjoy it. Likeable characters and plenty of Sci-Fi Action meant this film had plenty of good going for it, and I'm sure the massive fan basis from Firefly would have loved this film, but I was left a little bored at times here and there. I can see why it's been such a popular and successful film and would recommend it, but I've seen better Sci-Fi flicks out there.

Christmas Vacation 2 - Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure 2003,  Unrated)
Christmas Vacation 2 - Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure
Compared to the other Vacation films it's a hot mess, and as a film on it's own it's pretty much that too, and while it certainly made me laugh a few times it was for the wrong reasons. Randy Quaid takes Chevy's place as the leading man, and he does a decent job, but it's the terrible storyline and over the top slapstick comedy that made it painful to watch. Having said all that it's obvious making it they weren't after any Oscar awards so I'm not surprised it was as bad as it turned out to be!

Halloween 2007,  R)
Halloween
Very different to the Carpenter original but what an improvement for someone from my generation anyway as it's got everything we Horror fans love. Plenty of blood, gore & violence plus you know Rob Zombie will include sex & nudity also which is a little much but doesn't affect the outcome. Michael Myers is scarier than ever but what's great is we learn about his past and it was a great way to open the film. Overall a solid Horror film and a personal favourite of mine I'd highly recommend it!
192
Liar Liar 1997,  PG-13)
Liar Liar
Easily my favourite Jim Carrey performance and one very funny film I grew up with. He is perfect as lawyer Fletcher who can't tell a lie after a wish his son made on his Birthday. Watching Fletcher try and stretch the truth is hilarious and it's definitely one of those movies that has you laughing all the time. A little silly here and there but it all works and no other man could have pulled it off like Jim has. I'd highly recommend it for a good laugh, especially for Jim Carrey fans!
193
Year One 2009,  PG-13)
Year One
A funny film but certainly not one to be taken seriously as it's also quite silly. Reminds me of the spoof films around just a little bit with all the slapstick comedy involved. Both Jack Black & Michael Cera work well together but while they are funny they can also be both irritating to watch at times too. Some of the jokes simply did not work, again a common thing with the spoof films too, but there were enough good jokes and funny scenes to make up for it, so it's worth a look for a chuckle.
194
The Neverending Story 1984,  PG)
The Neverending Story
A classic 80's children's film that I grew up with, and I hadn't seen it in so many years and quite enjoyed stepping back in time and watching it again. Surprisingly it still holds its ground and is still a great fantasy film that doesn't need all the CGI from today to have the same effect. While children from today's generation might not enjoy it as much as we did I still quite enjoyed watching it, with likeable characters like Atreyu & Falkor. If you've yet to see this film make sure you do!
195
The Princess and the Frog 2009,  G)
The Princess and the Frog
Once again Disney doesn't disappoint and gives us another brilliant film that reminds me of the classic Disney films from the 90's I grew up with. The songs are enjoyable and the characters are very likeable especially Tiana & Naveen, well except for Dr. Facilier who is pure evil (Jafar anyone?) but you can't help but have a smile on your face and tap your toes the whole way through and that's just what a Disney film can do to you ;) Any Disney fan will just love it and I highly recommend it!
196
Conan the Barbarian 2011,  R)
Conan the Barbarian
An enjoyable Action film with plenty to keep you interested, and Jason Momoa is certainly a fine actor and definitely a great choice for Conan! I was also rather impressed by Rose McGowan as the pure evil Marique. It has a flaw here and there but in general you are always entertained and for an Action film there is hardly a dull moment so I really liked that. Can't compare it to the original because I have not seen it but I'm sure guys in particular will really enjoy this as I certainly did :)
197
Monsters, Inc. 2001,  G)
Monsters, Inc.
No surprise Disney gives us another top-notch film and another fine film from Pixar also. This was released when I was a little older but still a fond memory from my childhood and I still love it today. The characters are very likeable, especially Sully, and you can't help but fall in love with Boo. Great storyline and such a creative idea also having a world for Monsters. I'm surprised a sequel never followed because it would be sure to be a hit, and if you've yet to see this one change that!
198
Max Payne 2008,  PG-13)
Max Payne
A good Action film but it never got better than just good because it was a little messy in parts. Mark Wahlberg is always quite good acting wise, but he does seem to play the bad-ass all the time. I never really got into the storyline and I'm not sure if that's because it was a little dull here and there or I thought it was going to be a Horror and got disappointed :P Overall it was decent and I can see guys in particular enjoying this, and while I did like it I probably wouldn't watch it again.
199
Lord of the Flies 1963,  Unrated)
Lord of the Flies
This is a good film from a great story about survival, but it's unfortunately showing its age now. Things like audio synchronization and even the acting were just a little too sloppy and while some can look past that it kind of irritated me. The characters we were meant to like were quite likeable, especially Simon more-so than Ralph or Piggy. The storyline is better than the film itself so that where the film gets it's rating because everything else seems more like a hot mess these days.
200
Harriet the Spy 1996,  PG)
Harriet the Spy
Some children's films can have the same effect they did when you watched them when you were a kid, this film did not. It's a harmless kids flick about a little girl wanting to be a spy, but I think it's delivered some mixed messages about revenge especially. Michelle Trachtenberg is likeable as young Harriet and Rosie O'Donnell also plays a very likeable Nanny called Golly, but the storyline lacked consistency and while kids will enjoy it older viewers will pick the flaws quickly ;)
201
Final Destination 5 2011,  R)
Final Destination 5
The sequels started to get a little too corny, so thankfully the fifth installment in the series has gone back to the original ways and boy what a great film this was! Acting was decent but it was the death scenes that were just amazing, especially the opening scene. The storyline took a new twist to it, as well as having one hell of an ending making it a real stand-out in the series. Overall it will certainly please fans of the original, and win some new ones along for the ride!
202
The Blair Witch Project 1999,  R)
The Blair Witch Project
Easily one of the scariest Horror films I've seen, and despite seeing it a few times now that final scene will always give me chills. Having said that as a film it's a little dull with only those one or two 'scary' scenes being real highlights. Acting was very good and the 'shaky cam' effect was done perfectly, but perhaps there wasn't enough Horror in what is obviously a Horror film. It's not the best of the genre yet it's still surprisingly one of the scariest so I give it props for that!
203
Land of the Dead 2005,  R)
Land of the Dead
One of my all-time favourite zombie films and it's no surprise Romero is behind the camera as he simply knows how to make a great zombie movie. What's differs this film from the others is that we focus on individual zombies, and they even have names, as well as the survivors. Great cast with Simon Baker a perfect choice for the lead and strong performances from both Leguizamo & Hopper. There are also some very memorable scenes and lines making it an iconic Horror film for our generation!
204
Funny Games 2007,  R)
Funny Games
Haven't seen the original so can't compare it to that, but I did not like this film despite being so intrigued when it first began. It seemed similar to other 'home invasion' films I've seen before, but took a rather strange turn for the worse about half way through. Acting was brilliant and it's hard to say who did a better job out of Naomi Watts as the victim or the two young boys as the villains. It's a shame that went to waste though as it simply went downhill and I did not enjoy it at all.
205
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant 2009,  PG-13)
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant
I was quite surprised I liked this because I had a feeling I wouldn't. Plenty of likeable characters and a good storyline that was from the first three books in the series. John C. Reilly was good as the lead vampire and young Chris Massogila was also good as his assistant. I really liked the circus side of things with all the freaks, and anything vampire & horror related was really cool. It's aimed at a teenage audience which isn't really a bad thing because it made me enjoy it even more :)
206
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist 2008,  PG-13)
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
A good teenage film but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sick of Michael Cera playing the same akward teen in every film he does. Characters are fairly likeable and the storyline follows Nick & Norah on a search for a band in the city as well as their friendship developing into something more perhaps? It will be a good film for the right audiences and while I did enjoy it and it is also something original it's not anything groundbreaking nor was it that exciting to watch, but still a good film.
207
Johnny English 2003,  PG)
Johnny English
Rowan Atkinson, or better known as good old Mr. Bean, leads the cast in this rather funny British spy movie. It has many similarities to Austin Powers or The Pink Panther, both of which I loved, so I managed to enjoy this despite it being very silly and sometimes just stupid. Having said that Rowan is such a likeable actor and he plays a dumb yet likeable character so it ends up being watchable in the end. Natalie Imbruglia also does a good job as the leading lady. Overall worth a look :)
208
After the Sunset 2004,  PG-13)
After the Sunset
Wasn't overly keen on watching this and wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did, but there we go. It was a very entertaining movie with likeable actors and characters, especially the leads. It's a great storyline about two jewel thieves with plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep you guessing. Pierce Brosnan was a perfect choice for the lead as was Salma Hayek as his leading lady Lola. Overall an Action-packed adventure well worth watching, I'd certainly reccomend it :)
209
Johnny English Reborn 2011,  PG)
Johnny English Reborn
I don't think it was as good as the first but it was still rather entertaining but mostly thanks to the likeable actor that Rowan Atkinson is. It's a similar storyline and similar comedy also but being 10 years later the technology has updated itself now ;) Some of the jokes weren't that funny but the ones that were seemed to hit the right spots. Those that enjoy Austin Powers will also enjoy this like I did, but overall it's only a good sequel when it could have been much better.
210
The Final Destination 2009,  R)
The Final Destination
The fourth addition to the series is the worst but having said that it's still a very entertaining Horror film and what fans should expect anyway. There aren't any well known actors in this one so the acting is a little on the dodgy side, but this film does look great in 3D with the deaths obviously standing out, despite being very corny and unrealistic at times. Overall it's might not please everyone but fans of the series will appreciate it, but never fear because the fifth one is much better!
211
Insidious 2011,  PG-13)
Insidious
Definitely wasn't expecting this film to take the turn it did into something very different! It's a very spooky film which will give you many chills, and a few jumps here and there also, but a solid storyline and acting made this very enjoyable to watch. It's not the best in the genre but certainly a solid effort as a family try to help their possessed son. Overall I would definitely recommend it, especially to those that love a good paranormal film with things that go bump in the night! ;)
212
The Reptile 1966,  Unrated)
The Reptile
Another Hammer Horror film that I liked but obviously did not love, and the ending felt a little rushed. It was an intriguing storyline, especially when Anna came into play, and unlike some of the other Hammer Horror films I've watched I didn't get bored in it. Acting was decent as were the special effects, but the 'reptile' looked a little dodgy. Overall nothing amazing but still a decent Horror flick for that era and I was amused while watching it, probably when I should have been scared ;)
213
Fright Night 2011,  R)
Fright Night
Vampire films often tend to be hit & miss, but luckily this one is all hit! A few flaws aside it's a very entertaining and enjoyable film with a great cast and concept, and while I haven't seen the original I hear it's stayed true to it, as well as other related vampire films. Anton Yelchin & Colin Farrell are great together and Jerry was the perfect vampire villain! Overall an enjoyable Horror film that will easily please fans of the genre, and it's one of the better recent vampire flicks!
214
Small Soldiers 1998,  PG-13)
Small Soldiers
I loved this film as a kid and not surprisingly enough I still thoroughly enjoyed it and all the action it had to offer! While it might appear to be a kids film it's far from it with plenty of action and enough to keep any adult entertained. It's kind of like a violent version of Toy Story as a group of toy soldiers attempt to take over. Sure it's corny but I think that's what made it work so well and with voices like Tommy Lee Jones and even Sarah Michelle Gellar they couldn't go wrong!
215
Hook 1991,  PG)
Hook
A timeless classic family film from the early 90's that has still managed to impress me after a good 20 years since it was released. I hadn't seen it for quite a few years so I was rather surprised how good it was. Great acting from both Robin Williams & Dustin Hoffman and there's no doubt this film will continue to impress those of all ages in years to come. I particularly loved The Lost Boys scenes which had a real innocence to it, so overall a fantastic family film well worth watching!
216
Perfect Stranger 2007,  R)
Perfect Stranger
It's hard not to call this a 'twist' film when that's pretty much what it is, but there is so much more to it also with Halle Berry leading the cast as reporter Rowena. As great as Halle is there is another actor who also shines and that's Giovanni Ribisi as Rowena's friend Miles. Great storyline that keeps you guessing the whole way through and while it might be slow paced it certainly holds my attention and I'm always intrigued as what's going to happen next. Well worth taking a look!
217
Turistas (Paradise Lost) 2006,  R)
Turistas (Paradise Lost)
This is a very different kind of Horror/Thriller but something refreshing and new is always nice, and beware travelers because this could just put you off taking a holiday to Brazil ;) When a group of young tourists get caught up with the wrong people they begin to fight for their lives! The underwater scenery is beautifully shot, and somewhat painful to watch also as the characters struggle for air :P Overall a suspenseful film with something for everyone and worth checking out!
218
H2: Halloween II 2009,  R)
H2: Halloween II
After seeing this for a second time I enjoyed it more and respected it more as a decent sequel to a great film film from Rob Zombie. It's missing that slasher flick feel the original had but I loved how it takes place moments after the first one finished, and still features four returning characters. The death scenes are extremely brutal but still with the right taste and watching Laurie's quick descent into a lost soul/party girl is quite interesting to watch. I'm quite impressed :)
219
Quarantine 2: Terminal 2011,  R)
Quarantine 2: Terminal
I had my doubts being a direct-to-DVD sequel to one of my all-time favourite Horror films (Quarantine) but I'm happy to say I was more than pleasantly surprised. It was a very impressive sequel that follows a similar format to the first which works well, and the plane & airport setting worked perfectly also. Good group of characters that might be played by a group of unknowns but it didn't matter at all. Not as scary as the first but still had it's jumps here and there. Overall a great film!
220
The House Bunny 2008,  PG-13)
The House Bunny
As silly as it might seem this is a very likeable film thanks to the one and only Anna Faris who easily brings the majority of laughs here. She plays playboy bunny Shelley who becomes a house Mother for a struggling sorority house. There are so many funny moments and one-liners which constantly keep you laughing, and it's a creative idea that works well also. The characters are also very likeable and not just Shelley. Overall a great comedy well worth checking out for a good laugh!
221
My Soul to Take 2010,  R)
My Soul to Take
This was a nice little surprise and one heck of a Horror film that started off a little weird but once it picked up it was just amazing. Wes Craven simply knows how to make a great Horror movie and he's made this similar to his 90's films. Great storyline and likeable characters, despite a cast of unknowns, and twist upon twist right until the very end! The final scenes are interesting, and perhaps could have been better, but overall a solid addition to the genre and well worth watching!
222
Clash of the Titans 2010,  PG-13)
Clash of the Titans
While I heard a lot of bad about this film I think I was still pretty surprised as I rather enjoyed watching it. Corny perhaps, and I guess I can't compare it to the original, but everything was there to make it an enjoyable action film with monsters galore as well as likeable characters and some kick-ass action scenes. I particularly liked the scenes with Medusa and the witches, and the Kraken also looked rather impressive. I was impressed so despite what some say it's still worth checking out!
223
The Last Airbender 2010,  PG)
The Last Airbender
A decent amount of action and adventure but because I'm not familiar with it's original source being the anime series I struggled to enjoy it (and even stay awake). I can see why it copped some slack but I can also see why others have enjoyed this film as the special effects are very good and it has likeable characters and decent acting. There isn't anything particularly bad about this film, I still enjoyed it, I think it just struggled to hold my attention and keep me entertained throughout.
224
Horrible Bosses 2011,  R)
Horrible Bosses
A nice twist on your typical 'friends' comedy as three mates decide to take revenge on each of their own horrible bosses. It has similarities to films like The Hangover but the idea is fresh and new and delivered exactly the way it should be. A likeable cast and some great acting performances made this work and there are plenty of laughs throughout the film right up to the nail-biting finale! Overall it's certainly one of the best comedies from this year and I would certainly recommend it :)
225
Knight & Day 2010,  PG-13)
Knight & Day
An unlikely duo of Cruise & Diaz surprisingly worked very well in this comedy flick, and while it's nothing that hasn't been done before it's an enjoyable film that I liked watching. It's an interesting concept and it's hard to say how well it would have worked with different actors, but Tom Cruise fits his role perfectly as does Cameron Diaz playing the somewhat clueless and always hilarious June. Overall nothing new but good for a laugh and for some kick-ass action scenes!
226
What Happens in Vegas 2008,  PG-13)
What Happens in Vegas
A little on the predictable side sure but there's no denying that this is a good comedy with two likeable leads that simply make it work. I think it's great they've turned a saying we all know and made a storyline out of it that was quite clever. Kutcher does get grating but Diaz is as charming as always and they both play off one another very well and give us plenty of laughs. Overall a great comedy that isn't groundbreaking but enjoyable, but it's a shame they aren't in Vegas for longer.
227
Green Lantern 2011,  PG-13)

Bridesmaids 2011,  R)
Bridesmaids
This is easily one of the funniest films of 2011, and if you think it's just for the girls then you're dead wrong because it's got enough for the guys as well. Kristin Wiig is the stand-out in the talented cast but Melissa McCarthy is also a scene-stealer as Megan as is Rose Byrne as bitchy Helen. It's one of those films full of laughs thanks to likable characters and creative ideas from the writers. Overall it's one not to be missed, and you're bound to have a good laugh with it.
229
Priest 2011,  PG-13)
Priest
This is a decent Action/Horror that has some pros, but at the end of the day it lacked a few major qualities that made films similar to it like Underworld more successful and entertaining. I found the characters a little weak, and the Action was slow until the final few scenes. It also has a rather short running time under 80 minutes so you finally feel like the film takes off, and it ends. Overall there's enough here to enjoy it, but it could have been a lot better for such a promising premise.

The Loved Ones 2009,  Unrated)
The Loved Ones
The Loved Ones is a brilliant Australian Horror and easily one of my all-time favourite films thanks to the storyline, characters and the brilliant actors portraying them! Director and Writer Sean Byrne has really created an Aussie gem that no Horror fan should miss out on as we watch Brent enter a world of terror as he is held captive from a crazed Father and his daughter Lola determied to have the ideal prom at home, where Brent is everything she desires! Can Brent escape this sadistic world before its too late?

Robin McLeavy. Where do I start with this talented young actress that has portrayed one of the most evil girls in Horror history! While Xavier Samuel is fantastic as Brent its really Robin that steals the show and she does an outstanding job. Props must also go to John Brumpton that does a smashing job as her equally twisted Father. While the other actors are great also they aren't in comparrison to the three leads that easily steal the show just like they are meant to.

Nothing spells terror more like an innocent high school student held captive at his fellow classmate's ideal prom at home. The idea was just brilliant and portrayed perfectly thanks to such an intriguing storyline and character you both loved and hated at the same time. While obviously being villains I couldn't help but want to find out more about Lola, Daddy and even Bright Eyes as they were such an interesting family, while being totally twisted at the same time. Visually the film also looked fantastic, especially the scenes at the dinner table.

Overall The Loved Ones is a brilliant film and one I would highly reccomend to any Horror fan out there. Its a sick and twisted ride but one you're bound to love, and its certainly a film you won't forget anytime soon!

Scream 4
Fans of the first three Scream films, especially the first, will be more than pleased with the fourth installment as I absolutley loved it! I was afraid it wouldn't live up to all the hype but boy it certainly did! Sidney, Dewey & Gale are back once again trying to solve another murder mystery case, and once again the killer is after them. Full of thrills, kills and plenty of blood & gore there isn't much this film didn't have! Overall Scream 4 was well worth the wait and I just loved it!

Loved it :D Kane is the perfect bad-ass killer simply for his size and very evil facial expressions :P Great cast and characters plus the storylin was very creative and clever. Death scenes were awesome and nothing beats a Horror film with plenty of blood and gore :) Christina Vidal was a stand-out for me acting wise along with Kane of course. Overall Horror fans should be kept entertained and impressed, and it's well worth checking out!

In Time 2011,  PG-13)
In Time
This was a great Action-packed film thanks to a strong lead like Justin Timberlake and one very creative concept. Having people pay and live by time on their arms is such a clever idea and pulled off very well in this movie. Amanda Seyfried is also a fine female lead, and she looks totally different to what she normally does. Overall a brilliant film with plenty to keep you entertained, and easily one of the most creative ideas for a film that I have seen in a long time!
252
The Hills Have Eyes 2006,  R)
The Hills Have Eyes
One of the most memorable and graphic Horror films I've ever seen and it remains to be one of my all-time favourites. Some scenes in particular will have you speechless as they are both disturbing yet brilliant. The cast is great lead by Aaron Stanford as Doug, plus the 'mutants' are also played very well. Its a great storyline and you really feel for this innocent family who's life is turned upside down. Overall a brilliant Horror film that no Horror fan should miss out on!

Super 8 2011,  PG-13)
Super 8
What a film! If you can combine the innocence of Stand by Me and The Goonies mixed with a little Sci-Fi from E.T. and Cloverfield then you get Super 8. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this and I think it worked perfectly having a young cast who all performed brilliantly. Its a very mysterious film that draws you in as you get taken on a wild ride like no other, from the expolsive train crash to the uplifting ending. I would highly reccomened this film and its certainly one of the best of the year!

The Lion King 1994,  G)
The Lion King
Easily one of Disney's best work, and such an iconic film from the mid 90's that surely everyone's managed to see now. I grew up loving this film and still love it today. The idea of a community of animals working together in Africa for a film was just great, and it has some outstanding songs that will never be forgotten. Scar could also be one of the most evil villains ever ;) Overall its a film I'll always love and no matter how many times I see it I can't see me ever getting sick of it :P
256
Hairspray 2007,  PG)
Hairspray
Easily one of my all-time favourite films with such a great cast and catchy songs, plus the films has very important themes and a strong message. Every song will have you tapping your feet while the performances of the cast are just amazing with newcommer Nikki Blonsky perfect as the lead Tracy, while John Travolta gives us something different playing her mother Edna. Its a real improvement on the 1988 original also. Overall its a must-see and a film everyone is surely to enjoy :D

Its probably the third or fourth time I've seen it now, but the first time I've really appreciated it as a brilliant film and its now one of my all-time favourites. Its the bond between the four friends, especially Gordy and Chris, that makes this a great film to watch, as well as how likeable these characters really are. The acting is also brilliant and all four lead starts are very impressive. Its a classic 80's film and definitley not one to be missed, and it really is just a joy to watch!

2012
Not bad at all and possibly the best special effects I've seen in a film, but with the good came some rather corny and un-realistic moments here and there. John Cusack wasn't particularry good as the male lead but Chiwetel Ejofor was quite likeable. Storyline was good and kicked into gear rather quickly. It did share similarities to both Deep Impact and War of the Worlds; both which were just as good. The final scenes of the film are probably the best, and overall its definitley worth seeing!

Dreamgirls 2006,  PG-13)
Dreamgirls
One of my all-time favourite films thanks to a brilliant cast and storyline blended with some great songs, plus some stand-out performanes from the likes of newcommer Jennifer Hudson to R&B star Beyoncé. From star to finish the mood is set perfectly with the soulful 60's and 70's music as we follow Deena, Effie and Lorell's up's and down's in their music career. There is never a dull moment and the songs are just amazing. Overall a brilliant musical and one I would definitley reccomed :)

The Skeleton Key 2005,  PG-13)
The Skeleton Key
This is one of the few films that you really need to see for the 'twist' :) Its a great film involving hoodoo, yes that hoodoo not voodoo, and Kate Hudson is excellent as the lead character Caroline. A slow moving yet very intriguing film that doesn't rely on jumpy bits or action scenes to really draw in the viewer unlike most Horror/Thriller films these days. Like I said the twist ending will be one you're sure to get a kick out of, and I highly reccomend this to anyone :D

Beowulf 2007,  PG-13)
Beowulf
A real surprise as it was totally not what I was expecting. A non-stop Action film that could really go the distance being a CGI film. Its a great storyline as our hero Beowulf helps a town being terrorized by a vicious monster. The actors are great, with Ray Winstone leading the way as Beowulf. Brendan Gleeson offers some humor as his close friend Wiglaf. Overall its a brilliant film with great special effects, and anyone who loves a fantasy or Action-packed film will surely enjoy it :)

Their Eyes Were Watching God 2005,  Unrated)
Their Eyes Were Watching God
This film really made me notice Halle Berry as an outstanding actor. The film is such a beautiful story of Janie Starks and her journey to discover herself and who she really is. The storyline has so many beautiful and also some sad moments but it's a great journey to go on. Halle Berry is the obvious stand-out and has portrayed Janie very well. The story's message of finding out about love and living is delivered so well and so clearly as well. A must-see and a film I just love :D

Orphan 2009,  R)
Orphan
Orphan is a brilliant Thriller about a mysterious little girl called Esther; a character that is bound to have a massive impact on you while watching! Its easily one of my favourite films, if not my all-time favourite.

After losing her third child through a bad pregnancy, Kate and John adopt Esther from an orphanage and she settles into her new home with their other two children Daniel and Max. Soon enough things start to go wrong and Esther always seems to be the one who is there when trouble occurs. Curious, Kate decides to dig deeper into Esther's past and discovers that Esther isn't all that she seems and that she is hiding a deep and dark secret, but Esther is always one step ahead and will make sure that she doesn't get discovered.

We must start with young Isaballe Fuhrman who has portrayed one of the most evil characters of all-time perfectly. This talented young actress surely has a bright future! Vera Farmiga plays Kate, the children's Mother, very well and really shines in the more violent scenes. Peter Sarsgaard also played the role of Kate's husband John well despite the character being so dumfounded to Esther's evil ways. Props must also go to young Aryana Engineer, who doesn't only play deaf character Max, but is deaf in real life also. She is very good in this film!

From start to finish this film will have you on the edge of your seat, especially once these hidden secrets start to get revealed! Orphan is easily one of my favourites of the genre, and now that I have seen it a second time I'm still in love with it. Esther will now join the ranks of many evil film characters as she is just that; pure evil! The film peaks at all the right moments and has everything to keep the viewer hooked and guessing right 'til the very end! The final scenes are also very intense!

Overall Orphan is outstanding and one I would highly reccomend to anyone! I had a feeling it would be good but never expected it to be this great and for me to have it as one of my all-time favourites.

The Island 2005,  PG-13)
The Island
I really enjoyed this action-packed film lead by Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. It's such a great concept and storyline that draws you in from the very beginning and takes you on a great journey. The cast is perfect for the film and the characters are very likeable. It's the mind-blowing action scenes that really take the cake though with some very cool special effects making a visually spectacular film. Overall The Island simply has it all and is a film I would highly reccomend!

Sorority Row 2009,  R)
Sorority Row
One of the better recent Horror films to come out lately with a creative idea full of plenty of Horror goodness. Plenty of impressive death scenes as well which always show up nicely in films like this. The only flaw might be some of the stupid decisions these girls make but its overshadowed by plenty of action. Its also one of those films thats just fun to watch and there is never a dull moment. Overall plenty of great Horror fun to be had here and slasher fans will get their kicks out of it :)

Paul 2011,  R)
Paul
I've always been quite the Pegg/Frost fan (especially Shaun of the Dead) and this one happens to be just as good and just as funny with plenty to laugh about! Its a great concept of two sci-fi nerds who try to help out a lost alien by the name of Paul. There are a number of jokes/puns relating to all things sci-fi as well which fans of the genre will enjoy. What's great is how likeable the characters are, especially Graeme, Clive and definitley the alien Paul, voiced by Seth Rogen. Loved it!

Blade 1998,  R)
Blade
An action-packed Horror film with plenty of kick-ass fight scenes to make it one very cool movie. Blade is one of the coolest movie characters around, and I also really liked Stephen Dorff's character Deacon Frost (and I rarely like villains in a movie). Great storyline and characters plus all the lead actors are great and work very well together. It's the start of an impressive trilogy, and the best of the three films. Overall a must-see for Horror fans, and one of my favourite vampire films!

Blade II 2002,  R)
Blade II
A very impressive sequel to the first Blade film that might not be as good but still more than enjoyable and a worthy addition to the Blade series. Both Blade and Whistler are back once again joined by a new group of characters that are unforntuatley not as likeable as the first film's heroes and villains. Storyline is great with the introduction of a new evil species worse than the vampire. Plenty of fight scenes to keep you amused, and overall Blade fans will be more than pleased :D

Blade: Trinity 2004,  R)
Blade: Trinity
A great way to end out a great trilogy. It's probably my least favourite of the three but its still a great film and it was probably the most entertaining of the three. Blade and Whistler are back of course but this time joined by plenty of new and very likeable characters like Abigail Whistler, Hannibal King, Danica & Drake. Another great storyline as well with plenty of great action scenes. Overall an impressive way to end out one of my all-time favourite trilogy's :)

Jingle All the Way 1996,  PG)
Jingle All the Way
One of my favourite Christmas movies with Arnie in one of his few funny roles as Howard, a Dad on a mission to get his son Jamie a Turbo Man doll. It pretty much sums up Christmas Eve madness down to a tee with some hilarious results and its the perfect film to watch in late December. Acting is good, Arnie is hilarious, and the storyline is very creative and clever. A little corny yes but nothing wrong with that. Overall it's a good comedy perfect for Christmas :)

Source Code 2011,  PG-13)
Source Code
A very intriguing and interesting Thriller that really draws you in from the moment it starts right 'til the very end. Jake Gyllenhaal is very impressive in what I feel has been his best role I've seen, and his likeable character really makes you feel for him in his situation. Its a 'whodunnit' type film so its fun guessing along the way, but it takes quite a dramatic twist which I never saw coming and leave your head spinning towards the end, but overall a fantastic film I'd highly reccomend.

Captain America: The First Avenger 2011,  PG-13)
Captain America: The First Avenger
This is a solid Action film with plenty of action and adventure to keep Marvel fans happy, and I really liked the retro feel being set back in the 1940's. Chris Evans is great as Steve, a weak small boy turned American hero. The villain Schmidt is pure evil and perfect for the film. It certainly got better as it went on for an explosive finish set up all ready for The Avengers in 2012. Overall a great film I would definitely recommend and any fans of the Marvel series will love it :)
