35 Rhums (35 Shots of Rum) 2008,  Unrated)
35 Rhums (35 Shots of Rum)
a story of father and daughter, living in a apartment complex and there close relationship living alone and there friends around them, a interesting story which while not to exiting at times does have some interesting moments of drama, and some warm performances to watch throughout
2
The Quiet 2005,  R)
The Quiet
2 well acted performances help this film along, camilla belle as dot the mute death girl, going to live with her godparents after the death of her fatrher, and elisha cuthbert as the bitchy daughter she has to put up with, while the she finds truths about the family, and also people finding possible truths about her, a interesting film with a goood story to hook you in
3
Aftershocks (Tangshan dadizhen) 2010,  Unrated)
Aftershocks (Tangshan dadizhen)
using events from the tangshan earthquake back in 1976, a mother must choose between her son and daughter, who are also twins, who are buried save one let the other die, a touch choice in a short time she chooses her son, but unknown to her the daughter survives, although officially dead to the mother, she grows up and lives her life, we cut back and fourth right up to present day, and how the lives have changed, a thoughtful drama, using a great earthquake sequence at beginning to set the mood, then setting into a well made drama on family loss and healing, a film with some scope to it and even a tear at the end
4
Love and Other Drugs 2010,  R)
Love and Other Drugs
ann hathaway and gyllenhall, work well together and although a predictable film in the sence, youll know where he is heading, it brings a lot between beginning and end, beginning of last third goes off a tiny tiny bit in a sence of a scene not working, but thats pretty much it for spoiling it, and for gyllenhall at least, it comes off like up in the air was for clooney, and hathaway, a good charactor with emotion to build on, sad moments to which was a suprise to me, helping film to conclusion
5
The Way Back 2010,  PG-13)
The Way Back
a story which spends almost all its running time showing people walking across barren landscapes dying of hunger and illness, and a pretty decent watch it is, it never dulls, and even though it could drag, it doesent, the film looks epic, covering a wide range of locations, the back story concerning a polish soldior being sent to prison when his country is invaded and his eventual escape with a group of men in similer situations is well handled and does give you sence of the time when people became outcasts due to second world war, all concerned bring on credible performances, sturgess especially, hes showing what a talent he is, peter weir directing for first time since master and commander deciding to take on another period wartime setting is a good choice, the film looks harsh, cold and the wilderness for what it is and a entertaining watch and a inportant one
6
Gulliver's Travels 2010,  PG)
Gulliver's Travels
a entertaining enough role for black, using his kind of comedy well, and use of him being big and them little working also, the 3d as with a lot of films recently totally unessessery, and a wate of time, which took my enjoyment away, the film does oviously go off the gullivers theme to acoimpany blacks humour and sometimes story gets to off it to fully enjoy but overall its a good enough watch
7
The Girl Next Door 2007,  R)
The Girl Next Door
this never looks anything above its made for tv look, if indeed it was, but the story and events depicted is a diferent story, not your daytime tv viewing, a auntie, torments one of her children, shes taken on with help from other children in family and local area, and the kid the girl befriendid looks on in horror, based on a true story the girl certainly goes through a ordeal, and a brave film at times
8
Jonah Hex 2010,  PG-13)
Jonah Hex
i enjoyed it, it wasent terrible by any means and the 80 minutes running time was a factor making it this way, it dident outstay its welcome, and although you can see troubles in the story and production, it was a very down looked upon film last year, there are entertaining moments to be had, brolin does bring something to his role, so its certainly not down to him, there are weak bad guys, but overall enjoyable not bad
9
Nomads 1986,  R)
Nomads
directed in a typical 80s way looking at it now, everything is in place, and a dr played by l;esley anne down, having a ocurence with a patient pierce brosnan, from there seeing into his life, up to when he died, this which becomes clear towards end, and the nomads a group he is fasinated by, the film works well, and story engageing, anne down who never capatalised on her career is good as is brosnan, a good watch
10
127 Hours 2010,  R)
127 Hours
Like the social network, with fincher, when i heard this was dany boyles next fim, especially winning best director oscar i rolled my eyes and like fincher i have to eat my words once more, he along with star falco have pulled something out of the bag, complementing each other, withouit one there isnt the other in this film, taking true events of a guy who gets trapped by a rock, and having to decide out of desperation to cut his own arm off. the film is a great exercise in one mans struggle, helped by a very briskful openinmg act showing the cocky attitude of the man and tell tale signs all will not end well, it then falls to the trapped scenes, exellently played out, all visual tricks pulled by boyle great music too, falco exellent also, great use of flashbacks, just glimpses of his life back home so never getting in way, but adding a lot, boyle gets visual aids to tell story everywhere, one in particular, his first getting more desperate by his thoughts about a juice left in his car, exellently played visually, and its stuff like this and of course falco that makes this a winner, emotional when it need to be, and musically and visually inpressive also when neeeds to be, all coming together beautyfully, a fantastic film showing how great danny boyle has, is and continue to be
11
The King's Speech 2010,  PG-13)
The King's Speech
Colin firth marvels here as the younger son, who was not next in line to the throne, and also conflicted with a terrible stammer, and with being a royal, and public speaking, not a good thing for him or in eyes of the people, here we see depicted his dealings with this stammer with help from a coach played by geoffrey rush, and his eventual unsuspected rise to the throne , the film plays very well, the look and setting exellently done, but its all down to the performances that will rise it above its status, firth who i never suspected of oscar buzz, but recently with a aerious man he certainly has left his buddy hugh grant by the roadside, he looks good for best actor oscar, and of course helen bonnem carter as the future queen mum doing wonders which is in a sence a supporting role, im not fussed on the royals, i dont really care., but films can show, what things they do have to put up with, and along with the queen this can show the troubles well, a very entertaining film, which also brought up how young i was compared to all the old age people in theatre, enjoyed
12
Catfish 2010,  PG-13)
Catfish
These are the times we live in as we all know, facebook is what it is, and anyone can be whoever they want to be, here we see some film makers taking a interest in one of there encounters online on facebook, a frienship blossoms with one of them and a women online, and all doesent seem right, its when they investigate, they confirm there suspicians. a fasinating acount of what can happen, and also a film that while judges the people on other end in question, once we see there side, even though its a bit twisted and wrong, it shows how some people can see facebook and a part of a online community as a life.
13
Le Dernier Combat (The Last Battle) (The Last Combat) 1983,  R)
Le Dernier Combat (The Last Battle) (The Last Combat)
Luc bessons first film, and certainly showing potential, and his future. a post apocalypse film set to no dialogue, the film works well to telling a story concerning a young man on a lookout for a mate, and getting involved with a old scierntist who may well hold answers. also in this is jean reno who became a besson regular, also good to watch here, the film looks fantastic, using old buildings and desserts well, and some scenes showing what can be done on a budget, a interesting watch and debut film
14
The Stoning of Soraya M. 2008,  R)
The Stoning of Soraya M.
Iran and how women are really treated by there men, showing the basterds they really are, and, thank god i live in a place where this isnt there judge and jury, shows them for what they are. a wife who will not allow her husband to leave is then by him acused and set up to be a bad example, and her punishment, to be stoned to death, a harrowing acount especially the stoning itself, its depressing to know countries live this way, although set in 86, im sure this is part of culture still, a eye opening film, which people should see,
15
L'Armée des ombres (Army in the Shadows) 1969,  Unrated)
L'Armée des ombres (Army in the Shadows)
A interesting acount of a group of french resistence fighters during occupied france ww2, the drama is on form, and story taking in a certain time in there struggle, where it mostly concerns captured comrades and there dealings with that, the film runs well, and even though its over 2 hours and slow paced, it runs along nicely
16
The Tournament 2009,  R)
The Tournament
A entertaining action, if often over the top clitched and silly, but it all comes together, some entertaining action, used to great effect, and also some gory violence helping it along, it has a fast pace and while stopping for breathers it knows when to get going.
17
Black Swan 2010,  R)
Black Swan
Natalie portman certainly is a great watch in this film, shes always been a great actress, from the very first time seeing the kid acting in leon, i knew this kid would go far, but there havent been many films where she can strech as a actress, here we see see her givew it all, a film that has been said to take off italian horror director, dario argento. and although i not seen to many i certainly noticed that. darren aranofsky again brings a film that could have failed miserably, but like the wrestler, he brings a subject and aproach andc runs with it, the first half sets it up well and bringing glimpses as to whats to come, and when her mind starts to go, it works perfectly, i also got a lot of groans from audience, im sure some, especially older folk, were actually expecting a sweet ballet picture, this certainly isnt that, and it certainly takes its inspiration, swan lake, the play they also are performing in this as a backdrop and run with it, a film i want to see again. definatly
18
The Green Hornet 2011,  PG-13)
The Green Hornet
Michael gondry brings a lot of visual style to the film, and certainly the 3d while as usual at times usless, there was more on show here than some films i can mention, seth rogen comes off better than expected i was worried a bit, but his slimmer self, a product for this film works, and christoph waltz who was of course amazing in inglorious basterds is good to a degree but could have been a lot more sinister, but for me the star of the show was jay chou as kato, who aparently is massive back home, here he brings a lot to kato and always watchable, the film has plenty of action, and the climax full on and works, the plot is muddled at times, but theres always a sence of fun and loads to cheer and get involved, so although no classic, a film that certainly could have been a lot worse
19
The Ward 2011,  R)
The Ward
John carpenter's first film since the bad ghosts of mars, and although this doesent bring him back to the days of his hayday, hes turned out a decent enough picture, it certainly comes across as nothing more than a tv movie, but its never dull or indeed gets to exitment level it is what it is, just decent enough to entertain
20
Neds 2010,  Unrated)
Neds
actor sometimes director directs a tale of 70s glasgow, and a young lad turning from a list student to thug and social outcast, its handeld terrificly at times, getting the times down greatly, and youth culture in a grimm enviroment, the non proffessional cast bring a lot esprcially the two lads portraying the main charactor, british and scottish youth has been portrayed beeter but this is by no means a critisism, this film does deserve a viewing, and in many ways, shane meadow's this is england, tackled a similer subject for a younger charactor, diferent circumstances and culture but also relevent,
21
The Next Three Days 2010,  PG-13)
The Next Three Days
N put off seeing this remake of the film anything for her, but decided to go see it anyway, and it turned out to be pretty engageing, all the points are there, the film is a tad longer so im sure things have been drawn out, and im sure its certainly that towards the end, but the film runs nicely, crowe who is basically in this throughout, entertainjs and shows charactor, and his desperation does come across at times. a interesting remake of a film im sure im sure stanmds up well
22
Tron Legacy 2010,  PG)
Tron Legacy
I was never a fan of the original 80s cult hit, but i do see where it stands in the game changer it was for computer effects in film, yes it looks terribly dated now, but it was what it was, here we get, todays latest technology, but its not doing the groundbreaking things the first did, its just sitting alongside films like avatar for attention, the film is entertaining and the story fits well, to continuing the charactors, the 3d is not great and should be avoided for this film if anything, as those in the know knows, 3d looses brightness, and trons look is a big part there, watch this only to see michael sheen pop up for a brief cxameo, channeling davidc bowie, he was a hightlight for me, so overall a eagerly awaited film, that is no classic, but no disaster either
23
The Life Before Her Eyes 2008,  R)
The Life Before Her Eyes
okay drams concerning a lady both in high school then her life 15 years later, showing a high school shooting, and her feelings 15years later, going backand fourth, showing story, urma thurmanplays later years and evan rachelwood in high school, good acting from both leads make it watchable
24
I'm Still Here 2010,  R)
I'm Still Here
A mockumentery which has now been established, but also a doc that was shot with the use of phoenix puting his carreer publicaly on the line during filmimg, he anounces his retirment from acting and going into hip hop, the entertainment industry laughed. the now famous david letterman interview was a result of this, and phoenix does come off a arse here but also if indeed acting more than just living a life, he is a interesting watch, the doc comes off well in portraying a actor whos doing well going off the boil, and a curious and interesting atempt, fair playb to phoenix for putting his image on the line. maybe its too soon to see if his caeer was harmed by his public persona during this, but hopefully execs and many others will watch this and see talent on show, also great to see casey affleck his brother in law getting involved, here directing, a film that shows what actor can acopmlish if hes willing to put his career on line a bit.
25
The Cake Eaters 2007,  R)
The Cake Eaters
A interesting and entertaining enough indie drama, with a pre kristin stewert twight, in one of the roles, here playing a kid with a disese, she comes off well as do others in the cast, theres some nice drama going on and a good enough watch
26
Mary and Max 2009,  Unrated)
Mary and Max
Delightfull animation, although not for young kids considering its themes and how story goes, but for everyone else a lot to get out of this film, it tells a story of a australian kid called mary, who at random picks a shut in from newyork Max, she starts to be pen friends with the man and through letters a friendship forms where gifts, mostly concerning chocolate are exchanged and strange interesting questions from the girl asked, but also bad times through some letters, over the years it grows, its delightful to watch, the story never dull or boring and the voicework from toni collette and phillip seymour hoffman add a great deal, as does barry humphries as narrator, the film balances dark with light and emotions with charactors well, the animation has a great look, and lots of imagination on show, a story with a message also.
27
Biutiful 2010,  R)
Biutiful
A slow moving drama but it certinly gets into its setting and the tale it wants to tell well, A story of a petty criminal played by bardem, who finds work for illrgal imigrents and looks out for there interests, but finding he has cancer, and not long to live, adding to this he has a gift, in which he can talk and see to the recently dead. whats interesting here is the fact that the story of his talking to dead gift isnt main focus, here it is his familys problems, and the job he is dealing with and new news of cancer, but the seeing and talking to dead, and weight it has, brings a lot to his emotions dealing with other stuff in his life. bardem certainly is a great watch here, displaying a lot, the film which is directed by 21 grams. babel director, innaritu is yet another depressing look at life and humen emotion, but he does it well and even well over two hour mark, never comes across dull or found getting inpatient, a well told story of grief, illness and crime in a depressed city, a curious and interesting watch
28
Blue Valentine 2010,  R)
Blue Valentine
A film portraying a couple meeting and falling in love, and years later a marriage falling apart with no love left to give, ryan gosling and michelle wilkliams work terrificly together, the story which cross cuts between the two time periods is well handled and really does well, the emotions these both are going through, and pretty ovious when credits roll which each person brought to there downfall, a drama full of touching moments, both sad and happy, a indie drama that does its job well, and certainly great to see gosling getting into his charactors details especially in later years, a emotional watch.
.
29
The Mechanic 2011,  R)
The Mechanic
the jason statham action run continues, and while he never hits heights unless hes acting with stallone, or cranking it up in crank(the first) they are enjoyable in there own right, and this film is entertaining enough, a proper b movie, with some nice touches, a remake of a 70s film, it does its job well enough and again shows statham has found something he can do sometimes well enough
30
Battle in Seattle 2007,  R)
Battle in Seattle
A retellling of events from seattle in 1999, when demonstrators, came down upon the world trade organisation and there standing on world trade. the peacefull protests took a turn for the worst, and brutal acts and rioting took place, this film with a little help of charactors in place creates events, it comes across well and certainly brings across what the whole stae was about, it doesent gel totally, thats but for most part a interesting watch
31
Invasion U.S.A. 1985,  R)
Invasion U.S.A.
A big slice of chuck norris cheese, its 2011 and now im getting around to seeing this. a typical dated now, 80s action, which sees a the u.s invaded, and its up to chuck to stop the group who are killing every american they can get hold off, its pretty decent in that 80s action way, and although chuck norris has about as much presence as a pancake, the films plot helps things along greatly, lots of mindless action and hoping for a matt damon remake soon
32
22 Bullets (L'immortel) 2010,  Unrated)
22 Bullets (L'immortel)
Jean reno in a interesting enough revenge crime flick, it looks fantastic, and theres enough mindless action and violence to keep it going, but also has going for it, interesting charactors which add a lot especially reno, who when in a right film can be very watchable. remember Leon, a classic, and shows what hes capable off
33
Vincere 2009,  Unrated)
Vincere
A film that is entertaining to a degree, enough to warrent a watch, and lets you know something about mussollini, seen through his son, and wife who were cast out of his life, she was inprisoned and she couldent prove she was his wife, at times it confuses, and sometimes dull, but enough good moments and history shown.
34
Inferno 1999,  R)
Inferno
Not seen enough Dario argento films to say where this fits in his cannon of films, ive seen suspiria a long time ago, which this is in a way a sequel too, and a film called teneraba, which wasent great, but this is pretty decent, and the director certainly has a style from what i see, a interesting watch and certainly warrants a look into more of his work, which i have overlooked
35
Sanctum 2011,  R)
Sanctum
James cameron on exec/producing duties did at least make sure there was his 3d technology warranted, as hes spoken out against its crap use, the film benefits at times and it works. the film itself is certainly exiting in parts and the concept interesting, unfortunatly the acting is quite bad, you would think cameron getting involved to a degree would warrant talent getting involved
36
The Fighter 2010,  R)
The Fighter
This might be warlbergs film, its certainly more his story than bales, but the story is most certainly about two brothers and one faded dream, the other a dream one wants and the faded hope, wanting it more fopr him, and its heree where this film goes up many levels, Bale is put simply amazing, hes up for best supporting actor at oscars, but certainly deserves best actor, a wonderful watch he commands the screen, getting into charactor fully, and not taking anything away from warlberg, he too a great watch also getting into role. story goes well and never dull, but again down fully to two leads commanding screen, a wonderful watch, that shows how fantastic acting can make or break a film.
37
Rabbit Hole 2010,  PG-13)
Rabbit Hole
A story of a couple coping with there loss of a child 8 months before, showing with great emotion a couple trying to deal best, when there not on the same wave lenth, eckhart and kidman, showing emotion well, the story goes to a interesting place and emotion always at forefront
38
Takers 2010,  PG-13)
Takers
when the film gets into gear its pretty decent, some good enteretaining action. matt dillionb is a typical burned out cop with a chance to shine, and at times film doesent know where to go, but the last half which involves the heist set in motioin and aftermath, comes across well
39
Sam hoi tsam yan (The Missing) 1980,  Unrated)
Sam hoi tsam yan (The Missing)
REVIEWING...SIL JONG AS THE MISSING...CANT FIND FILM ON FLIXSTER. A entertaining film which takes you places, a guy captures a woman and keeps her locked up, while sister tries tracking her down. it takes off from this point after first act, so a interesting and unpredictable watch in store, the film works for what its trying to do, and although the ending certainly baffled me(maybe i missed something) it certainly intrigued me
40
La Terza Madre (Mother of Tears: The Third Mother) 2007,  R)
La Terza Madre (Mother of Tears: The Third Mother)
Dario argento finally completed his mothers trilogy in 2007, ive seen suspiria, and inferno i recently saw, which was good but not brilliant, it certainly had that argento feel and look, Mother of tears, for me, not being able to remember suspiria, stands up really well, certainly next to inferno, it still has the english language, which i never fully understood, especially considering rome setting here and of course, italian charactors, but past that it works, its certainly gory too, with that argento touch. Asia argento is perfectly fine in the role, is she daughter of dario ?. the story captures a much larger scale than the ones before and works well, dario argento is nopt a director ive followed, in fact maybe only trhis trilogy ive seen, maybe more cant be sure, but need to see more
41
Charlie Valentine 2009,  R)
Charlie Valentine
A old school tough gangster, is forced out of town with his gang on his tail, he holds up with his son who is also living the criminal life but at a smaller level, but instead of warning him of the life he teaches him to rise the ranks, and with thius getting involved in the crimeworld there, a interesting portrayal of a father and son relationship, raymond j barry as charlie is exellent, really bringing out a old timer whos still got it, ive never really seen him as far as i know, although probely have, the film runs well, with violence and good drama throughout, a nice suprise, a film i knew nothing about and glad for the watch
42
True Grit 2010,  PG-13)
True Grit
The coens do there first proper western, even bthough they delved there before in diferent ways, No counbtry for old men being a pretty decent modern telling. they certainly bring a few coenisms to the table, there humour and some violence getting in there, check out 14 year old lead mattie negotiating debt with a horse owner, its classic coenbs, and heres our trump card, hailee ross as matilie ross, 14 years old playing a 14 year old, she is a find indeed, best supporrting actress ??, she deserves best actress, but shes a kid, so go figure. here she employs grizzly ranger rooister played by bridges, again exellent here, to track down killer of her father. and along forv the ride is laboeuf, played by matt damon, the film plays well, although plotting and pacing isnt top notch, that for me happens a lot in coen films, but it carries through, the film looks fantasatic, and some great moments, the coens say this is closer to the novel rather than joihn wayne adaption, and they certinly bring there touch
43
True Grit 1969,  G)
True Grit
A pretty good john wayne western, and the one he won his oscar for, he wasent a great actor, he just had screen presence, and you cant ignore his contribution to the western genre, so it was more for that, and ive just seen this within days of the the coens own take on ther novel, slight diferences, and certainly coens wins on mood, but this film is a product of its time, and i enjoyed it a lot, wayne is wayne, and thats always good enough,
44
Never Let Me Go 2010,  R)
Never Let Me Go
A film thats set in a alternative 1970s-late 90s, where the looks seem to have slowed down a tad bit, a very 50s looking 1970s and 80s. we see a school, where school kids are treated rather oddly, and also learn at there adult age, they will become donors for there organs, and this is what they have come to acept. the film raises a lot of interesting questions. one interesting one a plot device in film, is the case that these people have come to acept there fate, there commitment to it. or indeed there aceptence. we follow kathy, she looks back at her time at the school, with best friends tommy and ruth, inocent days, before love, and donations take over. the three leads, carey mulligan as kathy keira khightley as ruth and andrew garfielsd as tommy are superb here, mulligan getting the meaty role, but garfield again, after Boy a, and the social network, has a serious talent. the film is a great portrayal of friendship, love and time running out, what also is great, is the setting and how many things are not delved into, why this program is in place and why indeed they fully acept whats put upon them, but thats great, it makes you think at what you dont really know, also sad at times, again down to story taking us places and these actors, a film certainly bmaking you think, and what could be achieved if we thought a little diferently
45
Gnomeo and Juliet 2011,  G)
Gnomeo and Juliet
The film plays out well, and theres lots of little humour to amuse adults, the look is nostalgic especially to us brits, and although its romeo and juliet, oviously it wont go that way, but it never takes anything away, theres enough set pieces to exite, and voice work from james mcavoy, emily blunt, and especially jason statham doing good, a pretty good watch
46
Exit Through The Gift Shop 2010,  R)
Exit Through The Gift Shop
Coming same year as catfish, which was considered fake, and im still here, which oviously was fake. this tells a story of a man who decides to document various street graffity artists, hanging out with them and with no intention of using footage to make doc, its when he meets bansky a underground cutting edge artist, that his doc is found not to be, its here where the man becomes the subject himself, where he becomes a artist himself, going on camera giving his every thought, a revcealing doc, which is entertaining genuin or not, it gives a good insight into the people who do this for there art and also the man who started this documenting.
47
Little Big Soldier (Da bing xiao jiang) 2010,  PG-13)
Little Big Soldier (Da bing xiao jiang)
A soldier play by chan kidnapps a general after a bloody battle and are on the run, along the way they connect in a way, not original in any way, but chan brings a lot to the film along with his style of fighting at times, and being in his native tounge comes across well unlike in american films at times, some good moments and it looks great, not a brilliant film, but far from dull
48
The Orgasm Diaries (Brilliantlove) 2010,  Unrated)
The Orgasm Diaries (Brilliantlove)
A interesting enough tale of two young lovers who enjoy there wild lifestyle full of sex and friendship, living in a garage, but its when photos of there sex and poses, castch the eye of a local guy that interups there commitment to each other and takes tragic turns for both in there time apart. the two leads are interesting and good enough, and put it all out there, but at times the film fails to grab you as it should, although that said, moments to be had
49
The Rebound 2009,  R)
The Rebound
The crappy title aside, this is pretty decent, a romantic comedy, that isnt like most, it falls into some traps but overall, it keeps its distancethe two leads likeable, and a open ending, which i guess is ovious to its outcome is decent enough.
50
Jackboots on Whitehall 2010,  Unrated)
Jackboots on Whitehall
A alternative look at world war 2, using dolls in sets to tell the story, here the nazis invade and conquer england, churchill and survivers make there way to scot land, a alternative scotland, where they are still savages, and they must defeat the nazis. there are some good moments, dolls and settings are not fully sucessful , but also part of its charm, it has some good humour poking fun not only at the nazis but british things as well, and mel gibson, via braveheart gets a good ribbing also, and so indeed does ewen mcgregor, who voices main charactor, getting reminded he is in fact scottish. not a film that hits its mark but when it does it raises a smile
51
Bunny Lake Is Missing 1965,  Unrated)
Bunny Lake Is Missing
Pretty entertaining british film from the 60s concerning a american wo,man in london enrolling her daughter in a school, then when time to pick up, no acount of her, her motives along with her brother and also her sanity are brought into question by the police, as the investigation grows, it gets more desperate with evidence mounting on both sides questioning everyone in question, and although the third act reveal isnt a revelation, and turns the style of film into more of a thriller with the bad guy letting it all out, the film plays well, and it works with first half, and it rolls along nicely, its never dull, and while acting isnt top notch it never deters from film and a satisfying conclusion to it all
52

Rooster Cogburn 1975,  PG)
Rooster Cogburn
A sequel to the pretty good true grit, again starring john wayne, its no true grit, but it does have the presence of wayne, who while by no means the best actor of his or any generation, always fun to watch, and doing his rooster turn once more brings something to film, and the film also beringing the formula back in the presence of a women tagging along with him, a good watch but by no means true grit

Juliet binoche turns up at a book presentation with its writer, and through her aparent charms with his assistent gets to spend day with him, discussing his latest book, which he loves and hates, as they travel the italian countryside conversations come out which suggests to us the viewer all is not what it seems, and as there discussions on art increases so does a aparent relatioinship between them, a film that runs well, although very open ended which may or may not explain events gone before, juliet binoche is a entertaining watch she is a good actress when given material.

a documentery filmed with a squad of amercan soldiers, in afghanistan and in particular the base restrepo they set up, a name in honour of a dead commrade killed on same mission, the film captures well the highs and lowes of warfare, the firefights which were many in this instance of there mission, and there time inbetween, we get to know the men well, not only in footage filmed but interviews with many of them put in throughout the doc, a doc that does well in what it wants to do.

Winter in Wartime
A look at a young lad during ocupation by the nazis in holland during ww2 and his conflicts when he gets involved with a stranded english pilot, adding to this the involvment of family members in the dutch resistence and them not wanting him to get involved. a well told story, which the story is always interesting, and a well told story of a young mans turmoil during world war 2

The Circle (Dayereh) 2000,  R)
The Circle (Dayereh)
This film is very daring coming from the country it was made, so much so it was banned there, a simple story of various women trying to escape there lives in a country where women really dont have rights, and this film was made by a man himself, so its interesting how the charactors get there say. although at times its a little dull in places, and to westerners and people in countries where women dont have this put upon them, it might not seem much of a film, but it is very relevent there and should be seen in that respect, so dont let the structure of story and story take any thing away.

Animal Kingdom 2010,  R)
Animal Kingdom
A film that tells a tale of a family of criminals, and using the backdrop of the local robbery division going beyond there given methods to deal with crooks, but stepping away from that as main focus and concentrating mainly on the family, a film that certainly could delve deeper certainly on the cops viewpoint, but takes nothing away from film in hand, all performances are on top form, and some uncomfortable moments of unsuspected violence, the film has a raw energy towards it, and the story takes us places. many faces pop up who are unknown but if youve seen enough aussie cinema they will seem familier, and guy pierce doing a great turn as a detective who isnt one of the bad ones. a great showcase continuing the australian filmmaking tradition

Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson 1976,  R)
Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson
Another robert altman gem from the 70s, and a enjoyable grumpy role from newman. here focusing on buffalo bill now the main attraction at a wild west show, and the arrival of sitting bull another legend, coming to the show. a western that isnt like your typical western, here just concentrating on the going ons at this attraction and the friction sitting bulls arrival brings. enjoyable and certainly altman fans will get more out of it than most.

Am zin (Running Out of Time) (Hidden War)
Entertaining film, with a interesting concept and to a degree comes off well, it doesent fully and there are some minor problems, but when it his the mark it entertains. a film concerning two people on oposit sides of the law coming together in unconventional ways to settle a score and put down a bad guy together.

Politist, adj. (Police, Adjective) 2009,  Unrated)
Politist, adj. (Police, Adjective)
A odd but compelling polish film. a detective is in the middle of his latest case, the dealing of pot between some youths. but this is no hollywood version of a detective closing in on his criminals, this pretty much shows how such a case would be, lots of following suspects, going home to his wife, back in to work follow some more suspects, and look over paperwork, add to this his distaste of the case as he doesent believe these young kids should be punishe. you have a very entertaining detective story, very slow paced and drawn out, but all the better for it, it certainly gets to the heart and indeed boredome and bureocracy of police work. and if thats not all, a final scene that involves reading from a dictionery, which compells, more police drama should do this sort of thing
63
The Adjustment Bureau 2011,  PG-13)
The Adjustment Bureau
A phillip k dick novel that questions our movements in life, and our fate, and here two charactors, a up and coming politician, who meets a woman played by emily blunt, they strike up something, she leaves, but then some shady men in hats, are determined not to have them meet again, are they angels, are they angels, are they something else ?, this is the interesting thing at the heart of this story. so as it is, through a muck up, the two do meet again. and it all comes to matt to question his life and desisions in life. a well made film, which i must admit does unintentionally come off silly at times, but its all rather entertaining. and with two charactors, you care about, who on top of that might not be able to be together. it raises a lot of questions, in both faith and the more shady things in todays society, and for me came together well
64
Unknown 2011,  PG-13)
Unknown
Not as silly as taken, but neeson does come off as dull through most of it, shouting a lot at people, mad at them for not believing him, but once you get use to neeson and his ways, its pretty enjoyable stuff. some entertaining moments, some nifty action sequences, and a great european setting, it shifts a bit towards the last third but in a good way, so theres always something to see in this

Drive Angry 2011,  R)
Drive Angry
Nicholas cage breaks out of hell, to take back his daughters kid, that a cult has taken intending to sacrifice, and on his tail is the acountant coming to bring him back. there are some enteretaining moments throughout this, Cage is watchable as can be these days, some nice touches to keep it going, the 3d while sucessful in parts isnt really needed, and violent action, it slows at times, but always gets back on its feet

Paul 2011,  R)
Paul
some great things make this work, firstly pegg and frost, although withouit director edgar wright show, they can go it on there own, here both writting the script, the setting and references are spot on at times and taking in a loving knowledge of sci fi, spielberg to x files in its homages. the close encounters one is a fantastic moment. Paul himself, here a cgi charactor in the film throughout is fantastic, seth rogans voice fitting really well with his animation, going hand in hand. and one thing i really picked up on which i fully apreciated, was the religious aspect, oviously christians not wanting or believing aliens to exist, pegg and frost dont let this go, with digs throughout. and that was great. it as we know would be devastation to the faith if humens were not the centre of the universe, something i definatly dont believe in. the film works well when everything comes together. and jokes and fun to be had, the likeable threesome add so much and it is a joy.
67
Rango 2011,  PG)
Rango
Most definatly inspired by spagetti westerns and more specifically the man with no name himself clint eastwood, although depps rango certainly not playing his toughness here untill it counts, the film beautyfully recreates the myths of a western and transports it to creatures living in this enviroment. it looks stunning, and full of humour adults can fully get and kick back and have a good laugh, maybe the kids will miss the points and in a way get bored theres enough to entertain everyone. when it kicks up the pace, theres terrific set poieces, keeping the action and sence of fun, and rango as a creation, works well, as do many of the others on show. a great moment where rango meets someone who inspired all this is a welciome addition also. depp certainly brings enough to his voice to add a lot. and the film overall plays well in every respect.

Patagonia 2010,  Unrated)
Patagonia
Patagonia is the place in argentina, where in the 1800s a few hundred welshmen from turbulent times in wales made the journey to live a life that suited there needs. to speak welsh freely(the english outlawed it through the ages) and keep customs alive. here we see, in present day, two storys, one of a argentinian woman, making pilgrimage to wales with a companion in tow, to see for the last time, where her welsh mother was born and raised. and in the other story, a young welsh couple going to patagonia where one is going to take photos of welsh churches, the film celebrates to great sucess wales and its heritage but with two strong stories at forefront. both rely on the passion of welsh upbringing in both the welsh segment and in patagonia argentina, both are strong. a well acted drama from marc evans a director i admire.

Woodstock - 3 Days of Peace & Music 1970,  R)
Woodstock - 3 Days of Peace & Music
Recorded at the historic woodstock music festival, this brings some captivating live performances. but beyond these, a great insight into the festival itself, from the organisers, saying finanially this will be a massive loss for the organisers, the crowds, in all there states and highs. and people from around the town itself, both for and against the festival taking place, the doc really captures well, a event in the making a event that would bercome historic in the music world and beyond. no talking heads here, just great visuals, live performances and genuin comments from people who are there in the moment. a must see for music fans

Assassin Next Door 2010,  R)
Assassin Next Door
Olga kurylenko is good enough in her role and certainly makes it more enjoyable, showing both emotion and a action side which shes done before, the film about a female assassin making friendship with a checkout girl who lives next door, doesent fully take me in, and at times a bit dull, but it does get vback on track and its a enjoyable enough film to watch
71
The Resident 2011,  R)
The Resident
A not very interesting set up, and a crappy typical last act, but the middle when everything comes into place and the film gets to do what it wants to do, is entertaining and lots of good moments to be had, it keeps you in the film, and makes it a lot better than it could have been, good to see christopher lee popping up in this film which is hammer produced, he of course one of the faces of hammer
72
Fair Game 2010,  PG-13)
Fair Game
A fasinating acount showing the events and certain circumstances, surrounding the white house desision, to go to war after the events of 911, and more specifivcaly weapons of mass destruction, and the lies that came into play, from the viewpoint of a couple, watts as a cia agent, and her husband played by sean penn, his opinion on a case he did for cia, confirming in his mind how a sale of nuclear components wasntb possible, and after the events of going to war, him speaking out, and being shown here, watts cia proffession coming out in open, and her being a agent in need of identity being kept secvret, this is not a good thing, adding to this the couple coming under scrutiny as she was somehow involved in bher husbands employment on case. all this comes together very well, and this being a case that happend, even more so. certainly filling in gaps for me concerning the lack of wmd's scandal, and the eventual public knowledge. the film sails along nicely with watts and penn doing great, the film also bringing across well the corrupt goverment especially whitehouse key staff. a wonderful political film
73
Battle: Los Angeles 2011,  PG-13)
Battle: Los Angeles
A pretty entertaining alien invasion film, seen through the viewpooint of soldiers on the frontline brought in to the battleground of santa monica, a fresh look at alien invasion for sure. the action scenes take you into it likje you are watching saving private ryan or more specifically, black hawk down, it does draw you in when the action gets going, what brings it down at times is the beats inbetween, the charactors are typical movie soldiers in there emotions and conflicts, and the speeches do come full on, but through it all, the action is superb when it gets to it, and there is a lot of it. the aliens, work well and even though its aliens its never unbelievable that aliens would get a bit stuck fighting these soldiers even though they oviously are winning battle, its well represented. a pretty decent, and i also liked skyline from last year, which i hear controversary when these two are mentioned in same breath. you could even say, the events of skyline set in that tower block could pararrel events here. so overall pretty decent
74
The Company Men 2010,  R)
The Company Men
Along with wall street 2 and to a degree up in the air another film inspired by the financial meltdown, here concerning a company that feels the pinch and is laying off workers, one of these is played by ben afleck and we see his atempts at going back on the job market while, his family watches along. also tommy lee jones who is very high in the same company, feeling dealings with things are wrong. and chris cooper his friend who seems to be hit the most. all comes together well, the three stories which connect to each other at times work well. the film also has a good support turn for costner now looking his age, but working for him well, as a builder who in some way will inspire afleck. the film gives a good and interesting presective of the time, and also, the types of high profile people affected, and of course the diferences, and again, when layoffs are everywhere. how companys seem to still be spending. a well made film with a interesting concept, and even though to a degree the charactors are big money men, at the end of the day the film shows them as human. a good watch
75
The Dead Zone 1983,  R)
The Dead Zone
entertaining steven king adaption, walkin a good watch as a guy getting into a accident, waking up 5 years later with psychic powers, its not entirely sucessful and sometimes doesent go anywhere, but as a look at a guy battling with new abilities its intersting stuff, and does get going a bit during second half when martain sheen turns up as a future president.

GasLand 2010,  Unrated)
GasLand
A look at the effect of natural gas drilling seems to be having on many parts of the u.s.a. a guy shocked at what he was experiencing himself made this doc, where he travels to other parts of the country to see the full effect, and the major problem it seems is the water and especially the water people are having in the homes. theres some shocking truths in the doc, and the struggles many residents have put upon. its going on and its getting bigger. the film is most definatly a warning on how this could very well be the future to everyone.
77
Innocence 2004,  R)
Innocence
Some reviews ive read have mentioned, the perverted way the kids were portrayed in this film, and although i believe that is the story aspect in pl;ay, there ceretainly something could be said on filmimg aspect. the film follows a group of youing girls who seem to live at this isolated estate being taught and conditioned in some way. when girls seem to go or esacpe in some way. they end up dead. the adults there are certainly up to something more than you see on screen. its a interesting film in sence that theres more bubbling under service. and even though no clear outcome, it makes you think and question, even your own viewing of the film, its by no means graphic or violent in any way, but certainly is telling a lot.
78
Ikigami, (Ikigami: The Ultimate Limit) 2008,  PG)
Ikigami, (Ikigami: The Ultimate Limit)
The concept here is intrigueing, and while its no action adventure, sci fi element going on here, but a drama full of emotion, taking a law put into place in a contemperary japan, where a percentage of young people will die for there couintry only knowing 24 hours in advance by way of a death notice, we glimpse 3 stories by way of the death notice, representitive, himself not really liking what he sees, and tends to get involved with the cases. theres some touching moments here, and the fictionus law put in place here, is a interesting one especially when some of the ouitcomes promote good will and good outcomes. but oviously a bad law to begin with, a interesting film, just dont expect minority report or anything of that sort.
79
The Illusionist (L'illusionniste) 2010,  PG)
The Illusionist (L'illusionniste)
A charming old fashioned animation, a french magician makes his way to london then from there to edinburgh playing to small crowds, and along the way, a frienship he makes with a young house maid, who he takes on the journey, wordless throught, with minor mumbles for words, it comes off great. the two main charactors are great too, him trying to impress his new friend, and her possibly taking him for granted. whilst in edinburgh, the city itself beconmes a charactor and it works well, story runs well, and even becomes sad towards its conclusion, but with also many heartwarming moments throughout
80
An American Carol 2008,  PG-13)
An American Carol
the uk title of this was Another big fat important movie, so maybe its another entry along with awful spoofs, epic movie, disaster movie, superhero movie and other disasters, but this turns out pretty decent, this not being aimed at teens and packing as many relevent current movies as possible, but focusing on michael moore throughout. and it comes off well, in fact the only times it doesent hit marks is when typical spoof jokes come into play. here we see a moorelike charactor getting shit on throughout for his doc, and his stance on trouncing america. its a very pro-america film, and belittles moore in every way, and even though i love moores films, and to a big degree i think he has valid points in certain things. he does know how to spin things through crafty editing and leaving stuff out, and this film certainly gets moore where it hurts. a decent suprise
81
Submarine 2011,  R)
Submarine
A charming coming of age tale set in wales seemingly in the late 80s. craig roberts is fantastic as oliver tate. a 15 year old who is ahead of himself in many ways and some not for the good. some could say a british rushmore, a film that i love to bits. this is a bit darker, and like max in rushmore oliver a charactor who could annoy you quite quickly in real life, bujt for the movie a wonderful misguided charactor. the south wales valleys adds a lot to the setting and indeed his joiurney, and if i did have a quibble about anything in this, its actually paddy considine and his charactor, it didnt work at times and i felt if film fully concentrated on olivers new found love and his parents marital problems, this film would be even better. just sideline him a bit, although he isnt anything major in itself here. that said great support all around, yasmin paige as his new love interest, a charactor with many problems herself is great and like craig roberts i expect to see great things, and noah taylor and sally hawkings as his parents are terrific. great soundtrack also, and many tunes from arctic monkeys frontman alex turner adding a great deal. a interesting and enjoyable watch

The Lincoln Lawyer 2011,  R)
The Lincoln Lawyer
a legal drama thriller for our star here, and towards the end its suprising how it does come together in a He had it all together kind of way, it moves along at a good pace, and never really dulls. and worth admission price along for seeing one of my favs william h macy waving a flowing lock of hair.

You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger 2010,  R)
You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger
The latest woody allen, and yet another set in london, it comes of pretty decent, by no means a classic or indeed best of his london stuff, that honour goes to matchpoint, but a good cast do good work. naoni watts playing english comes off the best here, while playing her husband josh brolin, also handles himself well, they are the best here, and backing up is a interesting watch from anthony hopkins, finally doing a allen film, rouinding it up a asortment of brit support and it comes together good. one plot device really doesnt make sence towards end, but apart from that, woody is still in the game
84
Taking Woodstock 2009,  R)
Taking Woodstock
Woodstock told from the viewpoint of the jewish family, specifically the son, who got the festival the goahead by inviting the organisers in, getting the locals on there side and local business's some much needed business. after seeing the woodstock documentery from 1970 i was eager to catch this after missing it in theatres and on dvd. and it does well capturing the mood and chaoes around the town at the time. its a well told story of a young man coming home after living it up in newyork and taking on this task. a entertaining nostalgic look, and a final conversation thats although giving woodstock a happy ending, not gettogethers of this kind in general, and more specifically a certain rolling stones concert you might have heard about, a entertaining effort from ang lee

Leap Year 2011,  Unrated)
Leap Year
i believe its monica del carmen who is the woman starring in this, and its a brave role for her, and a interesting film overall, set inside her apartment, set in mexico, we see her spending away her days whilst bringing men back there, a ocasional visit from her brother helps her along, and all the while counting down to feb 29 which of course is a leap year, on her calender. the film is a interesting study of a woman, some explicit scenbes of sex and nudity, and a pretty honest film overall

The Arbor 2011,  Unrated)
The Arbor
interestinly told story, based on a book written in the 80s by a young woman growing up on a tough estate in the u.k, told through reinactments, and also real life people of the time and having they're voices taken and put in mouth of actors restageing key events, it comes off well in parts and sometimes it looses you a bit, but stick with it, its a interesting watch about poor familys during the 80s in the u.k

No One Killed Jessica 2010,  Unrated)
No One Killed Jessica
a film based on true events in india towards the end of the 90s, and how it brought about change in the corrupt justice system they had in place there. a young woman getting shot for a simple reason and the injustice of her case, when almost all witnesses got bought off and guilty man went free. a film that is interesting and shows a part of indias history about corruption. this obviously goes on everywhere to some degree, more than others, so a universal story
88
The Loved Ones 2009,  Unrated)
The Loved Ones
A pretty decent teen horror, and at times gory too, a young lad rejected by a girl is captured by herself and her father, and torture him, but wiyh possibly something more terrifying waiting in basement. the australian setting gives it a edge, and although this seems american through and throuigh, it certainly gives it a push. it does go off a little towards end, but enough torture gore to keep fans amused and the film is shot well, and with its indie feel worth a watch.
89
The Virginity Hit 2010,  R)
The Virginity Hit
Starting out like it could be a documentary on youths looking to lose there virginity, it sticks with the formula but obvious its a fictional tale. it works well and it is full of energy, one guys atempt to loose his after his girlfriend of two years has cheated on him, there are some nice touches and even one or two laugh out loud moments, it also does have dull ones as well, but overall it is worth a watch for certain things.
90
Limitless 2011,  PG-13)
Limitless
Finally a lead for cooper worth mentioning (a team and the hangover dont count as he isnt fully the lead.) a film that when watching it you realise its a pretty decent atempt at a drug adiction film. cooper gets his hand on a supply of new tablets that enamles him to acess 100% of his brain. but with that comes the consequences of not only the effects but people wanting a piece. its all handled well. some great directing and viusual desisions and voiceover helping it out greatly. cooper showing hes a great lead. and de niro showing what a great supporting actor he can be. the film come its final credits and last scenes also shows where this story could gon further and indeed the new depths his charactor could head. a entertaining film with messages throughout.
91
The Eagle 2011,  PG-13)
The Eagle
entertaing and bloody, certainly for its 12a rating here in the u.k. and a story well handled. the two leads are watchable. and theres always something to entertain. the film tackles well the roman condition in the britain of old. and chalenges there.
92
A Day of Violence 2008,  Unrated)
A Day of Violence
One of those british crime films, shot very cheaply but trying to punch above its weight, and to a degree its enjoyable, yes the acting is suspect at times and dubbing not great at times, but it has ideas, and the violence is hard hitting so not bad for someone going out to make a low budget effort, certainly a calling card, the story tipical and nothing special, but certainly things to admire.
93
The Human Centipede (First Sequence) 2009,  R)
The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
This certainly is a interesting atempt at a horror, very much something david cronenberg could and indeed should have done. and also due to circumstances falling on the 3 individuals now one, makes you think. one thing i thought about and got answer was. yes i would definatly if any of them be up front, he certinly was the one who got off best, and the middle one, enough said. you could also say, to a degree the build up was the most interesting, and i did think, once we see the result, where can we go from here, but the circumstances are used well, and outcome and happenings throughout coming off well, its certainly more squeemish the more you think at the time, and it plays on this. a interesting film i certainly dident expect anything from

The Langoliers 1995,  PG-13)
The Langoliers
A 1990s mini series of a stephen king novel. looking really early 90s dated now. and some suspect acting throughout. the story is interesting enough and does sustain its running time, although no visual flare whatsoever to speak of doesent help, and some really crappy effects along the way, and i really mean crappy, check out the take off scene. and its funny now going back to the days of tv movies being shot in 4.3. but thats the sign of those days not film itself. overall a typical king film, with flaws throughout. onec final thing, check out the end shot, a typical freeze frame you had back in the 80s and 90s, its so funny and out of place

Samson and Delilah
A interesting story going on about two young people growing up in a small community in australia, their unlikely friendship and eventuall travels, which dont end greatly for them, at times there is a lot to admire, and it comes off well, aslthough sometimes you just want to smack the two. a interesting film worthy of a watch.
97
Chungking Express 1994,  PG-13)
Chungking Express
A interesting tale of lonelyness, 2 stories told, two involving cops who are at a point of lonelyness, the first showing a guys atempts not to stay single and giving him a 30 day task to fall in love, we see a night on the job where this happens, and the 2nd story which takes bulk of time and mucxh more draws you in concerning a cop on the beat, striking a friendship up with a takeaway service girl. while at same time getting dumped through a letter which has been left at the takeaway for them to pass on, the two unlikely people striking friendship and possible love here, is well handled. both great to watch, and entertaining showing their little ticks unbeknown to the other. the film looks and feels great. and a entertaining watch from the mid 90s and of course a film championed at the time by tarentino riding high on pulp fiction sucess.
98
Stone 2010,  R)
Stone
while not a fantastic film considering the teaming of de niro and norton, it certainly isnt bad and is enjoyable, and showed what de niro still can be when the right material crosses his desk. norton who supports here also gives some weight to the film, and while overall the outcome is to a degree is unsatisfactory, its a interesting drama about a guy on the verge of retirment coming at a crossroads, de niro gives it a lot.
99
Triage 2009,  R)
Triage
A good role for colin farrell, the film deals well with a photo jouirnalists conflicts not just during wartime but back home where the bulk of this story takes place, missing his partner and friend coming home, friends want to get to bottom of what went on there. a enjoyable film, feels very tv movie which it might well be, but that doesent distract as stoey is well tod and styrong at times

City Island
A good role for garcia, and overall a interesting story about him and his family, his son coming into his life for the first time, and his passion coming through for acting which he has been keeping from his wife whom he feels just wouldent understand, it all comes together very interestingly. yes its sentimental at times but also some good natured humour pulling it along and little observations here and there.

Paprika
A wonderful anime, a breakthrough in dream sharing, and what happens when not only therer are flaws in the system, but when that machine is stolen, one of the scientists whos alter ego while in dreamstate is paprika, along with her team must put things right, as the dreams begin sharing within everyone else and ccan be really bad for them all, a film that had a great look and also some trippy out dream sequences that fully entertain and at times come off really sinister in that anime way, the film comes off wonderfully at times, and at this time watching this after the wonderful inception, it would be wonderful to see this tackled for big screen live action treatment, the visuals coming off here, would be a great chalenge. it actually came off terry gilliam at times, a really entertaining watch.

At its core a film about forbidden love, a young peasent women who is on her way to marrying the king of koreas son, in order to strenthen the royal family. and a young man who at the start saves her life, and cant let his feelings go for her, he makes his way to the palace where through courage and honour, becomes a guard, through this war with japan and corruption within looming, it all comes together greatly, some nice touches in the cfighting scenes, but the film never forgets why its here. the story of the two. a well made film

Breakfast at Tiffany's
Finally seeing this in 2011, although audrey hepburn is really enthusiastic and perky throughout, it is a little bit harder edged than people would think, although saying that certainly a feelgood film also. the relationship between two tenants also played by george peppard, and a relationship thay may, could not happen, it works well, and both enjoyable to watch, the film coming out at the start of the sixties certainly captures that time, and filmmaking look of the time. some good music throughout too, especially the use of moon river.

The Blackout 2009,  Unrated)
The Blackout
aliens invade L.A, here knocking out anything electrical, and a appartment block under seige with aliens invading it. a very low budget direct to dvd effort which comes off well at time, the aliens themselves are crap, but the limited budget gets good effect, also some bad acting on show also, but there is always something to keep it going, it certainly is one of the better dvd efforts we get to see, so in a way this is the lower budget of skyline(although a bit diferent in aproach) and comes off well, if not brilliant

Source Code 2011,  PG-13)
Source Code
Duncan jones follows his debut Moon, with another slice of sci fi, although no classic like moon, it uses its premise well, a soldior being transported into a body of a guy for last eight minutes of his life, not to stop a bomb on a train, but to gather evidence to foil a later one. revealing truths and plot developmernts come throughout, and it helps it along. sometimes, like any film using real time, the 8 mins seem longer or indeed shorter, but it doesnt get in the way, some great moments rise through concept, and gyllenhal, is suited here. even a few moral questions can be raised and talked about at the end, a interesting and well made 2nd effort from duncan jones

Tomorrow, When the War Began 2012,  R)
Tomorrow, When the War Began
this comes off all red dawn but australians, although this is based on a series of books, and when this film ends it certainly sets up more to come. it does come off well, some good action beats throuighout. the nameless invaders attacking the kid's small town, and the country of australia in general. here the group of young inocents must decide wether to fight or hide, obviously they decide to fight. the film does go off sometimes but not for long, and some, although not all are memorable, and at least on this basis of a film ive seen here, i certainly will be watching more

Sucker Punch 2011,  PG-13)
Sucker Punch
sometimes it doesent make total sence, taking place at a home for young offenders, and emily browning as babydoll, reaching into her imagination when she needs to esacape the place, this is the part that doesent really make sence as it has no bearing on the real events taking place, it seems just a excuse for great set pieces and visuals, and to be fair the in her mind set pieces are really decent, full of energy and flare, so for that its no great loss or disaster, a great score also helkping things along a geat deal.

Killing Bono 2011,  R)
Killing Bono
For the most part, this works a tale of a really unlikeable guy as he comes off here, forming a band around the same time as U2, and U2 wanting his brother to join, he refuses and doesent tell brother, u2 become massive, so he needs to get his band to that stage, there are parts that work greatly, the u2 stuff fun and indeed the other bands frustration trying to make sucess likje there schoolmates. it gets weighed down towards the end, where it lost me a bit, but there is more than enough throughout to entertain
112
Wake Wood 2009,  R)
Wake Wood
a decent horror very much influenced by films like the wicker man and more recent british horror abouit disturbed kids called the children. it has at its heart a interesting premise. and uses it to a degree well, there are some interesting moments of gore when needed, and it does have a feel throughout.

Rubber 2010,  R)
Rubber
if your a horrror fan and more inportantly a film fan and like in jokes you will get a lot more out of it, as in a way its commentating on the very film you are watching, and that i got a kick oiut of, once i understood where it was going, the tyre itself is a interesting device to use as it helps that potion along. for horror fans in general or more inportantly just someone wanting a quick fix, they might miss a lot of whats actually going on, but always a great exploding head to watch. and a great set up for a sequel, where hollywoood could be taken on literally

a interesting at times film, following a young brazillian taking on a job to deliver a pakage to portugal, getting payed so he can make his way to spain, but due to events not turning out the way its erxpoected. he meets a girl, whos also involved in the deal. a great look to the film, music and performances adding someting to overall story.

Two in the Wave (Deux de la Vague) 2010,  Unrated)
Two in the Wave (Deux de la Vague)
Francois truffaut, and Jaean-luc godard, were the pioneers in the french new wave movement, not only 2 people sharing a love of movies, but great friends from a young age, they worked together, on various projects while influencing each other in many ways, truffauts 400 blows, making ways and in turn having the chance to get godard his start as well, this doc shows in unconventional ways their friendship, and working methods and of course french and world cinema in general, but also their friendship ended bitterly with politics and filmmaking coming to heads and one person going one way, the other not changing paths, we see all this, and it comes together well, a interesting telling of film history, and finally how two greats can simply have dividing opinions. i like both filmmakers films, although not seen all. and it certainly sparked my interest again in discovering more of there work.

L'Enfant (The Child)
A interesting acount of a guy whos a new recent father, him and his girlfriend are not in a good position in life and hes a petty criminal trying to make money any way posable, its when he tries to sell the baby without her knowledge that she wants him out, and hes at desperate times, a french drama, and a dreary look at a couple, and a father whos a bit stupid in his ways, you could also say the title refers to the guy in question, Jeremy renier is a interesting watch as he goes about his day, not only trying to make things right with his girlfriend but other things hes got involved with. a a watchable drama worth a view
117
Sex Is Comedy 2002,  R)
Sex Is Comedy
Not a comedy as such, but a interesting story and indeed study, of a writer/director, trying to get a scene she imagined right. the scene in question, a romantic scene between two people. but as we join the crew on this story all is not well, the director feels the two leads cast just dont have it, problems possibly personal, with male lead especially making some way into things. we watch as the set is left to stand around as filming stalls, and, retooling scene begins. its quite fasinating to watch at times, especially when nudity is brought into question, and actors doubts. the film deals well with behind the scenes going ons, its ups and downs. the leads all superb, bringing each their own. and film although stopping and starting due to the concept of a scene trying to get right, runs nicely. a interesting watch.

Out Of The Ashes
after all the wartorn docs and soldior points of view docs and films coming out, it is refreshing to see a documentery of ordinary afghanistans trying to get their cricket team to the 2011 world cup, through qualifiers and friendlies. a honest aproach as we get to know the guys while playing there matches through highs and lows, seeing their world view from home in afghanistan and places like the u.k and south africa. another example of a sport trying to get its nation together

Savage 2009,  Unrated)
Savage
darren o healy is a interesting watch here playing a young with everything going for him as a journalist, but when brutally beaten up by some guys, a very serious thing happens to him. both his mental and quest for revenge state of mind is tested. a film that gets to its point well, and into a charactors mind, who has gone through this shocking attack.
122
Of Gods and Men 2011,  PG-13)
Of Gods and Men
a film that focuses on french christian monks who work out of a muslim country doing there work peacefully. but their faith is tested when westerners are murdered there, and unrest settles in the region, they are advised to leve, but choose to stay, this putting their lives in danger. but with their faith comimg to the front its the desision they make. a interesting drama that gets close to its charactoirs played here, a intimite drama, and although some murders are shown in gory detail towards the start, this isnt the way the film goes, and focuses on the monks determination, doubts and other musings when it comes around. a well made film, which certainly takes a diferent aproach to storys of this detail
123
Red Riding Hood 2011,  PG-13)
Red Riding Hood
a telling of the red riding hood tale, i couldnt say, wether its close to the source, but it certainly has a vibe, and look to fit its setting, Catherin hardwick, certainly brings elements of her twilight to procedings, you see in the love triangle a little and certainly some casting, even bellas father turning up, the actor in a key role. Gary oldman also bringing a lot for when hes onscreen. one major drawback is the wolf itself, its poorly done at times, and it did take me out of the movie at the times it was on. holding it together is amanda seyfield, who does good here. this film could have been better, but its a decent watch with some exiting moments keeping it going. great music too.
124
Scream 4 2011,  R)
Scream 4
Better than parts 2 and 3, and its woodsbrough setting once again brings a good vibe. bringing, or at least trying to bring horror rules 10 years forward, where indeed things have changed. even shaun of the dead is watched on dvd. it works well enough, although at times the kids talking feels like they are talking to us about crappy horrors and so on rather than to each other, the beginning a example of this. but its all good fun, neve campbell, is brooding and annoying, but cox and arquette bring a lot. emma roberts last seen in brit flick, 1.2.3.4, is also good here, and overall the film captures scream original to a degree sucessfully. bad elements creap in and last act ruins it all to a degree, not entirely, it just goes to far and its ruined. good reveals also on the whos the killer plotline. so not a bad effort
125
A Serbian Film 2011,  NC-17)
A Serbian Film
a torture porn movie which the filmmakers intend bringing sex into the mix, and the creators have commented on this being a statement on the times in general, but more inpoortantly in serbia, im not sure how sucessful they are in doing whatever they wanted to achieve, but for a lot of this, the film comes off better than i thought especially hearing some terrible reviews and overall reactions to its grimm violence, but the film at times comes off good, it takes a while to sence whats going on, we follow a former pawn star, whos not making it any more pulled into a money making project, it involves his name and pawn experience. as the film moves along, it gets a bit trippy, and some at times unwatchable moments, although nothing hostel, saw or these type films havent done, so nothing new there, and then a event happens which im guessing kicked up a lot of fuss for this film, but ill say this, at least they dared to do it. so many hollywood films, repeatidly put certain charactors in danger or make them vital to plot, with no intention of actually wasting them, , c,mon, real life, it happens ? yes ?. so at least this film has that. its crappy at times yes, and if you dont buy first half, you might switch off out of boredome, but stick with it. there is something to be had.
126
Deadgirl 2008,  R)
Deadgirl
a interesting story and at times goes along nicely, especially when you get where its going. 2 teens find a tied up woman in a abandoned hospital, there is something supernatural about her, as she dloesent seem to die, after the more twisted of the two lads, figures this, he takes it upon himself to use the woman, for sex, and various other things, and its when secret gets out, things run out of control. not a great film, but it entertains, and has a look and direction which helps it along.

Android 1982,  PG)

Dated a lot more than the more classic early 80s sci fi, and a lot of cheese the first half, but once it gets going, it has a lot to offer. and certainly gets a lot darker and all elements of this nature come into play.

The Great Silence (Il Grande silenzio)
Klause klinski, is a great bad guy here playing a bounty hunter, while doing his job, along with his outlaws, taking libertys, a mute gunslinger played by Jean louise trinijant is hired to track him down, although things certainly are not over once tracked down. a spagetti western that comes off really well, a harsh winter cold and setting looking great, some great violence and overall western setting all coming together well.

A Boy Called Dad 2009,  Unrated)
A Boy Called Dad
A engageing tale, of a young boy, who at start we see even though 14 years old, hes had sex, and will be the father down the line. we cut forward to the time of the babys infancy, and his father he discovers out and about in his town, whom he doesent see due to him working out of the country, a friendship of father and son rekindles, getting to know his dad, although at same time, both not really letting everything out into the open. kyle ward has something here as the younmg lad, he brings a lot to his role. and ian hart who always does, its slow pace and brief running time at around 80 minutes work well together. with some moments of drama helping out greatly
130
Thor 2011,  PG-13)
Thor
Kenneth branah, after watching this i see now how he was certainly suited. although i dont know a lot about thor, this story coming in here, came off shakesperian at times, brannah knows that well, and i certainly think he brought something there. also, it fits in well with other marvel films especially iron man, in which is another step to the avengers film next summer. this film being yet another marvel entry being a good one. chris hemsworth came off well. his home world story also added a great deal, and certainly was main draw here, and played well with setting thor up on earth. setting things in motion for the avengers, while namechecks also getting a marvel fan going if you are one. one thing i dont get though, it isnt clear by the ending how he will play in the avengers film, either timeline will be screwed somewhere, or there be a lot of story going on somewhere, other than that. looking good for thor
131
Your Highness 2011,  R)
Your Highness
It comes off well at times, jokes are a hit and miss, and thanks to many trailor views many stale now. the big budget, which gives fantasy element a great look and feel moves it along, and leaving the comedy play out inbetween, mcbride isnt fantastic, but is helped along by franco, and especially portman. the humour is crude and lots of swearing trying to get laughs. so for the most part enjoyable enough
132
Arthur 2011,  PG-13)
Arthur
if you dont get russell brands sence of observations and humoiur, you might get annoyed, but i like the guy in the right mood, and he had something here. The trailor hid the drink aspect of his charactor, which did suit the film, and seeing as its a remake of the dudley moore film, , inportant, some good laughts throughoiut, and brand not afraid to embaress himself. some good natured heartfelt moments which brand brought well across, and of course Helen mirren on winning form. a good watch.
133
Cedar Rapids 2011,  R)
Cedar Rapids
funny and entertaining throughout. Ed helm, who burst throiugh with the hangover brings a lot here, some great observation humour, and of course whenever neede, John c riley on great support. yes the film grows a sence of right and wrong come the third act, but there was always a sence through his charactor, so it worked. a inocent man in his ways, seeing the world for what it is. a good laugh.
134
Fast Five 2011,  PG-13)
Fast Five
After the first, this coming in at 2nd, some exiting moments keep it going, also some bad over the top moments, with questions raised, its dumb fun, and does pull together. Dwain the rock johnston, here chasing the gang, making diesil looking really small. hes a great presence, both brooding, but good fun, it is what it is, with some much needed updates which work for it, a fantastic final action sequence, that entertains really well, although far too over the top and really questions the good guys motives to there plan, especially in terms of public safety. but again, its a dumb action, film, and entertaining it is
135
Insidious 2011,  PG-13)
Insidious
This freaked me out, the haunted house, or indeed haunted child, really grabbing me from the start. the film has many hands over eyes moments. simply from suspence and using house and darkness enviroment. the film plays to its strenths well. and although final act, could be argued redundent. for me i felt it ended, and id be perfectly haqppy at a point in this, but it does go on, and again its freaky scary, and holds a lot, a film that takes in poltergeist, house, paranormal acxtivity and many others, and a great adition it is.
136
The Veteran 2011,  Unrated)
The Veteran
Toby bell, ive followed with interest, since the exellent dead mans shoes, he was great in rocknrolla, and then not much else, support turns in nothing special, a few hollywood blockbusters too. but here hes on home tuf, playing a returning veteran from our current war, disillusioned, jobless, he gets back into the game, working for a group, who are following terror suspects, they feel hes a good choice, and he takes to it. but as story goes on, doubts about the job, and indeed what hes following, add to that, threats from the job, and the state of estate he lives he needs to make tough desisions, climax showing results of this. the film comes off well, certainly commentating on current war on terror, and one mans minor, maybe inportant part in it, also, flaws, and corruption, and shadow dealings, nothing is flushed out fully, but everything comes together. and a great bloody climax that for me echoes taxi driver, which when viewed makes sence considering, the two storylines on charactors agenda. a interesting vehicle for the actor who i admire a lot
137
In Our Name 2010,  Unrated)
In Our Name
Joanne froggatt, puts in a interesting performance as a returning veteran, back to her married homelife in the u.k. trying to get back into events, but her not understanding husband, even though he himself is a soldier while later turning for the worse, and her memories of combat combined with a love interest while there, make things dificult. the film plays well, a solid drama at times, and certainly gets a view of a returning veteran who also has a life to return to. seeing this just after the veteran, another british effort of the returning veterun theme, shows two diferent takes on the subject, even though towards the end, the film turns in its aproach, it still hold together well, and a interesting watch
138
Water for Elephants 2011,  PG-13)
Water for Elephants
pattinson, comes off good, and the film has a great depression era setting and look, and certainly a feel for the circus show of that time, but christopher waltz is a great watch and a wonder everytime he is on screen, and shows it wasnt tarentinos script working for him in inglorious basterds but more his marvellous talent. the film plays well and even though a kind of weak climax lets it down a tiny bit, there are certainly some dodgy effects coming in, the film plays well, and sad times also, the elephant portion is certainly that. so overall a worthy film. and probely more so for team twilight.

Confessions (Kokuhaku) 2010,  Unrated)
Confessions (Kokuhaku)
A fasinating tale. the film unfolds beautifully, adding more as film moves along. a great film about revenge, and certainly a diferent aproach, the film is wonderful to look at, with great visuals going on, always something to catch, and brings something to it. the film come final credits does all it wants to and brilliantly done

Chiko 2008,  Unrated)

4bia (Phobia) 2008,  Unrated)
4bia (Phobia)
Horror short stories from japan, they all come across well enough to entertain, and have their elements work for them, the first story about a young woman confined to apartment with a text conversation going weird, coming off the best followed by the last, so its a worthy effort, if not amazing.
142
Hanna 2011,  PG-13)
Hanna
saoirse is a fantastic watch. and goes on a great journey when her father played by bana lets her loose. many things come together. Wright who is more known for brit period pieces like atonement and pride and predudjice. does great work, superbly aided by a fantastic chemical brothers score, it certainly kicks in the right places. a fantastic one shot sequences involving bana shows fantastic planning and overall action, violence, and chase scenes working well. a entertaining watch.

Summer Wars (Sama Wozu) 2009,  PG)
Summer Wars (Sama Wozu)
From the people who brought us The girl who lept through time, which i loved, another slice of beautiful animation, and at its core, a relevent story of todays age. the perils of online living, here the world is connected to one online system, everything is on there, and when a code is broken unknowingly, it allows a hacker to mess with the system and cause destruction at highest order if not stopped, all this done through online consumers and acounts. certainly a warning of todays age, while in the system, avatars take control and the fight continues. wonderful animation, and engageing story, it makes sence when watched, as the hacked system causes mayhem on outside world, while digital world inside is very sci fi. a entertaining blend of anime
144
True Legend 2011,  R)
True Legend
Some stylish stuff going on here, and although the story seems out of place as in the events that take place, what you would consier climax, is not and story continues, it does continue to a good place, the film entertains, and although digital effects are over used at times, especially blood, its okay. a satisfying watch
145
Dung fong tuk ying (Eastern Condors) 1986,  R)
Dung fong tuk ying (Eastern Condors)
80S action, which is just that, and coming off all dirty dozen. the dubbing is what it is, and all the staples of the action are here, but it comes off enjoyable if nothing else, nothing to think about, and some good fun.
146
E tu vivrai nel terrore - L'aldilà (The Beyond) 1981,  R)
E tu vivrai nel terrore - L'aldilà (The Beyond)
A pretty decent film and great use of special effects. the story is not all that, but, it runs along nicely, and at times fantastic direction and style, the climax in the hospital is a standout, and make romeros zombies scary in terms of speed. the possessed house aspect at times is okay and has atmosphere, but leads the story elsewhere, and this film is typical of the european horrors of this time, a american setting with okay dubbing at times, not sure how many films by the director Lucio fulci, but he certainly has style if it does feel like many others.
147
I Spit On Your Grave 2010,  R)
I Spit On Your Grave
I wasent a fan of the original, it was okay, and this remake, while keeping in line with the story, a woman raped and left for dead, then returning to seek vengence. there are changes, and the gore level rises far more. it doesent fully hold together, and parts are unwatchable to a degree. a better looking remake and indeed performances, so while not great, certainly not terrible.

800 Balas (800 Bullets) 2002,  R)
800 Balas (800 Bullets)
A film thats very hit and miss. but anyone whos into the spagetti westerns wil see something. set in a spanish town, where supposedly a lot of them were made, and a stuntman of the time helping run the town as a tourist atraction. the film is at times stylish, and many references to the genre, with some great namechecks. lots of flaws, and a very weird scene with a hooker seducing a very young kid with him touching her breasts fit uncomfortably. so overall a curious watch.
150
Season of the Witch 1976,  R)
Season of the Witch
George a romero from the early 70s, looks cheap as hell, but it comes off pretty good, and entertaining. jan white playing a bored housewife, with fantasys of her crappy life as she sees it. she also has visions of what could be in herself. its when her friends introduce her to possibilities of witchcraft, she feels this could be her place in life, this indeed could be a origin story of this womans journey. not gory but phycological to a great deal, and everything pulls together. jan white is great to watch and she holds her own, while others faulter. its overall a entertaining film in romero who people tend to think of in terms of the living dead.
151
Heavy Metal 1981,  R)
Heavy Metal
This is a hit and miss in terms of the six stories on offer. but the animation, music and overall feel is the sign of the times, which helps, the stories are far out, and weird moments throughout. nudity on show also. the heavy metal name doesent make total sence to me, its a good watch if nothing more
152
Grizzly 1976,  PG)
Grizzly
One of those its so bad its good. Coming out in 1976, its fair to say possibly ripped off or inspired by jaws. a grizzly bear instead of a shark terrorising a park, and like jaws they need those dollers and dont need reputation. and like jaws the 3 guys are in this. and many more. even a crappy version of a bear attacking indians speech no doubt inspired by that speech in jaws. its sily takes itself seriously but it tries, and it is entertaining in a not to good way
153
Chatroom 2010,  R)
Chatroom
A concept that does work and at times well. but overall, it doesent fully satisfy. a film thats set online. but using concept of showing the charactors as physically there in a room, or world. aaron johnson creates a room and 4 others join, iit becomes exclusive. and slowly he bgins to work on these individuals. while back off line. they and he go about there lives. stylishly inside the online mind, its quite compelling at times. really showing what online community is, are we not physically disconnected. and at least this film tries to adress that with showing whats missing. its a shame overall there is something missing and stopping it becoming really great. a curious watch you really should try
154
Attack the Block 2011,  R)
Attack the Block
I really liked this film, Joe cornish the director has gone on to say. this film is inspired by his 80s upbringing, watching all those american films where kids would be going through these kind of events, then later realising why isnt britain making these films, its a love letter to that aspect, and he gets it greatly, the film has a fantastic energy to it. the limits of its budget while evident next to a massive hollywood production, comes off greatly here. the setting is fantastic. the aliens themselves are fantastic and come off greatly, while not scary, the film fully entertains in its alien attacks, chases humour and comments on todays youth especially the black youth of estates like the setting here. then there is the cast. they are simply fantastic. everyone is fully formed, full of energy, and great charactors overalll. you fully get to be with these who a major percentage are criminals brought into this story. the film does from what i see owe a debt to films come before in britain, specifically Shaun of the dead. certainly some of that type of humour comes in at times. and nick frost having fun in a small role, but also cornish had a part in shaun and obviously edgar wright having producer duty here. this film does what it wants to well, great observations and humour especially black youth humour and ways of life. which i got into fully, great soundtrack too, fully helping things along. my first great film of 2011
155
The Way 2011,  PG-13)
The Way
Esteves directs his father martin sheen, in a slow moving tale but fully draws you in. sheen on screen throughout certainly is worthy of a watch. here playing a father going to france to pick up his dead son, played in flashbacks and visions by esteves(a great device also) learning he was completing a pilgrimige walk from souuthern france to a place in western spain. dying not to far in. sheen with regret on his relationship and indeed disapointment of his son, decides he will complete walk and scatter ashes. once going he meets various people. and just tries getting on with it. a wonderful sad journey at times, esteves taking full advantage of themes, scenery and music to tell story. sheen walks, sleeps talks and then does it again, and it comes off greatly. the film fully kicks into gear when his friendship with 3 other lonely soles are fully established and they make pilgrimage together. it all connects and not just sheen bhut everyone gets their time to shine and its a entertaining watch. indeed sad at times, a great film about family connection.

Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life
A artist i dont know anything about. i knew that famous song everyone has heard, but dident put it to him. this film was inventive at times in bringing his state opf mind to us, through weird looking charactors based on himself living his life with him, helps things along on a visual style. the actor Eric elmosino as the lead is a exellent watch and turns film up a level. a film like most biopics jumps time greatly, but thats expected. a entertaing biopic of a artist i dident know.

The Tree of Life 2011,  PG-13)
The Tree of Life
This is a beautiful film to look at, Terrence malik is known for it, and while it could be argued like other films of his, much could be cut, its another of his nature films at times. id call it a thin red line in suburbia. but it was watchable, and never really bored me, the digital screening added wonders. but at the heart is the story of a family, a overbearing dad played by pitt, and the effects this has on wife and three sons. its a story well obsereed and told, and holds its own. after this the images add to running time and scenes that remind of 2001 a space odyssy to name one. it adds something to overall viewpoint, where are we going, where did we come from, who are we. is it answered ?, who knows, but a interesting journey

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 2011,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
While not better than the decent first film, it was for me, better than the parts 2 and 3 which were combined as one. it felt like a fresh adventure which could be set after part 1, and certainly could see that trend continue. more captain jack adventures. depp keeps momentum, and while it did indeed miss kiera knightley and others. it added new people, although the replacement orlando bloom and love interest was dull, one of drawbacks here, but story was interesting and fit well with the pirates of caribbean world

Welcome to the Jungle 2007,  Unrated)
Welcome to the Jungle
Another camcorder fouind footage, and while not hitting heights of REC paranormal activity or cloverfield, it does to a degree feel closer in style to inspirational, The blaire witch project. and it rolls along nicely. nice banter from the guys. and moments. its not scary, but its decent enough

Acolytes
A decent enough australian thriller concerning 3 school friends, finding a body, being baried by a suburban family man, they try to get him to kill a bully for them, but it doesent work out as simple as that and some mind games ensue. some good moments, while its nothing great going on, its not dull at any time. and a midway minor twist working good things

K-20: Kaijin niju menso den (K-20: Legend of the Mask) (The Fiend with Twenty Faces)
A entertaining comic style action film from japan concerning K-20 a master criminal who steals inportant and valuable items, to get attention away from him during his latest event, he frames a young man as K-20, here we see the man getting into a adventure to clear his name and restore the piece, and of course future bad things when what is revealed could have dire consequences on everyone.. a great lively look to it, and comicbook feel throughout. its japanes setting, a future set in a time ww2 dident happen, when action kicks in its lively, and although it does settle down a lot for talking heads, its engageing, so minor problems that dont spoil to much, and overall a entertaining film, from japan.

I Saw the Devil 2010,  Unrated)
I Saw the Devil
A engageing story of revenge, when a serial killer of women kills the wife of a special agent, he finds the latter will go on a personal mission to track the killer down, but not only that, violently punish him, and track him some more, a ongoing revenge on the murderer. this comes off pretty well. a violent film throughout, and in its portrayal of the women as the victims. the film runs nicely, and superbly directed at times. Ji-woon kim, is a interesting director, his film A tale of two sisters is one of my fav asian films, and he shows once more talent here. the violence is well handled and story takes us places. and great to see Oldboys Min-sik choy as the villain here, he is really great and creepy.

Senna 2010,  PG-13)
Senna
I have no interest in formula one whatsoever, and know nothing of the man himself, but despite that this doc is the best film ive seen this year. it outpasses everything, all arcive footage with interviews entirely put over top, it tells his story motivations, roots achievements and intentions, in a marvellous way. the doc in the way it is cut together almost comes off as a film biopic. the amount of footage of senna behind the scenes, in private life and more so here, the tracks and grand prix around the world. a man perfectly captured. also much more getting focus, formula one safety, possible corruption, and his rivalry with other driver and champ alain proft. all come off superbly. the film is also heartfelt at times, especially the tearfull ending to his short journey. a example of how docs should be made and indeed a lesson to movies of how stories should be crafted. a marvellous film for 2011.

Last Night 2010,  R)
Last Night
A film that comes off well focusing on a couple, temped by cheating on each other at the same time. one while out of town, the other stuck back home. but considering one has acused the other night before, a interesting story of motives and feelings in a relationship on the edge. all stars do good stuff and film runs along nicely. the title also suggesting. the last night before the events depicted here, a desion will be made
165
The Hangover Part II 2011,  R)
The Hangover Part II
a more raw dirtied down and foul carbon copy of hangover 1. it comes off good although scenes exactly from first take getting used to, and certainly major deja vu at times like the night before, pictures at end discovery for example. but its entertaining and the guys are very fun to watch.

Staten Island (Little New York) 2009,  R)
Staten Island (Little New York)
Ethan hawe overacts really badly in his stuff here, one of three glimpses into life of staten island, and of course connected to each other in some way. it does give a glimpse at that island across the river from manhatten, which is brought up as lot in this film, and how its sometimes forgotten part of new york. the three tales are okay, with some sparkle, but overall despite everything, it doesent fully come together, but enjoyable it is
167
Sisters 1973,  R)
Sisters
Early brian de palma from the 70s. and to a degree it comes off okay. a story of a reporter uncovering the truth of a mystery involving once syamees twins, played by margarot kidder. touches of de palmas hitchcock direction come through, and a very trippy dream sequence adds a lot towards end and film is helped a great deal by hitchcock and of course taxi driver composer,

What War May Bring (Ces Amours-la)
A look back to a woman during wartime and the men who came into her life. cutting to futiure where she is on trial, for murder of a husband. it comes together well at times and lead actress is very watchable. some great ww2 settings also raising it above at times

Mother's Day 2012,  R)
Mother's Day
There are things in this that work great, the home invasion aspect and madness that progreses is interesting, tense along the way also. friends put under pressure, and truths come out. the three bad guys show menace, and great seeing rebecca demornay putting good work in, she is a interesting and creepy watch. gory scenes and set pieces throughout entertain. but unfortunatly there is at times to much of it, and in here somewhere is a more slimmline tense picture. at times its tyresome and unintentional funny seeing events take place, but overall, it doesent really spoil overall enjoyment, and a film we have which is a good watch but frustrating at what it could have been.
171
Point Blank 2011,  R)
Point Blank
Another film from Fred cavaye, he directed anything for her, a film about a mans desperate atempt to break loving wife out of prison, recently remade with russell crowe in next threwe days. here we get a similer themed story, although diferent in aproach. here unlike next three days, he is forced into a situation when wife is kidnapped. what takes place is a gripping film from start to finish. Gilles lellouche as the desperate husband is a great watch. and the film plays great at its great pace and short running time, bringing in a lot of plot and back story. set pieces are fantastic. and always something around the corner. catch it now before the obviously u.s remake that will happen. but saying that anything for her remake, the next three days was good. heres hoping and not hoping. point blank a great french thriller

Who Can Kill A Child 1976,  Unrated)
Who Can Kill A Child
Two english tourists are holidaying in spain, the wife also pregnant. they finally make it to their final destination, a secluded island, which they find is vacant and very eery, things get weird when they see the local kids, which there are many, have been killing off the locals and visitors, the film plays well, coming out in 1976 it certainly has that feel of films from that time. films like the fury and village of the dammed certainly getting a nod. and of course the title. which certainly comes into play and towards finally comes into question. a interesting final act and indeed future motives for the kids, this is a interesting and enjoyable effort from the 70s horror cannon.

Andy lau and rene liu are great together and add a lot to overall film.

The Hole 2009,  PG-13)
The Hole
A typical teen childrens film set up here. kid moves to new town girl next door he meets and adventure begins, but joe dante directed this and although aimed at children, it certainly is a little beyond them, it does seem scary in parts and im talking more young kids, the creepy dead girl certainly looked eery and final battle coming off sinister as does parts throughout. there is even a cop who turns to reveal a head wound seeing the brain. its all good fun with edge to it, falling short mainly due to as i said at start the overall feel to everything else.

Red Hill
A entertaining film from Australia, concerning a policemans first day on the job in a small town( yes its a clitch) and coincides with the escape of a criminal making his way to the town for revenge on most of the townfolk. some entertaining action beats, kills, and music throughout. runs along very nicely.

X-Men: First Class 2011,  PG-13)
X-Men: First Class
A great adition to the x men franchaise, and most definatly a massive inprovment on other origins story, Wolverine. the 60s setting works really well and of course tying events to Cuban missile crises works wonders. the two origin stories here of magneto and proffessor x is well handled as is the casting of the two leads. minor niggles in events concerning team they bring in, but doesent weight it down, it be great to see more adventures of these two charactors, as the ending certainly moves them in right direction.

Bridesmaids 2011,  R)
Bridesmaids
Like a lot of comedys like these, it can be too long and you wish sometimes they could decide where they are going with it in turns of style, something producer here, apatow did brilliantly with funny people. but it overcomes this with good charactors, wiig is a good watch, and many around her. some funny moments but also moments of drama, trailor misguides you, but its not a problem. a interesting film from producer apatow. showing where he can go

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
This was a interesting enough drama depicting a land struggle betweens indiand and the u.s goverment, in the 1800s. the land was given to them by goverment and now its needed, some good moments of drama and certainly bringing up many interesting topics of things that went on at that time

Time Traveller (Toki o kakeru shôjo)
A very sweet natured time travel film, concerning a young school girl who goes back to 1974, although she makes a school girl mistake as she wanted to go to 1972. this a request by her dying mother who has known how to time travel. a mission to pass on a message to a man, who this was relevent. so while she is in the wrong year, she hooks up with a younger guy who is a school teacher in her own time, and tries to investigate the man. all the while striking up a friendship with the man. this film works really well at times. just a relationship story that knows where it is going, and keeps things under wraps well, and told when needed. great performance also by the young lead. a enjoyable watch.

A Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop (San qiang pai an jing qi) (A Simple Noodle Story) (The First Gun)
Yimou zhang director of Hero and other interesting films from the east, tacklles a remake of the coen brothers debut film, Blood simple, from what i remember of blood simple yhis film handles it well at times. translating the texas setting back to asia does work. minor problems ocure, but also at times comes of visually a lot better than the coens classic. this is no classic though, but it was interesting to see, and a example where remakes are not only done by hollywood

Considered to be one of the most influential anime films, a film i remember seeing the beginning of back in early 90s, but not all of it, here now getting around to it. it stands up, and ive seen many anime since, ive seen better, but understand its influence highly. a compelling story, and great style and music coming together.

Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster
The further adventures of I.P man, i enjoyed the first one and this was enjoyable too. Donnie yen bringing a calm and sincerity to the true life legend, who the man himself Bruce lee trained, a interesting story some terific action throughout. the english charactors who weave in here are badly dubbed it seems or just bad actors, but this is mostly the case in these films, but overall i liked it and look forward to more i.p adventures

Season of the Witch 2011,  PG-13)
Season of the Witch
This for me was far from the disaster many people have said. it runs along quite nicely, cage is as expected, and a good turn from pearlman, it has a great look to it also, a lot of effort at times, there are moments of badness throughout, but really not a disaster by any means

The American 2010,  R)
The American
A compelling film about a assassin played by clooney sent to italy in a small town, awaiting a job, this film is no bourne identity thrill chase, but a slow moving charactor study of a man possibly coming to the end of this lifestyle, and its pace and direction makes it very watchable. clooney is great, the town in questrion becomes a charactor in itself, and there are elements of his life coming into play from assassin atempts on his life to him planning his job, it all works well, anda interesting follow up for Anton corjin who of course directed the wonderful film Control about the band Joy division. a lot of complaints from fans were made at time of release due to misleading trailor, but stick with this you will get a lot

The Conspirator 2010,  PG-13)
The Conspirator
Robert redford directs a interesting slice of history, here concerning a ladys guilt in the murderer of lincoln with 4 other men, due to the fact her son was involved and booth the actor assassin was a visitor to her house of business, we see the arrest and coiurt case that was piut on for her, and the lawyer who takes it on ratherv reluctantly. and of course the eventuall outcome which did to a degree change the way these things are dealt. the film works well at times with James mcavoy a good watch. the outcome of events here did go on to changing certaIn things are dealt with, so its a film with some history to it.

Larry Crowne 2011,  PG-13)
Larry Crowne
Tom hanks stars and directs here, and it comes together well if a little smug at times. hanks shows how hes very much the everyman, Julia roberts is a annoying charactor to start, but overall the film does come together and its all down to Hanks charm. and i saw this before the dreadfull transformers 3, so in a way its a classic

Get Low 2010,  PG-13)
Get Low
A gentle drama concerning a man who lives alone and the town that has something against him and many years been a curiosity, when coming to end of his life he plans a funeral forhimself where he is not dead, and to put rights and wrongs to rest, inviting everyone, and giving away everything he owns, this is a interesting concept and although it doesent come off the way youd like it to be, its a very diferent film in aproach to what you might have heard, but duvall and murray give great performances and worth it alone for these two guys. also a great speech from duvall at end which whole film points to.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Two icons team up in Jane russell and Marilyn monroe, teaming up with a legendery director in Howard hawks, and as im fully aware its a product of its time, everything seems present, its by no means a classic to me, and i have seen many monroe films of this type. Jane russell is possibly the best thing in this anmd Monroe does what she does, some screwball comedy thrown in also. its enjoyable enough and works in lots of wayds, its just something missing. check it out.

Green Lantern 2011,  PG-13)
Green Lantern
Never a interest in green lantern, in fact id probely say untill this film was greenlioghted,, i hadnt heard of the charactor or comic, but that really isnt saying much, im no comic book geek/fan. The trailor came out and i was most definatly put off, as were many. id put off seeing it, that is untill last week when i saw the turd that was Transformers 3, and thought, id better give it a go, and while there are faults in this film, its by no means for me, a bad film, it was enjoyable enough, reynolds came off okay, but i hear wrong for lantern. and if taking story in film apart his ethics and direction doesent make sence. but i enjoyed myself, the effects were better than i thought, i dident 100% get his way of using powers, in ways of the green turning into modern devices through his thoughts. a interesting premise for plot but again showing faults, Peter saarsgard comes across well as a villain in this as does mark strong as a possible future villain. so also many good elements. it also does something Transformers 3 failed at. getting in and out, and moved along nicely. so no disaster by any means and i certainly dont mind seeing any further adventures

What starts off as a sweet natured quirky drama concerning a disfunctional couple and daughter, turns sideways, but for a while it stays on its original path when the daughter caught shoplifting, they meet a enthusiastic man who happens to be in the same business as them, he beefriends them, helps daughter out, and from here slowly but surely the new man and then when they meet the wife, true colours emerge. this film runs great, full of imagination. humour and eventually violence. a film thats about the stronger taking in the weaker man for his gain comes across greatly and the two male leads shows this fantastly. also the women in their lives doing the same. its not predictable and always something going on, and a great final act when events turn it into what it is. a great film portraying subject well

A lot of the stuff goes way over my head, but thankfully i got enough to get a aspect of the financial crises of 2008. Once official documents are released on a event in the 40s, where locals went missing or died up in the hills, a researcher doing a book and a group take up the challenge of investigating the very strange surroundings and theories concerning the story. once there however its made fully aware what happend all those years ago. a film thats takes a low budget and location and does a lot with it, the film at times comes of very eery and echoes in ways films like blair witch project and others although very diferent, there are some scenes of madness and forces at play which come off fantastic, and although at times you could argue acting is weakest thing here, it doesent take away too much. the film runs nicely as deeper into unknown they go. a film worthy of the watch

My Dog Tulip
Like the illusionist from last year, another engageing tale with wonderful handdrawn animation that pulls you right in, here a old man and his german shepard and his musings towards her ways and his love for the new pet, lots of talk of dog poop and then eventually his dealings with breeding, it comes of wonderful at times and a great voice over from cristopher plummer as the man is also well handled, a film that certainly will pull in dog lovers as there is much on show showing our relationship with mans best friend.

How the only superpower in the world does not have the schooling system to back it up. its a interesting acount, for me someone who doesent have kids is not in school and indeed is not american, like a lot of these docs , it can be debated at how much is true and is not, but i can point you to a point of view, check out a podcast called the film thugs, one is a school teacher in the u.s and he had a damageing review of this doc, not a review, more a rant on how incorrect it was, worth checking out, for the truth find these type of people. entertaining doc though.

Bruce Lee, My Brother
The story of bruce lee at the time when he was in hong kong and a up and coming movie star still very much rooted down to earth living at home, tet to go to america with great ambition. the film seems to have been endorsed by family itself, and the film plays well at times, it looks fantastic and its no suprise being a asian film, it could pass of as a martial arts rag to riches film inn its own right. there could be further tellings of his story, the next one his eventual move to San francisco. and judgeing by this it certainly has prospects.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2
Again not read this book or any potter, and after seeing part 2 i totallly get hallows part 1 more, its pacing, the much critisised rambling in the woods, this will feel at home when watching 2 parts as one and indeed all 8 films. and overall a entertaining and satisfying conclusion to the whole tale. ive not seen a bad potter film and indeed not seen a magnificent but towards the end of series a few 4 and a half stars popping up. the film in general is very exiting, and looks fantastic. complaints ? im sure potter fans have many but for me, just go with it, very enjoyable.

Horrible Bosses 2011,  R)
Horrible Bosses
The film was enjoyable and a packed house full of laughs helped it along, which makes me suspect for film in future watches. i noticed plot problems throughout and bateman does his bateman thing, its the others who make it more watchable, and when hes in it Colin farrell, hes great here. some moments and humour moving it along so it does entertain.

Beginners 2011,  R)
Beginners
Mcgregor who i find watchable in pretty much everything he does, and a lot ofv times its the films faults in general that let him down, thankfully here, hes picked a well put together film, some great direction from mike mills and great support from others. Melanie laurant who was a revelation in Inglorious basterds is good here, and works well with mcgregor, and playing his dad, Christopher plummer, so for this alone the film has its merits, but with a interesting story added, a enjoyable time, it reminds me at times of greenberg the ben stiller film. although diference in charactors, just its aproach and style.

Clint eastwood early directing effort from the 70s, and while not starring this is a good film its entertaining and story always engageing, the two leads are very watchable. the divorced old man played by William holden, whos life looks up a bit when free spirit youngster Breezy again exellently played by kay lenz. a story about a unconventional romance and its consequences on each other, the film is touching at times and shows the relationship well.

Yabu no naka no kuroneko (Black Cat from the Grove) 1968,  Unrated)
Yabu no naka no kuroneko (Black Cat from the Grove)
A samuri revenge film with a diference, a mother and daughter are killed by a clan of samuri but make a deal with the devil or there abouts, brought back to life being catlike in nature, seducing samuri and killing them, that is the deal, but when a young man aproaches and is employed to track down the killer/s of samuri, he finds out they might be connected to his life. Made in late sixties this rewards you greatly if you buy into it, it comes across well, and its very moody in its aproach. its all kept interesting with some action downplayed greatly. a very interesting look at samuri from the horror perspective

Female Yakuza Tale
Great 70s soundtrack, and im sure tarentino will use it one day, if he hasnt already. sex nudity throughout and violence, all coming together well in a japanes exploitation flick,

Death Wish 1974,  R)
Death Wish
A wonderful film for Charles bronson, certainly a product of the crime ridden newyork of the 70s(this came out in 1974) here Bronson playing a vigilante aimlessly going around newyork using him as a target and when muggers strike, shooting them stone cold, but with the nypd on the unknown vigilantes case, his time could be up. this film works very well, and overall, the badness of newyork in the 70s produced great cinema. with its high crime rate and police coruption, see also, serpico, the french connection, the warriors and my favourite film of all time, Taxi driver. death wish which im only now seeing in 2011(not sure why) can hold its head highly. im sure sequels are not as good. but judgeing by this i want to see more.

Afterschool 2008,  Unrated)
Afterschool
A film that to a degree reminds me of a film like Elephant, really getting into its charactors and in Robert played by Ezra miller especially when events kick into action when two young students are killed/poisond and its on his film, here we follow the guy and schools atempts at dealing with this situation. the film is well observed, nicely directed and certainly has a style and pace its happy to go along with. all charactors come of genuin and realistic, and its a interesting look and a private school, when something like this kicks into play.
219
Middle Men 2010,  R)
Middle Men
Disclaimer says this is based on true events and company in it is a real pioneering company, but also says all events charactors and events are fictional, so basically take it for what it is, but its amusing and sometimes edgy enough tale showing another glimpse at fortunes made during the internet infancy years. some interesting moments and Luke wilson is a good watch as is Giovanni ribisi. a good watch.

Super 8 2011,  PG-13)
Super 8
JJ abrams channels Spielberg especially 70s/80s Spielberg, and despite the last 15/20 minutes letting film down greatly(lets just say the monster and overall climax is rather a let down) the rest was a 5 star ride. the spielberg stuff coming off everywhere, the 70s setting and look hints at anything from jaws close encounters and 80s/ E.T. Abrams has said this was partly his intention. and the film for this runs greatly at the heart are of course the kids. and all bring something. the filmmaking story is worthy. and there could be a film about this. then when plot kicks in with a massive over the top train crash(but very entertaining) the film takes a turn and all elements come together. monster not glimpsed, again spielberg /jaws. until final reel. as i said the letdown for film. this works well. the drama also working wonders. so a few tweaks towards the end and this film could very well be film of the year, but for now a high 4.
221
Captain America: The First Avenger 2011,  PG-13)
Captain America: The First Avenger
This film came off well, it was a interesting origin story, and the 40s setting during ww2 worked well. again not read any comics on this but i sence it could be faithful, it certainly felt like it. captain america first a experiment, taking him from a weedy guy refused enrollment to a beefed up fighting machine, then a propaganda device to raise war bonds after program shut down then through his beliefs, fighting the war. it all comes together, anbd as we know a lead up to the avengers, fitting perfectly for that, he is now set. Evans is cast well, despite him once being the human torch, and film overall has a great look certainly 40s wartime look. a entertaining watch and looking good for avengers as thor came off good and indeed iron man(less iron man 2) and the hulk which both versions i liked.
222
Ironclad 2011,  R)
Ironclad
A film st in the period of king john, who was a very bad king in the 13th century england. a group of knights lay seige in a castle under attack from johns army. its a entertaining film with some entertaining action and at times gore. and paul giamatti hamming it up as the king is worthy of a watch.
223
Dead and Buried 1981,  R)
Dead and Buried
Horror from the early 80s, and while it does get off to a slow and could say dull start, its mood and story goes along nicely and then when whats known is known, its pretty decent, some good old fashioned make up effects also working in its favour, even the main charctor playing the cop acting outrageously over the top towards end helps in a funny way. a film thats a cross between the wicker man and village of the dammed plus many more inbetween.
224
Man From Nowhere 2010,  R)
Man From Nowhere
A fantastic revenge film from asia. a man with a mysterious past played exellently by Bin won. while trying desperatly to keep his distance befriends the kid next door, witnessing the way she acts around the lone parent mother and stealing sweets. but things turn for the worse when the mother gets caught up in a crime sindicate and through his pawn business him also. but when the kid is taken which later will reveal why. he has to take law into his own hands. this film is a entertaining and bloody crime thriller with many exiting sequences. but also a very engageing story at its heart. superbly directed also. adding a lot. a film i feel will certainly satisfy the asian enthusiasts.

Day Zero 2007,  R)
Day Zero
Three friends living in newyork all at diferent stages in their lives, set against the backdrop of a a draft that has fallen on american citizens due to the war. these three get the notices and reflect together what this means, all three having diferent reasons and viewpoints on going/not going. the film is handled well at times, and even trhough its obvious which climate this is set against, not too much is talked about. 9.11 is mentioned and a Los angeles event with more deaths than ground zero in newyork, but again its glimpsed over and to a degree this works for the film, its three friends and their close family dealing with events, and for this while not brilliant its a interesting watch.
226
Fright Night 1985,  R)
Fright Night
The 80s classic which i have never seen but seen in bits many times on tv. but with remake due very soon this year i thought id better get it seen, cant get hold of sequel on dvd here in uk though ?. this film is entertaining and a product of its time, certainly can sit along side the lost boys for me, although quite diferent in many ways but certainly the young male leads familier. some great 80s effects on show which i miss, a entertaining slice of 80s horror.

Naboer (Next Door) 2005,  Unrated)
Naboer (Next Door)
A pretty effective psychological thriller, a film thats about the state of mind of a guy, the more the film goes along. whos real and whos not comes into play, and at a very short running time does not oiutstay its welcome either, its setting is quite unsettling at times and adds to the film,
228
The Devil's Double 2011,  R)
The Devil's Double
Dominic cooper is fantastic playing saddam hussains rebellious son and the double employed to be by his side. its not just a inpersonation he does well, but both parts, and of course acting against himself is really well handled. a interesting acount of a time, that isnt focused on the father we all know.
229
Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011,  PG-13)
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Remembering the original films. i think the rise part is diferent, but this film which i sence will take its own path, is really good. a film that relies heavely on the apes and its effects, does not disapoint. it makes the film. and overall a well made first installment to hopefully a franchaise. this film sets up well. Andy serkis motion capturing ceaser here is fantastic. adding much. and overall everything comes together well.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Not a trekki or trekker, and ive not seen these, ive seen parts 5 and six and some next generation films, but for ages thought id seen these. This first one is regarded to be pretty bad, but for me with no invested interested in the trek, i enjoyed, it wasnt perfect, and a few years after star wars, effects not as great, but i enjoyed story and suprised at my enjoyment.

Star Trek III - The Search for Spock 1984,  PG)
Star Trek III - The Search for Spock
At the end of 2 Spock dies here hes aparently alive and on a planet at end of its destruction due to going ons in part 2. a entertaining third part. its not brilliant and Kirstey alley not returning after part 2 and being replaced by someone awful, doesnt help. but it all comes together and another interesting and entertaining trek film.
233
Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home 1986,  PG)
Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home
Silly concept 4th installment which comes off rather well. some great humour and situations for the crew help things along in 80s san francisco. a definite change in direction after previous 3 and indeed 5 and 6 but a welcoming one, and seeing first 4 for first time in 2011 i could say this might be the best. maybe.
234
Ghosted 2011,  Unrated)
Ghosted
Some typical seen it all before stuff on show here. although central performances from Martin compson as a so called ghosted inmate(a term used in prison system) coming to a new prisonn where a prisoner played by John lynch seems rather concerned for his well being when the ne kid is targeted, pulls the film together quite well at times. there is a deeper meaning to everything that happens and you are rewarded for that at the end. so while its yet another prison film, its certainly not dull and it entertains.
235
Meek's Cutoff 2010,  PG)
Meek's Cutoff
A engageing film from the start focusing on settlers traveling the famous Oregon trail in search of a place to settle, but as we join the story, there is lost hope as meek the guide they have employed is not leading them anywhere and water and food much needed. tensions rise amounst the settlers towards his thinkings, and how to procede. The film itself is all abouit this and for a film set against the frontier and western myths, no action to speak off and this also works in its favour. its all about the charactors and the situation at hand, a film with no easy answers towards its climax also raises questions to the destiny of these people.
236
Tout contre Léo (Close to Leo) 2003,  PG-13)
Tout contre Léo (Close to Leo)
A okay drama which has some heartfelt moments. the story following the youngest brother from a family where one of the eldest has contracted hiv. at first kept secret tot to upset the kid, things then play out following the two brothers. a curious and interesting watch that is not brilliant in any way. but it runs along.

Elvis (Elvis the Movie) 1979,  G)
Elvis (Elvis the Movie)
Kurt russell is fantastic as elvis in this his first teaming with director John carpenter. its by the numbers going over his career and fits a lot in from performances and low/high points, its all entertaining due to Russells performance. agian, he is superb

The Guard 2011,  R)
The Guard
Brendon gleeson is a fantastic watch as a police officer in rural Ireland having his world shook up when a murder and possible drugs bust coming to ahead in his little town, cheach marin also adding a lot as a Atlantas fbi agent having to come down there to stop/solve crime. the humour is fantastic full of witty observations and comments on irish/small town, life. americans, and brits in general, it comes off great at times, Mark strong also adding great humour as a stuck up englioshman villain. the film is tight, but does slow down at times, but keeps on track, and the film doesnt really loose focus of overall idea, a entertaining film and from a director who's brother directed the better Inbrudge. but this is worthy also.
239
The Inbetweeners 2011,  Unrated)
The Inbetweeners
I debated about seeing this as firstly ive not seen the series and the trailor has english lad humour that seems maybe it wont sustain, so i was plesently suprised at how well film played. the four lads are all likeable and distint, and flawed beautifully, also come off really well together. the humour worked very well with guys bounceing off each other and a packed cinema helping this along greatly. the plot which takes our guys from suburban england to a holiday abroad is a well known concept looked down upon(Kevin and perry go large a bad example of a series to film doing this) but works perfectly here, its the charactors perfect fit. ive ordered series 1 2 and 3 straight away and look forward to seeing how these guys got to this point.
240
Cowboys & Aliens 2011,  PG-13)
Cowboys & Aliens
I love my westerns and this looks fantastic for a western, and the beginning inspired by the man with no name device works brilliantly. but when aliens come into it it looses something and brings up a lot of plot holes/plot devices and overall pacing, but it does come off and was enjoyable, the effects were exiting, although again like super 8, a let down for the aliens, but overall there is fantastic action, and performances. Craig having a moody part. and indeed Ford, but it does come off. a entertaining summer film which definatly has faults.
241
Trail of the Screaming Forehead 2007,  Unrated)
Trail of the Screaming Forehead
Not taking itself seriously at all helps this stupid concept along and along the way cracking dialogue which is totally tounge in cheek at times helps also. the concept( a alien race which are basically foreheads try taking over the woprld by taking control of people and being placed on forehead is ridiculas but as its not serious you tend to run with it, but it is bad, cheaply shot, terrible acting, i cant see this being remade anytime soon but thats something that could improve. overall a rather crap film that i went with for once so a weak 3 stars here.
242
Lifeforce 1985,  R)
Lifeforce
A pretty decent sci fi film from the 80s concerning a spacecraft picking up alien life form in the shape of 3 humans in appearence, one being a woman of beauty men cant resist. cut to earth some weeks later and it comes to a explosive climax. some great 80s effects on show, Tobe hooper directing with great flair at times, and some effects reminds me of his film Poltergeist. it does come off as a b movie at times which i guess it is, but it has many great moments although with added cheese. a enjoyable sci fi effort that is a lt better than it should be.
243
Perfect Blue 1997,  R)
Perfect Blue
Manga film from the 90s, i know because the girl is confused by the internet, this and the whole pop idol concept doesnt fully pull it along, but the film does get trippy when she and we are not sure whats reality and whats in her head, it has a entertaining style and very poppy and some violence and nudity when its needed. entertaing and worthy of a watch.

Sanjuro (Tsubaki Sanjûrô) 1962,  PG-13)
Sanjuro (Tsubaki Sanjûrô)
Another fantastic samuri film from Akira kurosawa. it plays brilliantly straight in, we see a plot getting into action anmd our hero getting involved with no need to, its a great introduction and from there the film does not disappoint

Little White Lies 2012,  Unrated)
Little White Lies
A very entertaining drama concerning a group of friends going off to a summer house for part of the summer despite one of their own getting involved in a horrific car accident(brilliantly played out in the beginning) various relationship threads going on between some, and sometimes boiling over. a great cast of french cinema, a few of the male leads i have discovered in the last couple of years and shows what a great asemble of actors you can draw from there. at over two hours it does not outstay its welcome and somethings always happening.
246
The Skin I Live In 2011,  R)
The Skin I Live In
I know Pedro Almodovar is well regarded, and i myself has enjoyed his work, and certainly recent ones, but i most definatly rate this very highly in his cannon. this had a great story and structure, and plot points and a few turns in story coming along very nicely, it certainly keeps you thinking as to where itys going, and if indeed you could guess eventual fate of some, its hard to figure out why untill a certain point, and thats the wonmderful suprise, discover this for yourself, no spoilers.Antonio banderas is at his top here, and at times i actually forgot itv was him, also ELena anaya as the captive girl of story doing fantastic work, and her make up, very relevent to story and charactor. unless of course she is that perfect looking ? never boreling and beautyful looking. a great spanish film and worthy film in Almodovars cannon. so far one of the years very best.
247
One Day 2011,  PG-13)
One Day
A curious concept that comes off well. looking at a relationship of 2 college graduates meeting then seeing the friendship over july 15th through 20 years, based on a very recent book. the film which relies on hathaways, and sturgess performances works. its Sturgess that gets acting honours, but hathaway is good also. the film is both heartwarming and funny throughout and has weight in both areas, not funny haha, just in the writing and observations. getting sad towards end, and the look certainly bringing out the late 80s/90s/200s well
248
Final Destination 5 2011,  R)
Final Destination 5
Entertaining 5th installment, and although i did not see it in 3d(i went for 2d) i senced this could be a rare example of a interesting one to watch. the film in itself was entertaining and certainly sequences i had to avert my eyes, more than any other of the series i would say. and true fans of the series will be pleased and thrilled at a plot twist. they might very well get it before end but thats one for the fans. a 5th in a series that is far from bad but by no means a classic.

Christine 1983,  R)
Christine
Great direction from the vintage John carpenter period. based on a stephen king novel, great misdirection at the start for anyone not knowing story or read plot on film concerning the two friends, and who we follow. the film runs well and as usuall a great score and the elements of horror working well

Ghost in the Shell 1996,  R)

Memories 1995,  PG-13)
Memories
3 short films all very diferent in style and indeed story, the middle entry being the very best and could most definatly stand as a feature, and other two adding a lot, the three stories being so diferent dont knock into each other and that alsao works in its favour.

Fuyajo (Sleepless Town) 1998,  PG)
Fuyajo (Sleepless Town)
Not a great film by any means, but there is enough doubt and double crossing through the film to take it to its conclusion.
254
To Live and Die in L.A. 1985,  R)
To Live and Die in L.A.
William Friedkin directs this wonderful slice of 80s cop, and William petersen showing along with films like this and Manhunter he was leading the way mid 80s. yes like a lot of 80s stuff, the clitches are way bad(at the start his partner says im too old for this shit) and music very 80s and at times especially now grates, but also puts you there back in the decade which was great. The story was engageing Petersen getting in too deep to catch criminal Eric masters played by Willem dafoe. and directed by Friedkin we get a fantastic car chase taking in a freeway, backstreets and of course the TJ hooker water system they have there. good to see John turtorro also in a great supporting role, most definatly a product of the buddy cop time but with much more a edge than most.
255
Millennium 1989,  PG-13)
Millennium
A interesting concept at its heart, but the film takes turns and comes off silly at times, typical 80s fair going on. but the film for what it is is entertaining in a bad movie kinda way, Krisstofferson ir a embarressment, and Cheryl ladd the same. two people in love coming off badly, its laughable but i was oddly hooked
256
The Other Woman 2011,  R)
The Other Woman
Natalie portman is good enough to warrant a watch, the film goes through the motions a couple coping after the loss of the newborn and portmans charactor dealing with her stepson. i did get this under another name(Impossible pursuits) so im not sure why the name change. a decent family drama
257
Countdown to Zero 2010,  PG)
Countdown to Zero
Where we are today with nuclear weapons, its security and safety problems from past to present and new threats are many questions brought up here, its put across in intelligent way, debates and questions which may never be answered. we all know about nuclear threats and war, and there isnt anything here that i didnt really know about, but it brings the threat very much back home once more. and a eyeopener if you are young and inocent to all this stuff.

Boston Girls 2010,  Unrated)
Boston Girls
Good to see a diferent poster for this on here, because here in the uk we have a very Machete/grindhouse look with Dany trejo bare chested with the two girls. the problem being while the two girls are very much present, Trejo is in one scene playing a drunk sorry for his past wrapped up in winter gear. the film in general is a okay low budget effort, thinkingt its more clever than it is and commentating on things. the two leads are okay and throughout some bad acting allround. but when it picks up in places its a okay watch.
259
The Art of Getting By 2011,  PG-13)
The Art of Getting By
Freddie highmore growing up fast in this film, That child actor from charlie and the chocolat factory. a young schoolkid growing up in newyork here. coming to a crossroads in his life. hes one of those woody allen types, a nerdy kid with a look upon liofe in which he thinks whats the point. things look up a biut when he meets another pupil played by emma roberts. but with him failing badly in school and family problems. he needs to sort his young life out. Highmore shows here he may well get past the child actor curse choosing a role he seems suited too. Roberts is okay but watchable. the film is quite tight at just over 80 minutes and fits a bit in. a lively indie soundtrack helping out also. it is all rather predictable, maybe its downfall at times and thje plot about him failing in school, might grate people especially his second chance, but overall a lively film, showcasing Highmores talents to come.

Kill List 2012,  Unrated)
Kill List
The less you read about this film the better. a slow burning film even though a brief 90 minutes. and your really not sure where its heading. the hints at psychological horror, mixed in with hitmen on a mission and at times extreme violence. makes you think more, and when payoff comes its not totally satisfying but it did work, and reminded me in a way of the wickerman and another british film from this year Wakewood. if you enjoyed these you certainly will get something. Neil maskell who ive not seen before is a curious watch and very natural at times, then during end credits iu saw mostly was improvised by the two leads. Michael smiley who you might remeber from Simon pegg?Nick frost sitcom Spaced as the weird biker. brings a lot also, at the end of it all it does co,me together, so a interesting and curious watch.
261
Fright Night 2011,  R)
Fright Night
The original Fright night was not a classic so while this is not also its a decent remake. the cast is fantastic and the four main leads are great. Anton yelchin as our hero is great and more a edge than original Charley. his gilrfriend Amy played by Imogen poots more sexy and the it girl of the school great also. Colin farrell is of course fantastic and possibly raises this film way up, and possibly Dr w himself David tennent as Peter vincent a great casting choice. so these make film watchable on its own. the film has changes to original, and they tend to work, The 3D is terrible at times certainly at the start, and darkness factor playing in this comes off very bad at times. the visual effects 3D is the draw and that works, but considering this was filmed in 3D any shot footage there is nothing i beneftted from. also a very badly executed car chase does not benefit from this and again darkness also. a entertaining film in general and while effects got the 3d going. nothing else did, so a lesson is learned. lots of visual effects please.

Sick Nurses 2008,  Unrated)

13 Assassins 2011,  R)
13 Assassins
Not the masterpiece for me at least but a entertaining film ftom Takashi miike. he always interests me. the film plays well and its slow build up getting everything into place working well. some entertasining samuri action throughout keeps entertained and at its heart a solid story
264
Race With the Devil 1975,  PG)
Race With the Devil
A very simple but quite silly premise. 2 couples travelling through Texas in a RV one night witness a cult and a sacrifice. but the cult see that they have seen and chase them, once escaped. they feel anywhere they go they are being watched. possibly the cult and nobody can be trusted. all this climaxes in a great road chase which did come off ecxiting. why this cult would go this way is the silly part and im sure there be easier ways but it works for the film. a great 70s feel adding a lot also certainly a sign of its time.
265
Super 2010,  R)
Super
I was put off seeing this for some reason, in some part to Kick ass being so good and worked on many levels. then this comes out and seemed very low key a indie version of kick ass which in a way was indie itself. but then i thought, there has been films like this before kick ass, a superehero becoming one because of whats gone before. mystery men was great for that and a film called defendor which this relates to. Super was a great suprise a lively opening credits, a great soundtrack. and the film playing on its indie feel. Rainn wilson who i always found creepy, especially in the rocker was great casting here, a loser charactor becoming a self made superhero after his wife leaves him, and soon realises shers become drugged up by a local crime lord played by kevin bacon. helping him along in superhero law is Ellen page doing great here also. the film plays its comedy well and mixes it in with great superhero action. and when needed goes into indie black comedy/drama. it all works well and a short film at under 90 minutes works greatly, a great suprise for the year
266
Colombiana 2011,  PG-13)
Colombiana
Zoe zaldana here is given a oportunity to play action hero and to a degree proves Angelina jolie has a run for her money with films like Salt. the origins of her younger self are interesting and her eventuall revenge also good, it does fall flat at times but some great action poits and zoe looking fantastic makes it a worthy watch.
267
Apollo 18 2011,  PG-13)
Apollo 18
A worthy adition to the discovered footage scene, and basing its events not only in past history(a alleged 18th apollo mission. in reality they stopped at 17) and something going down up there on the moon, the film plays very well, and we get a lot out of the locations.the moon itself and the capule. some creepy moments throughout and horror coming into play well, and unlike other films of this nature. a film that gives another eaning ntirely to the moon landings.
268
TrollHunter 2011,  PG-13)
TrollHunter
A entertainf fax doc. even though a bigger budget here and full on special effects. certainly the closest to being inspired by the blaire witch project as far as im concerned. the world we see here, is well set up. Norway and the concept that trolls live there and a well kept secret by goverment. 3 students follow a troll hunter at first thinking they are on the discovery of why bear attacks are happening, and before long they are in the world.the effects come off great, and ther is certainly a tounge in cheek comedic turn to everything, and the set pieces are very well done, the attacks have style nd things that seem really fresh at times. another worthy adition to found footage film.
269
A Lonely Place to Die 2011,  Unrated)
A Lonely Place to Die
A film of two halves. for the first half set up the mountains of the scottish highlands it works brilliantly. fantastic direction at times and the scenery looking fantastic. a group of friends there to climb but finding a buried girl and events turn from there when men with guns start to hunt them down. the film turns when we get to a village, it does tail off, a new plot kicks in and something is lost, but even this part is not bad. its just a shame considering fantastic first tense half, so overall a divided film that didnt get a sence of what it was doing right.
270
Jane Eyre 2011,  PG-13)

Ive never seen any screen adaption or indeed read the book of jane eyre so story was new to me, and the cast did good work, the moody setting helped things along. but up to a point i lost interest while it did keep ticking along.

Great concept here. a older man doing a doc, tracks down a former star who he admires greatly, there also being a reason, once story she tells begins, about her career start and life before, we get transported in that world as does the man and his asistent, we see her story before big time but it also blends in with roles she has played, and films shes been in. at centre her involvment with a mysterious man she never got to know, and corruption from ones close, her obsession to track him down. in this meanwhile through her films we see plenty of action and fantasy and the old man entering as her saviour as his assistent oddly looks on, the film plays well, and it works on many leviels,

High and Low (Tengoku to jigoku) (Heaven and Hell) 1962,  Unrated)
High and Low (Tengoku to jigoku) (Heaven and Hell)
A enjoyable police procedure drama from Kurosawa. a business man about to pull of a deal leaving him very much in debt, has what is to be believed his son kidnapped, but as soon as he agrees with kidnappers ransom, the son returns and its the survents son who has been kidnapped. a choice has to be made, and desision while very much debated is to pay for the survent as its in a way to do with him, from here a brilliantly executed at times look at trying to track down the kidnapper, its all well handled and great at showing how the little things can be massive clues, and also a third act which goes in a diferent way works for film in whole, Kurosawa here shows once more why he is a master filmmaker

The Warui yatsu hodo yoku nemuru (The Bad Sleep Well)
Kurosawa directs in a tale of corporate corruption and revenge, it comes together well, borrowing heavily from shakespeare it has been said, especially hamlet, something hes done before. never boreing and story moves along greatly

Mr. Nobody 2009,  Unrated)
Mr. Nobody
Very intrigueing, and superbly directed, there is lots of visuall flaire going on here, the story which does get confusing at times especially towards the end. is very interesting in its self. the film that tackles questions about the univers and its consequences and many others about fate and so on. there is so much going on, and most definatly not perfect but certain a great discussiion to be had afterwards.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy 2011,  R)
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Gary oldman is fantastic in this film, one of the years best, and aided by great support, Tom hardy, Mark strong, Toby jones, Colin firth, and John hurt heading the cast. The story set in the so called Circus a code name in the goverement during the cold war, and in the mix there is a mole, Gary oldmans Smiley is brought back to set his eyes on his former workplace when he is to figure out the mole, in a group who were his former work colleges, This film works very well on many levels. with at times many threads coming together in the plot, certainly not for the average filmgoer. its gripping at times and a great sence of londons stuffy 70s setting. Oldman hopefully will get a much deserved oscar for his role here, and many others in support. a film that shows the the shadow world of these people and to a degree in oldmans charactor his life out of it, a gripping film that does what it does very well

30 Minutes or Less 2011,  R)
30 Minutes or Less
This was enjoyable enough, it had a good pace and had sence of fun, there are definatly problems for example Danny mcbride does his thing not great, and Aziz ansari i never bought as a newly full hour teacher deciding to help his buddy no doubt putting career online, but its a comedy i guess so you roll with it. Eisenberg comes off the best hes watchable and can be a bit diferent when he wants to be. some good dialogues at times and there are laughs but certainly could be better.

Kill The Referee (les Arbitres) 2010,  Unrated)
Kill The Referee (les Arbitres)
Great thing about these cinematic docs is, you dont need to know/care about the subject. this film about football referees is just thast for me, in fact not interested in football a whole lot. but like another great doc recently(Senna) about formula one and that great legend which i did not care for. watching them i got interested in the people followed. this film Referees being the euro championships of 2008 and following a bunch from various countries, through some interesting times during tournement. its all on the pitch footage and changing room stuff for most part but it is interesting and entertaining and shows the total disrespect these people can get at times from both players and fans. this film certainly is a brief look at these guys but fills in enough info on homelife and sometimes politics of the proffession to make it a worthy watch.

Down Terrace 2009,  R)
Down Terrace
Solid improvised actting are the main draw for this film, two criminal types escaping a sentence but once arriving back to the family home they soon realise someone close could be the reason for events. eventuall killings and family istrust soon kicks in, a decent effort and it does go places, the director returned this year with Kill list, a film of a similer theme amoungst other things,
281
Drive 2011,  R)
Drive
A film that certainly takes iits cue from Michael mann at times especially heat, and another film from the 80s by william frietkin. To live and die in la. the itself is moody and slow at times but in nob way a bad thing, it fits the story well, it also knows when to kick into gear when it wants to. the opening getaway sets mood perfectly and you will know what you are getting. Ryan gosling is great here a man of few words at times, his story turning when he meets next door neighbour played by Carey mulligan, the film is a great watch, and while kids may turn there heads as its not fast and furious, as a indie crime film its fantastic. great violence when needed also and a cracking soundtrack at times, a fantastic watch
282
Killer Elite 2011,  R)
Killer Elite
entertaining vehicle for the stath, and owen, although its a shame de niro only really makes his presence during the beginning and the end, the middle really misses him even though the film is never dull, and when he appears for a tiny bit just to remind us hes here, its a joy. a interesting story about corruption high in goverment and especially the sas. and the staths morals coming into play, some good action and sence of the time(this being a true story for inspiration).
283
Footloose 1984,  PG)
Footloose
80s cheese with sugar on top, but that nothing bad here, its the 80s, its all here, underneath it all is a tale of repressed kids in a town where dancing has been outlawed, but newboy bacon shakes things up, i put off this film for years just thinking it be a dull 80s teen film, but it has interesting things in it, bacon is fantastic and that 80s soundtrack is very worthy. great to see a young up and coming chris penn, he was great too.
284
Baghead 2008,  R)
Baghead
4 out of work actors inspired by a director getting vpraise for his indie effort., and the way he went about it, decide to develope a film themselves, so off they go to a cabin and flesh out the ideas, but between the four many friendships going on between them, once a concept is decided inspired by the night before, things turn a bit weird. a interesting concept come the end credits, more a indie relationship drama with a stalker element rather than the reverse, and to a degree it works, its enjoyable and all 4 cast members bring something. it does not hit the mark fully but there is something to be had
285
Kuro-obi (Black Belt) 2007,  Unrated)
Kuro-obi (Black Belt)

Potiche 2010,  R)
Potiche
A engageing story, set in the late 70s, and following the trophy wife of the title, here we get to know her and her family during the family owned factory and its labour disputes, as the uncareing husband to her falls ill, she takes over reins, something she has forgotton about since her new status, the film has plenty of light hearted moments and solid themes, it does run along nicely, even though the last third i lost a bit of interest as she further branches out, it comes off a interesting watch.
287
Daydream Nation 2010,  R)
Daydream Nation
A decent role for Kat jennings, as a girl in a new town getting involved with a teacher but also a kid who likes her, shes a bit muddled so settles for both, underlining this a plot about a serial killer killing young women, and in a interesting way it all comes together. not fantastic but its a well made indie and lots going on with story going in a nice direction
288
Crazy, Stupid, Love. 2011,  PG-13)
Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Not a bad film, in fact it is enjoyable and Steve carell and Ryan goslin are good to watch, but overall to much going on, and towards the end it looses control a bit, and too many charactors getting a look in, not to mention at one point Julian moores charactor getting rather upset at Carells charactor, which just does not make sence and only for movie benefit, that bit was silly, but overall a enjoyable enough watch concerning relationships.
289
Midnight in Paris 2011,  PG-13)
Midnight in Paris
Woody allen transfers his musings onto Owen wilson in a very charming way, a film that shows Allen is very much in love with Paris, and if you are a Allen fan of old and get his thoughts about history and culture(here the nostalgic past of 20s paris) you will get a lot out of it. Paris is the guide book Paris, which is very much intentional and most certainly a major charactor here, Wilson brings a lot of charm to his role like John cusack in bullets over broadway and Keneth branah in Celebrity he brings Allen out, and you can see him there but all the while its very much Wilson. a great simple concept taking him topn 20s Paris meeting the fiures of that time, im no fan of people on show but i totally got what was being said, so fans of these figures will get something more. Allen has not really lost it for me in the loast decade or the 90s, a few films here and there(Scoop, Curse jade scorpion to name a few maybe) but hes had interesting films here and there. but this certainly has done something for him all around. great to see Allen still doing well.

Actor Paddy constanine here directs a powerful brit drama showing he has a future in directing and also has learned a thing or two while workingv with the likes of Shane meadows(Dead mans shoes a fantastic film from them) great acting all round and also touching moments mixed in with hard to watch. a powerful film about abuse and dealing with it seen from diferent viewpoints.

Real Steel 2011,  PG-13)
Real Steel
Transformers 3 showed a robot film with humans can be crap, but Real steel showed a human film with robots can be enjoyable fun, and with Spielberg exec producing you can see he was more concerned with this film rather than that other turd. a father and son story working great with the robot boxing world. a genuin suprise for me that this was this good. yes its cheesy at times but it all comes together and the world on show believable throughout.

The Invisible Man 1933,  Unrated)
The Invisible Man
Early adaption of the HG wells novel. and for its time, some pretty nifty effect work going on here. the invisible man suff obviously looking dodgy now, but anything involving wire work for doors opening and everything else its pretty fun to watch. the story comes off silly at times, but the story does go somewhere, the guys voice while invisible adds some funny menace also. a decent 30s horror pic.
295
Frankenstein 1931,  Unrated)
Frankenstein
Ive read Bram stokers Dracula, but never read Mary shelleys Frankeinstein, and people have said this isnt that faithful. maybe it is, maybe it isnt. but for a film of Frankeinstein it was pretty enjoyable, certainly a product of its time, and at just over a hour Half the running time of most products of this kind from today. It holds up very much considering its age and it is a film both fans of cinema and horror should watch out of respect to the genre.
296
Paranormal Activity 3 2011,  R)
Paranormal Activity 3
Taking events back to 88, which the sisters talk about, when they were young and so on, the curse. its shown to a degree how it comes about but also come the end we could very well see another prequel delving deeper and way further back in time to the origin, but thats hopefully to come. here for the most part it wasnt working. for me part 2 worked much better than part 1, due to concept and more cameras, here we go again handheld when neede but just 2 static shots, but in that a quite effective moving one. it takes time and for most part i almost lost faith but last third ups the game, some great scares and if you remember the kitchen scene in part 2, youll love a diferent aproach here, and to end it all a move of location that did wonders to overall enjoyment. so in the end a few bumps but things looking good for these films.
297
Restless 2011,  PG-13)
Restless
Dull at times Gus van sant effort. very much taking off from Harold and maude, but without the old one. quirky at times and in that respect a better film this year came in the shape of the jem Submarine. this film though isnt bad it has some okay moments and ticks alonmg nicely enough
298
We Need to Talk About Kevin 2012,  R)
We Need to Talk About Kevin
Fantastic drama a film about family relations specifically mother and son., the son as we know from the start has committed something terrible, flashing forward in time the mother living it rough now away from the husband, daughter and of course the son, house blasted with a paint attack and people disgusted by her around town, as we flash back we see her relationship with her son unfold from birth to his 16th birthday and the aftermath of said event. a sometimes heartbreaking portrayal of this family and the relationship of the two that comes off very bad. looking on her husband whos just trying to get by. Tilda swinton as always is fantastic getting a fantastic lead role. Reily who some might not know considering his recent past started off with films like this many solid dramas under his belt. his work with P.T anderson 3 times doing great work. and of course Eza miller as the disturbed son showing a twisted mind at work in scenes at home. Lynne ramsay only on her third directing outing shiows class here after getting back in directing at failed atempt to get The lovely bones made(later peter jackson) all round a great film, getting to the side of the parent in these tragedies. fantastic, one of the years best
299
The Adventures of Tintin 2011,  PG)
The Adventures of Tintin
Fantastic, ive not read or seen any TinTin so maybe its not faithful, but as a Spielberg film, its all there, at times more Indiana jones in set pieces than Kingdom of the crystal skull. john williams score is also fantastic, and the motion capture and scenery is fantastic, it all plays wonderfully and has a great pace, not one dull moment, Jamie bell brings a lot as do many others. Spielberg shows here he could very well fall in love with this medium, and honestly im all for it.

Contagion 2011,  PG-13)
Contagion
Soderdberg does for a virus what Traffic did for the drug world. at times a very political film commentating on many things, the story which follows events after a outbreak comes off well as we follow many strands from top level disease control to a father loosing his wife/daughter. the film works well on showing us how dirty and disease heavy everyday things can be this works well, this film could be longer which i find interesting as many of the stories could be expanded.

Blitz 2011,  R)
Blitz
A entertaining enough police drama/thriller, set back in the Staths home turf of london, and a pretty good support turn from Paddy constantine helping things along. The bad guy overacts a bit but does come off a little Gary oldman back in his badguy role days which you cant grumble at. some great violence sprinkled throughout and some action round things off to a film wporthy of a watch.

How I Ended This Summer
A film showing two men, one a young student getting the chance to work at this outpost in arctic circle, with the other a older veteran at this game, who is very much set in his ways and certainly to getting the job there right,. but when pavel the younger one gets a incoming message concerning the olderr Sergei,(concerning the family) hes at odds wether to tell him about it. the film is well played and the setting looks bleak especially when events escalate. good performances from the two equal leads in a screen count of two. and a interesting journey to the end.

Tucker & Dale vs Evil 2011,  R)
Tucker & Dale vs Evil
Entertaining and fun horror, turning the genre on its head a bit, certainly films where kids get caught up with weird charactors down south. here a film very much the case of mistaken identity as its concept going to at times hysterically funny levels, some great moments, and the concept going great, yes towards the end it can loose a bit of momentum, but some great gore with the rest going well through film, it has earned its viewing well. a great suprise in a genre where there really is too much crap around

Anonymous 2011,  PG-13)
Anonymous
Like Crowes Robin hood this is a much bigger scope film, like that film was based on a much bigger history in time, here we see Rhys ifans(who is fantastric here) being a writer of those famous plays who cant be public about it due to his status, and in this comes family infighting involving queens and kings so very much Shakespeare in itself. through this he passes his plays on to a writer at the globe who then due to events is passed of as a local actor?playright, William shakespeare, a cocky aragant showoff. a lot of this comes of well, although a lot is weighed down with the overall scope. and names and plot could confuse if not paying attention. but this works, while not great. it looks fantastic and has scope that way to.

George clooney directs again after the very disapointing Leatherheads, and in a way back to familier territory with Goodnight goodluck. Everyone he is a fantastic watch, and honours go to Phillip seymour hoffman in a support role in regards to Goslin but his presence is everywhere. ther story is in teresting and topical, and followes Goslins charactor well, Clooney who also supports comes up front when needed and mostly kept in the background which works well. ther film could easily have been his. a great effort from him.

The Thing from Another World
Directed by Howard hawks this classic original, itself based on a story is a pretty enjoyable slice of 50s sci fi. i saw John carpenters The thing long ago, but never seen this, its a typical 50s creature feature, and for that does its job well, it is basicallly a man in a monster suit, vrery diferent to later version, but enjoyable all the same.

The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra 2004,  PG)
The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra
00s filmed but its trying to be a 50s sci movie filmed in black and white. but a very tounge in cheek script, hammy acting and playing up the plots and script writing of the time, its enjoyable and there certainly are cracking lines and situations to enjoy, its not entirely sucessful in whats its doing but a interesting concept to go for.

Straw Dogs 2011,  R)
Straw Dogs
Credits at end give credit to the original film and its original source novel, and watching this the 73 film is very much a influence, it plays rather well, Mardsen is fantastic for once, and Bosworth also. the vilolence is ratched up and the house siege works really well, Transplanted to america and its football town setting also doing film justice. The famous rape scene is tackled diferently and also works for this here. a well made film, Adaption/remake however way you watch it.
312
Machine Gun Preacher 2011,  R)
Machine Gun Preacher
A powerful film and a very decent role for Butler. the story sets up well his criminal past back home in the u.s his eventual faith in god and turning life around there, and once jetting back and fourth to sudan to set up a orphanage the story is well told also. action beats showing the struggle are well handled and show the danger he and others are up against. Butlers u.s accent which has grated in past is again just okay here, but he has lots to chew on here. not the action film 12 year olds will expect from poster but enough to entertain and a powerful story at its heart.

Adèle Blanc-Sec
Luc besson directs and at times is visually impressive, but i wished she was on a adventure like at the start, instead confined to paris trying to awake the mummy captured on that mission to help sister out of a coma state, mixed in with this a flying dinosaur on loose. its not a perfect mixture, but enough imagination to get you through

I watched the Dennis quaid/Meg ryan 80s remake many years ago, and finally seeing this in 2011, its a pretty decent late 40s film, delving deep into charactors tracking diown of the murderers of him, hes dying due to poison, the plot is good and it comes off well, and itsa always great seeing these films from back then

Barney's Version 2011,  R)
Barney's Version
Paul Giamatti in a great role for him, looking back over his life and specifically his 3 ex wives and the special one who he thought was indeed the one played by rosamon pike. basically how a guy can do things so wrong, that relationship story especially is heartbreaking in story, the film plays well. and Giamatti fantastic in all decades hes in. Dustin hoffman also fantastic here, playing his father, whom he loves very much and id say never judges him especially considering his odd behaviour at times during film. a solid drama about relationships and relationships lost.
322
The Rum Diary 2011,  R)
The Rum Diary
Johnny depps second stab at Hunter s thompson, this film being not the druged out ride Fear and loathing was. he still gets his hunter in here, and hes a good watch, the story set in Porta rico and set around corruption, him coming in as a journalist and getting enchanted by some things but put off my other things. some funny moments throughout capturing that s thompson madness balanced well at times drama when needed. this isnt a perfect film but Fear and loathing i didnt enjoy much, so for me this is the better of the two.

Seeking Justice
The trailor does a crappy job of geting this film across, this is a silly but fun film, very much in the vein of Liam neeson in taken and other films of that kind, its a film of two halfs in terms of style but both halfs are decent in its way. Cage is a good watch and giving his tax problems and doing a lot of this type, gives it his all.

The Snowtown Murders
Based on true events. The reason to watch this film will be for Daniel Henshell playing John Bunting, the new father figure in Jamies life, also well played by Lucas pittaway. Henshell is a fantastic watch, coming off as a very likeable way with morals coming into play, that you want to agree with, but his ways of dealing with them, very offputting and very much against laws in place. the film set in a depressind suburbia works for story and indeed shows desperation for community,

Who would or could indeed get inspired by the Human centipede original film(Not in terms of filmmaking, but real life psychos) that question is explored here, as we follow a Psychotic parking attendent who is hooked on the human centipede original, in work, at home, it seems to be his life. so he kidnaps so many people and attempts to repeat the procedure. of course hes no surgon like in film,. filmed in grainy black and white, for the most prt this film was complete pants, but as his plan kicks in, the gore comes out(something far worse than seen in the first) and some enjoyable if off putting moments. this film shows, its not the surgeons of the world that would atempt this but genuin real life psychos out there without the know how, and in this respect it works. so not a fantastic film with many problems, but saved by second half, and certainly going all out unlike first.

Vamp 1986,  R)
Vamp
80s teen horror in the vein of films like Fright night in particular. 3 friends spend the night in seedy side of town lookijng for action, but coming up against vampires, lead by queen vampire Grace jones. it has its moments and certainly a product of this time. its a fun watch with bad acting and comedy horror but fun all the same.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 2011,  PG-13)
Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1
The werewolves are badly done in this, you would think they would put the money into them by now. butv the story is engageing taking the two to the next level in their story. the 2nd half certainly is a eyeoppener, and certainly works within the story and climax does bode well for 2nd part. now just fix those werewolves

Moneyball 2011,  PG-13)
Moneyball
A film about baseball but not, more the politics behind the baseball, here the money problems facing low level teams against the biggest, and one solution by a manager(Brad pitt) and a analyst (jonah hill). they can get a team together at a very reduced rate to the big guys that will rely on stats and things overlooked. we follow a season of such team when it works and does not. this is very engageing story, which works onm many levels, its always engageing. Pitt is a great watch, and commands here,m but on hand Jonah hill anmd Phillip seymour hoffman are also exellent. a true story and a story very much relevent to many sports, we all have the big spenderrs vs the low spenders. so for that, its very universal.

50/50 2011,  R)
50/50
A entertaining film with a very serious matter at its heart, the film balances light humour. solid drama, and both go hand in hand, the two leads are great to watch, not everything gels, and this was written by the director who went through this. so there may very well be things that happend, but you can also sence where its purely fiction. neverless a entertaining watch.
339
My Week with Marilyn 2011,  R)
My Week with Marilyn
Keneth branah as Laurence olivier, and Michelle williams as Marilyn are fantastic to watch and they certainly work in their roles. the film which focuses on a time in her life, here filming in london with Sir laurence is a engageing story, although the guy who is the My week part of the title is less so, and you wish it concentrated on the two heavyweights, but at times it does and that is great. it be good to see Michelle williams tackle Marilyn again as she certainly is fantastic here.
340
Take Shelter 2011,  R)
Take Shelter
A fantastic performance from Michael shannon and a story drawn out throughout the film keeping it engageing. intense at times and a great charactor study of mental illness as its theme.

A Better Life 2011,  PG-13)
A Better Life
At a certain point in this film, this turns into the classic italian film, The bicycle thieves, and it helps the film greatly. the film focuses on a mexican illegal living in L.a lookingv after his son, trying to live a very quiet life, everyday life a constant fear any little thing could get him deported. living as a gardner, he has a oportunity to buy the owners van( its a business which he is lucky to work for) and circumstances take a turn as ive mentioned above. the film is a interesting look at the situation in la with ilegals and how circumstances can change very quicky for the better or for worse. good performances doiing film a great service also.

Resistance 2011,  Unrated)
Resistance
A alternative ww2. dday has failed and Britain has been invaded, in the Welsh valleys, a isolated farm now run by the women( the men have gone in preperation to attack back) a group of germen scouts turn up and stay through the winter, a sort of bond is formed, and the men decide to lay low afterwards. the film has good momeents of drama, and, the harsh winter of the welsh valleys comes off bleak and looks cinematic. good performances throughout. and a nice tiny performance from Michael sheen giving support to a welsh film. a good watch.

Cat O'Nine Tails 1971,  R)
Cat O'Nine Tails
Another Dario Argento ive been getting into the last year, this one is okay, better than some, not as good as others. its typical Argento in its style, script, setting, and its entertaining, a okay mystery and typical Argento murders to enjoy.
345
Killer Klowns from Outer Space 1988,  PG-13)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
A fun 80s horrow with a hook to bring you in, Killer klowns, it works well, the Klowns are really creepy and the film itself doesnt take itself seriously, there are some good moments horror/comedy, and its worthy of a watch
346
Critters 2 - The Main Course 1988,  PG-13)
Critters 2 - The Main Course
Entertaining sequeln and best of the Critter series, although thats not saying much. it works well and ups the action and comedy, it entertains where it should, and improves on the decent first film. but 3 and 4 dont so the series comes to a stop.
347
Hellraiser 1987,  R)
Hellraiser
.A entertaining 80s horror from Clive barker, a interesting concept at its heart, and some great gore on show. 9 sequels followed i believe, maybe more/less. ill only be seeing first 3 at this time. i cant see them topping this, maybe a few good ones along the way.
348
Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 1988,  R)
Hellbound: Hellraiser 2
While its entertaining and gory, and continues story and charactors left from first. its not as fullfilling as the first. the climax is far more exagerated than first, it is very gothic and good elements of horror, so its a interesting enough continuation of frasnchaise which im only now getting into.
349
Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth 1992,  R)
Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth
Another entertaining adition to the series if not as fantastic as the first, it does lose some of the look and style of first two, its certainly heading into a diferent kind of horror, at least on this film. but story takes Pinhead to a interesting place and this comes of good enough. i have some faith in seeking out the rest of the series when oportunity arises

Dreamscape 1984,  PG-13)
Dreamscape
People can go into other peoples dreams and interact, a goverment progham has people being treaten this way, people who are troubled but within this a plot is taking place to get rid of the president of united states who is about to strike peace with the russians. Dennis quaid a person with strong powers for this job and now out of it all is brought back, but he soon discovers all is not well and this kicking off. the film 80s dated now is enjoyable a young Dennis quaid not great but engageing, there are silly moments throughout but for a 80s fantsasy film there are a lot worse out there.
351
The Thing 2011,  R)
The Thing
prequel/remake/re,imagining/ whatever it is. technically and storywise it most definatly is a prequel, but in tome and style and indeed action beats its riffing on John carpenters film in many ways, for me it worked well, Mary elizebeth winestead was good, and shes not been getting good reviews in that respect. the film pulls together and when it gets going it certainly is gory with great CGI and practical effects working really well, many wont like this simply because The thing already exists. and that maybe is its downfall, and it could be argued they should have officially said its a remake, people say many action and plots are simply retreaded here. but as a piece of film i enjoyed the ride, and the two Thing films that came before are no favs of mine but simply enjoyed. so a good entry in the Thing series

Hugo 2011,  PG)
Hugo
Martin Scorsese knows his cinema its his passion and here he brings us a magical kids adventure and by the end has given a lesson in cinema history., Georges melies a director that turned his back on the industry after WW1 and worked at a paris train station, and here its why we meet Hugo a orphan living and working the clocks at the train station always on his guard with the inspector. when Hugo meets Isabelle a young enthusiastic girl, whos related to Melies, it seems its his destiny for this to happen. the film looks wonderful and the 3D at times comes of brilliantly, the central location of the train station looking epic, Scorsese shows his talents in every way, his love of early cinema coming through to tell the story of these peoplea passion of cinema and a director coming through the eyes of this boy is a joy. Asa butterfied as hugo is wonderful, as of course is Chloe moretz, both magical, Ben kingsley shines also, showing his lost passion and anger well, Will kids like this film ? a lot of it they will, the two kids doing their thing is wonderful to watch, but when it turns into the passion for this lost talent maybe less so, although there is still a lot of magic going on for them, but then as a adult and Scorsese fan this is fantastic to watch, the industry of the past and his movies getting a look in, its all fasinating and anyone who turns their nose up to these times could be turned. a film in Scorseses cannon that stands out not because its bad or better than anything else on there, but because of what hes done.
353
The Big Year 2011,  PG)
The Big Year
Not the laugh riot you would expect from these 3 teaming up or indeed the trailor thats selling this film, but a drama/light comedy focusing on the 3 with their passion, here being bird watching, it works well at times and all 3 come off well, there are light touches that go into suprising places, its a enjoyable film which sometimes touched me.
354
Country Strong 2010,  PG-13)
Country Strong
Crazy heart light, here Gwyneth paltrow platying the country star making it back after rehab, shes good in the role, and the story while nothing special takes it along Tim mcgraw is also interesting playing the husband/manager.
355
Fatal Attraction 1987,  R)
Fatal Attraction
Michael douglas and Glen close are pretty good watches in this 80s thriller. teaching a thing or two to people especially married people that wanted to cheat, the story is engageing and all performances command attention.

Profound Desires of the Gods (Kamigami no Fukaki Yokubo) 1968,  PG)
Profound Desires of the Gods (Kamigami no Fukaki Yokubo)
It could be a lot shorter but neverless its still a interesting story with lots to enjoy, some fasinating performances on show keep it ticking along, and the story itself about a family with issues inside the family and to others on the island comes off well.

Karthik Calling Karthik (K.C.K.) 2010,  Unrated)
Karthik Calling Karthik (K.C.K.)
A film of many levels, firstly it starts of as a study of a lonely shy man working in a office with a love of a woman who does not see him, then you think where is this going, when he starts getting calls from himself on his new phone, he to himself tells him he must change and stand up for himself, this is a revelation for him, he gets more confident, better job, and thatt woman, then it turns all romantic comedy on the viewer, cheesy music and all the catchings, i was plesently suprised by this turn as next it turns again and all the better for it, the film is well handled, a long running time but never bores, these many levels of style and storytelling keep it going and great moments, a scene of him imitating a blind man which is privitol to plot is a great watch. the film worked well and of course performances doing good, a interesting film showing what the industry in india is doing.

Villain (Akunin) 2010,  Unrated)
Villain (Akunin)
A relationship through the internet, a older woman shy and withdrawn and lonely and a young man also a bit withdrawn in his life and no real way with the ladies, but events before they met, he had a encounter with another girl and it ended badly, now as these two get a real connection, hes on the run for the murder of that girl, and she takes off with him, a media circus is also running and the family of the girl wanting the man questioned /found, its handled well, and while slow in places it moves along and for me got into the minds of all involved,

Suicide Club 2002,  R)
Suicide Club
A fantastic opening sets the tone of this film, many school kids happy, singing, holding hands in a underground stop jump in front of the arriving train(we later find out its 54) gory blood going everywhere, a investigating team soon discovers what it could all be, more happy kids jumping to their deaths leads to why and who is the cause of the mayhem, there are many joyful moments and over the top violence to be had here, some offputting violence also, weird moments to be had( a great scene in a abandoned bowling alley, unkown movements in white sheets and a indie guitar sonmg performed is a highlight here, its sometimes uneven, and doesnt fully function, it does get a tiny confussing but gets back on track and when the true piurpose is reveiled its quite rewarding, japanes cinema can do these things well,

Sarah's Key 2011,  PG-13)
Sarah's Key
A woman delves into her familys past whilst on a assignment and finds connections to event during ww2, a film well played at times and shows a interesting story connecting past to present.
361
Another Earth 2011,  PG-13)
Another Earth
A concept that could have gone the hollywood studio blockbuster root, but here is a indie drama with the device set firmly in the background but vital to story,. Here we are following Rhoda a promising student brilliantly played by Brit marling, getting into a car wreck partly due to her looking up at now prominent earth 2(she is drink driving which is the cause) killing a family in process. sent down for 4 years and newly released weith no real prospects, Earth 2 is now at a stage where more is known, and closer much closer. a chance to visit earth 2 is playing on her mind and could happen, but a chance encounter with the father of family at accident site makes her want to confess, but cant, only to strike up friendship with the man, alln this plays out very well with Earth 2 firmly in the thoughts and background of everyone involved. this is a concept that works well, i love the fact films like this are being made, where we see the ordinary going ons when something marvellous is happening(think of the sci fi film with scientists going about the discovery) but also we get plenty of this indirectly through news reports throughout the film, and at times thoughts of scolers over the film, its a vewry interesting idea and certainly coulkd be explored more. the central story also goes places between her and the victim. a film that certainly explores ideas, and a fantastic end shot that for me sums up film brilliantly.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows 2011,  PG-13)
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
A pretty decent sequel, bringing Moriarty and the plot works well. Downey junior and Law once again show a great chemistry and Ritchie directing flaire, and certainly a contender for scene of the year. involving Moriarty, Holmes and playing chess moves from memory. it looks good for holmes

Faster 2010,  R)
Faster
This was entertaining enough with some entertaining moments,, Not the full out action car chase film you might expect, but a good tale of revenge when released from jail, the rock as usuall looks tough as nails, and a okay turn from Billy bob thornton.

Lord of the Flies 1963,  Unrated)
Lord of the Flies
At first acting threw me, just seemed off, unproffessional. but then it clicked, James aubrey as Jack and Hugh edwards as Piggy are great together. the story which follows a group of kids stranded on a island is of course based on the famous novel, and while the kids do quite quickly get order it soon escalates quite quickly also. split into two groups things turn tragic. a film that shows kids and left to there own devices, but to me also made me think, Well would adults do anything diferent ? the film is dated and does not look exotic in its filmed locations, but maybe thats the point, a classic story of inocents lost

Bobby Fischer Against The World 2011,  Unrated)
Bobby Fischer Against The World
Documentary about the most famous chess player and considered the best, focusing mainly on a world championship match with champ, Borris sparsskey, a russian, Fischer a american during the cold war. thje film also delves into his past and his passion for the game, and rounding it off his later years, his exile from the states and how he lost it, possibly the game or upbringing making him the way he was. it is a fasinating acount and most certainly a must for chess players out there, which i am( by no means on his or any level) its a doc that brings fasination to the game, while learning about a man. a solid watch.

Beautiful Lies (Full Treatment)(De vrais mensonges) 2010,  Unrated)
Beautiful Lies (Full Treatment)(De vrais mensonges)
Another Audrey tautou fluff piece, but this is somewhat better than the terrible Heartbreakers, and to a degree Priceless. although Tautou seems to be loosing weight by the film, she will soon dissapear, the story itself, a case of mistaken identity and so on moves along at a nice enough pace and everyone is engageing. Tautou always has a presence, but seems lately its romantic comedy teritory for her at mnoment, and going by this and priceless its by no means a bad thing, but theres a;lways a Heartbreakers.

Anuvahood 2011,  Unrated)
Anuvahood
Coming off the new wave of these films coming out of the U.k, this being a more comic take on this culture, Adam Deacon certainly gives it his all and some comedic moments do come off the situations. some works, some dont but, but theres stuff always going on, it gets heavy handed at the end, and to a degree belongs in a film like kidulthood, but it worked. a enjoyable if not fantastic watch

The Reef 2010,  R)
The Reef
A decent and at times slicky done scenes taking advantage of what could happen in this situation. 4 people decide to leave the upturned yaught, while one stays, andc swim to a near by reef(10 miles or so) even the thoughts of sharks dont stop them although a few are much against it, once ouit a shark does stalk them, and strike. the footsage is very good here, im guessing real sharks and at times some effects work. there are good moments throughout, and you are most definatly with the swimmers.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 2011,  R)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Rooney Mara is fantastic as LIsbeth Salander the hacker for hire with a tormented past, and Daniel craig suited very well as Blomkvisk. although based on the best sellering novel, this is in look and feel the original swedish trilogy. set in sweden but sticking to english, there are minor diferences from what i remember but pretty faithful. David fincher also is very much all over this film, bringing his dark vision to shots and look/setting and one of the best opening credit sequences i have seen in a long while, very much taking off a bond title sequence. and considering Bond himself is his hero in this(Craig) its wishful thinking that they will make a bond one day. the film that clocks in around 2 hours 30 mins is nver dull. and the two leads command the screen. Mara is for me as good as the original Salander in swedish original. she is fantastic here portraying a person full of confidence in the proffession she has taken but very much a withdrawn outsider in personal life. she is never a dull watch. fincher once again shows also what he can do with the score, again fantastic, Trent raznor scoreing once more, kits fantastic. heres hoping for a completion of the trilogy

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol 2011,  PG-13)
Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol
this was entertaining, it was thrilling and set pieces throughout entertained, enough good moments to enjoy, asa were the cast, but at the end of it all there were some annoying problems, while it didnt make the film a bad one, it certainly made it a step down from part 3, which i feel didnt suffer ridiculas things on show. the climax is one major concern, the nuclear missile climax did not work, and silly fight in hi tec car park adding to things. the team on show including a fantastic Simon pegg did add a notch and for this and other reasons it didnt fail, and kept entertainment alive.
