Insidious
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie!!
In terms of "horror" I much prefer sinister supernatural ghost stories like this to out & out blood & gore slasher types.
This was intensely creepy & atmospheric. I liked the fact that in some scenes the scares were built-up whereas others were effectively subtle.. this made for a film that gets under your skin a little.
The plot was interesting and maybe a little more intelligent than your average horror. Good performances too. I thought the ending was going to fizzle out but it actually surprised me a bit.
Great movie - one I'd definitely watch again.

Paul 2011,  R)
Paul
Such a fun & amusing movie.
The interaction with the animated Paul was done really well & this has great moments of humour. You don't need to be a sci-fi geek to watch this as overall the story here is not just about alien jokes, it has a bit of a heart too.
I seem to be becoming a Pegg & Frost fan ~ I enjoyed this.. & I'd watch it again.

Cowboys & Aliens 2011,  PG-13)

Battle: Los Angeles 2011,  PG-13)
Battle: Los Angeles
Although not outstanding within it's genre, this wasn't bad either.
A sci-fi/action-adventure with good effects & moves at a good pace - a decent popcorn-flick! I don't think the story or characters were strong enough to stand up against similar movies (e.g. District 9 - which was much more memorable on the whole).
Not excellent but entertaining enough.
13
Kill the Irishman 2011,  R)
Kill the Irishman
A solid & gritty story that is well-made but all the more watchable for being "based on truth".
Ray Stevenson did a pretty good job (certainly held his own) as lead role Danny Greene - mixed with an equally good cast & performances - in a film that has a few slow moments but is overall is a decent crime/gangster movie!
14
Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs Evil 2011,  PG)
15
Scream 4 2011,  R)
Scream 4
Quite entertaining despite being a 'fourth' movie (4th in any franchise is usually tiring). This is in keeping - though I cannot remember the 2nd & 3rd Scream films in detail - & was quite tongue-in-cheek about it's original creation. Liked the fact that they were still able to bring the original characters back too.
Not outstanding, but not bad at all.
16
Red Riding Hood 2011,  PG-13)
Red Riding Hood
A visually pleasant spin on the old fairytale, this had a good mystery element to it - plent of guessing at who was going to be the wolf..
**SPOILER** (I had Granny marked until the penny dropped).
The acting was mainly ok, though the wolf animation LOL! - somebody was rushing this movie out.
There is an obvious appeal to Twilight fans (well, same director here for a start) but overall this was watchable. Not great but not bad either.
17
The Debt 2011,  R)
18
Dark Shadows 2012,  Unrated)
19
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows 2011,  PG-13)
