Movies made in 2007 which I think are worth to be seen or I got to see due to various circumstances.

Please notice that only those I've already seen are ordered. Those that I liked are, naturally, at the beginning of the list, and those I think are a waste of time are at the end. Between those two categories, are listed the movies I haven't seen yet, in no particular order.

Reign Over Me
Perfectly unbalanced between comedy and drama. Like a sample of real life. Touching story. Not so much about losing one's family, how about friendship. Wonderful.

This isn't a history lesson and it's not even necessarily about Sparta (and I believe the title stands for my theory).
It's a story for dreamers. You can tell from the poetic narration.

I'm Not There 2007,  R)
I'm Not There
It's ambiguos, and poetic, and at times gets a little puzzling and distortioning but I don't think I would have enjoyed it so much otherwise. Some things are just not supposed to be clear.

Charlie Bartlett 2007,  R)

If you have a bad day you might want to talk about it. You'll probably feel better. But I recommend you just to sit down and watch this one. This is that kind of movie that makes your day.

Blood and Chocolate 2007,  PG-13)
14
Ratatouille 2007,  G)

El Orfanato (The Orphanage) 2007,  R)
El Orfanato (The Orphanage)
Quite a disturbing and atmospheric mystery, with a perfect balance between psichological issues and pure oddness, both spooky and playful... invites you in the game to decide how to take it, because you have no real clue. I say this is a good thing. Not necessarilly a happy ending, but a good story. A very good story.

August Rush 2007,  PG)
17
Death at a Funeral 2007,  R)

Disturbia 2007,  PG-13)
Disturbia
Quite enjoyable, if you don't mind the lack of logic. What's Disturbia? A state of mind, or maybe an imaginary realm for those mentally "disturbed" huh?
So it starts really slow, giving you time to accommodate and become interested (or not) in Kale's neighbours' little lives and then suddenly Disturbia is invaded by outsiders and a statement has to be made: the man next door is a serial killer. What comes after that is no more than an accumulation of strange coincidences that would have served only to convince me of the poor man's innocence, if it wasn't his disgusting expression. The part in which the villain is discovered and eventually killed is no doubt very tense and good, but seemingly from a different movie. Oh no! Coincidences all around, it must be from this one.

The Girl Next Door 2007,  R)
The Girl Next Door
Exaggerated in order to shock the viewer ... against logic and common sense. Despite being inspired from a real case, looks like an evil witch story.
20
The Golden Compass 2007,  PG-13)
21
Juno 2007,  PG-13)

Hot Fuzz 2007,  R)

An American Crime 2007,  R)
An American Crime
Pretty close to the truth, I guess, and well played, but seeing in parallel the testimonies and the events was somehow annoying (as we couldn't understand if we didn't hear some things with our own ears).
25
The Last Mimzy 2007,  PG)
26
Premonition 2007,  PG-13)
27
The Mist 2007,  R)
The Mist
Pretty decent monster movie.
An experiment of the army opens the door for some creatures from another dimension which would make Aragog look friendly and the Kraken feel jealous for not having legs. However, the fear and the isolation release more dangerous monsters in the people's minds. Even in those of the best of them. Certainly the idea of putting a bullet in your own head or in the head of someone dear to you, is not one of my favorites. The ending scene spreads the mist and leaves the question: 'Why?'.

[Rec]
Very frustrating experience.
Come as a recommendation from some people with a large knowledge of the horror genre, I expected a lot from this movie and I was surprised to see only a bunch of hysterical people yelling and running chaotically.
And when finally it started to become interesting, introducing the misterious creature from the abandoned appartament, it ended. I guess I am supposed to be waiting for the sequels. Well, think again.

Paranormal Activity
To wait more than an hour for some paranormal things to manifest could be full of suspense and frightening for those who believe in such things, but it certainly doesn't make a movie all by itself. How about the rest of us? What are we supposed to do while we wait... read a book?
I think I would have liked to hear it on the radio. At least this way I could have done something else too at the same time. Anyway we don't see much, and what we see is laughable, like the demon's traces.
