Transformers 2007, PG-13)
Just what you want from a blockbuster film. Great action all the way, amazing SFX and a fair share of humour to. The effects are just breathtaking, not felt like that since I watched The Matrix! It has a very simple storyline and as a fan of the toys, animated movie it would have been nice to see more of the other Transformers characters. Overall though it's a brill blockbuster that will thoroughly entertain you!! |

Live Free or Die Hard 2007, PG-13)
A great, stand out action film that delivers all the good stuff from the other Die Hard films....and even a few ideas from some other top action films. |
|
| 3 |
Disturbia 2007, PG-13)
This is a very cool, very good thriller. It's a bit like a modern day remake of Rear Window but with plenty of comic moments as well that it is also a bit like The 'Burbs, The girl next door. Overall a very enjoyable thriller and the pace really picks up towards the end with a few good "red herrings" along the way! |

No Country for Old Men 2007, R)
A great movie with some fine actors especially Javier Bardem who I have not seen in anything before. He has a certain screen presence and voice that is perfect for this role. A simple plot about a man on the run after finding two million dollars at a drug deal gone bad in the desert, only problem is the ultimate bad ass killer really wants it back! For me this felt like a modern day western which is very intense and well directed. It does have some strange moments and throws up questions about violence, bad people and bad times along the way. I just thought the ending could have been better. However it is well worth a lot of the praise it has got so far. |

The Mist 2007, R) |

| 6 |
The Hitcher 2007, R)
This is a brilliant if simple thriller/horror film! I was surprised I liked it so much, favours well compared to the original and much better than The Hitcher 2 which no doubt passed many by, just as well. This is very similar to the original with the general plot and "key" scenes still in it. Sophia Bush is great in this and Sean Bean does make a a good viillain. Very violent and bloody to go with it! If you thought this would be a poor comparison to the cult original then I suggest you check it out. |

30 Days of Night 2007, R)
At last a great Vampire horror film!! It's been a long time coming. I love the Blade and Underworld films but they definitely fit more into the action genre. This is bloody and gory in places, has plenty of tension and a good story about a town under siege for 30 days. The photography is great and vampires look original. Overall it has something for everyone especially those who love a good horror, vampire film! |

300 2007, R)
A great entertaining film, with plenty of action and a very impressive visual style similar to Sin City. Although the fights are great, very violent the use of CGI blood effects gave it quite a comic book feel and help tone the gore side down a bit. The story is very simple and to the point, not a deep film it is all about the battles and the visuals. Great if you liked Troy, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven but some viewers might want a bit more story to break up all the action. However it's definitely worth experiencing! |

The Kingdom 2007, R) |

Mr. Brooks 2007, R)
A great film about a top businessman who has a dark secret, he is addicted to killing people! Definitely not the normal run of the mill serial killer film. The acting is great and the story is very good with some new ideas on the theme. Overall not the usual cat and mouse thriller but a very good film! |

| 13 |
Spider-Man 3 2007, PG-13) |

| 14 |
Halloween 2007, R)
I thought this was a very good film and a great remake. It's not entirely scene for scene like some and gives a lot more time to Michael as a young boy and reasons for him to turn evil. Rather than just a madman on the run from the asylum. Although some key scenes are kept and a few are changed slightly for the update, why change what worked so well in the original. Some people will just rate down remakes just for the sake of it, but seriously Halloween might have been scary if you saw it in your teens but today? This builds on what was a great horror classic and adds a few touches, more of a back story, a bit more violent and sexed up a little for today's audience. Whether you have seen the original or not you should check this out. |

[Rec] 2007, R)
A great little Spanish horror film that has a realism about it you just don't get in many horror films. This did so well the Western remake was done just a few months later and also got good reviews (Quarantine). Very short at 70mins but brutal and shocking after a slow opening. Filmed from the point of view of a local TV camera man, like Blairwitch and Cloverfield, making a documentary about the local fire service. They go out on a call to a local apartment block, beginning a series of shocking events. |
|
| 16 |
Perfect Stranger 2007, R)
Surprised at some of the reviews I have seen for this? I thought this was a very good thriller with a very good twist, for once that you can't see coming right from the start of the film. Maybe it's a bit slow to start with but has one of the best endings for a thriller I've seen in recent years! Go check it out!! |
|
| 17 |
Shooter 2007, R)
A great action film with a good plot, lots of shooting, explosions that keeps a fast adrenalin pumping pace throughout. It's a little predictable and Danny Glover talks like he is wearing a gum shield for some reason!? Overall though I thought it is very similar and just as good as The Bourne Identity. So if you like that check this out!! |

American Gangster 2007, R)
A great film with great actors and well directed. I watched the extended edition and it flew by for me despite being close to 3 hours long. It's not as violent or graphic as the likes of Casino, Goodfellas but it is as equally as immersing as those gangster films. The fact it is based on a true story makes it even more interesting. If you like gangster or mafia films you'll love this! |

Saw IV 2007, R)
This is a very good horror film that keeps in the tradition of the other Saw films. For me this is probably the 2nd best of the first four films after the 1st. There is a lot more explanation into why Jigsaw had become what he was. This installment also reveals new plot lines linking the other films. It may be confusing for some, might be worth watching Saw 3 again shortly before watching this. This is due to quite a few flashbacks to the other films, characters and the fact that in the timeline of events most of this film overlaps with the 3rd film. Very gory in places as you expect but a better storyline than the last two films. |
|
| 29 |
Fracture 2007, R) |
|
| 30 |
National Treasure 2 : Book of Secrets 2007, PG)
More of the same in this big budget sequel. Most of the original cast return for the 2nd outing. This time they set out looking for the lost city of gold. The action takes place over America, to Paris and London as well. If you liked the first or treasure hunt films you'll love this. There may well be a 3rd? |
|
| 31 |
The Brave One 2007, R)
I wasn't expecting much from this. I hadn't heard an awful lot about it considering it was made a few years ago. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It's a very emotional revenge, vigilante type film. Great lead actors, and a touching, thought provoking story. Well worth seeing if you haven't already! |
|
| 32 |
Death Sentence 2007, R)
This is a very good revenge action film from the director of Saw, spot the Jigsaw face! The story as with a lot of these films is a bit over the top. Kevin Bacon starts as a calm mild mannered white collar worker who suddenly changes into a raw hate filled father after the death of his son. Pretty handy with a range of guns all of a sudden as well. Apart from that the film is great and has plenty of decent action scenes and some great performances from the two lead characters. |
|
| 33 |
In the Valley of Elah 2007, R)
I didn't know much about this film before I saw it but heard critics and fans a like giving great reviews about it. A father and former part of the military police goes in search of his son who has gone AWOL after returning home from Iraq. |
|
| 34 |
El Orfanato (The Orphanage) 2007, R)
A great Spanish ghost story/thriller which I'm sure said it was directed by Guiilermo Del Toro? I saw the trailer and had to see this. It's very creepy at times, largely due to the spooky location. It's a very good story well told and directed. Reminded me of The Others, The 6th sense most of all, so if you like those you'll love this. |
|
| 35 |
Eastern Promises 2007, R)
This is very similar to A Histroy of Violence with the same director (David Cronenberg) and Viggo Mortensen teaming up again. It is just as violent and possibly more bloody and graphic. The acting is of a very good standard and although it is a bit slow at times you are likely to be engrossed in the story too much to notice. |
|
| 36 |
Beowulf 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 37 |
Good Luck Chuck 2007, R)
A pretty decent comedy with more than a fair share of laughs. A real mix of sex/romantic comedies that it is like most rom-coms and predictable but also similar to the likes of American Pie in many ways. Overall quite funny at times and enjoyable enough to watch if you like these styles of comedy films. |
|
| 38 |
Rush Hour 3 2007, PG-13)
More of the same as the first 2 films but this time ending up in Paris for the finale. Although the franchise is starting to get a little old now, the first had a good story the 2nd is my fave for the action and comedy and this is more like the second film. Just getting a bit predictable now, but still good fun! |
|
| 39 |
The Number 23 2007, Unrated) |
|
| 40 |
Juno 2007, PG-13)
A very good, funny and witty coming of age comedy as a young girl comes to terms with falling pregnant. It has some sharp dialogue and Ellen Page is good as the smart ass kid that always has a sarcastic remark at the ready. You'll like it depending on your sense of humour but it has a good strong cast too. |
|
| 41 |
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (AVP 2) 2007, R)
Well this is much better than I expected. After the rather disappointing first AVP this has a lot more action in it. It reminded me a lot of the Aliens film in the second half of the movie and some scenes were very similar whether that was deliberate or not is hard to say. It's good to see continuation from the earlier Predator and Alien films as well in this, such as the weapons and behaviour seen in those films help link it to both franchises. Overall a good action/horror that is better than the first by a long way. Oh for those complaining the film is too dark, adjust the brightness! |
|
| 42 |
28 Weeks Later... 2007, R)
A very good sequel to the first film. Just as bloody and violent as the first, maybe more so! There is plenty of action and it never really lets up. The way it is filmed especially the first attack in the house is raw and gritty and makes you feel you are there fighting for survival to! However the plot is a bit similar to most zombie films and obvious at times. The geography of London has changed a fair bit to taking minutes to get from east to central London if only! lol Overall a great thrill ride with plenty of action and memorable scenes, but you know what to expect by now. |

Stardust 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 44 |
The Bourne Ultimatum 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 45 |
Premonition 2007, PG-13)
A good film some may find hard to follow, due to different timelines. However it makes for a pretty good thriller and although it didn't end as expected, it probably made the film better for being different. |
|
| 46 |
Smokin' Aces 2007, R) |
|
| 47 |
Outlaw 2007, R)This is a very good film, quite violent and gritty with a strong cast. Fed up with the soft treatment of criminals and thugs in England, a group forms to administer their own justice. A very relevant subject at the present time as a gang culture seems to be on the rise in England. Although the films deals with getting back at those directly linked to the characters in the film, rather than random people. Everyone will have a view on this. Maybe it could have been done slightly better, they storyline wavers a little in the middle. However it will provoke a reaction from everyone. |
|
| 48 |
Sunshine 2007, R)
A pretty good film, a sort of space disaster/thriller film as a crew set off for the Sun to drop a nuclear payload to kickstart it back to life and get Earth out of an Ice age. They are the 2nd team to set off, will they make it or suffer the fate off the 1st missing crew? |

| 51 |
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 52 |
War (Rogue Assassin) 2007, R)
This is a pretty good action film featuring an assassin who seems to be playing off the Triads and Yukuza against each other. There is plenty of action, car chase, shootouts, sword fights and quite brutal to. Maybe some of the fight scenes could have been a bit better or more of them but overall this is a quality film worth checking out. |
|
| 53 |
Tropa de Elite (The Elite Squad) 2008, R)
A very good film, although I had hoped for something a little bit more after the trailer. It's more of an action/drama dealing with the drug trade in the slums of Rio in Brazil. It has a good story and is well made and shot with a fair share of brutal, violent action scenes. Almost feels like a documentary at times it has that raw feel about it. From the same director as the City of God. |
|
| 54 |
The Reaping 2007, R) |
|
| 55 |
Next 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 56 |
Knocked Up 2007, R)
This is a decent comedy, with good actors with some funny dialogue and scenarios. A little long but it goes fairly quick. I was worried it would be a bit too lewd, crass and just not funny. However it's above the average teen comedy threshold. It should have something for everyone to laugh at. The main pairing of Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen are growing on me after seeing a few of their films now! |
|
| 57 |
American Pie Presents: Beta House 2007, R)
Completely silly and over the top sex comedy. It seems each new entry tries to out do the last with more sex, nudity and gross-out humour. After an ok 3rd, weak 4th (Band Camp) the series is picking up again with the main characters from Naked mile in this. Based around the Stifler cousins at University and set 3 months after the last film, at least there is a bit of continuity again. Definitely a guy flick with wild parties, pranks, tons of hot girls and more breasts than a plastic surgeons catalogue! If you liked the first 2 and Naked mile more than the others you will like this, the 7th is already out to! |
|
| 58 |
Resident Evil: Extinction 2007, R) |
|
| 59 |
Hitman 2007, R)
This is an enjoyable action film with plenty of cool action sequences, shoot-outs and chases. It's based on the series of popular video games and stays quite true to parts of the games. The way the missions are relayed, location, suit, outfit changes and even some of the tactics used in the game are shown in the film. So this should keep the games fans happy. For everyone else this is just a cool stylized action film, which reminded me of the Transporter films quite a bit. |
|
| 60 |
Captivity 2007, R)
Maybe not captivating but this film is far better than many critics and reviewers would have you believe! Especially those who rave on about Hostel and its great "twist"? Pretty sure there have been similar films, stories like that around for ages. As for the twist there isn't one, as it is so obvious what was going to happen! |
|
| 61 |
Ghost Rider 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 62 |
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer 2007, PG) |
|
| 63 |
The Golden Compass 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 64 |
Superbad 2007, R)
Wow I must have missed something as I thought this was borderline ok, nothing special at all. Seeing all the 4*+ ratings and comparing it to American Pie has shocked me! The cops were the funniest thing about the film the rest was all very predictable as a bunch of nerds try to get some booze for a party so they can get a girl. Ok for a watch but far from a classic comedy for me. |
|
| 65 |
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 66 |
Hannibal Rising 2007, R)
A well made film with great locations, that explains a little about how Hannibal became to be what he is in The silence of the lambs. However I feel a lot is still unexplained and wouldn't be surprised if a further film takes us right up to date with his story, to the point of him being in prison at the start of The silence of the lambs. Still better than Hannibal though. |
|
| 67 |
Wrong Turn 2: Dead End 2007, Unrated) |
|
| 68 |
Hostel: Part II 2007, R)
There are a lot of mixed reviews for this. Some saying it is better than the first, a slight majority disagreeing. It is still very bloody, gorey and has a bit of torture in it but to a lesser extent of the first. In that respect it is similar to the first but this time with three girls. I'm glad this does follow on from the first and is the same Hostel. At first I thought this might be set in a totally different place to the first. The only real problem is after the first it's all a bit predictable, especially who will be killed etc. It doesn't quite have that raw edge of the first that made it a bit more believable. Overall if you liked the first this pretty much more of the same if not as gritty. |
|
| 69 |
Storm Warning 2007, R) |
|
| 70 |
Seraphim Falls 2006, R)
A pretty decent western with a quality cast. It is very much a tracking a man on the run film, a very dangerous man as it happens. It is wonderfully shot to as the backdrop changes from the snowy mountains, forests, open plains and into the desert. It gets a little surreal in the final third but still an interesting film. |
|
| 71 |
Shattered (Butterfly on a Wheel) 2007, R)
A pretty decent thriller, although not surprised it was straight to DVD. Saying that it does have a strong well known cast but just has a low budget feel to it. It's watchable especially if you like any of the actors but just not as intense or gripping as better thrillers. Called Butterfly on a wheel in the UK. |
|
| 72 |
The Hills Have Eyes 2 2007, R) |
|
| 73 |
The Tripper 2007, R)
A strange, stoner slasher produced and directed by David Arquette (Scream). It's quite a decent modern slasher, quite odd but the back story as to why this guy goes off the rails killing hippies is explained. Less so the high regard Ronald Regan is given. It's funny in places, has a fair bit of gore, I found the tripping hallucinations a tad annoying. There is even a brief cameo from Courtney Cox-Arquette. Overall pretty good compared to many recent slasher offerings. |
|
| 74 |
The Heartbreak Kid 2007, R)
I'm not a big fan of Ben Stiller to be honest, but found this film ok. Still not up there with the likes of There's something about Mary. However it is better than some he has done. It has quite a few funny scenes and some raunchy ones to for a Rom-com?! Overall a good cast, a bit cheesy in places but an ok film overall. |
|
| 75 |
I Am Legend 2007, PG-13)
This is a pretty good film, although saying that there is not really a lot of "story" to make a film of here. Especially When Will Smith is the last man on Earth, but despite this he gives a great performance and the film holds your interest even with the majority of it having just one character. There are some cool scenes of a deserted New York city (Where else!) but some of the other effects are so-so. Unfortunately there are a lot plot holes in the story and many questions that won't be answered. Good viewing but not groundbreaking. |
|
| 76 |
Buried Alive 2007, Unrated)
Compared to many Slashers I've seen lately, and that's quite a lot, this was pretty good. From the same director as the Wishmaster and starring Tobin Bell of the Saw films. It is a bit slow building up to the kills, but when they come they are quite gory and different to the norm. A bunch of uni friends head out to one of the kids big house out in the desert looked after by the creepy caretaker. The house has a dark history involving a family curse, gold and murder. Good production value and a decent cast raise this above most straight to DVD slashers. |
|
| 77 |
Blood and Chocolate 2007, PG-13)
One of those films where the trailer makes it look so much better than it is. Was hoping for something close to Underworld as it was done by the same producers. However it is more a tale of romance. They are not really werewolves either but humans who turn into wolves....not something in between. Ok for a watch but could have been so much better. |
|
| 78 |
The Condemned 2007, R) |
|
| 79 |
The Flock 2007, R)
For a straight to DVD film this is actually a pretty good thriller. Gere and Claire Danes give good performances about a tough subject matter. They monitor sex offenders in the community, when a teenage girl is kidnapped in the area their suspicions are raised. A bit slow at the start but the second half of the film is good cat and mouse stuff. Don't expect much of Avril Lavigne in this though, a one scene cameo is all you get from her in this. |

Warlords (Tau ming chong) 2007, R)
Another big battle epic set in China's past. Some of the battle scenes are very good and the acting is impressive but the overall story just wasn't that interesting to me. It just sets up one battle up after another really. Curse of the Golden flower was visually more impressive and has a better storyline to it. The two are very similar. |
|
| 87 |
Black Snake Moan 2007, R)
Quite a strange tale. This film brings together a man just split from his cheating wife who is a farmer and ex-musician and a young white girl who seems to be a bit of a nymphomaniac! It's a good film about a very unusual friendship that can restore the both of them in the right path for the future. |

Wedding Daze 2007, R) |
|
| 89 |
I Want Candy 2007, R) |
|
| 90 |
Goal II: Living the Dream 2007, PG-13)
A decent follow up to the first film, with the young Mexican snapped up by Real Madrid in the January transfer window to help their champions league campaign. Again this has plenty of guest stars playing themselves and the football games and scenes are very well done. Plot wise the new kid on the block has to cope with fame and fortune, the press, living abroad with his wife back in Newcastle and finding his mother. Not as deep story wise as the first, you do need to watch that first really and I wasn't happy with the quick ending waiting for the third installment, but this is about as good a film about football as can be made. Next up Goal 3 at the World cup!! |
|
| 91 |
There Will Be Blood 2007, R)
A very unique film that will have most people in one of two camps. Some will love it as a quality film, with a great performance from Daniel Day-Lewis. It's well written and has some stand out cinematography. Others despite this will find the story a bit tedious, boring. The film is a bit too long, some will find it drags in places. I fall in between the two, appreciating a well made film but the story was just not that interesting. If you like films along the lines of the Godfather, charting rise to power etc you should like this. |
|
| 92 |
Dragon Wars (D-War) (War of the Dragons) 2007, PG-13)
For a straight to DVD release the special effects, CGI and stunts, were very good. It had a much bigger budget feel to it. The story and plot are all a bit simple but you know what to expect. The creatures look good. Overall totally over the top B-movie monster mash fun, not to be taken too seriously. |
|
| 93 |
TMNT 2007, PG) |
|
| 94 |
The Invasion 2007, PG-13)
Another interpretation of Invasion of the body snatchers. This was an ok thriller, well made with a good cast. It just lacks any real punch, it's not tense, gripping or scary in any way. A missed opportunity really. I'd recommend The Faculty instead as that is a much more fun film, also influenced by the body snatchers. |
|
| 95 |
Rendition 2007, R) |
|
| 96 |
Balls of Fury 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 97 |
Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer 2008, R)
A pretty cheesey B movie comedy horror. It's good in places but I started to get bored, it feels long even at 75mins. Slow to start but with a good end but not much to the story or plot. I was hoping for a lot more than this. On the plus side it has some very good old school make up effects and creature designs look good. One more for the horror fans, others may find it a little to slow. |
|

Black Water 2007, R) |

The Last Mimzy 2007, PG) |

Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane (Plane Dead) 2006, Unrated) |
|
| 101 |
Flood 2007, Unrated)
This is a fairly decent disaster film. It's a nice change to see a film of this type set outside New York for change! Some of the acting is pretty dour....the old guy playing a marine expert is especially bad, talking at the same pace and tone no matter what the scene. However the SFX in places are impressive and shots of a flooded London are believerable. Overall it would have benefitted from a bigger budget, but it is still watchable. |
|
| 102 |
Shrek the Halls 2007, G) |
|
| 103 |
Teeth 2007, R)
A sort of B-movie horror with very dark humour. It's actually a bit slow and just seems to fill out the spaces between the 4 main scenes in the film. Some will find it to gross and gory and be crossing their legs. Something different, taboo subject matter in a way but overall doesn't make it a great horror. More one to to experience than anything else. |
|

Breach 2006, Unrated) |

Lake Placid 2 2007, R) |

| 106 |
Solstice 2007, PG-13) |
|
| 107 |
Timber Falls 2007, R)
Another very average horror set off the beaten track. A couple of familiar faces in the cast and it is quite gory in parts. However it feels like it's trying to ride the coat tails of Wrong Turn, The hills have eyes franchises. One for horror fans who don't mind a cheesey horror. You might like Eden Lake instead. |
|
| 108 |
Welcome to the Jungle 2007, Unrated)
One for the trailer made it look much better category. It's a mix of Blair witch project and Turistas (Paradise lost). Told in hand held cam format as two couples head into the jungle looking for a long lost heir to the Rockefeller fortune. Very slow to start and quite bleak, by the end you don't care what happens to them. Only gets gory for the last 15 mins or more. One for camcorder horror fans only really. |

Funny Games 2007, R)
A strange film with not very much plot or explanation as to what is going on, although some might like this more because of that. It's a very gritty, raw, rather bleak film as a couple of psycho's decide to play games with a family in the holiday home. Just need to watch a comedy after to lift your mood! |

BloodRayne II: Deliverance 2007, R)
Another film based on the video game character Bloodrayne. This has nothing to do with the Bloodrayne 2 game what so ever. This time it's set in the old wild west, not that wild though as there isn't a lot of action. Billy the Kid just happens to be a vampire in a small town so Bloodrayne has to come to the rescue. It's not as bad as I feared for an even lower budget sequel to the first, at least that had actors you have heard of in it. Just has that cheap TV film feel to it, but it could have been worse I guess. |

Species: The Awakening 2007, Unrated)
The 4th and worst of the series so far. Doesn't have any of the characters from the first three films. It doesn't really explain where the hybrid came from or where it was created, so it doesn't have a good link to the other films. It has a very slow, dull build up to the last 20 mins or so. If they ever go back to this series it has to be with a link to the first film and hopefully with a decent idea and budget! |

Outpost 2007, R)
It started with great potential but overall starts to fade in the final third. Not bad by all means for a low budget indie horror. At first I thought it might be a take on of Dog Soldiers but with a Nazi zombie twist.....but it's most ghostly to be honest. A fair bit of gore and creepy atmosphere in the dark bunker at the start would have been a great setting if the story was a little better. Try out the Norwegian film Dead Snow, for a fun horror comedy on a similar plot. |

Gone Baby Gone 2007, R)
An impressive directorial debut from Ben Affleck, I really like The Town as well which he directed and starred in. Based on a novel by Dennis Lehane he also wrote Mystic River which was a great entertaining if gritty and harsh film. This has many similar themes running through it. The cast is an amazing line up and all give good performances. It's the harshness, grim reality in terms of the setting, characters and subject matter that make the film intriguing as well as compelling viewing. A very interesting film, go and see it and Mystic River! |

Somebody Help Me 2007, Unrated)
A very poor, low budget made for TV horror. It has no real plot, not much is explained for the story or the reason for the killer. The acting is bad, the script even worse. Some of the characters appear and disappear just as quickly. It doesn't have many kill scenes as such. Mildly gory in a couple of scenes. Really though this is pretty bad and just about any other horror film is better than this! I can't believe it got a sequel!! |

Dead Silence 2006, R)
A creepy horror film with a high production value and good cast. There might not be a high enough body count for some, or for it to be classed as a slasher anyway. However it does have a spooky atmasphere with the creepy dolls. Not the most original or scary film, but at least it tried something new and different, among the endless carbon copy horrors being released these days. I have to add for a horror film the photography is great, you really can tell the attention to detail in every shot, from the angle, framing, lighting and colours. You don't notice that in many horror films! |

Brain Dead 2007, PG)
A rather poor, very low budget, comedy horror. It's very gory in places and the effects on the shoe-string budget are pretty good. The first third of the film isn't too bad, introducing some odd characters, a few gory scenes, plenty of B-Movie sillyness and nudity. Once they all get to the cabin though and try and hold out as long as the can it becomes rather boring and by the numbers. Watch only if you like odd B movie horror films or enjoy gore effects. |

Waitress 2007, PG-13)
Well seems I'm the only person who didn't like this?! I thought it was a Rom-Com but it's more of a Rom-Drama. Quite weird and quirky, I just found it painfully slow, long and a bit boring. The 2nd half isn't too bad but the film didn't need any where near the run time. I would say it's most like The good girl with Jennifer Aniston but I enjoyed that more than this. |
