Dramatic, good acting, and the handsome Tim Curry. How didn't it become more popular?
7
Airplane! 1980,  PG)
Airplane!
One of the best spoof movies of the 80s, although it feels like a 70s movie because it spoofs them.
8
Midnight Madness 1980,  PG)
Midnight Madness
Fun movie, kinda silly, but very enjoyable. Plus Michael J. Fox is cute and young in this movie, so you've gotta check him out.
9

Used Cars
Great comedy adventure movie about rival car salesmen, very original.
10
How to Beat the High Cost of Living 1980,  PG)
How to Beat the High Cost of Living
Hilarious movie, great actors, and a good story, how can you go wrong? I loved this movie.
11
Serial 1980,  R)
Serial
What a hilarious movie! Especially for those who remember the 70s or just watch a lot of old movies (like me). My favourite part of the movie was Christopher Lee's small role, it was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen! The other actors in the movie are really great as well. The movie is about people who follow the 70s fads to an absurd length, and the main character played by Mull, is sick of it all. So funny. I highly recommend seeing this movie.
12
Seems Like Old Times 1980,  PG)
Seems Like Old Times
This reminds me of the old 40s movies where the married couple would always get back together after a crazy adventure.
13
Superman II 1981,  PG)
Superman II
This is the Superman movie you want to see. It's got good villains, it's funny, and it's exciting. I recommend this one over the others.
14
Paura nella cittą dei morti viventi (City Of The Living Dead) (The Gates of Hell) 1980,  R)
Paura nella cittą dei morti viventi (City Of The Living Dead) (The Gates of Hell)
Fantastic special effects, I thought I was going to throw up in one scene, they were so gory. The story is good too, but I got a little confused at the end. The actors are good too. Plus, it's exciting. This is a must see for fans of gory horror movies.
15
The Monster Club 1981,  Unrated)
The Monster Club
This is a really fun movie, perfect for watching on Halloween too. It's one of those movies that's got three or four different stories which are told, in this movie, by Vincent Price, who plays a vampire. Plus, there's some really cool Halloween music from a couple of bands that perform in the movie as well. And, I loved the ending!
16
My Bodyguard 1980,  PG)
My Bodyguard
I liked all the quirky characters in this, and the interesting story, it all goes together well.
17
Dinosaur 1980,  Unrated)
Dinosaur
Fun and educational movie, I first saw it at the public museum, and bought it on video. Great for kids, but also entertaining for adults.
18
The Apple 1980,  PG)
The Apple
This film sets the story of Adam, Eve, and the apple in the 70s with two musicians who are tempted to become stars. I really enjoyed this crazy movie, it's from 1980, but it's still very 70s. It's as if the 70s lasted till 1994, and then the music industry took over the world. It also gave me a 1984 (George Orwell) vibe. I loved the ending, it was so cool. If you like weird musicals, you should really check out this little film.
19
Nine to Five (9 to 5) 1980,  PG)
Nine to Five (9 to 5)
Good women's comedy movie, great actresses, and an interesting story.
20
Caddyshack 1980,  R)
Caddyshack
Good for a movie about golf.
21
Up the Academy 1980,  R)
Up the Academy
A fun movie with great music and some laughs.
22
Maniac! 1980,  R)
Maniac!
Such a great horror movie. Spinell is creepy, there's good blood and gore, and I love the ending!
23
Harlequin (Dark Forces) (The Minister's Magician) 1980,  PG)
Harlequin (Dark Forces) (The Minister's Magician)
An interesting fantasy and mystery movie, but I'm still not quite sure exactly what the dark force behind everything was supposed to be. Even so, I found the movie captivating.
24
Popeye 1980,  PG)
Popeye
Why don't they make a live action movie of every cartoon? Usually it doesn't work out too good, but this movie of Popeye is really cool, it's funny and exciting. I really liked it.
25
The Changeling 1980,  R)
The Changeling
A sad, spooky, exciting little ghost story, I really enjoyed it. Scott is haunted by the spirit of a kid, so he investigates the kid's murder! Check it out.
26
North Sea Hijack (ffolkes) (Assault Force) 1980,  PG)
North Sea Hijack (ffolkes) (Assault Force)
Oh, I loved Anthony Perkins in this movie! He's such a good bad guy, his performance is fantastic in this movie. It was kinda funny how this guy, Ffolkes, just happened to be training these guys for just such an attack, but still, this movie is exciting and I really liked it.
27
Inferno 1999,  R)
Inferno
Great movie from Argento! I really liked it, it was exciting, suspenseful, and scary like his movies should be.
28
New Year's Evil 1980,  R)
New Year's Evil
This movie appears to be just another slasher flick in the beginning, but at the climax the killer is revealed, and it makes for a real great plot twist. I'm giving this movie four stars for the ending mostly, but the rest of the movie is alright too, it's just that the end is the most suspenseful part, and the final scene is perfect. I enjoyed this movie, and if you like slasher flicks you'll enjoy it too. Plus, there's some good bands playing in the movie too.
29
Friday the 13th 1980,  R)
Friday the 13th
Although I enjoyed it, I would have liked it better if I hadn't been told by everyone on Flixster who the killer is in the end.
30
Somewhere in Time 1980,  PG)
Somewhere in Time
Ok, so Reeves can go back in time just by using self-hypnosis? Although this was a good movie, that premise is crazy.
31
Man with Bogart's Face 1980,  PG)
Man with Bogart's Face
At first the movie is really funny, as it goes along the laughs are more sporadic, but the mystery is pretty interesting to try to figure out. I couldn't believe how much the main character played by Robert Sacchi looked like Humphrey Bogart, it was amazing. Overall a good movie, but I think it could have been better, more excitement and more laughs would have helped.
32
The Silent Scream 1980,  R)
The Silent Scream
This is a good mystery/horror/slasher movie for the most part. It's got a haunted house and young college students who get killed off by someone in the house. It gets predictable towards the end, but it's enjoyable enough for slasher fans.
33
Dressed to Kill 1980,  R)
Dressed to Kill
So creepy. I never thought I'd be scared by Michael Caine. The ending is nightmarish.
34
Fame 1980,  R)
Fame
Good, but it has too many main characters.
35
Caligula 1979,  R)
Caligula
This spill over from the 70s stars some great actors, but it borders on porn, so if you want to watch it beware of that. Actually i think there's an edited version now too. Anyway, the story is pretty interesting and the actors do well with what they've got, but I wouldn't encourage anyone to see this.
36
Village People - Can't Stop the Music 1980,  PG)
Village People - Can't Stop the Music
I don't know why other people have given this movie a low rating, it's not that bad. Sure the movie is about the Village People, but that doesn't mean the movies not funny and enjoyable. It's pretty cheesy, but not in a bad way. I wasn't a fan of the Village People before, but I now think they're not as bad as I thought they were. Anyway, I sorta liked this movie, and if you like early 80s music and fun cheesy 80s movies, you should see this movie.
37
Roadie 1980,  PG)
Roadie
Although it was totally awesome to have so many rock stars in one movie, I couldn't stand some of those "texas" characters. I say: see this movie for the stars, the music, and to just sit back and enjoy, but don't expect too much.
38
American Gigolo 1980,  R)
American Gigolo
Am I the only one who doesn't find Gere attractive? His acting in this movie is pretty one dimensional. What I liked about this movie was the story, especially the ending which was the most exciting part of the whole movie, and I loved the cinematography, this is a sharp looking picture. If only it weren't so long, and they'd have gotten a cuter male lead, this would have been a fantastic movie.
39
Hero at Large 1980,  PG)
Hero at Large
Nice to see Ritter take a break from playing a nice guy on TV to play a nice guy in a movie who becomes a superhero.
40
Oh Heavenly Dog 1980,  PG)
Oh Heavenly Dog
Wow, why do we need so many of these guys becoming dogs movies? I don't like that idea, but I did find this movie to be pretty funny because of Chevy, so it was fun.
41
Christmas Evil (You Better Watch Out) 1980,  R)
Christmas Evil (You Better Watch Out)
A pretty good horror movie surrounding Christmas time. It was better than I expected.
42
Nothing Personal 1980,  PG)
Nothing Personal
Sutherland and Somers try to save the seals using their legal know-how to find loopholes. That may sound boring, but there is some action and romance injected into the film as well. It works good enough, but it still could have been better. If you're interested in activism movies you will like this one.
43
Macabro (Macabre) (Frozen Terror) 1980,  R)
Macabro (Macabre) (Frozen Terror)
It could have been scarier, but the ending makes up for it.
44
Therese Raquin 1981,  Unrated)
Therese Raquin
Surprisingly explicit for a British TV movie. It was pretty good, better than I expected anyway.
45
The Kidnapping of the President 1980,  R)
The Kidnapping of the President
Can Captain Kirk save the president? Yeah, this movie is predictable and cheesy, but hey, it's got Shatner!
46
Hopscotch 1980,  R)
Hopscotch
Although it was funny how Landau's character made the government look like idiots, I almost sided with them in the end. Is he really jeopardizing national security just for fun? The movie isn't very clear on that. Half of the movie was pretty boring, though, there were a few scenes which were funny. Overall, an okay movie.
47
Squeeze Play! 1979,  R)
Squeeze Play!
A cheesy, low-budget, silly movie, with sex jokes, but I kinda liked it too, it's fun. Not a good movie, but fun to watch if you've got nothing better to do.
48
Private Benjamin 1980,  R)
Private Benjamin
Good cast, but a so-so movie, I especially didn't like the ending. There are some scenes which are very funny, but not enough to make me give this movie a higher rating. Overall, a so-so movie with a couple of good laughs.
49
The Blue Lagoon 1980,  R)
The Blue Lagoon
This movie has it's moments. Overall it's really dull, and I hated the ending, but like I said, it has some sweet moments that are worth watching.
50
Foxes 1980,  R)
51
Prom Night 1980,  R)
Prom Night
If you loved Halloween and Saturday Night Fever, and wished they could put them together somehow, and maybe incorporate a revenge theme, you need to see this movie! Frankly, I thought it was a little silly and predictable, and I don't really care for Curtis as an actor, so that doesn't help my opinion of this movie either. Overall, the movie is alright, but it could be scarier.
52
The Babysitter 1980,  Unrated)
The Babysitter
This movie could have had potential if it wasn't a made for TV movie, and if the story wasn't so predictable. I kinda enjoyed it anyway, though.
53
The Fog 1980,  R)
The Fog
Not good, but not bad either. The story could use a little work, but the movie is watchable the way it is.
54
The Awakening 1980,  R)
The Awakening
If you've ever wondered what The Omen would have been like if the story were about mummies instead of the devil, then this movie is for you. The movie starts out average, but ends well. Overall, an okay movie, not great but okay.
55
Mother's Day 1980,  R)
Mother's Day
Another wacky movie from Troma! I liked it in some scenes, and didn't care for others. It really is a creepy movie, though. I liked the climax of the movie, but I didn't understand the very end of it, it confused me. Overall, an okay horror movie.
56
Alligator 1980,  R)
Alligator
Just what you expect it to be... a giant alligator eating people in the city.
57
Where the Buffalo Roam 1980,  R)
Where the Buffalo Roam
If you're either interested in the life of Hunter Thompson or are studying journalism you will enjoy seeing this movie, but if you're just wanting to see a comedy you'll be disappointed like I was. There are a lot of outrageous things that happen in the movie, but most of it isn't funny. Plus, I didn't like the ending either, it doesn't tell you much of anything.
58
Humanoids from the Deep (Monster) 1980,  R)
Humanoids from the Deep (Monster)
An 80s version of a 50s B-movie from Roger Corman! It doesn't fail to in its promise to show sea monsters terrorizing a small town and raping the women, but it does fail in the story department. If it weren't for the gore and nudity this movie would be completely boring, and even with those intact it's not a great movie. Overall it's an okay movie, not horrible but not good either.
59
Conquest of the Earth 1980,  Unrated)
Conquest of the Earth
I liked the old Battlestar Galactica show, but this little movie is just silly. There were some good moments, but overall very silly.
60
Coast to Coast 1980,  PG)
Coast to Coast
This run of the mill road movie is slightly funny and mostly annoying. Cannon is especially annoying, she makes me think she really was crazy. The story is predictable, I knew the end within the first ten minutes. If you like road movies with annoying people like Dyan Cannon, you'll like this movie.
61
Mama Dracula 1980,  Unrated)
Mama Dracula
Ridiculous vampire movie that tries too hard to be outrageous and funny.
62
Saturn 3 1980,  R)
63
He Knows You're Alone (Blood Wedding) 1980,  R)
He Knows You're Alone (Blood Wedding)
Very blase... Not scary at all.
64
Final Assignment 1980,  PG)
Final Assignment
An okay story with great actors, but the characters are one dimensional. This movie was flat, it wasn't visual or deep or anything. It wasn't very good is what I'm trying to say, but it wasn't really bad either, I wouldn't recommend seeing it.
65
The Big Red One 1980,  PG)
The Big Red One
Too many slow scenes, too boring, this movie isn't that great.
66
Terror Train 1980,  R)
Terror Train
Gee this reminds me of Prom Night... Wait, a minute, didn't that come out the same year? What were they doing? Making both of these movies at the same time? I don't know, but I'd recommend seeing one or the other but not both of these movies, since they are pretty much the same, and Curtis stars in both as well.
67
Pray TV 1980,  PG)
68
Demented 1980,  R)
Demented
Bad actors, bad camera, lights, dialogue, etc. The story is okay, and semi realistic to begin with, but the other elements ruin it.
69
The Hearse 1980,  PG)
70
The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle 1980,  Unrated)
71
Altered States 1980,  R)
Altered States
Extremely strange experiments go on in this movie, by the middle I didn't know what was going on anymore.
72
GORP 1980,  R)
GORP
Is there any story in this hodgepodge of a movie? All sorts of stupid practical jokes take place in a summer camp, and none of them are funny. They were trying too hard to copy Meatballs with this movie, and failed miserably. I wouldn't recommend seeing this movie.
73
Xanadu 1980,  PG)
Xanadu
I don't know what to say, this movie was so bad. Sure, there's singing and dancing, but the story's stupid.
