42nd Street and then all those fantastic musicals from the 50's.....An American in Paris , Carousel and Brigadoon. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Calamity Jane and Kiss Me Kate are probably my favourites.....Howard Keel had a real flair for comedy as well as a great voice.
Corny but true--fave musical is Sound of Music--reminds me of my mom (professional musician)and my large family, all of which she had learn different instruments.(me=piano) Though we were a little more dysfunctional...and no running from Nazis. ;p
The king and I is probably my favourite musical. To be honest I'm not a big fan of musicals I didn't even like these musical which are considered to be masterpieces. I didn't like singin in the rain, sound of music, meet me in st louis or grease.
