I have to answer some questions of books that have influenced me. And I was wondering about you guys. Are there any books that have influenced you, your personality, or who you are today? Something that has affected who you are or that you really loved?
I've read books that have definitely made me think a fair bit about my life, though I wouldn't say any have influenced me to make direct changes; though they might have done subconsciously. Most thought-provoking novels I've read: Anna Karenina (my favourite novel), Proust (first couple of volumes only so far, my previous favourite before Anna Karenina), Sister Carrie (my previous favourite before Proust!), Unbearable Lightness of Being (recently finished, which I thought was also drivel in places, but that's just my opinion) :)
There are a lot of influential novels out there. As A writer some novels help you get a better understanding of what people are looking for. I dont read as much as I used to, but I write more now, and I have been influenced by Authors such as John Grisham, Dean Koontz, Lisa Jackson, JK Rowling.
As fae as novels that have made me think Life of Pi is one of those novels that have made me question what life is all about. Same as A Fine Balance. These books really opened my eyes to culture and what life really is.
hi! I read the book of the books the Bible, sell or you are sold, and listened to some audio books like the greatest miracle, the greatest seller in the world, ša suffitil faut que ša change and many others
That would be all of the classics of the 19 and 20th century that I started reading when I was around 12/13; it completely shaped the person I am today. Such as The Catcher in the Rye, The Sun Also Rises (all of Hemingway's stuff, actually), 1984, Brave New World, Of Human Bondage,The World According to Garp , The Fountainhead, The Sound and the Fury, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Picture of Dorian Gray, On The Road, Sons and Lovers, Lolita, Catch-22 (I'm sure there's more).
It's not even so much the topics in the books that have influenced me (that would be a bit disturbing for some of the books mentioned), but I just put so much of myself into these novels whilst reading them.. These books really helped me through an important time of my life and made me feel accepting of the fact that I didn't really belong or fitted anywhere. But especially The Catcher in the Rye, The Sun Also Rises and 1984 have really influenced my perspective on things.
