Xun Zhou
flixster.actor.pane.359855197 - flixsterXun Zhou mini-bio:Arguably one of the best actresses in China, Zhou Xun (pronounced 'Jo Shuen') stands out for her flair and devotion, especially in performance. Many distinguished screenwriters and directors, both native and foreign, agree she is a young talent whose star is rising swiftly.

During childhood, Zhou Xun was expected by her family to be a fine artist. She was later educated to become a dancer, but Zhou Xun was destined to be an actress. Since her debut on screen at age 15, Zhou Xun displayed her remarkable talent in dozens of films and TV series, successfully playing roles with strikingly different social standing and disposition. These include the puerile little princess in Palace of Desire, the gifted young poet in April Rhapsody, and two contrasting roles in SuZhou River which earned her topmost fame and popularity all over China and Southeast Asia.

While most TV and movie stars nowadays crave reputation and popularity, Zhou Xun values her career more seriously as a life-long dedication. In this manner Zhou Xun keeps taking up more challenging roles such as the special needs girl Du Xinyu in Symphony of Rain and the traditional female Xiu He, suffering from social oppression, in When Tangerines Ripen.

Zhou Xun also attempted singing for her series. The theme song by her in "When Tangerines Ripen" contributed significantly to the success of the series. This comes as no surprise since Zhou Xun’s talent in singing was already established by her 1st single «Piao Yao (Odyssey for Love)», which both won many awards in China.

Her more recent films have seen her gain even more success. These include All About Woman and the recent Chinese blockbuster The Message.
