BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Toby Kebbell was born in Pontefract, Yorkshire, England on the 9th July 1982 and was the 4th of 5 Siblings. Toby and his family moved to Nottingham where he grew up. His parents divorced when he was just 18 months old, whilst his Father remained in his life, it was his Mother who brought him and his siblings up single handedly and has never remarried. She took on work as a cook and a Landscape Gardener and even learned to lay bricks. The family shared a three bedroom house in Newark. His Father was an Engineer for a Newark based company that made Ball Bearings.
After dropping out of school at 15, Toby took up Painting and Decorating and also worked in a hotel and at age 17 he got into a group called Central Television Workshop.
It was at the Wednesday afternoon group at Central Television that Toby had his first breakthrough, when Independent Film Director Shane Meadows saw him and cast him in the role of Anthony in the film Dead Man's Shoes (despite Toby having been kicked out for not being able to take part in a play, he was called back to Audition) for which he went on to earn a nomination at The British Independent Film awards.
