Reece Shearsmith is best know for his work as a quarter of The League of Gentlemen with fellow actors/writers Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson, but has several other TV appearances alongside stage work in London. From March to November 2006 he appeared in The Producers as Leo Bloom. He has had parts in programs such as Catterick, Max & Paddy's Road to Nowhere, Spaced and Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased). His main film work was with the rest of The League of Gentlemen in the 2005 movie The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse, but he has had cameos in Birthday Girl [2002] and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy [2005]. Shearsmith is well known for his absurb characters who speak gibberish - Papa Lazarou, the wife collecting circus act and Pamela Doove, the crazed Stanislavskian performer, being two good examples. He studied at Bretton Hall College (now part of the University of Leeds) where he met his fellow League members. He now resides in North London with wife Jane and their children Danny and Holly.
