Nigel Planer mini-bio: Nigel George Planer, (born 22nd Feb, 1953 in London) is an English actor, author and playwrite. He was one of the original cast of The Comic Strip team (which also helped launch the careers of Adrian Edmondson, Dawn French, Rik Mayall and Jennifer Saunders, to name but a few), pioneers of the 'alternative comedy' movement in the UK. Planer is probably best known for his role as Neil in the the cult BBC comedy 'The Young One's', where he starred alongside fellow comdey strip members, Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall, as well as Christopher Ryan. He has been involved in many theatre productions including Evita, Chicago, We Will Rock you, The Rocky Horror Show, and most recently he played the role of the wizzard in the West-end production of 'Wicked'. Next is to be taking on role of Wilbur in the West-End production of 'Hairspray' He has been married twice. His first marriage was to Anna Leigh. They had a son, Stanley. His second marriage is to Frankie Park and they have a son together called Harvey. | |
