She tows the line between independent /genre film leading lady and the fringe of the mainstream. Loved ,hated, often challenged she continues to infect the very bloodstream of the horror/ sci-fi universe on every media level with her dominating presence and tireless work effort.

Born in Newark, NJ, Monique Dupree (also known as Tha Original Gata) knew as a small child that she was meant to entertain. She started off as a child runway model for her uncle's company called "Rising Star Productions". As a teenager, she moved into various theatre productions, Including Ntozake Shange's, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.
Dupree's first film experience didn't come until she was 14 on the set ofLean on Me. Although she was only background, she realized that she'd found her medium..FILM! Monique has not stopped kicking asses and taking names since that point. With 50 films under her belt already, she's showing no signs of stopping. Some of her film projects include: American Gangster, The Replacements, The Ten, Satan Hates You, Bachelor party in the bungalow of the damned, Step Up 3-D , Bikini Bloodbath Christmas and most recently, East fifth Bliss. She's also no stranger to television, appearing on such shows as: Z Rock, Law & Order, The Tyra Banks Show & The Superagent.
